On this episode, Jared starts a new series - Mighty Minerals! He kicks the series off by exploring lithium from a completely different perspective—not just as a psychiatric medication, but as a naturally occurring trace mineral that may play a role in mood balance, stress resilience, sleep rhythm, and cognitive support. You'll learn the difference between high-dose pharmaceutical lithium and low-dose nutritional lithium, why dosage and intent matter, and how integrative practitioners are using micro-doses as part of a broader wellness strategy. Jared also breaks down how lithium interacts with circadian rhythm, neurotransmitter signaling, and brain stability, plus how nutrients like magnesium, omega-3s, B vitamins, inositol, and adaptogenic herbs may complement it. This episode is educational and empowering, designed to help you think critically about mental wellness, trace minerals, and personal responsibility for your health.Products:KAL Lithium OrotateSolaray Lithium AspartateVisit the podcast website here: VitalityRadio.comYou can follow @vitalitynutritionbountiful and @vitalityradio on Instagram, or Vitality Radio and Vitality Nutrition on Facebook.

Tune in for our conversation with Dr. Stephen Cabral where he breaks down why even health-conscious biohackers can struggle with chronic symptoms, pointing to hidden imbalances that standard approaches often miss. He emphasizes starting with gut and immune health and explains why comprehensive lab testing, especially Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA), offers insights that blood work alone can't capture. The conversation explores how stress, electrolyte imbalances, and heavy metal exposure quietly drain resilience, making proper detoxification and mineral balance essential. Dr. Cabral also shares practical guidance on magnesium, zinc, copper, iron, and adrenal support, tailoring advice for high performers under constant pressure. We also dive into our personal HTMA results so you can get a front row seat on what a typical HTMA consultation looks like. Throughout the episode, he underscores that optimal health isn't just about supplements and protocols, but also mindset—building “stress calluses” and taking a truly holistic, systems-based approach.Dr. Stephen Cabral is a Board-Certified Doctor of Naturopathy and founder of EquiLife, the global integrative health organization providing at-home lab testing, personalized wellness protocols, and concierge health coaching to over 300,000 clients over the past 25 years. He also founded the Integrative Health Practitioner Institute (IHPI), which has certified over 5,000 practitioners globally, and hosts The Cabral Concept podcast with 3,500+ episodes and 100 million+ downloads. After overcoming a life-threatening illness at 17, Dr. Cabral went on to get his doctoral degree and completed over 2,200 internship hours all over the world including India, Sri Lanka, China, Europe, and the U.S.SHOW NOTES:0:42 Welcome to the podcast!3:13 About Dr. Stephen Cabral4:12 Welcome him to the show!4:48 Why do healthy people get sick?7:48 Addressing gut & immune system first10:36 Starting with HTMA Testing12:21 Electrolytes in hair vs blood work15:12 Validity of HTMA16:05 Overview of our results interpretation18:09 Lauren's HTMA results22:38 Supporting the HPA axis with electrolytes24:33 Magnesium recommendations25:29 Iron, Copper & Zinc31:51 Advice for high performers & high achievers33:44 *CALOCURB*34:56 Lauren's heavy metals41:17 Renee's HTMA results44:32 Creating stress “calluses”50:21 Renee's heavy metals52:50 Finding a Biological Dentist54:47 Where else metals are stored56:42 Adrenal support ingredients57:25 Zinc & Copper balancing1:03:45 Minerals & Metals Test1:05:32 His final piece of advice1:06:50 Thanks for tuning in!RESOURCES:Calocurb - discount code: RENEE10Website: www.drstephencabral.comIG: @stephencabralYouTube50% off the Minerals & Metals TestBook: PersonomicsCoaching: sign up for the Personomics waitlist at:Personomics.ioThe Julian Center for Comprehensive DentistryTo find a Biological Dentist: iaomt.orgSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/biohacker-babes-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands
Send a text to Melissa and she'll answer it on the next episode. Breathing trouble changes the whole mood of a home—especially when a child wakes at midnight tight-chested and scared. We wanted a plan that feels calm, clear, and practical, so we walk through how to read asthma patterns and match them to targeted homeopathic remedies without sidelining common-sense medical care. You'll hear how triggers like colds, nighttime anxiety, damp mornings, mold, or exercise point to different choices, plus what improvement really looks like in the moment. We dig into a focused remedy toolkit: Spongia for dry, barking coughs; Antimonium tart for rattly chests that can't move mucus; Arsenicum for midnight fear and suffocation feelings; Ipecac for wheeze with nausea; Nat sulph for damp-weather and morning tightness; Blatta orientalis for dust and mold links; Bryonia for painful, stillness-seeking breathing; and Phosphorus for sensitive, easily overwhelmed lungs. We also share practical dosing guidance—start low and slow, reassess if nothing shifts, and use the rescue inhaler when needed. If a remedy consistently helps a known trigger, we discuss when prophylaxis makes sense and when to wait.Because asthma isn't just lungs—it's nerves, sleep, and emotion—we add supportive tools that steady the whole system. Magnesium to relax bronchial muscles, avoiding cold dairy during colds, steam to move congestion, time outdoors for vitamin D and regulation, and playful breathwork like bubbles, pinwheels, and lion's breath to ease panic and lengthen exhalations. We close with clear red flags for urgent care and a simple way to build your own “flare card” so the right remedy is at your fingertips. Send a textIn this episode of The Autoimmune Reset Podcast, VJ Hamilton explores anxiety from a physiological perspective — not just an emotional one.Anxiety rarely exists in isolation. It often sits alongside autoimmune disease, gut dysfunction, blood sugar instability, and nutrient depletion. In this episode, VJ breaks down how simple dietary shifts and targeted nutrient support can significantly reduce anxiety by stabilising the nervous system at its root. The conversation is divided into two key parts:Part 1: Foundational dietary changes that help regulate blood sugar, calm the gut, and reduce inflammatory triggers that drive anxiety.Part 2: Key nutrients that directly support brain chemistry and nervous system resilience — including magnesium, omega-3 fatty acids, and L-theanine.If you've ever felt like your anxiety feels “physical” or unexplained, this episode will help you understand what may be happening beneath the surface — and what you can start doing today. In This Episode, We Cover:Why anxiety often coexists with autoimmune diseaseThe physiological drivers behind chronic anxietyHow unstable blood sugar fuels nervous system hyperactivityWhy reducing stimulatory foods can calm the bodyThe gut–brain connection and its impact on mental healthMagnesium's role in regulating neuronal firingHow omega-3 fatty acids reduce neuroinflammationWhy processed foods increase mood volatilitySimple dietary interventions that can create profound changeKey TakeawaysAnxiety is often rooted in physiology, not personality.Stabilising blood sugar is one of the fastest ways to reduce anxiety symptoms.Gut health plays a central role in mental well-being.Magnesium supports nervous system regulation and calm.Omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation in the brain.L-theanine can promote calm focus without sedation.Processed foods increase glucose spikes and emotional instability.Small, consistent dietary changes can significantly improve resilience.“Stabilise your blood sugar to reduce anxiety.” “Gut health is crucial for mental well-being.” “Magnesium can help calm neuronal firing.”Chapters00:00 — Understanding Anxiety from a Physiological Perspective Why anxiety is often biochemical, not purely psychological, and how autoimmune and gut health overlap with mental health.09:19 — Nutrients for Anxiety Support The key minerals and fatty acids that help calm inflammation and regulate the nervous system.
On this episode of Vitality Radio, Jared takes a closer look at the cholesterol conversation and the widespread use of statin medications through a functional health lens. Rather than relying on fear or headlines, he explores how cholesterol numbers are interpreted, the difference between risk markers and root causes, and why metabolic health, inflammation, and lifestyle factors may play a larger role in long-term heart wellness. Jared also explains concepts like absolute risk, number needed to treat (NNT), and why informed decision-making matters when evaluating any health strategy. This episode encourages listeners to ask better questions, seek clarity, and consider a comprehensive approach to cardiovascular health that includes nutrition, movement, and targeted supplementation. Magnesium is one of the most widely used food supplements across the UK and Europe. It's recommended routinely, taken daily by millions, and often viewed as a simple, sensible way to support normal physiology. Yet a common experience keeps emerging in both practice and everyday use: many people try magnesium and notice little or no benefit. In this episode of the Electromagnetic Nutritional Hub, we explore Why Widespread Use Does Not Guarantee Widespread Benefit. Rather than questioning magnesium's importance, this discussion looks more closely at why outcomes can vary so widely, even when recommendations are appropriate and intentions are sound. We examine how individual terrain, dietary background, digestive handling, stress load, and formulation choice all influence how magnesium is absorbed and utilised. Drawing on published human research, the episode explains why different magnesium forms behave very differently under digestive conditions, and why the utilisation gap between magnesium citrate and magnesium oxide is more pronounced than the difference typically observed between magnesium glycinate and oxide. We also unpack why elemental magnesium figures alone can be misleading, how chemistry and solubility shape real-world outcomes, and why label terminology does not always reflect how a product behaves in the body. This is a practitioner-informed, biologically grounded conversation about context, not correction, and about why lack of response often reflects complexity rather than failure. If you're interested in a clearer way of interpreting supplement response, formulation differences, and real-world nutritional outcomes, this episode offers a valuable framework for understanding magnesium beyond the label.

Confused about which osteoporosis supplements actually work and which ones may be doing more harm than good? In this episode, we clear up the supplement confusion as Dr. Kim Millman returns to discuss the most important supplements for osteoporosis and the common mistakes people make when taking them. From calcium forms to magnesium ratios, vitamin D optimization, vitamin K2, genistein, and protein, we clarify what supports bone health and what could increase cardiovascular risk. Dr. Millman explains the "calcium paradox," why more calcium is not always better, and how to determine the right amount based on your lab values. We also explore vitamin K's role in directing calcium into bones (and out of arteries), research on genistein compared with Fosamax, and why adequate protein is essential to prevent sarcopenia and bone loss. If you want evidence-based guidance on building stronger bones safely and effectively, this episode gives you exactly that. "You really need to have enough protein to fuel your muscles. Is your magnesium not working, even though you're taking it daily? Discover why magnesium is not working, how to choose the best type of magnesium, improve magnesium absorption, and avoid common magnesium supplement mistakes in this video. If you're taking magnesium for sleep and other benefits, yet you're still dealing with insomnia, fatigue, high blood pressure, heart palpitations, leg cramps, anxiety, and more, this is for you. Magnesium is one of the most important minerals in the body. It's involved in over 300 biochemical reactions and is vital for the following: • Heart rhythm• Healthy blood pressure levels• Sleep • Energy• Insulin • Nerve function • Mitochondrial functionHere are 8 common mistakes people make with magnesium, which could be the reason why your magnesium supplements are not working! 1. Thinking magnesium works by itself Magnesium and vitamin D are codependent. You need 4,000 to 10,000 IUs of vitamin D for magnesium to work properly in the body. If you don't have enough vitamin B6, potassium, or sodium, it may seem that your magnesium is not working. 2. Ignoring cell membrane damageMany people have damaged cell membranes due to the consumption of seed oils. You need healthy cell membranes for magnesium absorption. 3. Stress Stress shuts down digestion, lowers immunity, decreases blood flow to certain organs, and increases the demand for magnesium. Caffeine can also deplete magnesium.4. Taking the wrong type of magnesium Magnesium oxide is the most common form of magnesium in supplements, but it's the worst! Magnesium glycinate is a much better option and is the most absorbable. 5. Blocking magnesium absorption without knowingToo much calcium can block the absorption of magnesium. Zinc, fluoride, and aluminum can inhibit its function. Low stomach acid, antacids, and acid blockers can also interfere with magnesium absorption. 6. Misunderstanding RDAsRDAs do not represent a therapeutic dose. If you're trying to correct a magnesium deficiency, you need significantly more magnesium than the RDA. If you want to increase your magnesium intake, spread your doses throughout the day, as you can only absorb around 300 to 400 mg at once.7. Unrealistic expectations Vitamins and minerals do not work like drugs. It can sometimes take a while to restore healthy biochemistry in the body. 8. Missing the insulin connection Insulin resistance can block magnesium absorption, and consequently, a magnesium deficiency can increase your risk of insulin resistance. We talk about healthy eating around shift work, whether fruit on its own really causes harmful blood sugar spikes, and how to avoid a whole food approach tipping into restriction or food anxiety. We also unpack the surge in protein-focused TV shows and “nutrient-dense” supermarket ranges, and what's genuinely useful versus clever marketing. There's practical guidance on fibre too, including how to lower intake temporarily when advised, and how to reintroduce it without gut discomfort. We answer a brilliant question on magnesium and sleep, cutting through supplement hype to look at what the evidence says and whether food can meet your needs. Finally, we explore smart supermarket shopping, whether budget and premium stores differ nutritionally, what's worth spending more on, and where you can save without compromising health. Dr. Ben Carson joins me today to discuss his role as advisor to the USDA and HHS. The Trump administration has ended the war on whole milk. The nutrients in whole milk are essential to our children's development and the kids actually love the way it tastes. Flipping the food pyramid and encouraging people to eat real food will have a tremendous impact on the overall health of Americans and increase life expectancy, which has actually gone down before the Trump administration. In 1963 a Florida Congressman introduced 45 Communist goals, it's shocking how many of the have made their way into American society. One of which is to infiltrate our school systems to soften the curriculum and transmit Socialist and Communist propaganda. Dr. Carson wants to see an expansion of school choice so parents can thwart this indoctrination and send their children to a school of their choosing. President Trump acknowledged national school choice week with a proclamation to renew our commitment to empowering every American parent with the freedom to forge their family's — and our Nation's — future. Today's episode is personal, partially because it's my second baby's first birthday (Happy birthday Mabel!) And since this episode lands on that day, I wanted to share what the last year has actually looked like for me: going from one kid to two, navigating a birth experience that didn't go the way I expected, and rebuilding my business around the reality of motherhood (not the fantasy version). This isn't a full birth story, but I do open up about what I learned the hard way: self-trust under pressure, boundary-setting when it's wildly uncomfortable, and why protecting my energy is not optional… because it's part of what my clients are paying for. If you're a mom (or future mom) building a business and want to protect your own peace and power as you grow your profits, this episode will hit hard. Timeline Highlights [00:00:00] - Why I'm recording this on Mabel's first birthday and why this episode is more personal than usual [00:02:19] - The shift I'm making: more privacy, more separation between "me" and "my business" [00:08:24] - Walking into the hospital expecting a chill birth… and getting blindsided by dangerously high blood pressure [00:10:18] - Magnesium, restrictions, stalled labor, and the pressure to accept interventions I didn't want [00:15:03] - The moment everything escalated: conflict with a midwife, boundaries drawn, and firing part of my care team [00:21:00] - The core lesson: trusting my intuition in extreme circumstances and what that unlocked in me [00:31:05] - The past year of motherhood + CEO life: protecting my energy, redefining priorities, and refusing to perform online [00:40:56] - "My business is not my baby." Building a business around my life is non-negotiable [00:46:50] - The new rule: I don't owe anyone an explanation and I'm done being palatable Top 5 Quotes "My business is not my baby. My babies are my baby." "My birth experience told me I could trust myself and my intuition and my gut instinct, even in very difficult circumstances." "I know that I can piss people off, and it can still be the right thing to do." "Part of what my clients are paying for is access to my powerful energy." "I am no longer available for shrinking myself or for choosing somebody else's comfort at the expense of what I know is right." If you enjoyed this behind-the-scenes episode, I'd love it if you'd follow the show, leave a review, and share it with a fellow CEO-mom (or future CEO-mom) who needs the reminder to trust herself and protect what matters most.

Vitamin D and magnesium work together to regulate muscle contraction, energy production, bone strength, and recovery, forming a nutrient pairing that determines how effectively your body responds to training Research consisting of professional and Olympic sports shows widespread vitamin D and magnesium deficiency, which raises injury risk, slows recovery, weakens strength, and reduces endurance through impaired calcium and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) function Magnesium deficiency often hides behind normal blood tests, disrupts cellular energy production, worsens fatigue and cramps, and increases soreness, especially in endurance athletes training hard or in hot environments Endurance exercise increases magnesium needs by shifting the mineral into working muscles and increasing losses through sweat and urine Supplementing magnesium and vitamin D together improves strength, endurance, recovery, and soreness within weeks, particularly in athletes starting deficient or training at high volumes, without increasing workout intensity

Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Linda: Hi Dr. Cabral, I listen to your podcast every morning when I drive my son to school. I love it! Recently, you mentioned the 4 things to do to add 14 years of life. Typically, I have a serving of aronia berries or goji berries every day. Does that count for one of the 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day? Or, does the fruit have to be fresh or frozen? Thank you!! Linda Morgan: Hi Dr Cabral! I have fair skin and as I get older (currently in my mid-30s) I notice that I'm getting lots more freckles on my body- when I was younger I almost never got them. I'm curious if this is an indication of something health-related or if it's "just aging". Is there anything I can do to change this? Thank you! Maria: Can you talk about watery eyes?. usually every morning , corner of my eyes get watery and I always have to wipe them sometimes 2 to 3 times before I put my mascara on. Thank you for all you do spreading your knowledge. I love listening to your podcast every day, especially on the weekends. I really love the way you recap the week. Thanks again! S: I've been seeing xylitol nasal sprays being promoted lately. How is xylitol supposed to help nasal passages and is it safe and effective? When could this be helpful or not? Bettina: Hello Dr. Cabral, My son is 15 and has been grinding his teeth since age 6. It's not severe, but consistent. At 6, one craniosacral session reduced it by about half. Since then, he has had craniosacral therapy every few years, which helps but does not eliminate it. He also saw a physiotherapist specializing in neck and jaw, which helped slightly, though craniosacral was more effective. He likely has mild Scheuermann's based on posture, similar to his father and grandmother. None of them are diagnosed, but all show the same posture. Not sure if there can be a link. He has never had headaches or similar issues. He is active and happy. He takes daily: multivitamin, magnesium (Magnesium taurate, magnesium gluconate, zinc picolinate), vitamin D, and zinc picolinate. The multivitamin is either food-state or a highly absorbable formula with high-dose B12 (methylcobalamin & adenosylcobalamin), active vitamin D3 from lichen. We live in Denmark, which does not allow import of the lab tests used by EquiLife anymore, so that is not an option. What would you recommend? Thank you for your time. Hey friend, Why is it so hard to use natural remedies once I actually feel sick? What helps when brain fog and fatigue make decision-making feel impossible? How can I make sick days easier without adding more to my plate? I'm Ashley — a mom living with chronic illness in a neurodivergent family. If you're dealing with constant fatigue, brain fog, inflammation, and broken sleep while trying to keep up with your kids, you're not alone. This podcast is for chronic illness moms raising neurodivergent kids who want stress relief, better sleep, and simple, realistic habits to finally feel better in their bodies. Each episode shares nervous-system-friendly support to help you calm overwhelm, boost energy, and practice healthy habits that improve your symptoms — even in the middle of a full, demanding life. When sickness hits, energy and mental clarity are often the first things to go. In this episode, I talk about why natural remedies often go unused on sick days — not because you don't care or don't know what helps, but because brain fog and fatigue make decision-making harder in the moment. I share why having a few familiar supports ready before sickness hits is what actually makes natural remedies usable when you feel bad. I also walk through how I think about sick-day support in my own home, in a simple, realistic way that doesn't add pressure or require perfection. Natural remedies I mention in this episode: Oscillococcinum (early flu-like symptoms) Magnesium cream (achy, restless bodies) Elderberry Raw honey Cod liver oil Lymphatic cream (congestion, heaviness, “stuck” feeling) Resources and Links Mentioned Chronic Health Coaching https://ashleybraden.com/coaching Magnesium Cream HERE Lymphatic Cream HERE Natural Product store: https://payhip.com/hearthwellnaturals Connect With Me Contact: https://www.facebook.com/chronicillnessmoms Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/chronichealthmoms Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chronicillnessmoms YouTube: https://bit.ly/chronicillnessyoutube Next Steps: Join the Facebook group for support and community Book a 1:1 Chronic Health Coaching session
Today’s episode of Ask the Doctor was hosted by Dr. Michael Lange and Dr. Susan Summerton. Ask the Doctor is the longest-running live, syndicated medical talk show in the United States, broadcasting coast-to-coast for over 33 years. We opened the show discussing the massive global whey protein shortage. Whey protein is extremely difficult to obtain worldwide due to increased demand from patients using GLP-1 receptor drugs, who are being advised to consume higher protein intake to prevent muscle loss. In addition, major corporations such as Starbucks and Dunkin’ have purchased large quantities of whey protein for functional and sports drinks. Because of this shortage, Fortifeye Fit Pro is currently on backorder, though other Fortifeye whey protein products remain available, and we are actively working to secure supply. We then discussed black currant seed oil and GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) and why GLA may be a missing fatty acid in the modern diet. Fortifeye now offers Black Currant Seed Oil + GLA in a 90-count bottle. GLA helps support dry eye by stimulating Series-1 prostaglandins, which play an important role in controlling inflammation. Dr. Lange reviewed his clinical experience using Fortifeye Advanced Dry Eye Therapy, which combines: • Fortifeye Super Omega (RTG-form omega-3) • Fortifeye Focus • Fortifeye Black Currant Seed Oil + GLA This three-supplement combination has been very effective in helping reduce dry eye symptoms and improve overall ocular comfort. We also discussed the end of the BOGO on Fortifeye Vegan Super Protein. While the BOGO promotion has ended, this remains one of the top vegan proteins on the market, offering an amino acid profile comparable to whey protein, outstanding taste, and three delicious flavors. In addition, we covered exciting new research on carotenoids including lutein, zeaxanthin, and astaxanthin. These nutrients may help lower triglycerides and cholesterol, support brain health and mood, and may even help with depression. These carotenoids are beneficial for children and adults, supporting not only eye health but systemic and cognitive health as well. All three carotenoids are found together in Fortifeye Focus. We explained what photobiomodulation therapy (PBM) is and how it works. PBM uses specific wavelengths of low-level red and near-infrared light to stimulate mitochondrial function, increase cellular energy (ATP), improve circulation, and reduce inflammation. As more companies bring this technology to market, increased competition is expected to drive costs down, making this promising therapy more accessible to patients. Dr. Lange and Dr. Summerton shared their enthusiasm for photobiomodulation therapy as a supportive treatment option for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye disease. Dr. Kane has noted that when diet and supplementation are optimized, this technology may work even more effectively, reinforcing the importance of combining advanced technology with proper nutrition. Dr. Summerton also weighed in on chelation therapy, explaining how reducing toxic metal burden and oxidative stress may further support cellular health, circulation, and inflammation control. When used appropriately and combined with nutrition and lifestyle optimization, chelation therapy may enhance overall systemic and ocular health. An important discussion followed on the often-overlooked connection between dry eye disease and atrial fibrillation (AFib). Dr. Lange explained that many patients with both conditions commonly share deficiencies in: • Magnesium • Potassium • Sodium chloride • Omega-3 fatty acids • Hydration These deficiencies may contribute to inflammation, nerve dysfunction, poor tear quality, impaired circulation, and cardiac rhythm instability.
Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Will: Hi Dr Cabral, Thank you for giving us the opportunity to ask you questions. I've learned so much from other people's questions! I have two of my own. 1. Regarding your past podcast on the importance of broccoli and garlic. I travel a lot for work. When I travel and can't get broccoli or garlic, would it be ok to take a broccoli and garlic supplement. ? 2. I recently purchased the equililife mushroom supplement. Do you recommend taking it all year round or just in the winter. Thanks so much! Will Carol: Dr Cabral, I would like to start by thanking you for all the information you freely give. I've been listening to your podcast almost since it started and I have been able to make positive changes in my life and my family's. I am a healthy, active 62 year old woman. I walk 5 to 10 miles most days. I do strength training 3 to 5 times a week plus cardio a couple days a week. Through diet and exercise I have been able to maintain my weight most of my adult life. If my weight started to go up I would make adjustments in my diet (which was usually from getting sloppy with my diet). Since 2017 I've done your detox at least 3 times a year (I just haven't been able to swing 4), and they usually help me lose the few pounds I gained and put me back on track with my eating. For the last few years, however, my weight has been creeping up higher and nothing (not even the detoxes) have helped me lose the added weight. I've tried everything I could think of, but my weight continues to go up instead of down. I went through menopause 10 years ago. I'm at a loss at what to do, but I definitely don't want to continue to gain weight. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you, Carol Mohamed: Good morning to you Doctor Cabral and all the listeners. Grateful for all that you do. My question is regarding a sort of pinch like feeling on my left side (near heart). On and off randomly.. did blood work and EKG (normal findings). Ran minerals and Metals.. on the higher side for K & N.. Mg green and Calcium (leaning towards high). Other minerals were low, except phosphorus (slightly high) Noticing bloating after meals.. could leaky gut be related to the occasional pinch feeling I get… it's either that or cortisol.. Which lab should I run (can only do 1).. Taking Omega3 support, DNS, Magnesium and exercising twice a week.. I'm a 27 year old man. Noticing new onset fatigue, bloating.. A bit worried about my heart.. thanks.. What can help, proteolytic enzymes, Apple cider Vinegar before meals. Or B vitamins. Thoughts? Cheryl: Morning, My 73 year old dad has type 2 diabetes. He is otherwise in good health, an active golfer, is about 165lbs and walks daily. My parents are old school and believe everything the dr says. Recently, his dr just uped his metformin to 2x a day from 1x and put him on a pill for his A1C. I am annoyed that the meds are just increased instead of looking at the root cause. They recently saw a dietician who said it is not reversable which I know is not at all true. My mom cooks healthy meals but my dad does have a sweet tooth. When he wants something sweet it is often sugar/free which is terrible and full of chemicals. I do not agree with all of the sugar free stuff/sweetners and try go get them to choose different things-monkfruit/coconut sugar but the dietician recommended the splenda type stuff. would love to help my dad reverse this. Any suggestions where to start would be appreciated. Thank you:) Elizabeth: Hi Dr Cabral! Thank you for the amazing work that you do! My 80 year old mother has been experiencing consistent burning mouth syndrome for the past 12 years. She had tried all the conventional methods, gabapentin, CT scan etc and nothing has helped. I recently read that the drop in estrogen during menopause could be the cause. What do you think and any recommendations? Thanks again! Send Audrey a Text to get your question answered on the showThere is a lot of confusion in the magnesium space. Which form is better? What is all of this elemental magnesium talk? Here's the scoop, claims that magnesium oxide is better are based on misinterpreted comparisons, typically magnesium oxide vs magnesium citrate, and/or on something called elemental magnesium content, rather than true bioavailability. And here's a hint, when you evaluate magnesium types using mineral physiology principles and broader magnesium literature, these claims are not supported. ------CitationsSchuette et al., 1994 Bioavailability of magnesium diglycinate vs magnesium oxide Demonstrated alternative absorption mechanisms for chelated magnesium.Coudray et al., 2005 Comparative absorption of different magnesium salts using stable isotopes Showed differences in absorption and retention across magnesium forms, salt only comparison.Schuchardt & Hahn, 2017 Intestinal absorption and factors influencing magnesium bioavailability Comprehensive review of Mg transport mechanisms (TRPM6/7, passive vs active).Werner et al., 2019 Magnesium citrate vs oxide bioavailabilityNational Research Council (NRC), Nutrient Requirements of Horses Documents magnesium metabolism and absorption sites in horses. Just a half teaspoon of this natural anti-inflammatory acts as a potent ibuprofen substitute for inflammation and pain relief. Discover the best home remedies for pain and inflammation, and learn how to address inflammation at the root. 0:00 Introduction: Natural ibuprofen substitute 0:18 Curcumin, the natural anti-inflammatory 1:58 Pain relievers and ibuprofen comparison 2:08 Ibuprofen effects 3:25 Turmeric as a natural remedy vs. ibuprofen 4:32 More natural pain relief alternatives 6:15 Triggers of pain and inflammation8:25 Preventing inflammation Turmeric contains a potent compound called curcumin that can naturally alleviate pain and inflammation. There are 4 biochemical pathways that act as “master switches” to turn pain and inflammation up or down:1. Pain and inflammatory factory2. Master inflammation on-switch3. Inflammation megaphone 4. Backup inflammatory alarm system Many inflammatory treatments do not address all four pathways. Ibuprofen is great at turning the pain and inflammation switch off, and does so very quickly. Unfortunately, this pathway protects the stomach and kidneys, so ibuprofen can cause stomach ulcers and kidney issues. It also doesn't address the other inflammatory pathways, which is why people often have to take it repeatedly. Tylenol works in the brain, affecting the central nervous system, but does not relieve any inflammation. Similar to ibuprofen, aspirin works on the first inflammatory pathway, which can also affect your stomach.Turmeric affects 3 out of the 4 inflammatory pathways! A double-blind randomized controlled study found that taking 1500 mg of turmeric with black pepper produced results comparable to ibuprofen without the side effects. Extra-virgin olive oil mimics ibuprofen's effects at the molecular level. Try adding it to your salad regularly! Ginger and omega-3 fatty acids also work to reduce inflammation. Boswellia targets the 5-LOX pathway, also known as the backup inflammatory alarm system. There are 5 primary causes that flip the inflammatory switches on, leading to pain and inflammation in the body. By addressing the root cause, you can correct the pain rather than simply managing it. The following 5 factors turn on all of the inflammatory switches:1. Insulin resistance2. Mitochondrial damage3. Chronic oxidative stress4. Leaky gut5. Chronic infectionsTo prevent inflammation and address the root cause, try the following:• Low-carb diet • Eliminate ultra-processed foods• Intermittent fasting/prolonged fasting• Magnesium, vitamin D3, zinc, omega-3sDr. Eric Berg DC Bio:Dr. Berg, age 60, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. On this episode of Vitality Radio, Jared is joined once again by homeopathic consultant Amanda Kotter of Elemental Health to demystify one of the most misunderstood natural medicine systems: homeopathy—specifically how it's used safely and effectively with children. Parents often feel unsure about homeopathic remedies because of unfamiliar names, unusual potencies, and misconceptions about strength and safety. In this conversation, Jared and Amanda simplify the process by walking through a short list of essential remedies every parent should understand. You'll learn when and why remedies like Ferrum Phos, Mag Phos, Aconite, Chamomilla, and Arnica are commonly used for kids, how to think about potency without getting overwhelmed, and why homeopathy is often a gentle first step rather than a last resort. This episode is practical, approachable, and designed to help parents feel confident using homeopathy in real life. My interview with Alex Grant, the Founder of Magrathea. His company has achieved a breakthrough in refining brines and seawater to create metals and rare earth materials. Magrathea has just signed an agreement with Tetra Industries in Arkansas to create a new US Magnesium supply from one of their bromine brines. This is a HUGE deal, not only a more sustainable way to make metal, but also reshoring a critical industry that we have outsourced to Russia and China. I'm a proud investor in Magrathea through my VC firm HyperGuap, and think this is one of the coolest startups to watch right now. Thanks for coming on the show Alex! It's the start of a new year, and that means resolutions and recommitments to personal health and wellness. Undoubtedly, there were thousands of wearable devices purchased as presents over the holidays and many more in the post-holiday sale madness. Supplement commercials and social media ads are going strong as we start this new year. But, are these things actually necessary for health? Today, we kick off our Winter Season of Creating a New Healthcare with a deep dive into the wellness industrial complex. Jess Greenwood, Producer of the podcast, joins Host, Dr. Zeev Neuwirth to dissect what we've heard from the experts interviewed on the show as well as our own personal experiences. We debate the role of wearables in behavior change, the influence of the wellness industrial complex, where supplements fit into a healthy diet, and what the companies that make these products really want and need from their users. If you've been a bit skeptical if that Oura ring can help you achieve max readiness or even if you're convinced those Magnesium supplements will be the game changer this year, this conversation is for you.

Creatine is a hot subject right now, but I'm guessing you might not know as much about it as you could. Well step into a new creatine masterclass with our friends from Qualia. This episode shows you why it is not just for muscle, but one of the most powerful and well studied upgrades for brain energy, metabolism, sleep resilience, and long term human performance. You will learn how creatine supports mitochondria, buffers ATP, reduces cravings, and helps you think, train, and recover with more energy instead of relying on willpower. Watch this episode on YouTube for the full video experience: https://www.youtube.com/@DaveAspreyBPR Host Dave Asprey sits down with Greg Kelly for a deep, practical masterclass on creatine and energy biology. Greg Kelly is a naturopathic physician, functional medicine expert, and longtime researcher in supplements and nootropics. He has spent decades studying creatine, mitochondrial function, cognition, and performance, and has contributed to peer reviewed research while working directly with athletes, clinicians, and high performers. Together, Dave and Greg break down how creatine works at the cellular level, why it matters for cognition, emotional regulation, and metabolism, and how it supports the brain and body during stress, sleep deprivation, dieting, and recovery. They explore neuroplasticity, ATP production, magnesium, methylation, and why energy availability drives discipline, focus, and resilience more effectively than willpower alone. They also explain why creatine matters for women, aging adults, and people dealing with fatigue or obesity, and how creatine supports brain function even when muscle mass is low. This conversation connects bodybuilding research with modern longevity science, nootropics, functional medicine, and sleep optimization. Dave and Greg also expose why creatine quality matters, how contaminants can impair mitochondrial function, why some products fail label claims, and how to choose forms that absorb better and cause less bloating. Practical strategies like dosing, timing, stacking with magnesium, and using creatine with hot coffee are all covered, including why Dave uses it with Danger Coffee as part of his Smarter Not Harder approach. You'll Learn: • Why creatine acts as an ATP buffer for both muscles and the brain • How mitochondria drive cognition, metabolism, and emotional regulation • The real dosing debate from low daily maintenance to higher cognitive doses • Why women often need more creatine than men • How creatine supports performance during sleep deprivation and sleep debt • The link between magnesium, creatine phosphate, and ATP production • How methylation and TMG relate to creatine synthesis and timing • Why creatine can reduce cravings by improving cellular energy • How low quality creatine and contaminants can damage mitochondrial function • When creatine matters most for longevity, resilience, and human performance Dave Asprey is a four time New York Times bestselling author, founder of Bulletproof Coffee, and the father of biohacking. With over 1,000 interviews and 1 million monthly listeners, The Human Upgrade is the top podcast for people who want to take control of their biology, extend their longevity, and optimize every system in the body and mind.
