The Financial Services Council was recently proud to join with other industry leaders, education providers and social services professionals to explore practical solutions to inequality in Australian society at the Wayside Chapel’s inaugural Side by Side event in Sydney recently. This episode captures a panel discussion at the event facilitated by our very own Sally Loane. Entitled ‘The CEO, the investor and the social worker,’ the panel features CEO and MD of Perpetual Geoff Lloyd, founder of Australian Philanthropic Services Chris Cuffe and Claudia Lennon from the Benevolent Society who discuss and debate ways at which the financial services sector can help inform and improve existing philanthropic efforts. While all post-production efforts were made - due to the multiple microphones used during the panel discussion - audio quality does vary between the panel members. However, it shouldn’t take away from the quality of topics and themes debated. Why is it that Australian women are retiring with superannuation balances 47% lower than men? It’s a staggering fact… And there are real and severe consequences of this gender inequality in personal savings.
