At Fabtech, host Beau Wigington sits down with Anthony James aka “Meltin Metal Anthony” for a straight-shooting talk on where new and growing welding businesses burn cash, and what to buy instead. From grinders and torches to hoods, PPE, and shop layout, Anthony shares the gear that survives abuse, the stuff that fails fast, and practical ways to vet products at a trade show. They also dig into laser welding, automation, and how to prep your skills (and team) for the next decade.Key Topics DiscussedTools that pay for themselves vs. tools that fail: why cheap grinders and bargain rods often cost more long-term; when a low-cost flux-core box can still earn its keep.Welders & try-before-you-buy: using shows like Fabtech to demo MIG/TIG/stick, and the limits of testing engine drives on the floor.Torches that stay true: hard-earned opinions on Victor and older Smith gear; why some newer replacements disappointed.PPE that protects (and fits): pitfalls of bargain-bin clothing; the case for US-made textiles and consistent QC.Hoods that survive abuse: long-term experience with an auto-dark model (Optrel mentioned) vs. thin shells and short-lived lenses.Shop-build mistakes: poor layout planning, forgetting utilities (power, heat, downdraft, 3-phase alternatives), and failing to size for tables, forklifts, and workflow.Hiring & weld tests: “mess up the settings” as a practical screen for true competence.Laser welding & automation: what's impressive now, code limitations today, and why technicians who can dial in machines will thrive.Mindset for growth: adapt or get left behind—how risk sports, preparation, and owning your quirks translate to business.Save 20% On Related American Welding Program Courses With WELD20Use code WELD20 at checkout for eligible courses - https://foxly.link/9T3dtcConnect with Anthony JamesInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/meltinmetalmobile/ YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@MeltinMetalAnthony Website - https://meltinmetal.net/ Connect with Beau WigingtonInstagram: @beaudiditwelding — https://www.instagram.com/beaudiditwelding LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/beauwigington E-mail: beauw@weld.com
Pastor Anthony Hayes delivers a powerful sermon on the meaning of the temple, showing how it points us to Christ and reveals the depth of God's plan. He explains how every part of the temple symbolizes Jesus—His presence, His sacrifice, and His role as the dwelling place of God among His people. By looking at the temple through the lens of Scripture, Pastor Anthony helps us see how it was always meant to foreshadow Christ and invite us into a deeper relationship with Him.
Is it possible that Anthony James is the “Most Interesting Person in Networking?” In this episode I got to hear some of the craziest stories I've ever heard about troubleshooting network issues: from the jungles of the Philippines to mine shafts deep below the earth and everything in between. And what does it all boil down to? Packets are truth, and if you're trying to solve problems without them, you're just guessing. And oh yeah, he's a stunt pilot too. You have to watch this one!
Our featured interview tonight is with Anthony James. Anthony is a micro-blender of pipe tobaccos. He started smoking pipes in 2020, and because of his chef background he immediately became interested in blending tobaccos. He was led to pipe smoking after his wife's grandfather passed away and they found 10 Kaywoodie pipes while cleaning out the garage. Anthony was already intrigued by pipes from his own great grandfather being a tough Navy man pipe smoker in WWII. He always had this macho image of pipe smokers and when he found the Kaywoodies, that was the last push he needed. In Pipe Parts, Brian will have a list of pipe smoking related things you must at least try once.

Send us a textWas there ever an era in cinema history when the obsession with cars, speed, and outrunning the law—whether you were a hick, a hippie, or a world-weary urbanite—captured the public's imagination more than in the early 1970s?That's what we aim to ponder on this, our 106th episode of the Triple FFF as we discuss not one, not 2 but THREE POWERHOUSE mainstream movies of muscle-car mayhem starting with 1971's Vanishing Point directed by Richard C. Sarafian and starring Barry Newman, Dean Jagger, Paul Koslo, Severn Darden, Anthony James, John Amos and Cleavon Little followed by 1974's Gone in 60 Seconds directed and starring the great HB Halicki, his brother Ronald, Jerry Daugirda and Marion Busia. And topped off with Dirty Mary Crazy Larry also released in '74 directed by John Hough and starring Peter Fonda, Susan George, Adam Roarke, Roddy McDowell and Vic Morrow. My guests this week are car and driving averse bookworm Roseanne Caputi, and the actor photographer and funnyman who heavily encouraged this topic of road burning revelry, a man who spent his formative years at the local theater in Ketchikan Alaska with a dazed smile on his face while his chin and his elbows rested on the seat in front him, whether there was someone seated in front of him or not, Gordon Alex Robertson. Before we cue the getaway banjo music and yell, “Kiss my Grits!” the synopses: Vanishing Point: Kowalski, a Nam vet and former cop turned delivery driver, is tasked with transporting a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T from Colorado to San Francisco in record time. As he speeds across the desert, he becomes a symbol of freedom and defiance, pursued by a relentless law enforcement apparatus. Gone in 60 Seconds (1974): Maindrian Pace, an insurance adjuster and skilled car thief, is tasked with stealing fifty cars in a single night for a dangerous crime syndicate. As the clock ticks down, Pace races against time and evades the law against every possible odd to complete his impressive score. Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry: After pulling off a daring yet disturbing home invasion and supermarket safe heist, two over the hill race car drivers, Larry and Deke, hit the California highways while on the run from the law. They run into a setback when they are joined by Mary, a feisty and free spirited former one night stand of Larry's. The oddball trio then speed through the CA Delta backroads pursued by the shrewd and determined Captain Everett Franklin. Which film laps the others in the Grand Prix and stands as an indelible classic? Or do all three win the Championship? Find out! Watch the video podcast on Youtube: https://youtu.be/nSQrMM2TnsQ

It's no secret our world is in upheaval right now—climate disasters, political unrest, economic uncertainty. But in the midst of it all, there are also stories of resilience, adaptation, and new ways forward. That's a theme Anthony James, host of The Regen Narration Podcast, has explored deeply. From an extended road trip across the U.S., interviewing community leaders navigating climate adaptation, to studying how people respond to upheaval, Anthony has seen firsthand how crisis can be a catalyst for transformation. In this episode, we dive into: Why witnessing and pitching in during disaster—rather than looking away—is essential to change. Lessons from his travels across the U.S., meeting communities in the midst of transformation. A Paradise Built in Hell by Rebecca Solnit, and how joy and transcendence can emerge from catastrophe. Real-world examples of people coming together across political and cultural divides to build something new. What modern society can learn from Indigenous worldviews that see nature as kin and resilience as a collective effort. Do we focus on building centralized movements, or do we nurture local seeds of change and trust in their transformative power? This week, Anthony James, host of The RegenNarration Podcast, joins Mongabay's podcast to share stories of community resilience and land regeneration in the Americas and Australia. James explains how donkeys (seen as invasive pests) are now being managed to benefit the land in Kachana Station in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. In this episode, James emphasizes the importance of harnessing what's in front of us, rather than fighting it. Across the many interviews he's conducted, it's become clear that this concept is something Aboriginal Traditional Owners are keenly aware of. “If you're there, you're kin. There's no sense of ‘being greater than,” James says. Related reading: Huge deforested areas in the tropics could regenerate naturally, study finds Like this podcast? Please share it with a friend. It is the exhausted end of a jam-packed month of May, and we're staring into what promises to be a similarly jam-packed June. It's overwhelming to think about it all, but exciting to discuss some of the biggest stories of the last few weeks. That's right, it's time again for our monthly roundup, this month hosted by Artnet's national art critic Ben Davis, senior editor Kate Brown, and European news editor Margaret Carrigan. Based in Berlin, Germany, Kate recently visited the Marianna Simnett show at the Hamburger Bahnhof museum, which was commissioned to coincide with the 2024 European Football Championship, being hosted by Germany. Maggie, though based in London, traveled to New York for the Art Business Conference and took in Stanley Whitney's retrospective at the Buffalo AKG, where she suggests visitors pay a visit to Albert Bierstadt's The Marina Piccola, Capri, which was gifted to the institution by the artist himself in 1863. Finally, Ben recommends the project "Means of Production" organized by Lunch Hour, which brings together the work of 75 New York-based artists in a former hosiery factory in Red Hook, Brooklyn. First up on this edition is what may be the biggest story of recent weeks and maybe even all of recent auction history, that is the hack of Christie's website that spanned the all-important week of sales in New York, which continues on, and now features a countdown clock threatening to leak valuable client data. Next, the trio discusses a dispute between the artist Maurizio Cattelan and Anthony James over who owns the right to a specific art idea, which in this case is shooting a gun at a metal panel and presenting it as a painting. And finally, we'll talk about the public's overwhelmingly critical outrage over recent portraits of British Royals, specifically King Charles and Princess Kate Middleton. Although they are the most recent instances, there is in fact a long history of unpopular royal portraits.

The Dawgman.com interns - Jack McCauley and Intern Emeritus Luke Mounger - roll through the rest of their position group previews by combining two more rooms into one podcast. After breaking down Washington's defensive line group, the interns got after it with the EDGE and Inside Linebacker rooms. To start, they analyze the UW EDGE players, starting with their stars - Bralen Trice and Zion Tupuola-Fetui - as well as Sekai Asoau-Afoa, Maurice Heims, Zach Durfee, Lance Holtzclaw, Anthony James, and Jacob Lane, as well as veteran Voi Tunuufi, who made the move from the defensive line room. Who will the Huskies lean on after Brice and ZTF? And how will their skill sets complement each other? And how will the walk-ons, starting with Milton Hopkins, make their presence known? After a quick break the guys then move inside to talk about the players responsible for handling the next level of the defense - the inside linebackers. This group has seen a bit of a personnel shift, as Cam Bright, Kristopher Moll, Demario King, Daniel Heimuli, and a handful of walk-ons are all gone; Ralen Goforth was brought in from USC, as well as true freshmen Deven Bryant, Jordan Whitney, and a couple of new walk-ons to help fill in the gaps. So is it a matter of addition by subtraction? Will having Edefuan Ulofoshio from the beginning of the year show itself in a way it couldn't last season? And will Alphonzo Tuputala continue to develop on the field considering all the physical changes he's made in the weight room? And will a player like Goforth reach his potential in a new environment after a mixed career with the Trojans? And will a stalwart like Carson Bruener be the perfect foil for Goforth? Will they be the pair behind Ulofoshio and Tuputala the Huskies can count on for quality depth that they couldn't in 2022? Jack and Luke finish out this preview pod by taking a look at the other scholarship players that make up the linebackers room, as well as the quality walk-ons like Drew Fowler, Austin Harnetiaux, and others. Artist Anthony James and his first exhibition in the region entitled Light at Opera Gallery in DIFC.Antonie Robertson/The National Anthony James (b. 1974) is a London-born, Los Angeles-based artist who graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design with a degree in painting. James is known for his monumental sculptures and installations that embrace Minimalism, Transcendentalism and Light & Space. In the winter of 2023, James became the first and only visual artist to have work exhibited on all seven continents when he installed one of his stainless steel, glass, and LED Portals at White Desert's base camp in Antarctica near the South Pole. “In my practice I'm trying to give a visual demonstration of the infinite or the divinity inside us all,” says James. “If you're seeing and experiencing this ever-expanding cosmos, hopefully that's a window to explore this underlying law of nature, this inner light.” Constellations, Glass, Steel, LEDs. 2020, courtesy Anthony James Studio Constellations, Glass, Steel, LEDs. 2020, courtesy Anthony James Studio Wall Portal (detail) 40”, Glass, Steel, LEDs. 2020, courtesy Melissa Morgan Fine Art
Now that spring ball has concluded, it's time to look back at what we saw during the 15 practices, looking in-depth at each position group. Today, the guys from Dawgman -- Kim Grinolds and Scott Eklund -- take a look at the EDGE group. After an excellent season for the Husky EDGEs in 2022, when two players combined for 17.5 sacks, expectations are high as we head into the late spring and summer months. The guys from Dawgman.com talked about the impact the group had on the Husky defense during the spring with Bralen Trice and Zion Tupuola-Fetui leading the way. They also talked about the offseason signing of Zach Durfee, a Sioux Falls transfer, who flashed some serious potential during the 15 practices. The Huskies have some nice depth, albeit relatively still inexperienced depth, that is led by Sekai Asoau-Afoa who is a versatile players who could play some on the inside as well as the outside. Lance Holtzclaw and Maurice Heims are two scholarship prospects with a lot of promise, but the former was injured for much of the spring and the other got dinged up early, but returned and had some nice moments, although the coaches are still waiting for him to really break out. A walk-on that has been making himself valuable to the group is Milton Hopkins. He won't blow you away with his size, but he's a hard worker and he understands the defense and his assignment and he always seems to be around the ball. Anthony James is a true freshman who showed up early. One of the top EDGE prospects in the country when Washington flipped him from Texas A&M, he has the size and frame to become an absolute monster, but he needs to be locked away in the weight room for a year before he's ready to challenge for playing time. The Huskies also have an impressive looking freshman, Jacob Lane, who has yet to arrive. Like his classmate, the Emerald Ridge prospect needs a year or two of seasoning before he'll be ready to make an impact, but the ceiling for him is high. The guys wrap things up by talking about the 2024 EDGE board for the Huskies and which prospects they've honed in on. The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - made their way through the throng of fans and students to press row and rehash a famous 39-28 win for the Washington Huskies, one 21 years in the making. The year 2001 was the last year UW won a home game over a ranked Power-5 non-conference opponent, and it happened to be MSU's neighbors from Ann Arbor. But this year's Huskies made quick work of the Spartans, pushing out to a 36-14 third quarter lead before the visitors made a full-throated push to get back in the ballgame. In the first part of the podcast, the guys talked about the environment and how Washington was able to get on top of the game quickly - mostly due to the play of quarterback Michael Penix, who finished with 397 yards and four touchdowns. They also talked about the historic game of receiver Ja'Lynn Polk, who caught six passes for 153 yards and three scores, the last one being a 53-yard bomb that looked to put the Spartans away before their furious comeback. After a quick break, talk turned to the defensive side of the ball, and how the Huskies were able to make Michigan State go one-dimensional due to their need to score a lot of points quickly. Credit is due to MSU quarterback Payton Thorne, who passed for over 160 yards in the fourth quarter alone, but the Huskies were able to find sudden-change plays when they needed them most to keep the visitors at bay. To finish the podcast, Scott provided a quick update on the recruits that were at the game, including some on official visits and a host of others that were visiting from out of state. There were a number of committed prospects at Husky Stadium, including Anthony James, Zachary Henning, Kahlee Tafai, Diesel Gordon, and others. And then the three gave their final thoughts on what they saw, including what the win means in the short term, as well as how it might play longer term in recruiting and also with the culture piece that Kalen DeBoer and his staff are in the middle of rebuilding. Trust and belief were two words DeBoer used a lot in his post-game press conference. In the beginning… there was a desktop AV and a firewall. Today, security teams manage scores of security tools from dozens of vendors. With interest in DNS security growing significantly over the last few years, we need to ask why you would want to invest in it, what would DNS security do to the rest of the security stack, and how would it impact SecOps? To answer these questions and more, this week's guest is Anthony James, Infoblox products VP. An industry veteran with a broad vendor background, he will help us demystify DNS security and understand how it fits, or not, in a security profile. Auburn football recruiting is a huge thing to watch during this time of year. It has been a few weeks since Auburn added a name to their 2023 recruiting class but some new targets may be looking to be an Auburn Tiger soon. Dakaari Nelson, Connor Stroh, Jeremiah Cobb, and Anthony James are all potential Auburn adds down the road. Offensive lineman Connor Stroh took an official visit to Auburn last weekend. He was the lone visitor and spent a ton of time with Bryan Harsin and the coaching staff. Jeremiah Cobb is a local prospect from Montgomery that could be an instant contributor to an Auburn offense. Anthony James was a long-time Texas A&M commit who recommitted two days after receiving an Auburn offer. Dakaari Nelson is another local target from Selma who has some ties to the Auburn football program. On today's Locked On Auburn, Zac Blackerby is joined by Sports Illustrated's John Garcia Jr and Locked On Recruiting Insider. The guys discuss the Auburn vs Penn State kickoff time and how it could impact recruiting. They also discuss Dakaari Nelson, Connor Stroh, Jeremiah Cobb, and Anthony James. The wisdom of the Fathers and the essential and fundamental elements of the spiritual life that they present us with is valuable beyond expression. Whether novices in the spiritual life or having struggled for many years, one is given a precious gift in reading the Evergetinos! Synopsis: We picked up once again this evening with Hypothesis 20 on heeding the advice of the elders and the importance of revealing one's thoughts without embarrassment or shame. How beautiful it is when an elder has such compassion and love (as well as patience) to help those in his charge to set before God all of their thoughts and sins. What a blessing it is when you have one who is willing to wait even years, assisting you in the spiritual life, helping you to trust ever more fully in the power of grace and in the depths of God's mercy. The Evil One seeks to do nothing but undermine this trust in God and in one's elder. Even when we are tortured by our sins or our thoughts and temptations we often remain silent; because the evil one convinces us how shameful such thoughts might be. The closer we get to speaking them the more he seeks to make us question the value of doing so. The father's counsel on this is incredibly valuable. It reveals to us the wisdom of God and how it overcomes the cunning of the Evil One. --- Text of chat during the group: 00:18:25 Josie: When we have thoughts that we don't identify with the “inner self” or “inner man” but rather as false self, are we meant to 1) engage them in order to dismantle them at the root and deal with what part of us causes or wants to believe them, OR alternatively 2) do we simply ignore them/reject them as false and just re-center ourselves? 00:21:25 Tyler Woloshyn: This brings to mind the Psalmist when he speaks about in Psalm 136 (LXX) to deal with those sins, passions, vices by dashing them against the rock. To dash them against the Rock of Christ early on rather than much later. 00:23:27 Tyler Woloshyn: (I know it is a controversial psalm, but blessed are the monastics for explaining the meaning behind that psalm.) 00:34:15 Tyler Woloshyn: This story is very interesting when someone is held by passions, but how can one relate to those to struggle with scrupulosity in their confession? 00:45:04 Josie: it's ok you answered thank u 00:49:17 iPad (10)maureen: Is it much like Doctor ? You can have a cancer and not Know it. 00:49:49 iPad (10)maureen: The earlier one find a hidden illness you can recover. 00:52:55 Rachel: I can top that but in my humility will refrain 00:56:09 Anthony: These elders - are they experienced, mature Christians, or is Elder in these stories here the equivalent or presbyteros or sacerdotale - a priest? 00:57:01 Forrest Cavalier: The greek is Ό Γέρων 00:57:13 Forrest Cavalier: The old/wise one. 00:57:17 Anthony: Thanks, Forrest 00:57:18 Ambrose Little, OP: That's Greek to me. 00:57:19 Anthony: James 00:58:56 Anthony: Liberty University in the early 200's encouraged accountability partners and each dormitory hall had a supposedly mature student to be a spiritual leader 00:59:04 Anthony: 2000s 01:01:06 Rachel: I bought that book but have not read it! 01:01:29 iPad (10)maureen: Name of the book ? 01:01:29 Josie: me 2 01:01:41 Ren: A question about confession: In a situation where a certain sin has really taken root, and one finds it difficult even to resolve to try and amend one's behavior, perhaps even resistant to change, what recourse does one have? The thought comes to my mind that is is sacrilegious to go to confession not hoping or firmly intending to change, but it you can't go to confession, what can you do? Are you just a lost cause? 01:02:49 Debra: Wouldn't going to confession provide the graces to help make that change? 01:04:10 Lilly: Orthodox Psychotherapy -author? 01:04:36 Anthony: Ren, I think Nietzsche actually has an important thing to say here - exert the will - not to power, but for our good. ;) 01:04:51 Sawyer: Confessing that lack of desire to change can sometimes bring great grace in itself. 01:07:14 Anthony: Lilly: https://store.ancientfaith.com/orthodox-psychotherapy 01:07:29 Lilly: Thank you 01:08:50 Forrest Cavalier: Psalm 22 01:09:05 Forrest Cavalier: My God why have you abandoned me 01:10:30 Anthony: Well FOrrest threw it out in a Cavalier manner. ;^) 01:11:10 Josie: seems God is always several steps ahead of us and there is always some level of darkness in the spiritual ;ife i think.. 01:13:50 Ambrose Little, OP: Glad you became yourself again.
