Welcome back to the pod! Today, Kaitlyn sits down with Pamela Madsen: founder of Back To The Body and world renown advocate for sexual wellness and education featured in Condé Nast Traveller, New York Times, and more. In this episode, they deep-dive into what it means to reconnect with the body at any of life's phases. Pamela sheds a gentle yet fierce light on the importance of re-gaining sovereignty over your own mind and body, and how this elevates our self-image and overall perspectives as women, and as humans. Pamela exudes a confidence every woman deserves to have about themselves. In this episode she shares how we can all tap in to who we as individuals are at our core, and how to re-discover the confident, sexy "You" that has always been there. Pamela reminds us that you need to put in the work to truly find yourself, and encourages us that getting back to the body reintegrates a stronger sisterhood among women. Happy listening!- K*while this episode and Pamela's expertise is primarily geared toward women finding their confidence and challenging the status quo on body-talk/views, men are also encouraged to tune in and listen to the conversation to learn more about a woman's journey to loving herself, and get curious about what sexual wellness means and could look like for them*

With analysis on why we fear being alone and what we can get out of facing those fears, studies have shown ample benefits of leaning into alone time. Instead of waiting for the wisdom of our elder years to land in our laps to help us realize being alone at times isn't all that bad, why don't we go after it now? In this episode I break down how we can embrace and unlock the goodness of solitude and thus find lasting purpose and meaning in life from spending time with ourselves and our own minds. Each year for the past few years I have set time aside to welcome a "Word of the Year" in order to stay focused and grounded in my growth and goals. In this episode, I have a brainstorm-checkup-self-motivation talk to assess where I stand with my 2024 word at this point in the year and where I want it to guide me moving forward.I reveal my word, what it means to me, and how I'm seeking to go about living it out.I have gleaned inspiration from multiple sources to keep gaining momentum in my word, despite setbacks and curveballs through the year. Life is messy. Without owning up to our avoidances and being true to ourselves in each moment and season of life, we tend to create even bigger messes. Today we are going to sit down and intentionally sift through the mess that is our lives. We'll boldly bring to the surface our strengths and the inspirations that can keep us moving forward as individuals in our callings and together in our purpose. Take it from me, it was a challenge to even string this episode together as I was simultaneously facing questions about how on earth I can use my gifts and strengths to reach my calling, rather than focusing on my weaknesses. By strategically connecting the dots often clouded by fear and anxiety, we can all take something away from this episode that can help us realign with who/what we are called to be/do and how.
What do you consider "good" or "healthy" for you? Would your neighbor completely agree? (probably not!)In this episode, I explore the power of uniqueness as it helps us unveil our customized balance in life. I untangle some knots and reach engaging realizations about what is important in life, and what is not. We tend to impose harsh expectations on ourselves or receive those which society has of us, and when it leads to failure or confusion, we then tend to develop frustration and disappointment; in ourselves or others. I have been on my own roller coaster to finding balance and, at this point in the ride, I seek to share some insights (and questions) in part based on lessons learned and reflections made. I hope that, from this episode, you would be reminded of your worth and of the things worthy of your time and energy.-K xxEphesians 2:10
Happy New Year!2023 brought a lot of growth from both highs and lows throughout the year. I invite you to reflect on your 2023 and brainstorm your hopes and outlook for 2024. Whether you have already made your 2024 vision board or are going into the year blindly, I encourage you to give this episode a listen so you can start this year with an idea of how you can bring your 2023 growth into 2024 and unlock new levels of you!___Book recommendations:The Defining Decade; Why your Twenties matter- and how to make the most of them nowAuthor: Meg Jay PhDThe Song of Achilles Author: Madeline MillerThe Rosie ProjectAuthor: Graeme Simsion___Jeremiah 29:11"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
If you're in your 20s you might be very familiar with the roller coaster of events, emotions, and the sometimes overwhelming pressure to make decisions and fit a mold. Decision paralysis much? Yeah, I've been there. Life can be confusing and even intimidating but there is still so much to appreciate and learn in these times. In today's episode, I discuss building mental fortitude and how we can develop a growth mindset even if we have no idea what our next turn is going to look or feel like. Perhaps you will even realize you already have everything you need to make the moves you are called to make. There is no better time to step into your confident truth than now.Esther 4:14 Who knows if perhaps you were made for such a time as this?

We could all use a little more time to relax and enjoy the things we love in life, but how can we do that when we just have so much going on?! And, right when things seem to be looking up, something else gets in the way and it all just feels like it's never ending! Well, that's life, right? Despite the way life goes, however, and even though we as humans have little say as to how the world turns and what the weather is going to be like on a certain day, we have been blessed with the gift of choice and decision-making. In whatever we are handed in life, we can choose to make the most of it. When life gets super busy, there is still a way to enjoy it! It does take some time, thought, and often trial and error, but doing less while maximizing output is possible for all of us. Life is too short to not embrace the journey you're on. When we think about our emotions, mood, and "who we are", we are quick to think it is a matter solely of the mind and brain. What if, though, we stopped to consider how our moods and mindsets actually are affected more by what we put into our body? In science and medicine, research and practices are revealing the tremendous affects our diet has not only on our day to day moods, but our long term mental and emotional health and wellness. Yes, our diets affect more than just our figures! In this episode I sit down with Vanita Gaglani, a holistic physical and pelvic floor therapist who works with patients of all ages, educating them on the importance of returning to our roots with our food, configuring diets fit for the individual, and maintaining a lifestyle where we don't feel the need to fit someone else's standard. If you're looking to say goodbye to comparison and start to welcome an improved and more fulfilled You, well, enjoy the episode. ;)-K xx
We all go through life facing our own battles. Often times, a voice in our head convinces us to think we are in the battlefield alone but, when we open up to someone else, we soon realize we are not the only one with wounds and battle scars. In this episode, I sit down with my dear friend Kim Ciarcia as we reflect on our shared experiences of recovery with respective eating disorders and what they have taught us about mental health in general. Health and wellbeing of the individual is not achieved at one moment of life and kept the same from then on. Rather, it is a life long journey that changes with time and requires us to persistently challenge the status quo, our thoughts, and develop patience in the relationships with ourselves and others. Leave this episode feeling empowered and connected, and share it with a friend. -K xx {Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the authorities, against the powers of this world's darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms}Ways you can help Hurricane Ian relief:-- donation and volunteer networks --https://convoyofhope.org/https://samaritanspurse.org/our-ministry/hurricane-ian/?utm_source=Bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=m_YYHI-N22V&utm_content=USDR&msclkid=ca3a4b30e389137b6504287139d69bb0&utm_term=hurricane%20ian%20reliefhttps://www.redcross.org/donate/disaster-relief.html/?cid=disasternonbrand&med=cpc&source=b&scode=RSG00000E017&msclkid=01c20fd616dd1bf6829b6c97ccaba2c3&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Disaster%7CNonBrand&utm_term=hurricane%20ian%20relief&utm_content=Hurricane%20Ian&gclid=01c20fd616dd1bf6829b6c97ccaba2c3&gclsrc=3p.dshttps://www.elevationoutreach.org/https://www.americanhumane.org/monitoring-hurricane-ian/?msclkid=df7291672b0f1e337682f226f016cfe5&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=SEM%7CBrand%7CUS%7CHurricaneIan%7CGoogle&utm_term=hurricane%20ian%20how%20to%20help&utm_content=Ian%7CPhrase**Trigger warning for eating disorders and mental health recovery**
Sports are a part of our Western culture, and for active and retired athletes, they will always will be a part of our lives in some way. Eventually, every athlete reaches the end of their career in sports, whether it is after high school, college, professionally, or on your own terms or not. This transition can be quite an adjustment for anyone going through it, and as a former DII athlete, I've been there, and I'm going through it! In this episode, I talk about the feelings, struggles, and breakthroughs I've experienced since walking away from competitive sports with hopes that some listener will hear and know they are not alone in this awkward transition into the unknown. It can be so common for us to get caught up in who we should be, how perfect we should be in our jobs, sports, hobbies, and often end up working our lives away trying to be perfect in the areas of life that may not even be important in the bigger picture. In this episode I sit in nature to talk about how we tend to hold our identity in the stories, accomplishments, and failures of our lives and how that can be a detriment to our growth. We are soo much more than those moments! Do you ever feel like a failure, scared to make the next decision, or fear that the decision you did make was the wrong one? In this episode we get real, quickly. I'm talking courage; how I have been encouraged, what it takes to find courage yourself, and what courage looks like through our battles in life.
