    In this Episode, we examine furthering our education no matter your age.  This includes honing and refining your craft or specialty, like for example owning a business, teacher, electrician, plumber, etc.  You can learn something from a Master in that field, from YouTube, or your parents.  In martial art practice, do not just go through the motions, but do "Thoughtful Practice with a Purpose," so that each technique gets better and each pattern or kata gets smoother.  Don't be afraid to try something or learn something new by attending seminars, trainings, and workshops to better yourself and educate yourself.  "Ambition without Knowledge is like a Boat on Dry Land."

    Martial Art Challenge

    In this episode, we look at the work task of outdoor work like is shown in some of our earlier podcast episodes in order to build strength and muscle endurance necessary for "The Martial Art Challenge."  In our martial art training, we combine our hand techniques, kicking techniques, patterns, speed drills, and shield drills into sets usually from lowest to highest rank.  Then you use a ratio of minutes trained equals number of reps, so that you can combine it with earlier challenges like the rep challenge or stretching challenge to gain workout completion throughout your day and get better at your martial art rather than better at walking!

    In this episode, we look at the history of the "We Three Kings" (or Wise Men) during the Celebration of Epiphany and told during the Season of Christmas.  In our work task, we examine the concept of traveling in our daily tasks, traveling to get food, or for a longer trip.  This movement helps us in our physical training, through the lifting of our gold (weights), and moving basics to travel forward.  In our mental training, using incense and myrrh to bless our dojo and aid in our meditation to become more spiritual in our training.

    In this episode, we talk about how Mr. Miyagi showed Daniel the path to Spirituality  and Faith by teaching him how to breathe and focus.  During our work task, we learn how to pray while working throughout the day by using techniques to stay connected to our God or Higher Power.  In our Martial Art Practice of using Zen Running and Walking to gain exercise including using yoga, stretching, and circle technique movements to keep loose and free up our mobility.  We can do this in nature and using music to help us meditate and listen to the signs for what God or our Higher Power is telling us and reassuring us.  I dedicate this episode to my Mom who passed away this year in August, who gave me the Faith that I currently use to this day.

    In this episode, we learn the importance of stretching and incorporating it into our everyday life by doing the "Stretching Challenge" on a daily basis.  By making it into a challenge each day and counting, you can better track your progress in a similar way that a weightlifter tracks their repetitions.  Doing stand up versions of our your stretches helps to be able to do them at work, at home, or while walking around at a park.  Remember too that a "relaxed mind is a relaxed body."

    In this episode, we examine the topic of "Endurance Machine" which is a way to train so that you can get in great shape for health and performance.  In our work task we focus on manual labor type of outside yard work in order to build locomotor endurance in our muscles.  Then in our martial art practice we have extreme focus to do pattern (or kata) sets from white belt to our highest belt achieved. We also do the same with speed drill, basics, and lifting light weights (or body weight exercises) with high repetitions to get ready for a higher rank (or black belt) exam.   Lastly, we talk about how to "get uncomfortable" in order to change for the better.

    In this episode, we examine the concept of Building and Destroying things like in the Karate Kid and Cobra Kai Shows where the Dojo is being built, destroyed, or re-built again.  First, we use the work of construction to learn how to build things like walls, re-building floors, etc to illustrate the hard work needed to create something.  Sometimes you need to destroy something in order to build it back up again.  In our physical training, we focus on fighting on a fighting platform (or similar) to develop good reactions and responses in our defense.  Then using the "roughing it in, then fine tuning" concept in our patterns or katas to develop your martial art skills.

    In this episode, we look at the repetition in the work tasks that Mr. Miyagi did with Daniel in the Karate Kid Movie and how this develops muscle memory.  Focusing on the repetitive work tasks we can manage our time to get things done effectively and efficiently.  Our martial art training is very similar using pattern sets, speed drill sets, basic sets, and strengthening sequences, we can get better at our martial art skills.   These skills are easily translated into better movements, increased memory, better health, and quicker reactions in self defense.   This is a great topic for Groundhog Day!  

    Hibernation Sickness

    In this episode, we talk about the outing by Sensei Kreese and Sensei Johnny Lawrence in Cobra Kai where they take the students to Coyote Creek.  We then talk about how to take your martial art training to the next level by visiting a state park or local park for some drills and activities, like Sensei Daniel Larusso did instead.   By activating your martial art skills using this park and gaining the peace of nature, you can gain perspective and good training rep-oar  with your students.  Lastly. we examine that fighting is not a game and is often done in many martial art schools; so practice strategy, full power, accuracy instead to take your martial arts to the next level.  

    Fixing the Car

    In this episode, we examine the work task of fixing the car like they have shown in the Karate Kid Universe many times.  It starts with knowing your vehicle really well and doing preventative maintenance by checking things out ahead of time so that they do not turn into major repairs in the future.   Kids should help their parents with maintaining the cars and applying it to their martial art training.  They can do this by knowing their body and doing martial art form and mental checks along the way so that they can live a healthy lifestyle and be effective at defending themselves in the future.  Check with your Instructor for major repairs to your martial art form and the same for a mechanic for vehicle.   :)   

    True Champion

    In this episode, we examine what it means to be a True Champion, just like what Johnny Lawrence talked about in Cobra Kai.  We take a look at our work tasks and know that some things are just temporary because a True Champion does not quit and keeps their "Eye on the Prize."   In our martial art training, we cover overall body conditioning and basic proper punch and kick form.   In our mental training, we understand that martial arts is a way of life not just learning how to fight.  Lastly, we understand that we learn confidence and standing up for your beliefs by being peaceful but powerful.
