Send us Fan MailPeaches sits down with Kaylon, a former Air Force Security Forces military working dog handler, dog trainer, and father of a 17-year-old preparing for Air Force Special Warfare. This episode is for the parents.Kaylon talks about his time as a Security Forces K9 handler at RAF Mildenhall, his deployment experience, working explosive detection dogs, and eventually transitioning into professional dog training. But the real focus of this conversation is what it feels like as a parent when your kid says, “I want to join the military,” and then starts looking at Air Force Special Warfare. They talk about how Kaylon's son went from considering Navy SEALs to discovering Combat Control, how the family handled that decision, why his mom supports him even while being nervous, and what parents should do when they do not fully understand the path their kid wants to take.Kaylon also breaks down why he sent his son to Operator Training Summit, what the experience did for him, how the cadre helped expose holes in his training, and why the event gave his son more confidence that this is the path he wants. If your son or daughter is talking about CCT, PJ, TACP, Special Reconnaissance, or any other military path that makes you nervous, this episode is a great place to start.Check out Tasty Gains: TastyGains.comRegister for Operator Training Summit: OperatorTrainingSummit.comJoin the Ones Ready membership for early access, members-only episodes, and exclusive content.Chapters:00:00 - Intro, Tasty Gains, and Operator Training Summit02:25 - Why This Episode Is for Parents02:45 - Meet Kaylon03:08 - Peaches and Kaylon at RAF Mildenhall03:41 - Security Forces and Military Working Dogs05:10 - EOD, K9 Handlers, and Career Field Banter06:12 - Mildenhall, Old Friends, and Trusting the Ones Ready Crew07:51 - Kaylon's Military Family Background08:01 - Joining the Air Force After 9/1109:42 - Giving His Son the Chance to Try09:56 - His Son's Interest in Special Operations11:26 - From Navy SEALs to Air Force Special Warfare12:27 - School, Homeschool, and Graduating Early14:45 - Mom's Support and Military Spouse Reality18:28 - What Parents Should Know When They Are Nervous20:14 - Why Parents Should Use Ones Ready as a Resource22:32 - Prior Military Parents and Steering Your Kid24:35 - Training Around Special Tactics at Mildenhall25:24 - CCT or Bust and Not Building an Escape Hatch27:21 - Why Every Air Force Job Matters28:56 - The Reality of Security Forces Shifts31:50 - Life as a Dog Handler33:57 - The Ugly Side of Working Dogs34:48 - Helping His Son Build a Network36:52 - Physical Training and Keeping a 17-Year-Old Honest39:12 - Lessons From the TF Voodoo Rucking Episode41:20 - Trash Hips and Mobility Work41:57 - What It Was Like Arriving at Operator Training Summit44:53 - Parents Sending Young Candidates to OTS47:00 - OTS Is Instruction, Not a Smoke Session48:52 - Why “Just Show Up and Don't Quit” Is Bad Advice49:20 - Why Kaylon Chose OTS Over Other Prep Camps50:25 - The Value of Real Instructors50:53 - Taylor Starch, Running Form, and Mobility55:10 - Advice for Parents Whose Kids Want to Join57:50 - Letting Your Kid Become Their Own Person01:01:37 - Recruiters, Contracts, and Ship Dates01:02:26 - Sitting Down With the Special Warfare Recruiter01:03:40 - TSP, Blended Retirement, and Money Lessons01:05:49 - Picking Battles in the Air Force01:07:55 - Kaylon's Son at OTS01:08:32 - Why OTS Validated the Goal01:09:57 - Trent, Peaches, and Cadre Mentorship01:11:20 - Finding Holes in Training01:12:31 - Final Thoughts and Wrap-UpSupport the showJoin this channel to get access to perks: HEREBuzzsprout Subscription page:  HERERegister for our Operator Training Summit:  OperatorTrainingSummit.comFind an Air Force Recruiter: AirForce.comCollabs:Ones Ready - OnesReady.com 18A Fitness - Promo Code:  ONESREADY ATACLete - Follow the URL (no promo code):  ATACLeteDanger Close Apparel - Promo Code:  ONESREADYDFND Apparel...

Guest BioBecki Rupp is a certified Personal Trainer and Adventure Travel Coach, and the founder of Trailblazer Wellness. Through her coaching, Becki helps travelers build the strength, stamina, and confidence they need to take on meaningful adventures without feeling overwhelmed by the physical or mental preparation. Her work is especially valuable for people preparing for big hikes, cycling trips, Camino-style journeys, Kilimanjaro, Machu Picchu, and other active travel experiences that stretch the edge of their comfort zone.Becki brings together personal training, coaching, and her own extensive adventure travel background. She has summited Kilimanjaro, hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, completed the Portuguese Camino from Porto to Santiago, and taken on numerous multi-day hiking and cycling trips around the world. Over the past several years, she has supported more than 100 clients preparing for adventures in 27 countries, helping them move from uncertainty to readiness so they can enjoy the journey before the journey — and the trip itself.Show SummaryIn this episode of the Big World Made Small Adventure Travel Podcast, host Jason Elkins speaks with Becki Rupp, founder of Trailblazer Wellness, about helping travelers prepare for the adventures they have dreamed about for years. Becki explains how adventure travel coaching goes beyond simply handing someone a workout plan. For many travelers, especially those joining group trips or taking on a physically demanding itinerary, the real work involves building confidence, managing fears, staying accountable, and learning how to enjoy the experience rather than worry about holding others back.Becki shares how her own path combined a lifelong curiosity about the world, a love of movement, and years of experience in fitness, coaching, and communications. From childhood memories of watching her grandparents' travel slideshows to eventually hiking iconic routes like Kilimanjaro, the Inca Trail, and the Camino, Becki's story reveals how travel, preparation, and personal growth can become deeply connected.Jason and Becki also explore the emotional side of adventure travel: why people worry about being last in the group, how partners and friends may not always know how to support a big travel dream, and why having someone in your corner can make the difference between merely completing a trip and truly experiencing it. Becki's approach helps travelers prepare their bodies while also reconnecting with the deeper reason they said yes to the adventure in the first place. Welcome back to another episode of EmpowereD with Deanna Merlino. This is Part 2 of my four-part conversation with my dear friend, Casey, and today we're diving into one of my favorite topics: identity.Because the truth is... every season of expansion asks us to become someone new.In this conversation, we're talking about what it actually looks like to move through life's portal moments - the seasons that crack you open, challenge everything you thought you knew, and ultimately invite you into a new version of yourself. We share our own experiences with grief, loss, forgiveness, boundaries, faith, and the healing that comes from allowing yourself to fully feel what you're moving through instead of trying to bypass it.Because healing isn't about pretending everything is okay. It's about having the courage to face what's true, release what no longer serves you, and trust that every challenge is expanding your capacity for more.If you've been navigating change, questioning who you're becoming, or feeling like life is asking you to let go of an old version of yourself, I think this conversation will meet you exactly where you are.My hope is that this episode reminds you that nothing happening to you is without purpose.Everything is inviting you deeper into who you were always meant to become.Let's dive in!--Let's connect! To see what else I'm up to, get more info on my latest offerings, and updates on my life and the podcast, follow me on Instagram: @thedeannamerlinoClick here to receive my FREE & potent Manifestation Vault with 15 tools! My hybrid group mentorship - The Expansion Room!Info and enrollment for WildFire, Quantum recalibration & Alchemical Immersion Retreat. All other programs/offerings: www.deannamerlino.com

What if the secret to calling in more isn't wanting more… but fully receiving what's already here?In this week's episode of EmpowereD with Deanna Merlino, I'm taking you behind the scenes of a recent family trip to Ohio and sharing one of the biggest reminders I received while I was there. We live in a world that constantly tells us to hi chase the next goal, the next milestone, the next level. And while I wholeheartedly believe in expansion, I also believe one of the most overlooked manifestation practices is learning to genuinely enjoy the life you're living right now.In this episode, we talk about the beauty of holding both.Luxury and simplicity. Growth and presence. Ambition and contentment. From quality time with family and reliving childhood memories to self-care, gratitude, and the little moments that make life so meaningful, I'm sharing why I believe true abundance isn't found in choosing one or the other - it's found in embracing all of it.Because life isn't meant to be one endless healing session or one endless pursuit of “more.”It's meant to be lived. When you can find joy in the ordinary, gratitude in the present, and peace in the season you're in while still dreaming bigger…That's freedom. And ironically, that's when life has a beautiful way of expanding right alongside you.I hope this episode reminds you to slow down, soak it all in, and remember that the life you've been praying for may already be unfolding around you.

Welcome back to The Empowered w/ Deanna Merlino Podcast! In this episode, I focus on the often-unspoken “sisterhood wound,” exploring the emotional challenges and personal growth that come from evolving friendships and seeking authentic connection. One concept I discuss is how personal change can shift relationship dynamics, sometimes leading to a necessary shedding of old friendships and the courage it takes to step into new, aligned circles. A key theme that comes through is the importance of healing childhood and adolescent wounds around belonging and acceptance, as well as questioning societal programming that pits women against each other. The discussion explored the power of embracing your true self, finding safety in vulnerability, and the collective potential that arises when women support and empower one another. I invite you to reflect on your own experiences and consider how releasing old patterns can lead to deeper, more fulfilling connections and a brighter, more empowered community - and us doing this TOGETHER.

Machine gun rounds took his right leg in Afghanistan. Nick Lavery decided that wasn't the end. He's an active-duty Green Beret with 5th Special Forces Group, and he went back to the teams as an above-the-knee amputee after a 14-week assessment designed to answer one question: asset or liability. In this conversation with Joe De Sena, Nick breaks down the hard part people miss. The low points. The doubts. The shift from proving himself to owning responsibility for the men beside him and their families. He explains why standards beat feelings, why emotion and logic can't drive the same decision, and why physical training is the most honest way to build mental toughness. You'll leave with practical rules for discipline, resilience, and performance under pressure, built from real stakes.   Things You Will Learn: How to transition from 'prove it' to ownership so your discipline holds when motivation collapses. How to separate emotion from decisions by letting a team or standard run the logic when you can't. How to use physical training as a daily discipline tool to build mental toughness that you can measure.   Tools & Frameworks Covered: Asset vs. Liability Standard: clarifies performance and responsibility under high stakes. Analysis vs. Dwelling Rule: turns setbacks into usable data instead of emotional loops. His goal is to elevate HEMA studies into a legitimate field of research within academic history and archaeology. Maciej is a member of HEMAtac, a HEMA coaching organization, and is a qualified Olympic fencing instructor in the Polish Fencing Association. He also runs the Sprechfenster blog on Patreon. Guy first came across Maciej's work through his article Probing the Depth of Medieval European Body Culture: Preliminary Research on Methods of Physical Training, 1250 to 1500. We talk about how Maciej got into historical martial arts, and a bit of background of the development of the HEMA scene in Poland. Both Maciej and Guy have experience of sport fencing, and we talk about how sport fencing coaching techniques can be beneficial in training historical fencing, giving you a framework for understanding concepts in historical fencing. Maciej sees HEMA as a grand project, with tournaments having a key place within this project. We discuss the benefits of the competitive environment, how it affects your training, and how it reveals the differences between what's in the fight books and how we practice sword fighting today. Guy talks himself into getting back into tournament fencing – for seniors only, mind you. We also discuss the topic of Maciej's article about medieval European body culture. In this week's episode, I talk about how chaos often precedes peace, freedom, love, and alignment. It's been a heavy week as I attended a family funeral and reflected on how grief changes our perception. During this time, I listened to my fav, Kathrin's podcast, and received timely reminders about growth during tough times. We're collectively experiencing turmoil, highlighted by recent disturbing events. Everything in life is interconnected—from the cosmic to the personal level—and many of us are facing personal challenges and other upheavals.Manifestation isn't just about the fun tools; it's about doing deep internal work. Chaos usually indicates that something better is on its way. For instance, losing a job might be making room for a bigger opportunity that aligns better with our true purpose. We face and overcome challenges to grow stronger, learning valuable lessons & becoming the best versions of ourselves along the way. It's crucial to stay grounded and focus on personal healing to be a light in dark times. All in all, I emphasize the importance of showing up, healing, expanding, and bringing our gifts to the world. Even when things seem bleak, everything is happening as it should. Let's commit to being the light and doing our part in the grand puzzle of life. Remember, we are all in this together.Stay strong and take care. Love you all!--Let's connect!

Socials: - IG: cesagracie - www.cesalina.com   - IG: team_neverquit   In this episode you will hear: • Back in the day, there were eighteen martial arts, different clans that had different practices in Japan, and they all ended with “Jitsu.” (7:08) • There are no bad kids. There's bad environments for kids. (10:41) • [Jiu Jitsu] is an equalizer of emotions for kids. Jiu Jitsu is gonna honor your personality. (11:04) • Nobody needs to tell us where you're gonna find the environment, because when you walk in, the systems that are in place teach you before you hear a word from your coach. (12:54) • [My grandfather] saw immediately what the power of that art was and the incredible responsibility that came with it. (13:45) • This [Jiu Jitsu] is a tool for self-development. I'm not here to learn how to fight. I'm here to feel powerful and feel capable without having to look powerful and look capable. (14:00) • That's the beautiful thing about Jiu Jitsu, is that it lives on the inside. (14:21) • [My family] proved the efficiency of Jiu Jitsu to the rest of the world. (20:43) • If the whole world learns these tools, we're gonna live in a society that is more peaceful, that is more respectful, because when you have human beings that are self-confident and compassionate, you start changing the way we interact with each other, and we start changing the way we live our lives. (21:19) • As a grown up, I understand the difference between winners and champions. (30:06) • The most important thing about Jiu Jitsu that it builds and internal constitution that is so strong that you can deal with anything in life. (36:32) • The greatest value of Jiu Jitsu is applied outside of the mat. (40:36) • Ultimately, the greatest skill you can have is awareness. (44:01) • We have to be brutally honest with ourselves as to where we're standing in life. (55:32) • What's actually gonna take you to the top are the mindsets that you've created in your journey in Jiu Jitsu. (1:01:58) • [While climbing Mount Everest] the one question that I did not ask myself was “should I go back to Everest Base Camp?” (1:03:16) • Another part that was really hard [while climbing Mount Everest] was when I saw dead bodies in the mountain for the first time. (1:03:28) • I hope everyone gets to experience something in their lives that they have a hard time describing. (1:10:30) • When I got back to base camp, I immediately called my family, because I didn't tell anybody I was climbing Mount Everest. (1:20:29) • Champions are still champions even when they lose. (1:25:35) • When you have confidence in yourself, you solve so many problems. (1:54:35)
