Have you ever felt that way about anything before? The Prophet Ezekiel felt that way while he was an exile in the land of Babylon.He hadbeen captured and taken away by the Babylonians when he was around 25 years old in around 597BC. Thenin 586BC, while still a captive in Babylon, he and the other Jewish captivesheard the terrible news that their beloved city, Jerusalem, and the beautiful Temple of Solomon, had been utterly and completely destroyed by the Babylonians after the remaining Jews in their homeland had rebelled against Babylonian rule. They felt that their nation would never rise again and all was lost. It was in this dark moment that God gave Ezekiel the vision of The Valley of Dry Bones and most importantly a message of Hope to those to whomAll Hope was Lost. That message was not only to the ancient Jews, but it is a message that God still is speaking to you and I today.

Sometimes our burdens can seem too heavy to bear any longer. But in the story of Jacob's Ladder in Genesis 28, we find a lesson in how to turn our burdens into a blessing.

Habakkuk had a head problem, he didn't understand what God was doing. But Daniel had a different kind of problem, he had a hostility problem, he lived out his faith in a hostile environment where people tried to use his faith in God to destroy him. In the classic story of Daniel in the Lion's Den we learn from an old man how to live out our faith in a hostile environment.

David was a passionate man and a musician. Many of the events in his life can be seen through the songs he wrote that we know as The Psalms of David. In this sermon we take a look at some of the main events in the life of David as seen through his Psalms. We find a common theme in all of them. In every circumstance, whether David was giving praise to God for deliverance, asking God for help, or pleading to God for forgiveness, through it all, David never lost his faith in God. Perhaps that is the greatest lesson we can learn from the story of this imperfect servant of God:Have Faith in God.....no matter what the circumstance, or what the trail.

However he gave us perhaps the best example in all of the Bible on how to repent and get back up when we have fallen down. Today we look at Psalm 51, David's prayer of repentance.

Have you ever wondered why God seemingly would not give you what you desperately wanted even though it seemed to be a good and Godly desire? What do we do when God says no?

David had to wait 20 years from the time he was first promised he would be King of all Israel (around 17 years old) until it came to pass (when he was 37 years old) We must learn the lesson of patience and trusting God to bring His will to pass. Remember during those 20 years David had opportunities to “hurry things along” by killing Saul, but he refused. He left it in God’s hands and allowed God’s timing to work out. We mustlearn the same lesson of patient trusting in God’s timing and trust our future to Him.

If you and your wife are trying to decide what color to paint your living room, a little compromise would probably help your marriage, but if you are sterilizing surgical equipment, a little compromise could cost your patient their life. David learns the cost of the bad kind of compromise.

That Psalm was not doubt a reflection of a crisis that David was facing in his life, but through the power of the Holy Spirit, that Psalm had a deeper meaning. It pointed to the The Great Shepherd, The Son of David, who would one day, give His life for the sheep on a rugged Roman cross, a means of execution, not yet invented, when David penned Psalm 22, but yet clearly explained in the words of The Gospel According to David.

David found himself in this situation and had to Learn to Lean on The Lord.
