Garth Heckman TDAgiantSlayer@gmail.com The David Alliance The Journey Away: Understanding Why Individuals Leave the Christian Faith Understanding the Journey Away from Faith Faith deconstruction, within the context of Christianity, refers to a process where individuals critically examine and potentially reject the religious beliefs they once held as true…. I don't believe it is a critically examined decision. I think 100% of the time it is emotional. Remember what Fatigue makes cowards out of all of us. Vince Lombardi… I feel it is the same way when we walk away. We become fatigued in our walk. We let the struggles of life beat us up and drain us. We want a quick fix, we want a “feel good moment”, we have dissapointments… but they are all based on our feelings. Seeds of Doubt and Disillusionment start out as feelings from things that did not go our way. One significant factor involves negative experiences with the church itself. The role of parental influence and the strength of religious reinforcement during childhood also play a critical part in the development and retention of faith. If Mom and Dad do not have an active vibrant and powerful walk with God… you are more prone to walk away or at least never dive in deep. Moreover, higher education and exposure to diverse perspectives can introduce substantial challenges to established religious beliefs. The experience of being challenged with new ideas and concepts that contradict religious teachings, often encountered in college or university settings, is a significant factor in the rejection of religious beliefs. deconversion process. The Weight of Experience: How Personal Struggles Can Erode Faith Personal experiences, especially those involving suffering and disappointment, can significantly erode an individual's faith. Trauma, loss, and the perception of unanswered prayers often prompt individuals to question their relationship with God and the tenets of their Christian belief. Similarly, the experience of perceived unanswered prayers can lead to feelings of doubt and abandonment, or question the efficacy of prayer itself and the nature of God's involvement in the world. Intellectual Challenges to Christian Beliefs Intellectual challenges pose a significant hurdle for some individuals in maintaining their Christian faith. Conflicts between religious dogma and scientific understanding, particularly concerning the origins of the universe and life (e.g., evolution versus creationism, the age of the earth) , also contribute to a shift away from faith. Furthermore, the intellectual struggle with the problem of evil – The Social Landscape: Influence of Community and Culture on Faith Social and cultural factors wield considerable influence on an individual's faith journey and can significantly contribute to the decision to walk away from Christianity. Interactions with people holding different beliefs can challenge the exclusivity claims often made by Christianity. Emotional and Psychological Aspects of Faith Deconstruction The process of faith deconstruction is often accompanied by a complex array of emotional and psychological experiences.Feelings of guilt may arise from questioning or doubting long-held beliefs, often deeply ingrained by religious teachings that emphasize unwavering faith. This internalized pressure can lead to significant anxiety and the fear of divine punishment or social ostracism. Phases of Transition: Understanding the Stages of Moving Away from Faith Individuals moving away from their Christian faith often go through a series of stages or phases. The process typically begins with initial questioning and doubt, often triggered by specific events, intellectual challenges, or personal struggles. This initial phase can be marked by cognitive dissonance and a struggle to reconcile emerging uncertainties with existing beliefs. Following this, individuals may enter a stage of exploration, actively seeking out alternative perspectives and critically evaluating religious doctrines. This involves intellectual engagement with viewpoints that differ from their religious upbringing and a willingness to examine the foundational tenets of Christian belief. Some would say that the process of walking away from God is a multi faceted process with many limbs and tentacles and can happen in many many ways… I think it is more simplistic than that…. I believe it truly comes down to The Impact of Isolation from other believers. We see people all the time who become separated and secluded from others and that is the first step to walking from their faith. I don't just mean alone, but alone with the wrong people. Isolation causes inflammation of ones of ones information. Meaning when we see only one side of life, problems, religions, and we isolate ourselves form solid Christian relationships - these things become inflamed and infected in our psyche and soul and spirit. Slowly killing us. Why is scripture so strategic in continuing to meet as believers and that we are a body… because God in his infinite wisdom knows that isolation kills us. Stay plugged in, stay in church, stay in your bible study, stay in your Xn friends lives.
Futurum CEO Daniel Newman believes "tech will be strong again," investors just need to "deconstruct" the Mag 7 and consider possible consumer pressures. That's why Daniel likes Microsoft (MSFT) and Nvidia (NVDA) through their profit exposure to enterprises. On Broadcom (AVGO), Daniel expects the company to supply infrastructure other Big Tech companies like Alphabet (GOOGL) will need. He still expects Apple (AAPL) to act as a long-term safety play.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. Okay wow… we're really doing this. This is our last episode under the Deconstruct to Curiocity umbrella — and we're feeling all the feelings. This podcast has been a journey. We started Deconstruct back in 2019 when we were deep in the process of publicly questioning, evolving, and reimagining what faith, spirituality, and life even meant to us. It was raw, it was vulnerable, and it brought so many of you into our lives who were walking through the exact same thing. We'll always be grateful for that.By 2023, things shifted — as they do — and we evolved into Curiocity, a space where curiosity (get it?) led the way. We explored wellness, healing, self-awareness, and whatever rabbit hole we found ourselves down that week. Less deconstructing, more rebuilding — and you came with us there too.So whether you've been here since the very beginning or just stumbled upon us during your morning walk (or scroll), we just want to say: thank you. Seriously. Thank you for listening, for growing with us, for being open, and for letting us be in your ears and your hearts through it all.If you're looking to revisit: • Deconstruct-era episodes: Scroll back to anything from 2019–2022 • Curiocity-era episodes: You'll find those from 2023–2024And if you want to stay up to date with whatever's next (because we're not going anywhere forever), follow me over on Instagram: @laurendelearyWe love you guys. We mean it.— Lauren (& Adam)

Should Christians Deconstruct Their Faith? Do you have a loved one who is deconstructing their faith, and are you struggling to know how to respond? Are you trying to understand the radical spiritual makeover your friend or family member is going through? Maybe your relationship with a loved one has been strained or even cut off because of your “toxic” Christian beliefs and you don't know what to do. Maybe you're experiencing doubt yourself and facing hard questions about truth, God, the Bible, theology and the gospel. In this timely interview Jonathan Morrow talks with popular author and speaker Alisa Childers about these and other important questions.A movement called ‘deconstruction' is sweeping through our churches and it is affecting our loved ones. It has disrupted, dismantled, and destroyed the faith of so many, and this book can help you not only understand what's happening but also stand your ground and respond with clarity and confidence. Some who leave the faith feel wounded by the church. Others feel repressed by some of the moral imperatives found in Scripture. For some, it leads to a custom-made spirituality. For others, deconstructing their faith leads them away from the truth into agnosticism, atheism, the occult, or humanism.Get the new book - The Deconstruction of Christianity: What It Is, Why It's Destructive, and How to Respond by Alisa Childers and Tim BarnettAbout the Book:This book will help you understand what deconstruction is, where it comes from, why it is compelling to some, and how it disorients the lives of so many. You will be able to think through the main issues around faith deconstruction and explore wise and loving ways to respond from a biblical worldview.

Thousands of oil and gas rigs are becoming redundant around the world – and taking them out of service, known as decommissioning, is a multi-billion dollar business. It's also a complex operation beset by sometimes opposing interests. In this programme, we meet the makers of the world's biggest ship - a machine at the cutting edge of rig removal, and the visit the port that can recycle over 95% of a rig. As concerns grow over delays to decommissioning in the North Sea and Gulf of Mexico, we look into whether enough progress is being made with removing old rigs around the world.Produced and presented by Laura Heighton-Ginns(Image: The Brent Bravo topside oil platform is transported on the barge ‘Iron Lady' into the mouth of the River Tees on route to the Able UK Seaton Port site for decommissioning on June 20, 2019 in Teesport, England. Chris Timmerman is a neuroscientist with a deep interest in phenomenology—what's actually happening in our minds during psychedelic experiences. He leads the DMT Research Group at Imperial College, where he's found that a single psychedelic experience can transform a person's belief system, often turning materialists into panpsychists. In this wide-ranging conversation, Steve talks with Chris about everything from fractals and ayahuasca ceremonies to whether scientists who study psychedelics should talk openly about their own experiences.Original Air Date: March 01, 2025Guests: Chris TimmermanMore from Luminous: ttbook.org/luminous

The latest In Touch With iOS with Dave he is joined by Marty Jencius, Jeff Gamet, and Ben Roethig. We explore the latest Apple technology updates, highlighting visionOS 2.3.1 for VisionPro, new design patents for advanced features like tunable lenses, and the potential for a demo app for third-party retail sales. We discuss a protective case for the VisionPro, essential security updates in iOS 18.4, and user trends such as unconventional Apple Watch usage. Anticipation builds around the iPhone SE 4, with hopes for modern features, while speculation surrounds Apple's integration of Pixelmator into its ecosystem The show notes are at InTouchwithiOS.com Direct Link to Audio Links to our Show Give us a review on Apple Podcasts! We kick off with a discussion on the recent VisionPro updates, particularly the release of visionOS 2.3.1, which introduces security fixes while continuing to integrate more cohesively with Apple's suite of devices. Marty highlights how Apple is aligning updates across their product line, making it easier for users to manage their devices. Transitioning to patents, we explore Apple's recent acquisition of various design patents for significant advancements in VisionPro technology, including tunable lenses and gaze tracking features. This conversation veers into technical territory, as we dissect the implications of these innovations and the potential they hold for enhancing user experiences. Jeff adds his thoughts, emphasizing the importance of protecting intellectual property in the tech landscape. The discussion shifts to hardware, specifically the introduction of a protective case for the VisionPro that allows for uninterrupted functionality without hampering the device's sensors. Marty shares his anticipation for using it, reinforcing the practicality of such accessories that meet user needs without compromising on functionality. Moving onto the world of software, Dave brings to light a newly discovered demo app available in the App Store, suggesting that Apple may soon enable third-party retailers to sell the VisionPro through this application. Marty expresses skepticism while acknowledging the potential market expansion this could offer. The episode delves into the significance of security updates with announcements surrounding beta releases for iOS 18.4. Jeff posits that the necessity for these updates stems from critical security flaws that Apple needed to address, while the group acknowledges the absurdity of waiting to update due to potential bugs in new versions. In a lighter vein, the hosts discuss quirky user behaviors, such as wearing the Apple Watch on the ankle instead of the wrist—highlighting various reasons behind this trend, including styling choices and practicality—while clarifying that this approach might not yield accurate fitness tracking results. One of the highlights of the show is the discussion around Apple's long-overdue feature allowing users to migrate digital purchases between Apple accounts. Dave outlines the complexity involved and potential pitfalls, gathering insight from the group about the challenges they faced while navigating the system, as well as concerns over Apple Music subscriptions complicating the process. Northern also serves as a platform to discuss systemic changes within macOS, particularly regarding app access in older systems, and the importance of upgrading to stay secure and functional in a rapidly evolving tech landscape. Wrapping up, the hosts touch on the much-anticipated announcement of a new member of the iPhone family. Speculation suggests the introduction of the iPhone SE 4, with updates potentially signaling the end of the smaller device trend in favor of larger screens. As the conversation evolves, the hosts express their desire for this new device to incorporate modern features like USB-C and advanced camera technology. Finally, discussions around the acquisition of Pixelmator lead to speculations on how Apple might integrate this photo editing software into its existing ecosystem without compromising the standalone appeal that Pixelmator has cultivated. We then shift our focus to Apple's strategic moves within the AR and VR landscape. The team examines analyst Mark Gurman's insights on the future of Vision Pro, considering the potential for a more affordable headset to cater to a broader audience and how it may impact the existing technology. Chuck and Marty share their thoughts on the contrasting narratives within the industry regarding the evolution of AR, with some advocating for a shift back to Touch ID while others are optimistic about Face ID advancements.
