Today in History: The ninth plague (darkness) struck Egypt on this day (according to tradition, see Exodus 10:21–23). The Prophet Ezekiel received a prophecy against the kingdom of Egypt. God gave him seven prophecies against Egypt and almost all of them mention the date (see Ezekiel 32:1–2). Shabbat Shkalim (Sabbath of Shekels) falls on (or just before) the 1st of Adar (or Adar II). It adds a special reading from Exodus 30:11–16. This helped remind the men of Israel to give half a shekel to sup- port the Temple in time for Passover. In Temple times, the money was collected at this time of year. This week's portion is called “Trumah” (Contribution). Think about: What Scripture spoke to you most today and why? This lesson deals with God's judgment and our attitude towards it. God set the Prophet Ezekiel as a watchman over Israel. "Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts {or borders}, and set him for their watchman: If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blows the trumpet, and warn the people" (Ezekiel 33:2-3). It's crucial that we heed these warnings.
A Sunday morning sermon by Pastor Brett Deal. When our kids were little one, of our favorite movies to watch as a family was Enchanted. Like The Little Mermaid, it has memorable music and a compelling “fish out of water” story. There is a hilarious part of the film where Giselle (the cartoon protagonist who was pushed into the real world by an evil queen) is walking through Central Park with Philip, the unsuspecting lawyer who found her lost in the rain. In the middle of their conversation, not accustomed to the real world, she breaks out into song. Before Philip can stop her, hundreds of other park-goers join in! In her book, Re-Enchanting the Text, Cheryl Bridges Johns explains what she means when she refers to enchantment. “The word enchantment comes from the Latin verb cantare (to sing) preceded by the preposition in- (into): incantare… At its root, enchantment means the experience of ‘finding oneself in a song' or ‘to sing into.' An enchanted world is one in which there is harmony.” This exactly what we find in the movie: people who've become disenchanted by life and the rough and tumble existence of the world, re-enchanted by a person with a song to sing. For the Prophet Ezekiel, he doesn't find himself in a park with dancing octogenarians and a mariachi band (seriously, go watch the movie). No, Ezekiel finds himself in a valley of dry bones (Ezekiel 37). And yet, in this place with God on a lifeless battlefield, Ezekiel finds himself re-enchanted. He spoke forth the prophetic word given to Him by God. Over and over again he says, “Thus says the Lord God” and watches in awe as bones are bound back to one another by sinew and skin. He marvels as wind sweeps into reborn lungs when, at the height of God's resurrection music, the Lord reveals the meaning of this vision. This vision is for Ezekiel, yes, but it is also for all God's exiled people. God is re-enchanting the Text. Through Ezekiel's song, God is re-enchanting the Torah. Just as the first vision stirred our imaginations with the past and the Passover (Exodus 12), so this vision reminds us of God in the Garden bringing His image bearer's breathless body to life (Genesis 2.7). Beloved, what is the song God is singing over your life? How is He drawing you away from the cruel comfort of isolation into the re-animated joy of community? As a church, how is God calling us to sing together?
22 But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, "Why are you reasoning in your hearts? 23 Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Rise up and walk'? The four men brought their friend to Jesus to be heal. After making their way through the crowd, getting him up on the roof, breaking a hole in it and then lowering him down to Jesus something very interesting took place. Jesus could have simply healed the man and sent him home, but instead, He used the opportunity to teach a lesson about sin and forgiveness. Jesus looked at the paralyzed man, saw his faith, saw the faith of his friends, and said, "Man, your sins are forgiven you" (5:20). The people present were astounded and the Pharisees pricked up their ears. The man himself was evidently greatly conscious of sin in his life, so the Lord's words were as a balm to his soul. The critical Pharisees in the guest room, however, could hardly believe that this young preacher from Nazareth had spoken blasphemy! Waiting for more, they held their tongues, but their thoughts were transparent enough, especially to Jesus. They no doubt were thinking, “What a copout! Here these fellows had brought this paralytic for healing, and He simply changed the subject. Any preacher could say, "Your sins are forgiven"—if he didn't mind being charged with the capital offence of blasphemy. Well, He might have been able to fool these ignorant Galileans with such a slick trick, but He doesn't fool us. But, "Jesus perceived [read] their thoughts" (5:22). They were thinking, "Who is this which speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?" (5:21). The Lord continued, "Why are you reasoning in your hearts? Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Rise up and walk'?” (5:23). Naturally, they thought it much easier to pretend to forgive a man's sins than to heal his obvious paralysis. Jesus then turned to the man even as He spoke to His critics: But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins"--He said to the man who was paralyzed, "I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house." (5:24). In Luke 5:24, we have the first recorded use of the title Son of man in Luke's Gospel, where it is found twenty-three times. Our Lord's listeners were familiar with this title. It was used of the Prophet Ezekiel over eighty times, and Daniel applied it to the Messiah (Dan. 7:13, 18). "Son of man" was our Lord's favorite name for Himself; this title is found at least eighty-two times in the Gospel record. Occasionally He used the title "Son of God" (Matt. 27:43; Luke 22:70; John 5:25; 9:35; 10:36; 11:4), but "Son of man" was used more. Certainly the Jewish people caught the messianic character of this title, but it also identified Him with the people He came to save (Luke 19:10). Like Ezekiel, the Old Testament "son of man," Jesus "sat where they sat" (Ezek. 3:15). The healing was immediate, and the man rose to his feet, took up his bedroll, and headed for home, glorifying God. But even more than receiving healing, the man experienced forgiveness and the start of a whole new life. Our Lord's miracles not only demonstrated His deity and His compassion for needy people, but they also revealed important spiritual lessons about salvation. They were "object lessons" to teach spiritually blind people what God could do for them if only they would believe in His Son. With His Word Jesus spoke the world into existence (John 1:1-4). To heal a paralyzed man was easy but to forgive a man for his sins, the work of salvation, is beyond our human comprehension! God becomes flesh, suffers on a cross and sheds His blood to purchase our redemption! Then conquers death and hell with His resurrection! Which do you think is easier? God bless!

In Joshua chapter one, God gives Israel a new leader, Joshua, to replace Moses and to lead them victory in the Promise Land. When we become a Christian, we have a new leader in our lives, Jesus Christ!!! God also gives Israel a new land that He had promised to their forefathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God had made this promise to Abraham some four-hundred and forty years earlier. God always keeps His promises. This piece of property that God promised to Israel is about 85 miles (east to west) at its widest point, and 290 miles long north to south. It is not very big as far as countries go, but it is very special and very important! It is no doubt one of the most controversial and contested pieces of real estate in the history of the world. The story line of the Bible centers around this land! The Prophet Ezekiel called the land of Israel "the glory of all lands" (Ezekiel 20:6, 15), which is also translated "the most beautiful of all lands." Daniel calls it "the pleasant land" in Daniel 8:9. In Daniel 11:16 and 41, he calls it "the glorious land". In the first five books of the Bible, it is often it is described as "a land flowing with milk and honey" (Exodus 3:8, 17; 13:5; 33:3; Leviticus 20:24; Numbers 13:27; Deuteronomy 6:3; 11:9). This was a proverbial statement meaning "a land of plenty," a place of peaceful pastures and gardens where the herds could graze, and the bees could gather pollen and make honey. The Prophet Ezekiel also said that Jerusalem was "in the center of the nations" (Ezekiel 5:5 NIV), and that the land of Israel was "the center of the world" (38:12, NASB). The Hebrew word translated "center" also means "navel," suggesting that Israel was the "lifeline" between God and this world. Remember Jesus Himself said in John 4:22, that "salvation is of the Jews". God chose the land of Israel to be the "stage" on which the great drama of redemption would be presented. In Genesis 3:15, God had promised Adam and Eve that He would send a Savior to the world; and the first step in the fulfilling of that promise was the call of Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3. God promised Abraham that through his seed “all the families of the earth would be blessed.” The Old Testament record focuses on the fulfillment of His promise to Abraham through the Jews and the land of Israel. Abraham left Ur of the Chaldees to go to that new land, and there Isaac and Jacob were born. God also announced that the Redeemer would come from the tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:10). Later in 2 Samuel 7, through Nathan the prophet, God promised David that from his seed would come a King who would forever sit on his throne. God prophesied through Isaiah that the Messiah would be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14). Through Micah the prophet, God said the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2). Isaiah also prophesied in Isaiah 53, that one day the Messiah would die for the sins of the world. In Psalms 22, David prophesied and described the Messiah's crucifixion in detail. All these important events in the drama of redemption would take place in the land of Israel, the land that Joshua was called to conquer and claim. Whatever God makes special and promises, you can be sure the devil will attempt to do all he can to stop and destroy it! That's why the Christian life is so difficult, and the Church of Jesus is always under assault. Even today the conflict in Israel attest to this truth. But be assured, God always keeps His promises despite the devil's attacks! My friend, I believe that all the events taking place in the world today is only setting everything up for the “Second Coming” of the Lord Jesus Christ to ultimately fulfill all His promises to Israel in His Millennium reign on the throne of David in Jerusalem! Jesus told us in Matthew 24:44, “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” Are you ready? God bless!
A Sunday sermon by Pastor Brett Deal. The Old Testament gives us two powerful images of creation and re-creation. The first is in the book of Genesis as God breathes life into humanity (Genesis 2.7). Imagine the picture the Torah paints for us of the dirt and clay of this earth being shaped and formed in the hands of God, then breathed to life and meaning and purpose by His Spirit. The same Spirit that moved over the waters filled the lung capacity of Adam and brought him to life. The second is long after the creation, long after the fall of humanity in sin, long after death has entered the world. Generations have come and gone since the time of Adam and Eve. Father to son, mother to daughter across the millennia. Dust to dust. And then, God takes the Prophet Ezekiel to a valley filled with dry bones and tells him to see the lifeless field around him and call to them to hear the word of the Lord (Ezekiel 37.5). In Ezekiel's obedience, God promises to breathe His Spirit out over the creation that has wasted away, to bring about resurrection, re-creation. This makes what happens in the New Testament so profound! After the tragedy of Golgotha, where Jesus the Messiah was nailed to the cross and crucified; after His body was placed lifeless in the tomb, the disciples found themselves—much like Ezekiel—walking dazed and confused in a valley of broken dreams and breathless confusion. What had once been vibrant was now devastated. What they needed was to see Jesus, to be near Him. They needed to have their anxious and fearful hearts set to rest and feel the move of His Spirit. Friends, it's the same thing we need today. May we find Jesus, full of life and speaking peace over our fears, as we gather this Sunday to read John 20.19-23.

As shepherds seek out their flocks when they are among their scattered sheep, so I will seek out my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places to which they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness. I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring them into their own land; and I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the watercourses, and in all the inhabited parts of the land. I will feed them with good pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel shall be their pasture; there they shall lie down in good grazing land, and they shall feed on rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I will make them lie down, says the Lord GOD. I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, but the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them with justice. Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD to them: I myself will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep. Because you pushed with flank and shoulder, and butted at all the weak animals with your horns until you scattered them far and wide, I will save my flock, and they shall no longer be ravaged; and I will judge between sheep and sheep. I will set up over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he shall feed them: he shall feed them and be their shepherd. In this homily given at St. Pat's on Sunday, September 10th, 2023 Deacon Joshua Fons preaches on how the call of the Prophet Ezekiel to be a watchman is a call for all of us today. He lays out practical ways that we can be watchman over our own hearts and minds, and those of our family's, in a culture that is growing increasingly hostile to the Faith.
Thus says the Lord to the Prophet Ezekiel, "when you hear me say anything, you shall warn them for me. If I tell the wicked, "O wicked one, you shall surely die," and you do not speak out to dissuade the wicked from his way, the wicked shall die for his guilt, but I will hold you responsible for his death!" In this episode I peel back the veil to reveal a sinister reality we cannot ignore - the exploitation of children. Given the gravity of this issue, I felt compelled to share my experience of confronting those who attempted to stifle my public discourse on this troubling matter. As we explore this topic, we highlight our collective responsibility, echoing the teachings from the book of Ezekiel, to protect the innocent and stand firm against the forces of evil.Diving into this Sunday's scriptures, we examine the profound lessons from Ezekiel, the Psalms, and St. Paul...a call for us to defend the vulnerable starts by embracing the sacrifice of Christ, our yes, our Fiat... so as to win the battle of our own hearts! Our courage to stand for all that is true, good and beautiful flows from the water and blood of His pierced heart on the Cross. Finally we thank you for support! Timothy Mahoney and Dr. Fred Baltz continue their discussion on how to view UAPs, formerly known as UFOs, from a Biblical perspective. Certain voices in the culture have attempted to insert the notion of extraterrestrial encounters into the Bible. Passages like the Prophet Ezekiel's vision of the wheel within the wheel and even the Ark of the Covenant have been claimed to be alien technology. Is this true or have modern concepts been inaccurately applied to the Biblical text? How were these passages understood by the ancient audience they were written to? Tim and Dr. Baltz also elaborate further on the spiritual and possibly angelic connection to these strange lights and objects seen by many in the sky. In the Vidi Aquam we sing, "I beheld water that proceeded from the Temple, on the right side thereof: and all they to whom that water came were healed, everyone." These words come from the Prophet Ezekiel in Ezekiel 47 and are fulfilled on the day of Pentecost. Jesus said in the Gospel of St. John chapter 7, "He that believes in Me, as Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." The next verse tells us that this He spoke concerning the Holy Spirit Who would be poured on on the Day of Pentecost. We are the Temple, Christ's Body upon the earth, from which flows living waters for the salvation of souls until He comes again. Today we embrace the truth of God's Divine wisdom and plan to make us earthen vessels that contain this living water. Through us, He intends to heal the soul of all mankind and restore humanity to its originally created state.
The teachers explore the Book of the Prophet Ezekiel, into chapter 33, and what is probably one of the most clear metaphors - to us, hopefully - in Scripture: the 'Watchman on the Wall.'
What was so dear to the Prophet Ezekiel that he had to give up (Ezekiel 24)? Find out with Nathan Jones and Vic Batista on the podcast, The Truth Will Set You Free!
"Can these bones live again?" That is the question put to the Prophet Ezekiel in Ezekiel 37 as he looked over a valley of skeletal remains. Ezekiel cannot answer, because there is nothing he can do. He can only entrust God with all future possibilities. If there will be life in the afterword of disaster, it will be because of what God knows and what God does. Ronnie says of this encounter, "When we accept what is otherwise unacceptable, because we have no power over it, that becomes the space where the power of God can work. For when something is truly dead - and we know it - and we are no longer attempting to do the work of resurrection by our own strength - then whatever it is, might be remade, it might be reborn, by that higher power outside of ourselves."
Christianity has no issue with the concept of resurrection. It is the fundamental tenant of our common faith that all men will be raised from the dead as the free gift of Jesus Christ. What is stranger is that Judaism has no concept of the resurrection today. Because of scriptures like Ezekiel 37, in Jesus's Day, Jewry was spilt into two camps on this issue. The Pharisees believed in a coming resurrection while the Sadducees did not. You can remember this with the corny saying, “The Sadducees didn't believe in the resurrection, which is why they are sad-you-see.” In truth, there is nothing sadder than a modern Jewish funeral. The terrible loss of loved ones, combined with the firm belief that they will never see them again, makes for a darkness that is tragic. Dem Bones, Dry Bones or Dem Dry Bones is a well-known traditional spiritual song. The melody was written by James Weldon Johnson (1871–1938) and his brother, J. Rosamond Johnson. It is another example of the rich tradition of purely American music. It takes its lyrics from the Prophet Ezekiel. We are happy to announce that the author's latest book Elijah the Prophet is now available on Amazon. The Torah teachers look at the Book of the Prophet Ezekiel, and continue the study from chapter 25 into 26. Where the judgments against places and peoples like Ammon, Edom, and Tyre - and the reasons WHY - should all send a shiver down the spine of those who consider abortion, genocide, and otherwise just rooting for the death of the innocent, a 'sacrament.'
How you ever found yourself in a situation like this? Everything around you is dead? In other words, nothing is working and nothing is happening. Everything around you looks hopeless and helpless. Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you felt like there was no way out? Have you ever thought to yourself, “what am I going to do to get out of this?”. This is the situation that the Prophet Ezekiel is looking at in Ezekiel 37:1-10. There was death everywhere. No situation could be more hopeless than this; But God. Through His intervention, this dead army was resurrected by His great and mighty power. If He could do that to those dry bones, He can do that to your dead and dry situation as well. So, the question is, how did this change take place? We're going to review that right now.

God often had Old Testament Prophets do difficult, and even bizarre, things. And nowhere do we see that more than with the Prophet Ezekiel. In this episode, we delve into a very odd passage where God tells Ezekiel to tell the exiles of Judah in Babylon about the forthcoming siege of Jerusalem and the dire consequences the people will face, by first, performing dramatic theater for the people, then by lying on the ground on either of his sides while tied up in ropes, and then by drinking a small amount of water, and baking an unusual cake of bread over human excrement! Why would God have Ezekiel do these things and use such bizarre methods to give the people His message? What does this passage tell us about prophets? What does this passage have to do with us today? And finally, why is this passage in the Bible?!Thanks for tuning in! Be sure to check out everything Proverbs 9:10 on our website, www.proverbs910ministries.com! Fr. Apostolos Hill speaks about the Parable of the Good Samaritan and the image of the man beset by robbers on the road down to Jericho. This is about the lethal reality of sin as the Prophet Ezekiel stated "the soul that sinneth, it shall die," and the totally effective cure available in the blood of the Christ.

Welcome to International Christian Church Sunday service! We are glad that you joined us to celebrate Jesus! Thank you for watching us live! we hope this message from our Pastor blesses you. Scripture: Ezekiel 47:6-9&12 (NLT) God used Ezekiel when Jerusalem had just been wiped out. The Babylonians have wasted the city and destroyed the temple. The people are grieving and mourning, oppressed and discouraged. During that dark time God showed a vision to Prophet Ezekiel, a river of healing. We see a miraculous river that flows from beneath the door of the temple and passing to the right of the altar on its south side to Jerusalem out to the wilderness and to the forsaken places. The Lord showed Ezekiel the better day that's coming. Likewise the Lord wants to remind us better days are coming. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled,” Jesus declared- Matthew 5:6 Who is filled? Those who hunger and thirst for more of God. If you're satisfied with where you're at, you'll never receive more. It's when you say, “I'm tired of the death, the dryness, the impotency, the inability within me and around me. I want more of the Lord. I need more of the Lord,” that the river begins to flow. "I will pour water on him that is thirsty and floods upon the dry ground."- Isaiah 44:3. God bless! The Torah teachers continue the study of the Book of the Prophet Ezekiel into chapter 14. Yes, the parallels with modern paganism certainly continue. But, perhaps most importantly, it becomes clear -- if we "diligently seek Him" -- that idols of "wood and stone," and the false prophets and priests that worshiped them, are pikers compared to the 'prophets of the Big Lie' today. Fr. Mike compares the messages of Isaiah and Ezekiel, one coming from a pre-exile time and the other from a post-exile time. Even though they are coming from two very different points in salvation history, they both are persistent in speaking the Word of God, and sharing his consolation with the people of Israel. In Episode 101, we talk about the first part of two revival sermons conducted at the Pathway Church. Looking at the state of affairs in our country, society, and culture, our main and only hope right now is revival. We look into one of the case studies of the Bible, under a king named Manasseh.God retaliated upon King Manasseh for his sins. He let his adversaries overcome him. They kidnapped him and took him in chains to Babylon, where he worked as a slave. Manasseh, on the other hand, eventually repented of his sins and sought God for forgiveness and revival.True revival occurs when God preached with the good news of His redemption. It always starts with His people being deeply convicted of sin and turning away from it in real repentance. It always entails the rediscovery of biblical truth, particularly the truth about how sinners are reconciled to God.Tune in now and let's go bigger, better, and deeper!
