The lightskin train is back with part 2! This week, my frat brother and one of my closest homies came through again to bless me with his presence. If Avery's name sounds familiar, it's because he was one of my first guests when I started this project over a year ago. The first episode was a bit wild but so much can change in a year! This episode was more about transparency and accountability from two black men. I was especially proud of Avery for being so open about things most men don't speak on such as his struggle with abandonment trauma, isolation and many other things in which black men struggle with. In the beginning of the episode I mentioned how if you want to see change in the world, you have to look at the person in the mirror first. Avery exemplified what that concept means. Even with the laughs and stories we shared on this episode, I'm grateful for friends like Avery to keep things honest and authentic in tough discussions such as these! Tap in and be inspired!

I know, I know...you're reading the title and probably a tad bit perplexed. Trust me, it'll make sense after you listen lol.  We're back with another episode! This week I had my longtime friend Alex come through! I've known Alex since our college days and to see his progress from the shore days up to now has been nothing short of amazing to witness. Now for the most part, as it says in the title of the podcast, I try to be 95% genuine in the content I put out, but I have to live up to the disingenuous name too. You'll hear mostly genuine conversation between Alex and I......mostly. Alex talks about his passion in helping others and his upbringing in Baltimore. We also engage in conversation regarding the negative stereotypes towards black fathers, education, mentoring the youth, and issues plaguing the black community. So this episode was a bit different than what I'm used to....in a good way lol. I had the pleasure of having a dope conversation with my good friend Antonio, I've known Antonio a long ass time, since college days father, husband......and lethal with a pistol in his hands lol by that I mean he's also breaking racial barriers owning his own business as a weapons instructor. Now, typically this show doesn't have topics, the guest is the topic, but this time we decided to delve into the world of guns, gun culture, and the good and bad sides of guns. A passion for me I dont speak on much, but an even greater passion of his. Antonio's passion for teaching people about gun safety and shooting was evident throughout our conversation. He shared some valuable insights and knowledge on the topic, including the importance of gun safety education, laws and responsible gun ownership. I know he dropped mad gems on things I didn't even think about. We talked about the role of guns in American culture and the current political climate surrounding gun control. Antonio also shared some interesting stories about his experiences as a weapons instructor, including some of the challenges he has faced and the rewards of helping others learn how to shoot safely. Find your red wagon! This week I had one of my long time homies, brother and sandz, Randy aka Brother Randy to bless me with his presence. I have to admit,  I forgot how philosophical Randy can be lol. Probably the first episode where politics were discussed lol but either way it was dope! We covered some pretty deep topics. Marriage, fatherhood, black men in education, some of the ridiculousness that comes with social media and of course, your red wagon (you'll understand after you tune in). Just two light skinned black men living out their dreams When I often refer to my "gun carrying days" i'm referring to when I carried a weapon for a living, wayyy before the life I live now behind the microphone. In that line of work you need people who can keep you inspired and maybe make you laugh here and there. This week my boy Thomas aka Teezus graced me with his presence! Thomas is a brother in Christ but also a former fellow officer from those "gun carrying days" who's now living out his dream on stage as a comedian! He was one of the first people I asked to be a guest on the show when this podcast was still on the drawing board. He shares his journey from serving in law enforcement, to being a mortician (yea you read that right) and pursuing his passion for comedy and sharing God's word with the world. We'll also delve into his unique style of comedy, which draws on his experiences and his love for God, to provide a refreshing and uplifting perspective on life's ups and downs. With a combination of witty one-liners and thought-provoking insights, Thomas is sure to leave you feeling inspired and uplifted. She's back! But this time with a twist! So about a year ago, one of my favorite episodes I've produced came upon the air waves, that's because my lady love graced me with her presence to be a guest on the show. This time though, she's back as a guest host! You read that correctly, I handed the reins off to her this time to lead the show. What I didn't expect, the tough questions she asked! But knowing how philosophical she is with just about everything, I shouldn't have been surprised lol! We talked about how our relationship has evolved over the past year, the lessons we've learned and the bad habits we loved each other through and eventually got rid of. Typically, I'm a bit reserved about my views & opinions with my personal relationship, but given the circumstances I suppose it's ok to step out of our comfort zones here and there!

Episode 30! This podcast I started just celebrated its 1st birthday this month. Never would have thought it would reach its 30th episode. I had several inspirations starting this project and one of them being my grandmother! So what better way to celebrate this milestone than with having her on and share some of her wisdom that has helped me through many parts of my life; health & fitness, the power of reading & journaling, and my spiritual walk. My grandma has always had a young spirit! Even at 81 years old she still teaches aerobics and is a personal trainer. I even have a hard time keeping up with her! Be inspired!

Manifestation is real! My home girl and soror Kellie stopped by this week for a few laughs, stories and opened up about a few things even I didn't know about. She spoke on her prayer book she has and it not only building her relationship with God but also helps her in asking for what she wants and desires in her life! Even though I'm out the game, we even touched on dating a bit! Something I don't talk about much on here but it led us to a few laughs!

We're back! After a pretty long hiatus and a well deserved break, your favorite podcast is back in motion! Took some time off before the new year to rest, spend time with family and reset. So what better way to start off the year with an episode with my brothers! I pledged Phi Beta Sigma in 2011, probably one of the hardest and rewarding experiences. Would I do it again? Hell no, but if I had to it would be with the 8 brothers I started and finished with. 9 different stories, 9 different personalities but ONE bond! Another UMES legend has graced me with his presence this week. My man Johnnie! There's very few people I have met in this life where you automatically click with them upon first meeting them, well, Johnnie is one of them. This guy has always been full of life every since we linked back in our college days and I believe the reason why we are close is because he too also believes laughter is the best medicine! He came through to talk about ups and downs and life's lessons. We took a bit of time talking about rejection too, and how we've both learned it's just life's redirection. The thing about Johnnie is, he knows if he was knocked down in the past, its for a reason and he's be able to smile through it all!

If no one said they love you, Remy loves you! Probably one of my favorite phrases from a long time homie of mine, Remy! I'm honored Remy took the time out of his busy schedule last minute to honor me with his presence this week. I've known this guy since the early days of undergrad and we've stayed connected throughout the years. He was one of the last people I physically seen before we all went into lock down in 2020, and ironically we have similar stories of triumph, overcoming adversity and beating the odds during that period. He talks about his struggle trying to find his passion after lost it for a bit and how he overcame the plague of depression to be able to travel the world and loving the life he now lives. We're back! Part 2 of the Married Millennial series! So yall heard my close friend and brother from another, Will, on the Coffeehouse Part 2 episode. For a good portion of the episode he talked about his beloved bride, Jaz. I had the honor of being apart of the wedding not too long ago and I couldn't be more proud of him! Buttt it's time to yet again put a voice with a name. This week Jaz comes through to talk about her life before Will and how she's learned to adjust to the married life while also learning the ropes of being a mom too! Listen and be inspired!

Soooo I am doing things a bit different this time around! I've had five amazing men on here who are also amazing husbands and fathers. When they came through the first time to talk about their story, one of the things they all spoke on was their marriage and their love to their wife. So I had this idea to have these men on again BUT with their wife this time! I thought it would only be fitting to put a name with a voice. This episode is the first of a 5 part series! If yall remember my boy Brandon who was on episode three, he spoke so highly of his beloved Ebony. I've only met Ebony a hand full of times but she's an amazing woman, she has to be to put up with Brandon lol. She graced us with her presence this week to talk about her life before Brandon, her perspective on marriage and how her and Brandon had to learn to work together through some obstacles thrown their way. The original hosts are back! My man Will AKA Hadji, came to bless me with his presence on the podcast this week! I've known this guy since I was 15, literally one of my oldest childhood friends. To witness what he has become, I couldn't be more proud! I had the honor of being in his wedding which was amazing to see I partly owe my success behind the mic to this man right here as he was the one who I hosted my first ever event with way back in high school, good times. You are enough! Words to live by! After a quick hiatus, we're back! This week I had my boy and long time friend since undergrad, Aaron on the podcast! Phenomenal dude and standup husband and father he is, Met Aaron my freshman year of college and instantly clicked as friends. After hearing about his story I realized we're more alike in character than I once thought. He grew up in a christian household, went to an HBCU and pledged a black greek organization, and ended up going through trials and tribulations as a young black man in a society that was set up to make us fail, the list goes on. But he persevered! It's always dope to hear a black man profess his love for his woman and his family. Listen to his story and be inspired!

20 years I've known this guy! This week I had the honor and privilege of having my childhood best friend of over 20 years to grace me with his presence. What I thought was going to be an hour of just reminiscing of funny childhood stories, turned into an amazing conversation between two black men talking about not only their friendship but how Nick is about to be a father, something he's always desired. It was beyond beautiful to hear someone I've known since I was literally 11 years old to talk about the hardships he's faced, how he overcame them and more importantly how much he's looking forward to being a father! Something you don't hear black men talk about often. Listen and be inspired!

Well what do we have here! Never thought I would have my lady love on here but here she is! The apple of my eye, Morgan honored me with her presence to talk about her story, her career and passion as a heath & wellness coach and maybe we dibbled and dabbled in the beautiful romanticism we share. To have my best friend, biggest supporter and significant other to join me on this journey I started nineteen episodes ago has been nothing short of amazing! Listen and be inspired!

There's nothing more beautiful than to hear a man speak so highly of his bride. That's what this episode is about! My frat brother Brandon came through this week to talk about his business he created from the ground up, old college memories and best of all his new bride! To me, its always a breath of fresh air to hear a great romance story. I've known this guy for some years now and as I said in the episode, he's gone from an annoying little brother to one of the most respected men in my eyes. A man who has accomplished many things and didn't give up when life threw its curveballs. Listen and be inspired!

Steve and I went to high school together, went to college together, lived together and pledged our fraternity together. To see his growth through everything he's been through is nothing short of amazing! From being a dj at small house parties in college to being international! Hear his story and be inspired!

We all have goals, dreams and a vision! Unfortunately most folks will see hear about someone else's dreams and will talk down on them simply because it's not their own vision! My homegirl Cierra came through this week to discuss this very thing! As long as I've known her she has had a vision of being her own brand and to see her walk in it now has been nothing short of amazing! Hear her talk about how she had to fight through the obstacles in her life to get to where she is now!

Millennials! This is how you make it! At the end of the day no one will remember you by the amount of likes on your posts, the materials things you have, etc. It's about what you do for others! When you have a serving heart and want to see people make it, that is where you blessings come from and what life is about. My mentor Carl stepped through to share his wisdom on how to get ahead and life, his road to success and how he pays it forward to the next person. He is one of two of the most successful black men I know. Everything he said on the episode is genuine and true. Tap in!

"There some who bring a light to the world, that even after they have gone, the light remains".  This episode is a special one. We talk about grief. Something never explored on this podcast before. Julieze honored me with her presence to talk about how losing both parents within a year has taught her so many lessons about grief and God's love for us. She exhibits strength she's gained through loss I can only imagine. Without a doubt one of the strongest people I have had the pleasure of speaking with!

Have you ever met anyone who is always optimistic and happy? Deshae is that person! I have known this guy for over 18 years! It's always an amazing thing to see when you've grown up with certain people as kids and to see them evolve to adults. We're definitely not kids anymore! Ever since I've known him he's always happy and positive. In this episode Deshae gives his ideas and experiences on how he maintains this happiness and even how the hard times in his life have helped him to be the man he is today. 

The three amigos are back for part 2! In part 1 Sal shared his story of overcoming his trials and tribulations. In part 2, it's Trevor's turn! I've known Trevor for 10 years and I can see I'm proud of the person he's become watching him overcome battles that would have broke most! Listen and be inspired!

Have you ever been uncomfortable with where you are in life and just wanted to hop in the car and take a ride to see where you ended up? Well Lorenzo did that exact thing and it ended up being one of the best decisions he's ever made. My boy Lorenzo came through this week to talk about his journey from going to a star football player in college, navigating through a new life with its own obstacles & struggles to understanding why he had to hit a low in life to be the successful young black man he is today! His story is inspiring! 

Yellow is for endometriosis awareness! I'm of the opinion, women, especially black women are not taken seriously enough in the medical field. As much as I am an advocate the health of black women, I can only speak so much since i'm a man. Thats why my friend Ty stepped through this week to speak on this topic and about her journey, not struggle, with endometriosis! She speaks on her journey dealing with the condition itself and obstacles she's overcome to be the endo warrior she is today!

Doing something a little different this week. This week I have two guests! So that makes three educated, successful black men in one space! This week my two brothers Sal & Trevor dropped by. This is part 1 to a two part series, maybe even three. Sal talks about his journey of overcoming so many obstacles, while Trevor chimes in on Sal's success. Even though this is my first time initially having a conversation with Sal, his story taught me so much not just about him but life in general! Part 2 will be Trevor's story and how he overcame his obstacles in life!

This definitely goes down as the most transparent episode thus far. My frat bro, Avery came by this week, I've known this man for over 10 years, and his growth has been nothing short of amazing! We have seen each other during the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Tune in and listen how this young black man beat the odds with depression, losing his mom and other obstacles where others would have given up! I'll say this too, probably the funniest episode thus far too lol.

He who finds a wife finds a good thing! My homie and workout partner Justin came through! It's amazing how me and him are the same age but I look up to him. He's an amazing husband and a dope father to four boys. Hard work makes the dream work!  This week on the podcast my friend and brother Lou Rawz stopped by blessed me with some new found wisdom! Lou talks about his journey in the military, being an amazing father and most importantly his passion for music! Listen to my man Lou as he speaks on overcoming obstacles thrown in his way and throughout some difficulty in his life, he's never given up on his dreams!

This one is a special one. Tam speaks about her story overcoming the trauma of sexual assault. March is sexual assault awareness month. Sexual assault is in my opinion a very serious issue, and one that is not discussed enough! So many victims have suffered from this horrendous topic and I deeply commend Tam for speaking her truth and being brave to come forward with her story!

This week I have my girl and fellow partner in the health and fitness Journey Arneka! She speaks on her experiences on losing over 130lbs! Which includes the mental, spiritual and romantic changes during her journey. She also speaks on self-love. As always, I take something from each episode, and this time it's the importance of loving yourself no matter what!

This week I have my dear friend Torri on the podcast! Literally one of the sweetest women I have ever met. She talks about her story of overcoming her battles with her health and how the death of her father made a positive impact on her life and how she found her voice through his transition. 

Men! Especially black men! It's ok to cry! I have always hated the narrative of "men can't cry or be emotional". We're human too. And too often when we bottle up these emotions because society says we can't let them out, they come out in sometimes a violent way.  So I had my brother and friend Brandon help out in this week's episode to further explain why we as men need to stop believing this notion of we can't be as open with our emotions as women can. Brandon tells his story of how he's learned to navigate as a black man through society while learning to be secure within himself.

A wise man once said friendship works like a tree. Leaves and branches eventually fall off but the roots are there to stay and keep that same tree alive! Step into the second episode where I have the honor of discussing various topics such as mental health awareness with my dear friend Amber, whom I have known for 13 years! She goes into depth on her story of overcoming adversity while dealing with a co-occurring disorder with her mental health and navigating through today's society as a black woman. Amber has amazing advice for those who are dealing with the same obstacle!
