Yet another fun album review podcast! Season 4, Episode 4 of the Rock N' Roll album review podcast had Smitty reviewing A Day To Remember's Homesick (2009). Highlight was Allman Brothers Band's Idlewild South (1997), and Guano Apes' Proud Like A God (1997). We review the albums, play a clip of our (Mandatory) lowlight, and then pick a highlight and play that full song. WE LOVE TALKING MUSIC. We then give each other homework assignments for the next episode. This podcast is a passion project and if you dig fun conversations about music, it's for you.Exclusive video editions on Spotify and if you want to go even further, check out Patreon for only $3 a monthwww.patreon.com/we3smithAlso, check out my other social media links Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SmittyOnDuhInternet Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hungoversmitty/Twitter: http://twitter.com/HungoverSmittySmitty Learns Irish PUBcast coming in 2026. For fans of Irish history, shite talking podcasts, pubs and beer and just good fun. The Smitty Learns Irish PUBcast will feature Smitty hiking through Ireland for a year, and stopping by Irish towns to find out about their local history by talking to Publicans (Pub owners), regulars and town know-it-alls in sit down conversations that will hopefully be fun, informative, engaging and probably once in a while, at least a tad vulgar.
Are you ready to disrespect your surroundings? This is fittingly our most graphic episode yet, as we unleash the metal and talk about doodoo, broken bones, and how much Rick cried during the Perseverance landing. A Day To Remember's Homesick is the album of the week, and it's a nice heavy one, and could only be brought to us by the heavyweight champ of espionage, comedian Ernie Romero. He regales us with stories about bloody noses and his inability to feel pain, and perhaps most upsettingly of all, we discuss Taco Bell's latest food crime. Also, sorry if the audio is different, Audacity updated and I hate it! Thanks to Pale Blue Dot for our theme For You... With A Day To Remember set to drop their latest album You’re Welcome on March 5 the music world is once again abuzz at the bold, fresh stance taken by the band. They continually push the envelope with each release and have a blatant disregard for convention or expectation, which is perhaps part of the band’s universal appeal.Guitarist Kevin Skaff joined HEAVY from lockdown where he has spent the better part of 12 months to talk us through You’re Welcome and A Day To Remember’s stance on delivering music."Musically it's our most...it's definitely our most out there album,” he offered. “It's all over the place sonics wise and genre-wise. We just decided to go for it. We had so many songs prepared for the album that it was probably gonna be like that anyways. We actually wanted to put out a double album but the powers that be wanted us to just put out one (laughs).”After demoing more than forty songs for the release, Skaff says the band presented the raw material to the band powerbrokers before eventually whittling them down to the 14 tracks that appear on the album."It was honestly just the band and managers and the label,” he said of the process. “We all just got in one room and listened to all the demos we had then knocked it down to - I think it was 25 - and then we just started recording. After that, it went on for a little while then we all got back in the same room and cut it down again so it was just like a democratic vote - and yes we do know what democratic voting is in America (laughs)."In the full interview, Kevin discusses the diversity of music on You’re Welcome in greater detail, choosing singles to reflect the diversity of the album, getting the balance between commercialized music and the heavier material, finding their musical identity and more.

There's no other band on this earth quite like The Ghost Inside. They've overcome one of the most tragic events ANYONE could ever go through and they've returned to the music scene with what we've dubbed the PERFECT comeback album which is out on Friday and to celebrate, we grabbed drummer Andrew Tkaczyk for a chat all about it. Join podcast host Browny as their pair discuss the tragedy the band overcame, their slight deviation from the metalcore genre that made them a household name and, despite the curveball life threw at them, how they jumped back on the musical horse and refused to give up. Turns out Andrew is also a mad keen horror movie fan and you have to hear about some of the incredible memorabilia he's collected over the years, including one piece which manages to scare the shit out of anyone who sees it for the first time. We also take a look at the chaos across America surrounding the wrongful death of George Floyd, the serious issue in our own backyard with over 400 deaths of Indigenous Australians in police custody (which have gone unanswered) and the tracks I Prevail, Fever 333 and Sum 41 released over the past week which are more important now, than ever. There's also New Music from Emmure, In Hearts Wake, Attila and Northlane, throwbacks from The Beautiful Monument, A Day To Remember, Bring Me The Horizon and more! #WoSUATW #TheGhostInside #TGI #EpitaphRecords #InHeartsWake #Polaris #AlphaWolf #Emmure #Attila #BringMeTheHorizon #BMTH #Northlane #TheBeautifulMonument #ADTR #ADayToRemember #IPrevail #Fever333 #Sum41 #TheShowMustBePaused #InThisTogether2020 #WallOfSoundAU
