This week, we're scratching The Itch for etiquette! The guys caught a trio of VERY different shows with one thing in common: concertgoers in need of friendly reminders about how to act. But that's what we're here for, right? That and giggles. First, it's an early Father's Day as Dan takes his dad to see Itch guest Kenny Wayne Shepherd on his Ledbetter Heights 30th anniversary tour, where nostalgia and mastery were both on display. Then, Dan pivots to being the dad himself, as he and Hannah take their sons (and KC!) to see Bring Me the Horizon, Motionless in White, The Plot in You, and Amira Elfeky at a show that would gain national rock news attention for a rather unpleasant reason. (Don't worry, it had nothing to do with us.) And finally, we cover Pointfest for the sixth year in a row. But when a show's headliner is unbearably boring, the rest of the lineup has a lot of weight to pull. Did they succeed? Listen to find out as Dan catches Magnolia Park, From Ashes to New, Highly Suspect, Mammoth, and Blue October! And stay to the end for an etiquette proposal that you're sure to have an opinion on! "I would argue that Sempiternal is their re-debut album. It pivoted to something that's a little bit more poppy for the mainstream general audience... it very much was a rebranding of them in a way." This week, Brian and Lizzie dissect Bring Me The Horizon's pivotal 2013 album, Sempiternal. They discuss the addition of Jordan Fish, Oli Sykes' shift to clean vocals, and how the band laid the blueprint for modern metalcore.   A decade after its release, Bring Me The Horizon's Sempiternal remains a monumental record in emo history and modern metalcore. Brian and Lizzie sit down to review the album that transformed BMTH from a raw deathcore act into global rock superstars. They analyze the massive impact of Jordan Fish joining the band, bringing cinematic synths and EDM influences that completely reshaped their sonic landscape. The hosts break down Oli Sykes' evolution into clean, Linkin Park-inspired vocals and review standout tracks like 'Can You Feel My Heart', 'Shadow Moses', and 'Sleepwalking'. From the pop punk level of catchy hooks embedded in their heavy breakdowns to the nuanced electronic soundscapes that paved the way for the current 'baddiecore' movement, this episode covers it all. Did Sempiternal single-handedly save a stale scene, or are there valid critiques of its straightforward lyrics? LOUIS – Oli Sykes, the lead singer of British rock band Bring Me the Horizon, says he suffered a mild concussion after an audience member apparently threw a phone that struck him onstage Monday evening at the Enterprise Center. A video shared by BMTH News, a platform that promotes the band, showed a phone striking Sykes on the left side of his head as the band performed a tune called “Happy Song.” “Who the f*** just threw a phone at my f*****g head?” said Sykes, following the completion of “Happy Song,” visibly distraught after he was struck. The video later shows Sykes handing the phone to a security worker. He also appeared to check his hands for blood and paused several times during the next song to rub his head. According to a Billboard report, on Tuesday, Sykes shared an update on his condition Tuesday via an Instagram story. “Alright everyone, just wanted to let you know I'm all good,” said Sykes. “The phone to the head definitely smarted and I ended up with a mild concussion, but the swelling's gone down a decent amount already.” (Fox 2 St. Louis)

Bring Me The Horizon (Count Your Blessings), My Chemical Romance (The Black Parade), Green Day (American Idiot/Dookie), Billy Talent (Billy Talent 2) und viele weitere haben es kürzlich oder werden es demnächst tun.

The alt-rock band just announced their new album, The Wow! Signal, by launching a special tablet over 20 miles into the atmosphere, in partnership with Sent Into Space. While that screen was above the earth, Muse premiered the music video for their new single, “Be With You.” The Wow! Signal is out June 26 via Warner. The 10-song LP, which also includes the previously released single “Unravelling,” gets its name from a famous interstellar mystery that actually happened. In 1977, a powerful 72-second radio burst was detected originating from the Sagittarius constellation with a bandwidth and intensity that suggested a possible extraterrestrial source. After discovering it, the astronomer circled the now-famous sequence “6EQUJ5” and scribbled “Wow!” beside it. The rest, as they say, is scientific pop-culture history.” (Pitchfork)MUSE Releases New Song In Space and No One Cares? | The Podcast That Rocked

"You're on stage. You're playing shows. You're going on tours, and they're like, you haven't paid your dues. It's like, I'm doing it right now. This is the dues."   Drop Dead, Gorgeous is back. After a 15-year hiatus, frontman Daniel "Stills" Stillman joins Brian and Lizzie to talk about their highly anticipated return, dropping the new EP Sink Your Teeth, and gearing up for Warped Tour.   Stills takes us back to 2006, explaining the raw, meticulous production behind In Vogue and what it was actually like blowing up on Myspace as teenagers. We talk about the very real pushback they got from traditional hardcore bands for wearing tight pants, why they skipped the "paying your dues" phase, and a wild story about a lost Skrillex remix that never saw the light of day. We also get into the current state of songwriting and the uncomfortable reality of AI tools pushing pop artists to either innovate or be replaced. "We were in that phase of wearing tight jeans, girl pants... we were kind of in a heavier scene, and so there was still hardcore bands that weren't really into that at all. We got a lot of pushback and hate because of that." "AI highlighted to me how formulated pop music actually is. And I think what it's forcing actual big pop artists to do now is to push the boundaries and mix it up more, because if they don't, they will be replaced by AI." "You're on stage, you're playing shows, you're going on tours, and they're like, you haven't paid your dues. It's like, I'm doing it right now. This is the dues. I'm here today to do that." For our debut episode, we look at the only news that matters right now: The Warped Tour 2026 lineup announcements. Brian and Lizzie debate which heavy hitters are likely to take the main stage—from the return of Fall Out Boy to the potential for a Bring Me The Horizon headline slot. Brian argues that while fans want My Chemical Romance, the price tag might be impossible for the tour to sustain. Plus, we tackle the internet's favorite argument: Gatekeeping. We look back at being "called emo" in 2005 vs. 2026, and why the term "Midwest Emo" might just be a weather pattern rather than a genre. Whether you were in the pit in 2005 or discovered the scene on TikTok, this episode covers the past, present, and future of pop punk.   "I think that a lot of people argue about what emo is because they're trying to protect their own identity as part of it." "I think what happens in the Midwest is generally more influential on emo music than what happens on the coasts." "Realistically, I'm like, Warped Tour cannot afford My Chemical Romance. And then it's, like, the coolest thing you've ever f***ing heard.Brian and Lizzie dive into the cultural impact and musical complexity of Twenty One Pilots' 2015 masterpiece, Blurryface. They explore the album's guerrilla marketing leak, its consortium of A-list producers, and its lasting influence on the pop landscape.    Was Blurryface the biggest record to emerge from the 2010s emo scene? Brian and Lizzie investigate the monumental impact of Twenty One Pilots' 2015 genre-defying album. They discuss the duo's Ohio roots, their place in Fueled by Ramen's emo history, and the album's unique production, which brought together producers from hip hop, pop, and indie rock. The hosts explore the strategic album leak, the creation of the 'Blurryface' character to personify insecurity and mental health struggles, and how the record smuggled alternative art into the mainstream. Featuring in-depth analysis of landmark tracks like the billion-stream hit "Stressed Out," the reggae-infused "Ride," and the fan-favorite "Tear In My Heart," this episode debates whether the album's pop punk adjacency and massive success cement its place as one of the best emo albums of all time.    "This is very much a radio sounding record, although the music and the songwriting is not super radio friendly.""By wrapping a high concept album about depression and insecurity in glossy pop production, Twenty One Pilots smuggled alternative art into the mainstream.""I wasn't raised in the hood, but I know a thing or two about pain and darkness. On October 10th, After Hour Animals dropped their new EP entitled Total Disconnect, which features an overall darker, more ethereal vibe to their sound. On this episode, Nik (vocals) and Billy (vocals, guitar) from After Hour Animals talk with Mike about expounding upon After Hour Animals' sound with their new music, including a breakdown of the tracks featured on Total Disconnect, their DIY spirit as an independent band, the work involved for independent artists when it comes to music marketing and social media, the current state of hard rock and modern metal, AI, mental health, the unreleased music they've been working on, and more.  This episode of the pod also features the song "Human Parasite" from After Hour Animals off their new EP Total Disconnect, available where you get your music!
