In a recent interview with Metal Hammer (that was sourced by NME), Ozzy's wife and manager Sharon was asked if she was open to the idea of an ABBA-styled Black Sabbath hologram/avatar show.“Sure I would, yeah. Technology keeps moving on and on,” she explained. “You can do incredible things now, so what you could do in five years will be even better. You never know what the opportunities are,” she added. For now though, the focus is on the legendary heavy metal band reuniting for one final live concert on July 5th.Would you go to a Black Sabbath or Ozzy Osbourne avatar show?Do me a favor and bang your head on the links belowTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@jesealeeInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/jesealee/YouTubehttps://youtube.com/@JeseaLeePodcast on Spotifyhttps://open.spotify.com/show/5ptN7bPT8MEYf3W1J28fAK?si=e2a2f7cc56904cd4Podcast on YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@JeseaLeeProduction by WhatTheGleeson Content Creation https://www.instagram.com/whatthegleesonSpotify Playlists:https://open.spotify.com/user/1281170391?si=f063098bbc4a4c7fSubscribe to my newsletter:https://jesealee.substack.com/Everything else:https://www.jesealee.com/

Interview by Kris PetersSince releasing their acclaimed debut album Tū (2018), New Zealand metal warriors Alien Weaponry have been lauded for their kinetic presence and sound, as well as their vital blend of culturally profound lyricism in both English and te reo Māori, the indigenous language of New Zealand.Still in their teens when that album took the world by storm and with the sudden burden of expectation thrust upon their shoulders, Alien Weaponry bunkered down, surrounding themselves with family and away from the clutches of industry people potentially looking to exploit both their talent and youth. It proved a masterstroke, with the young band following up with Tangaroa (2021) and earned them the title of 'the future of heavy metal' by Metal Hammer and led to tours around the world with the likes of Guns N' Roses, Gojira, Slayer and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. But, they say, a band's third album is the most defining one of their career and that moment has come with the impending release of Te Rā (March 28).Described as their heaviest, most powerful and mature offering to date, Alien Weaponry feel like they have returned with a point to prove. HEAVY caught up with the newest member of the band, bass player Tūranga Morgan-Edmonds, to find out more."I think we were definitely nervous going into the first single," he began when asked how the band are feeling about the album finally seeing the light of day. "I think the single probably had a lot more nerves surrounding it than the album itself. Because, you know, it's a new stage in the band's evolution and sound. And it's the first time I've been a part of the writing and recording process. And particularly because the first single was a song that I had written myself (laughs). So I was sort of like, Oh, God, what if people don't like it? That's my creative input that people don't like. But then of course the song came out and the response has been awesome. Now as we slowly trickle into the album release tomorrow there's been two more singles come out and people seem to love those as well."Talk turns to the music side of Te Rā and what sound they were trying to achieve."We took a step back," he measured. "Obviously, the first album was such a force onto the scene and left a strong impression on a lot of people when that came out in 2018. And the second album didn't quite land where they had wanted to. And when we went to the third album, we were sort of like, OK, what is it that we want to achieve? Are we trying to create a new sound entirely? Are we trying to create something familiar? And so what we decided on was trying to actually find a balance between the highlights of both albums, even the second one. So the second one, what people liked, of course, was the sort of move towards a more technical approach, so maybe more complication in the riffs and the writing structures. And then also a lot of people quite liked the much more traditional sounding Māori vocals, not just singing in another language, but singing in the style of that language, if that makes sense."In the full interview, Turanga further introduced the band's upcoming third album, Te Ra, highlighting the blend of genres and the incorporation of Te Reo Māori to maintain cultural authenticity. He shared his excitement about collaborating with Randy Blythe from Lamb of God, who contributed vocals to a track after their connection on Instagram, emphasizing the influence of Lamb of God on their music. Tu reflected on the band's growth from newcomers to respected figures in the metal scene, acknowledging the challenges of touring post-pandemic.He expressed optimism for a more extensive touring schedule following the album's release, with management actively working on overseas plans, went back to when he joined Alien Weaponry and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Jesse Starcher, Robert Cooper, Mik Wanamaker and Mark Radulich present their MSlipknot 25th Anniversary Self Titled 2024 Album Review as part of the MHOD Jukebox!Slipknot is an American heavy metal band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995 by percussionist Shawn Crahan, former vocalist Anders Colsefni and bassist Paul Gray. After several lineup changes in its early years, the band settled on nine members for more than a decade: Crahan, Gray, Joey Jordison, Craig Jones, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Chris Fehn, and Jim Root. Slipknot is well known for its attention-grabbing image, aggressive style of music, and energetic and chaotic live shows. The band rapidly rose to fame following the release of their eponymous debut album in 1999. The 2001 follow-up album, Iowa, although darker in tone, made the band more popular. After a brief hiatus, Slipknot returned in 2004 with Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses), before going on another hiatus and returning in 2008 with its fourth album, All Hope Is Gone, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. After another long hiatus, Slipknot released its fifth studio album, .5: The Gray Chapter, in 2014. Their sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, was released on August 9, 2019. Their seventh studio album, The End, So Far, was released on September 30, 2022. The band has released two live albums titled 9.0: Live and Day of the Gusano: Live in Mexico, a compilation album titled Antennas to Hell, and five live DVDs. The band has sold 30 million records worldwide and over 12 million in their home country.Slipknot is the debut studio album by American heavy metal band Slipknot. It was released on June 29, 1999, by Roadrunner Records, following a demo containing a few of the songs which had previously been released in 1998. Later, it was reissued in December 1999 with a slightly-altered track listing and mastering as the result of a lawsuit. It was the first release by the band to be produced by Ross Robinson, who sought to refine Slipknot's sound rather than alter the group's musical direction. This is the only album to feature original guitarist Josh Brainard who left at the end of recording in late 1998 while the band was taking a brief break. Jim Root, who recorded two tracks at this point, would appear full time on subsequent albums starting with their next album Iowa. The album spans several genres, but is generally noted for its extensive percussion and overall heavy sound. It was well received by fans and critics alike and was responsible for bringing Slipknot a large increase in popularity. The album peaked at number 51 on the Billboard 200, and has gone on to become certified double platinum in the United States, making it the band's best-selling album. In 2011, it was voted the best debut album of the last 25 years by readers of Metal Hammer magazine.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

Original Airdate 2/15/2017The boys are back to review the latest Overkill album, The Grinding Wheel! The Grinding Wheel is the eighteenth studio album by American thrash metal band Overkill, released on February 10, 2017.Vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth said about the album's style:"At the end of the day Overkill is Overkill. Our trademark is that we are always recognizable on every release. For the three decades we have been around we were always Overkill. So sure it is a metal record and like always it will have sort of a thrash vibe to it with some melody in it. It's always best to try to make it better or at least think in your mind that it is going to be better. That becomes the challenge. I think that is what keeps the band rolling. A lot of bands are known for what they have done, but I feel being known for where you are and what you are doing is where true value lies. I feel we accomplished that on the last few albums."Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

The Metal Hammer of Doom is back in your life, this time examining the Ned Flanders inspired metal band Okilly Dokilly. Joining Mark will be Jesse Starcher and Simpsons superfan Robert Winfree Okilly Dokilly was an American metalcore band from Phoenix, Arizona, that played "Nedal" music; a subgenre of metal music themed around the animated character Ned Flanders from the television series The Simpsons. All band members performed dressed as Flanders, and the majority of the lyrics to their songs are quotes of his.The band members go by the pseudonyms: Head Ned, Shred Ned, Zed Ned, Dread Ned and Bed Ned. The unusual concept behind the group has resulted in worldwide attention. The lead singer, Head Ned, said that Nedal music is "Not as fast as Bartcore, and a little cleaner than Krusty Punk", references to hardcore punk and crust punk, respectively.Howdilly Doodilly is the first studio album by Phoenix-based, Ned Flanders-themed metalcore band Okilly Dokilly, released on November 11, 2016. According to the band, the lyrics contain "75% Ned quotes and 25% other characters/original."[4] The album was recorded and mixed by Jalipaz Nelson at Audioconfusion in Mesa, Arizona in early 2016.The single "White Wine Spritzer" was released prior to the album on October 30, 2016, with a music video on November 6.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network. Original Airdate 11/23 and 11/30 2016Mark, Jesse and Robert Cooper present their review of Metallica - Hardwired... to Self-Destruct! This was originally a 2-part episode that clocked in over 4 hours total. This is the edit featuring both parts and cuts out all the holiday talk, spotify christmas playlists, Jesse's first listen and ranking of slayer tracks and many of Cooper's odd stories. Also, during the live recording of the disc 2 review, Mark's audio completely crapped out (which led to us leaving BTR in the first place) and all of that was edited out. So now the episode is a lean 2 hours - no plugs!Hardwired... to Self-Destruct is the tenth studio album by American heavy metal band Metallica, released as a double album on November 18, 2016, by the band's record label Blackened Recordings. It was Metallica's first studio album in eight years following Death Magnetic (2008), marking the longest gap between studio albums in the band's career, and its first studio album released through Blackened. The album was produced by Greg Fidelman, who engineered and mixed Death Magnetic.Hardwired... to Self-Destruct was Metallica's sixth consecutive studio album to debut at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling 291,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, and topping the charts in 57 countries. The number one ranking marked only the second time in the chart's history that any band had six consecutive albums debut at number one, following Dave Matthews Band. Hardwired... to Self-Destruct received generally positive reviews from critics, and in 2020, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich ranked the album as the band's best.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

Original Airdate 10/26/2016The boys are back to review Korn - The Serenity of Suffering!from http://www.metalinjection.netThe Serenity of Suffering is perhaps one of (perhaps the most), catchiest album Korn has ever created. Is “catchy” what we really want to hear in the world of metal though? While we can sit here and argue whether or not Korn is metal (hell, some of them don't even call themselves metal), they are still a heavy band. They are still a band that has produced solid work, been dragged through the mud, and in the past few years cleaned themselves off to return stronger. The Serenity of Suffering is an album that a Korn fan can truly appreciate. It contains powerful instrumentals that captures a variety of sounds and elements from across their career (even if it lacks lyrical energy). Love them or hate them, Korn has made a mark and proven their worth to stay in the game.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59
Original Airdate 10/12/2016 The boys are back to review Epica - The Holographic Principle!from nuclearblast.com"Recorded once again with esteemed producer Joost van den Broek at the controls, »The Holographic Principle« represents the most impressive and powerful expression of EPICA's boldly inventive sound yet. One listen to thunderous new songs like 'Edge Of The Blade' and 'Universal Death Squad' will confirm that »The Holographic Principle« is EPICA's heaviest album to date. Meanwhile, the shimmering soundscapes and multi-layered melodrama of 'Once Upon A Nightmare' and the towering 11-minute title track confirm that »The Holographic Principle« is also the band's most musically extravagant and daring release so far. With lashings of sumptuous orchestration and a never-ending stream of ingenious but brutal metal riffs and propulsive rhythms underpinning the whole explosive enterprise, this is an album that raises the bar for the entire symphonic metal genre."Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59
Original Airdate 9/28/16Tonight's show has the guys discussing Every Time I Die's latest! From http://epitaph.com“The whole winter, the temperature was in the low teens. Bitterly cold,” says Every Time I Die's front man Keith Buckley regarding the months that yielded their eighth full-length album. But Keith and the rest of the band Jordan Buckley (guitar), Andy Williams (guitar), Daniel Davison (drums), and Steve Micciche (bass) aren't so hard up for pathos at this point that they're grumbling about the temperature outside. If anything, Low Teens is their most poignant and impassioned album in a career full of sardonic illuminations and pit-inciting fervor. The band was on tour in Toronto in December when Keith received a phone call that his wife was in the hospital with a life-threatening pregnancy complication. It was a harrowing night as Buckley left the tour and raced home to overwhelming uncertainty. Both wife and daughter survived the ordeal, but the moment of crisis had a lasting impact on Buckley and an inevitable role in shaping the lyrical scope of Low Teens.Low Teens' razor-sharp sound and auditory barbarism was abetted by engineer and producer Will Putney (Acacia Strain, Body Count, Exhumed). Low Teens' guest vocalists further demonstrate these polarized extremes, with formidable bellower Tim Singer (Deadguy, Kiss It Goodbye, No Escape) roaring alongside Buckley on opening track “Fear and Trembling” and longtime friend Brendan Urie (Panic! at the Disco) providing a melodic counterpoint on “It Remembers”. Yes, Every Time I Die has always juggled hardcore urgency, metal brutalism, and rock melodies, but never has it felt this instinctive or this vicious. The pressure drop that yielded Low Teens could have crippled a lesser band, but Every Time I Die weathered the winter to deliver their strongest offering to date because of, not in spite of, these hardships and roadblocks.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsoFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59
The boys review the latest from industrial music legends KMFDM, KMFDM - Rocks: Milestones Reloaded. The album, a personal "best-of" compilation by KMFDM protagonists and masterminds Sascha Konietzko and Lucia Cifarelli, who claim the re-imagined, re-mixed pieces would be an "ideal playlist for a live set," commemorates the band's 32nd anniversary.Ranging from remixes by Bradley Bills of CHANT to producer/musician extraordinary Marco Trentacoste and Sascha Konietzko himself, the re-worked versions extract the essence of KMFDM's music and, at the same time, place new emphases. In true KMFDM tradition, "Rocks" bears all the band's trademarks: the (mostly) five letters commonly used in the title, as well as the iconic graphics of Aidan Hughes a.k.a. BRUTE!, which are reminiscent in the style of early Soviet Constructivism propaganda.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network. When asked about the album, Appice explains, “This album is pure simple heavy ROCK that ROCKS!”“This record is an intense collaboration of four minds all set on "destroy”, says Bone. “It's been a few years in the making and now ready to erupt. Raw and in your face, we hope you like it hot!”"Dunsmuir has given us the opportunity to explore some of our favourite heavy metal influences” adds Davis. "We strove to create something I hope will inspire a lot of head banging all over the world.”Fallon adds, "We turned out some serious metal on this record and it shreds. The concept behind the lyrics is comprised of 10 tales from the survivors of a shipwreck. What had been intended as a scientific expedition, quickly deteriorates into a struggle to survive both the natural and supernatural world.”Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsoFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76

Original Airdate 6/28/16The MHOD crew is back with a new review!Reunited with producer Mark Lewis (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, CANNIBAL CORPSE), WHITECHAPEL has redefined who they are and what they are capable of with "Mark Of The Blade". Kicking off with "The Void" — which has a SLAYER-esque ferocity that is perfectly suited to the band's three-guitar attack — the songs that follow all leave a distinct impression, and by the time the rich, dark melodies on "Decennium" bring the record to a close, it's impossible to deny the emotional weight brought to bear. "It's the most dynamic record we've done, in the sense that one song can be very aggressive while the next one will be softer and sentimental," WHITECHAPEL guitarist Alex Wade asserts. We had the pleasure of interviewing Kill The Lights over Zoom video!Certain bonds cross any and all borders and boundaries. Kill The Lights harbor this kind of connection between them. Even though you've got Michael “Moose” Thomas [drums] and Jason “Jay” James [bass] in Bridgend, Wales, James Clark [vocals] in Minneapolis, MN, Jordan Whelan [guitar] in Grand Rapids, MI, and Travis Montgomery [guitar] in Dallas, TX, the musicians lock into an impenetrable groove that eclipses physical distance. Together, they rally around a tight, taut, and tough vision for heavy metal, manifesting in rafter-reaching anthems and pit-splitting riffs. After piling up millions of streams and earning acclaim from the likes of KERRANG! and Metal Hammer, a sense of unwavering unity drives their second full-length offering, Death Melodies [Fearless Records].Of course, the musicians boast an incredible pedigree… Moose co-founded multiplatinum international heavyweights Bullet For My Valentine, while Jay also played in the band. James fronted Throw The Fight, and Jordan and Travis handled guitar duties for Still Remains and Threat Signal, respectively. Upon forming Kill The Lights, they uncovered uncontainable chemistry, releasing their debut LP The Sinner in the midst of the global pandemic. Among many highlights, “The Faceless” posted up 2 million-plus Spotify streams and counting followed by “Through The Night” and “Shed My Skin,” which each crossed the 1 million mark. Metal Hammer rated it “4-out-of-5 stars” and proclaimed, “Kill The Lights nail the groove and the glory.” Along the way, they wrote and recorded Death Melodies with sessions in Canada, Minneapolis, and across the pond in the UK with producers Chris Clancy and Colin Richardson. A complex theme coursed through the music. “Everybody struggles with different things,” states James. “These are songs about acknowledging and sharing the struggle in life. You're acknowledging the world is a hard place. Hopefully, you can find some solace in it by knowing another person feels the same way."Fittingly, they bust through the door of the next era with the single “Broken Bones.” On the track, galloping drums propel a thrashed-out riff at full speed towards a hummable hook, “You're dead inside, but still alive. There's nothing left but broken bones.” “Much of the record centered around depression and dealing with anxiety,” James goes on. “So, ‘Broken Bones' is about battling your way through life, but sticking with it.”Vulnerable acoustic guitar sets the tone for “Sleep With The Devil” as tension swells into an emotionally charged skyscraping refrain uplifted by a six-part choir harmony. “It's stuff you don't hear too much on a metal record,” Jordan comments. “It stretches the places we can go.”A sinewy guitar line snakes through the understated trudge of “Bleeding,” which is about “living a recurring nightmare and never being able to break the chain.” Then, there's “From Ashes.” Guitar swings like a wrecking ball from melodic verses towards a magnetic refrain. The ride concludes on the transfixing closer “Drowning” as distortion submerges an ethereal chorus.“It had a bit of a grungy vibe to it,” Jordan goes on. “We added some different dynamics on the record that weren't there on the first one.” In the end, Kill The Lights invite everyone to partake in their bond now.We want to hear from you! Another long one. It's a full hour. Three topics this week: 1) A book report about Tom's sister's history of her family -- mostly her dad and brother. 2) An annotated list of some other Slayer-related material. And 3) a deep meditation on the pagan significance of the Slayer Leprechaun. Seriously. Two weeks ago: We looked at the beginning of Slayer's life after Jeff. Last week: Patreon listeners received 2.5 hours of content. First a report about the Relentless "Final World Tour." And then they got a long breakdown of -- and commentary on -- Kerry King's Rolling Stone interview by Kory Grow. Next week: The Slaytanic Survey... Which albums and songs are fan favorites? Tune in and find out. Then two or three more episodes, and the show is over. For now. VIRTUAL TIP JAR: The show is almost done, and we are passing the hat. Following are links to support the show -- and, in return, you can get things like bonus episodes, the audiobook edit of the show (when it's done, which will be soon), CARVE SLAYER stickers, and more: 1) Make a one-time donation via ko-fi.com/slayerbook. The songs were recorded during the Midwinter months of 2015-16, produced by Nico Elgstrand. Host D.X. Ferris is an award-winning writer. He has worked for Rolling Stone, Alternative Press, The AV Club, and Decibel magazine. He is a fan. He has opinions. He is the author of something like nine books, depending how you count them. Two are about Slayer. The first one is an entire book about the classic thrash album Reign in Blood, which is part of the fairly prestigious 33 1/3 book series. His bigger Slayer book, though, is the 2023 update of the full-on band biography "Slayer 66 & 2/3: A Metal Band Biography, POSTMORTEM Edition." (This is the third edition; it was previously known as "Slayer 66 & 2/3: The Jeff and Dave Years...."). And that book is mostly what he'll be talking about when we're talkin' Slayer. Most episodes are audio adaptations of chapters from that book. Some have original and/or bonus material. Ferris' Slayer books at Amazon: SlayerBio.com

KILL THE LIGHTS Drummer Michael "Moose" Thomas and THE GEMS guitarist/bassist Mona Lindgren join us on this week's edition of The Loaded Radio Podcast KILL THE LIGHTS is the band featuring former BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE bassist Jason "Jay" James and drummer Michael "Moose" Thomas, alongside former members of THROW THE FIGHT, THREAT SIGNAL, and STILL REMAINS. The group made waves with their debut album, "The Sinner," released in 2020 under Fearless Records. Praised for its "statement songs" (Distorted Sound) and technical prowess, it garnered acclaim for its expansive sound and precise execution (Sonic Perspectives). After piling up millions of streams and earning acclaim from the likes of KERRANG! and Metal Hammer, a sense of unwavering unity drives their second full-length offering, "Death Melodies", which arrives March 8 via Fearless Records. “The best stuff comes when we're together,” states Moose. “We'll joke around for hours, have a few drinks, and the songs write themselves. We're so connected in this way. There's no path. We're not trying to follow anybody. This is the first album that really sounds like Kill The Lights.” In December 2017, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE announced the departure of Thomas, replaced by Jason Bowld (PITCHSHIFTER, AXEWOUND). Bowld had been touring with the band since November 2015, filling in for Thomas, who had taken time off for family reasons. Prior to that, bassist Jason James' departure from BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE was announced in February 2015, during the recording of the band's fifth album, "Venom." Jamie Mathias was brought in as his replacement in May of the same year. In the podcast, "Moose" talks about his stepping away from BFMV, how he came to join KILL THE LIGHTS with his ex-bandmate and plans for the immediate future behind the kit. The second portion of the show features THE GEMS guitarist/bassist Mona Lindgren. Emerging from the remnants, Swedish rock newcomers THE GEMS, comprising former THUNDERMOTHER members vocalist Guernica Mancini, drummer Emlee Johansson, and guitarist/bassist Mona “Demona” Lindgren, announce their debut album, "Phoenix," which arrived on January 26, 2024, via Napalm Records. THE GEMS' potential was swiftly validated with the release of their inaugural standalone single, "Like A Phoenix," in the summer of 2023. This debut single soared to the No. 2 position on the German Rock Radio Airplay Charts, catching the attention of rock enthusiasts worldwide. The album's captivating opener, "Aurora," sets the stage, allowing Mancini's distinctive, powerful, and bluesy vocals to shine. Following this, the infectious rock anthem "Queens" celebrates feminine strength and resilience. Themes of empowerment and perseverance echo throughout "Phoenix," exemplified by tracks like the standout "Send Me To The Wolves," advocating for self-assertion and triumph over adversity. In the show, Mona discusses what exactly happened with THUNDERMOTHER, the formation of THE GEMS, the crushing new album "Phoenix" and tons more.
