The Mercedes-AMG GT is one of the most beautiful sports cars to ever roll out of a factory. Seemingly taking inspiration from the legendary Mercedes-Benz 300SL, the AMG GT has an almost timeless style that will surely age as well as the 300SL. Though, not to ride just on good looks, Mercedes has progressively cranked the AMG GT up notches and produced the AMG GT R. In this episode of Quick Spin, Robin Warner puts the 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged AMG GT R to the test. Warner tackles how it looks, how it performs and how it feels, all the while bringing you along with him. Warner also hops into the studio to talk about all things AMG GT R with host Wesley Wren, before grinding out the essence of the AMG GT R.

Is the 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT R one of the best cars the Silver Star has produced in the past decade? Benjamin certainly thinks so, and Sami is inclined to agree after a week behind the wheel of the twin-turbo sports car. The pair aren't nearly as impressed with the 2020 Ford Mustang EcoBoost 2.3L High Performance Package, however, which keeps trying to make 'EcoBoost' and 'performance' synonmous for pony car fans. The race was on the not-so-interesting side -- with Mercedes taking another 1-2 finish -- but Warner defends it by laying out all of the action outside of the race. The guys also talk about Lewis Hamilton’s legacy, considering the dominance of the Mercedes-AMG program this year. Following Formula 1, the team dives into the W Series -- the all-women racing series -- that starts this weekend at the Hockenheimring. The series leads to a lively discussion of why this is a good thing for motorsports as a whole. Wrapping the show, Warner talks about his own adventure lapping the Hockenheimring in a Mercedes-AMG GT Pro.

Mercedes-AMG will use the most powerful Official FIA F1 Safety Car of all time in the 2018 Formula 1 season: the AMG GT R will have its debut as the Official FIA F1 Safety Car of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship at the Grand Prix in Melbourne, Australia, from 25 to 27 March 2018. The top-of-the-line model of the AMG GT series will ensure maximum safety for the Formula 1 field on all 20 race weekends. The performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach has supplied the pace car in the premier racing series of international motorsports since 1996.
