Ida Zetterström is a two-time Super Street Bike Champion winning the 2019 and 2020 championship. In addition, she was the 2023 European Champion in FIA Top Fuel Drag Racing while setting the European ET record of 3.77 and the speed record of 321.1mph along with winning all but one race in the 2023 season. Before finding her way to compete in the U.S. in 2024 at the top level of drag racing as an NHRA Top Fuel dragster pilot mastering an 11,000 horsepower dragster at 330+mph in only 1,000 feet, she grew up at the race tracks in Europe starting out in junior dragsters at the age of 8. Ida's journey to the NHRA Top Fuel ranks has been marked by relentless work, dedication, and an unyielding passion for the sport. Ida quickly let the world know that she lived up to the hype as she made her NHRA Top Fuel debut with JCM Racing in 2024.

Eight-Time NHRA Top Fuel Champion Tony Schumacher. Schumacher won his first NHRA Top Fuel world championship in 1999 and his eighth in 2014. He won the title six years in a row from 2004 to 2009. NHRA Four-Wide Nationals Winner Justin Ashley was in The Freak Nation Sunday night before next weekend's Lucas Oil Nationals in Brainerd, Minnesota. Ashley was leading the points earlier in the season but he's fourth now. He says it's because the depth of the NHRA Top Fuel field that's contributed to what's turning into a battle for the rest of the season. Bryce Menzies capped off a dominant 2023 SCORE World Desert Championship over the weekend by earning the overall win in the 56th SCORE Baja 1000, teaming up with Tavo Vildosola and Andy McMillin to conquer more than 1300 miles up the Baja Peninsula from La Paz to Ensenada. The win made him the 2023 Trophy Truck class champion with three wins in four races, as well as just the 10th driver in history to have won the Baja 1000, Baja 500, and San Felipe 250. NHRA Top Fuel driver Doug Kalitta stayed undefeated in the NHRA playoffs, picking up his second straight win on Sunday in Charlotte. He's now in the points lead for the first time in three years. NHRA Reading Top Fuel Winner Doug Kalitta checked several special boxes off his career list when he won at Reading a week ago ending nearly three years without a win. Kalitta finished second in the Top Fuel points race in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2016 and 2019. Winning in Pennsylvania, his 50th in a brilliant career, put him fifth on the all-time top fuel wins list. On this episode of the NHRA Insider, Blake Alexander, Lauren Freer, and Brittany Force join host Brian Lohnes to talk about awesome success at Norwalk, making history as an NHRA drag racer, and the potential to win the first-ever Driver of the Year ESPY for an NHRA competitor.    Two-time NHRA Top Fuel winner Blake Alexander had a manic weekend in Ohio. Abject disappointment on Friday night gave way to perhaps the most satisfying and emotionally charged victory of his career on Sunday afternoon. It was his first win since 2018 and Jim Head's first since 1997 when he was a driver himself. The road to this win was very long and hard, and Blake tells the story.    Lauren Freer became the 30th person in NHRA history and the first woman to ever win two classes at the same national event. Her career arc has taken her from Junior Dragster into the deepest end of the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series talent pool. Her victory was spread over two days, one a very long Saturday and the second a very short Sunday. The behind-the-scenes stories from this one are fantastic.    Brittany Force, the 2017 and 2022 Top Fuel champion has been nominated for the second time in her career for the ESPN Driver of the Year ESPY. No drag racer has ever won this award and she hopes to be the first. I'm third-generation in the shoe business. My (maternal) grandfather owned a shoe store in East St. Louis in the 1930s and worked the rest of his career at Brown Shoe Co. in St. Louis in import/export. My father was a traveling shoe salesman for Brown. In 1976, when I was 15, he left Brown to move to Eugene to help start Osaga Shoe Co. as its vice president of apparel. I graduated from South Eugene High School in 1979, and began my first “tour of duty” with the University of Oregon that fall. I was pursuing a degree in mathematics but finding it to be not the career I wanted so I took off a year, which turned into six. During that time I worked for the Eugene Family YMCA and ultimately became its public relations director. I also got married and we decided it was time for me to return to the UO to earn a bachelor's degree in journalism, which I did in 1989. My first job out of college was, ironically, back in St. Louis at public relations agency Fleishman-Hillard, where I was assigned to the Valvoline account. This entailed, among other responsibilities, handling the communications for Joe Amato, a top-fuel drag racer. Joe was really nice, and he actually won the NHRA Top Fuel title in 1990, but doing PR for motorsports didn't exactly thrill me. But my event experience, combined with my communications skills honed at the YMCA and Fleishman-Hillard, made me uniquely qualified for a newly created position within Nike. The first Niketown had opened in Portland in 1990 and a second Niketown in Chicago followed in July 1992. During the next two years, I managed dozens of events in both the Portland and Chicago stores, then added in the grand openings and events at Niketowns Orange County and Atlanta. Working so closely with athletes and Nike Sports Marketing, I realized that Nike needed a sports information department to handle the athletes, their bios and their appearances on behalf of Nike, so I pitched the idea to my boss and was told “go do it.” I put together a proposal to create the Department of Nike Archives, which I dubbed “DNA.” It would feature an historian role to complement what the existing archives department was doing. In other words, we had people capturing the footwear and apparel, but we needed someone to collect the stories behind them. And to take things a step further, to gather proactively the memories and insights of current and former employees and athletes so they'd be preserved and retold to future generations. I was able to get the proposal in front of Phil Knight, who supported it, and in 2005 I became Nike's first corporate historian. I began combing through the existing timelines, annual reports, catalogs, internal newsletters and media clippings to lay out a framework for telling a complete story of Nike. Then I reached out to dozens, and ultimately hundreds, of long-term current and former employees to interview them about their Nike career highlights (and lowlights). In some cases it was to look for further refinement of an existing story (such as how the Swoosh came about) while in other cases it was purely for discovery purposes…sitting down with people and asking them about their contributions to a particular Nike shoe, piece of apparel, ad campaign, etc., and seeing where the conversation led. Over the ensuing years, as I interviewed more and more people, I was able to piece together a much more detailed and nuanced history of Nike, and that in turn enabled me to ask more probing and informed questions in my interviews. And the stories that DNA captured were becoming increasingly sought within the company, especially as early Nike ‘pioneers' retired or, sadly, passed on. DNA became THE resource for Nike's corporate heritage, culture and history. And it remains so today. In 2012, Phil Knight confided in me that he was planning to write a memoir and asked me to help him gather materials from the archive, especially from the earlier years before the company went public in 1980. I spent considerable time pulling together early correspondence, memos and other internal documents, and I gave him a detailed company timeline that I created from scratch (and at that time spanned more than 60 pages). I also sent him transcripts of interviews I had done with several of the earliest Nike employees that I hoped would help spur his own memories. Antron Brown is a 3X World Champion drag racer from Chesterfield NJ. He became the first Black driver to win a major U.S. auto racing championship when he captured the 2012 NHRA Top Fuel series title. He drives a Top Fuel dragster, which are the fastest accelerating cars in the world. With over 11,000hp, they reach speeds of more than 330mph, doing 0-100 in .8 seconds. Yes, that's 0-100 in .8 seconds. Antron has an impressive track record with 71 career wins. Beyond his racing career, Antron was a host on Top Gear America, and was one of Idris Elba's driving instructors in Discovery Channel's “Idris Elba no limits” Brown lives in Pittsboro, Indiana with his wife and their three children. He is active in various community activities including church, NHRA Jr. Drag Racing, Boy Scouts and other youth-related programs.
