This week on Oil & Whiskey, we're joined by Josh Wallace of Reviving Relics.Josh made the trip from Lebanon, Tennessee to talk about how he went from diesel trucks, Peterbilt quality control, and working on Matt Hagan's NHRA crew to starting Reviving Relics and figuring out what it actually takes to run a hot rod shop that can survive. We get into the early days of taking on service work, learning how to quote jobs, tracking time, finding the right customers, building relationships with vendors, and why making a business profitable in this industry is a lot harder than just working harder.Of course, we also dig into Terry's '59 truck, the SEMA push, the Roadster Shop booth, the custom tailgate, the big-window conversion, the thrash to get it done, and why that build became Reviving Relics' first real business card.Josh also talks about building for repeat customers, the importance of the experience, current shop projects like the '70 Challenger, the LT4/T-56 Camaro, the Viper-powered Power Wagon, and what's next for the shop.Add in a '72 F100 first car story, Eagles Greatest Hits, Wild Turkey, work ethic debates, Lebanon pronunciation lessons, and the normal amount of Oil & Whiskey nonsense.
"When it comes to racing top bulb and bottom bulb (same day or not), why do you think some racers elect to switch between box and no box even when they are clearly better with no box? I watch a few racers channels on YouTube and I will notice they are hitting the tree better with no box better than the box runs. Why not just run top bulb with no box at that point? Ego? I have the box why not use it? Maybe just a bad day on the box?"If you've got a topic you want us to tackle, submit it at thisisbracketracing.com/ask. With insights from the TIBR and ELITE brain trust, this episode starts a series of Q&A discussions built around the questions racers are asking right now.

After more than a decade of faithfully chasing his first win, longtime ELITE member Bryan Campbell finally broke through—and he did it on one of the biggest stages possible: a $50,000-to-win event at Mid-Michigan Motorplex. In this episode, Luke celebrates Bryan's incredible accomplishment and shares what happened when Bryan walked the ELITE community through the race, round by round. But the bigger story may be what happened next.Within minutes, the same room went from celebrating one member at his highest to helping another experienced racer regain perspective after a weekend that had completely unraveled. That's one of the hardest parts of ELITE to explain from the outside. It's a community that celebrates the wins, helps you learn from the mistakes and reminds you that none of us does this alone.ELITE isn't a shortcut—and joining won't guarantee your next win is worth $50,000. The work and commitment still have to come from you.But when serious racers surround themselves with the right people, information and support, it can help move the needle.ELITE enrollment closes tonight. As we roll away from Sonoma Raceway where Shane Van Gisbergen took home his second win of the 2026 NASCAR season, one can't help but reflect on the chance Justin Marks took on hiring the V8 Supercars wiz to drive for Trackhouse Racing. This week on the Gluckcast, motorsports reporter Jeff Gluck sits down with Justin to chat about his decision to welcome SVG into the NASCAR fold and what that ultimately did for the Trackhouse team as a whole. They also chat about the state of NASCAR as they move on from the controversial charter lawsuit and into the future with Steve O'Donnell at the helm. Jeff also sits down with fellow journalist Kelly Crandall to ponder the perfect number of road courses on a NASCAR Cup schedule, the return to Chicagoland Speedway and the latest in the NHRA scene. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
