Send us Fan MailA lot of people picture an NHRA Top Fuel driver as someone who grew up with unlimited passes and a polished pipeline to the pros. Our conversation with Jasmine Salinas tells a different story, one built on work boots, family pressure, and a scrap business in San Jose, California that taught her how to grind long before she ever went 334 miles an hour. We talk about what it really feels like to enter drag racing later than most, then have to “fast track” your learning in front of fans, sponsors, and competitors. Jasmine walks us through the moments that changed everything: discovering Top Fuel for the first time at an NHRA national event, realizing women were already winning at the highest level, and deciding to climb the ladder the right way. We get into the unglamorous but essential steps, from licensing and Top Alcohol Dragster seat time to learning how a race team functions day to day. She also shares why she turned down an early Top Fuel opportunity, and how patience can be a competitive advantage when you're building confidence, consistency, and control. We also go deep on the business reality of motorsports funding. Jasmine explains how Scrappers Racing mixes NHRA and IHRA events, why eighth-mile racing can be a smart strategy for part-time teams, and what fans often miss about the cost of putting on a show. If you care about women in motorsports, drag racing sponsorship, or the mindset behind elite performance, this one delivers. Nitro belongs to the people who build the cars, tow the trailers, and wrench late into the night—and that's exactly where we start. We sit down with IHRA Division Director Doug Foley to unpack how a racer-led sanctioning body is rebuilding big-league drag racing around access, value, and raw excitement. Think eight-car nitro fields, a clean two-day show, and five passes to a $50,000 purse—designed to cut costs without cutting thrills.Doug takes us inside IHRA's class lineup, from Top Fuel Funny Car and Top Fuel to Pro Mod, Top Alcohol, and the fan-favorite Mountain Motor Pro Stock. He explains why IHRA's rules hew close enough to NHRA for cross-compatibility while staying flexible for teams sidelined by expensive mandates. We also dig into the hidden economics of safety recertifications and how smarter formats reduce parts attrition and travel burn, giving privateers a real shot. One of the biggest shifts: IHRA now owns multiple tracks, including National Trail Raceway, Milan Dragway, and Galot Motorsports Park. Facility ownership creates stability, consistent prep, and better sponsor value. Add in serious member insurance—robust liability, accident coverage, and income protection—and the message is clear: take care of racers and the show gets better for everyone. We map the season opener in Ohio, the World Finals in North Carolina, and tease livestream details so you can watch from anywhere. If you care about sustainable nitro, big-inch Mountain Motor action, and events built by racers for racers, this conversation is your pit pass. Buckle up, gearheads—it's time to fire up the mics for another nitro-fueled episode of WFO Ignition, the worldwide motorsports pow-wow hosted by the unmistakable voice of NHRA drag racing, Joe Castello! Fresh off a weekend that packed more drama than a last-lap restart at Phoenix, Joe and the unstoppable Ignition crew—Sue Morris, and Matt in Australia—tear into the highs, crashes, and heartbreaks from the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series Championship and the thunderous Dodge NHRA Nevada Nationals in Vegas. First in the crosshairs: NASCAR's epic season finale at Phoenix Raceway, where Kyle Larson etched his name deeper into the history books with his second Cup Series title. The No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy charged through chaos, holding off a charging Denny Hamlin in overtime to finish third and seal the deal—proving once again why Larson's the total package. But it was Ryan Blaney stealing the show with the race win, while William Byron's wall-smashing heartbreak and Chase Briscoe's valiant run left the Championship 4 field littered with what-ifs. The crew debates Larson's dominance, Hamlin's tire strategy gone wrong, and what this means for 2026—plus, a deep dive on Hendrick's record 15th title and the off-season shake-ups ahead. Then, shifting gears to the neon glow of The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where the NHRA Nevada Nationals delivered wheelstanding glory and record-shattering ETs. As the penultimate nitro blast of the season, the action was pure fire: Brittany Force's Top Fuel win, Matt Hagan's Funny Car precision, and Dallas Glenn's Pro Stock mastery keeping the points chase white-hot heading into the Pomona finale. Joe, straight from the announcing booth, spills exclusive nuggets on the side-by-side showdowns, the Mission Foods countdown drama, and bold predictions for who'll hoist the Wally in the season-ender. Expect unfiltered takes on the nitro flameouts, Pro Mod madness, and why Vegas always saves its wildest cards for last. From F1's global sprint to IndyCar's oval assaults, the Ignition squad doesn't miss a beat—tossing in WFO Fantasy updates, Troy's Big Money Minute, and enough bench-racing banter to fuel your commute. No scripts, no BS, just raw passion for everything that goes fast. October kicks off with a bang. Rob, Corndog, and Bernie recap Dallas Kibbe's three-day run at Jefferson Speedway: a breakout Friday-night win away from home—perfect choose-cone calls, smart restarts—followed by the rough side of racing on Saturday with hard contact and a heavy hit that likely totaled the Legends car. The best news: Dallas is OK (no head issues). With the Las Vegas Asphalt Nationals just weeks away, the scramble is on to source a competitive car and make the trip. Bernie's news (presented by National Parts Depot) covers the industry and the track: Bosch trims auto-parts jobs, modern-car “features” that drive us nuts (blinding DRLs, multipurpose buttons), and Ida Zetterström's jaw-dropper .000 reaction time in Top Fuel versus Tony Stewart. There's also a Route 66 “Pavement Pounder” road trip—think keys-in-hand cruise to SEMA with badges and Semafest perks—plus Rob's cursed-but-fun weekend (bank card fraud, a cranky 944 speedo, and one life-changing smash burger). Rob tees up an Ask Rick crossover for The MuscleCar Place: Bob Lutz on EV inevitability and Rick Schmidt's response. Then it's a Dukes of Hazzard rewind—“State of the County”—where Daisy's new flame carries fireworks, Boss J.W. Hickman is played by Larry D. Mann (yes, Yukon Cornelius), and an Oak Ridge Boys cameo caps a leaf-strewn car-chase episode (call it 6–7 Corn Dogs). Sponsors: Holley has fall deals; NPD keeps the parts coming. The two guys are on wildly different ends of their Top Fuel lives but both bring fascinating perspective to the conversation.    For Alan Johnson the conversation takes us through this season and the approach that has placed the team in the thick of a championship run yet again. It moves through Johnson's history in the sport, his evolving approach to Top Fuel racing, and the sometimes invisible elements that make good teams into great ones. His insights into the more hidden corners of the crew chief role are fascinating.    Kyle Satenstein is a racer through and through. Coming from the world of small tire and grudge racing, his path to Top Fuel racing is both interesting and unexpected. Sporting one of the most unique sponsors in the class and the attitude of a successful and hardcore racer, he had a heck of a weekend in Brainerd. The small team nearly pulled off the upset of the race in round one and you'll  hear him tell the whole story.    Two very different men in very different places with the singular passion of NHRA Top Fuel drag racing. Enjoy the conversations.
