Last week was a wild one. We witnessed two of the most controversial models from Ferrari and Mercedes ever to be debuted - none other than the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door and the Ferrari Luce. In case you're not familiar: - The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door is Mercedes' replacement to the outgoing version, which has now gone full EV and straight to battle with the Porsche Taycan. It debuts many new design elements in a slippery 0.22 drag coefficient package, doing 0-60 in as low as 2.0 seconds with an 186 MPH top speed. - The Ferrari Luce is Ferrari's first all-electric vehicle and first true five-seater. It also launches a new and unfamiliar interior and exterior design language from ex-Apple design chief Jony Ive and his collective, LoveFrom. Given that everyone has an opinion on these new EV modes of rapid transport (including your favorite and least favorite journalists, the Italian government, your grandmother, and the pope, to name a few) - we decided to ask, why? What attributes about the Luce and the AMG-GT really make people feel shaken at their core, and why? Would we feel differently if the Ferrari was rebadged as another make? Den får baghjulstræk, 320 hk og en officiel rækkevidde på op til 628 kilometer. Det lyder måske som en klassisk basisudgave, hvor man har pillet pynten af juletræet. Men her er der stadig masser af bil tilbage. Samtidig lander prisen lavere, end mange havde ventet. Pointen er, at mange danskere næppe har brug for firehjulstræk eller topudgaven. Derfor kan iX3 40 meget vel blive den model, der rammer flest. Ferrari går på strøm Bilradio vender også den første rigtige elbil fra Ferrari. Den hedder Ferrari Luce, og den har allerede sat ild til både fans, investorer og kommentarfelter. På papiret er den helt vanvittig. Fire elmotorer, 1.035 hk, 0-100 km/t på 2,5 sekunder og en topfart på over 310 km/t. Batteriet er på 122 kWh, og rækkevidden er over 500 kilometer. Men spørgsmålet er ikke kun, hvor hurtigt den kører. Det handler også om, hvorvidt en Ferrari uden benzinmotor stadig føles som en Ferrari. Og så er der diskussionen om bilens pudsige design. The Mercedes-AMG GT showed its face in 2014 and laid the groundwork for some of the most interesting Mercedes models of the decade. After Mercedes-AMG expanded the GT's offerings by folding a four-door variant into its naming convention in 2018, there were some doubts about the small coupes push for a second generation. Fortunately for AMG GT coupe fans, Merc did roll out a second-generation AMG GT in 2023 during Car Week festivities. This second-generation AMG GT did bring a new set of naming conventions and an all-wheel-drive system but still kept the coupe shell. Whoops. Secondly, GMA allowed Jason a ride in the leftmost (passenger) seat of Gordon Murray's T.50, with Dario Franchitti in the center seat. There's video — and audio. And it's enough to have moved Jason to dethrone the LFA, which he had just pronounced the best sounding engine of all time. The LFA's V-10 sounds amazing — far better in the car than the Porsche Carrera GT, the other best-sounding V-10 of all time (with honorable mention given to the BMW S85 — and every other V10 short of the Viper's.) Alfa Romeo. Elegir uno y solo un deportivo de toda la historia de Alfa Romeo es tarea difícil. Pero lo tengo claro: El Giulia 2000 GTV, o sea Gran Turismo Veloce de 1971… Actual: ¡Alfa Romeo no tiene en su gama actual un coupé! Tentado he estado de elegir al Alfa Romeo 4C que tanto me gustó, pero ya no se vende. Así que, dada la larga tradición de Alfa Romeo en berlinas deportivas, creo que el Giulia Competizione 2.0 litros turbo de 280 CV es un buen representante. Audi. El Audi Quattro. Y es que pocos coches deportivos supusieron un cambio tan radical. Poner tracción total en un coche deportivo para hacerlo más competitivo en rallyes, fue un acierto. Actual: Tampoco tengo dudas, el R8 Coupé V10 Performance Quattro, un coupé con motor central, más de 600 CV y tracción total. BMW. El BMW M3 de la primera serie, el E30 de 1986. Mentiría si dijese que los demás M3 no me gustan, pero el primero es para mí el que mejor representa el espíritu del M3. Actual: Voy a elegir un coche por el que me encantaría cambiar mi MX5: El BMW Z4 sDrive 3.0i de 258 CV y “solo”67.200 €. Una joya… Ferrari. Elegir entre el primer GTO de 1962 con su motor V12 de tres litros, con 6 carburadores y 300 CV y el Ferrari F40 de 1987 con su V8 Turbo de 485 CV, el último modelo lanzado en vida del “Commendatore” no lo tenía fácil. Creo que en esta ocasión voy a elegir el GTO… y es que como representante “Histórico” de la marca, prefiero un V12 atmosférico a un V8 turbo… Actual: El mejor, el más bestia y deportivo, de competición, el 296 GT3. Lamborghini. ¡El Miura! Si no es el coche más bonito de la historia es uno de los más bonitos de la historia, diseñado por el gran Marcello Gandini, con motor V12 y que creo la categoría de los superdeportivos. Actual: Podría ser el Huracán. Pero, ¡por Dios! No un Sterrato. O mejor un Aventador V12. Mazda. Creo que el Mazda RX7 Biturbo de la III generación, con sus 240 CV, es el mejor representante. En el área de miembros hemos hecho un vídeo recordando la prueba que hice de este modelo. Actual: Ahora sí, el MX5, pero el Roadster no el RF, para mí un Targa y no un coupé. Me sigue pareciendo más Roadster que deportivo, pero lo que ha cambiado es que Mazda no tiene otro modelo deportivo. Mercedes-Benz. Sin duda, el SL “alas de gaviota”. No me voy a extender mucho con este coche porque gracias a nuestros amigos de CEROaCIEN hicimos un monográfico sobre el modelo. Pero fue un coche que además de sus espectaculares puertas, aportó muchas cocas, por ejemplo, la inyección directa… ¡en 1954! Actual: Pues sino te conformas con el Mercedes AMG E53 4 Matic de 125.000 € y 435+22 CV tienes el Mercedes AMG GT de hasta 730 CV y hasta 424.570 € Porsche. Esto es divertido, porque voy a elegir como mejor deportivo de la historia del Porsche al peor: El 911-930 Turbo Para mí, en mi adolescencia, fue un icono. Actual: Voy a elegir al 718 Cayman GT4 RS que tiene más 500 CV, que a mí me llegan, pero vale “solo 167.262 €… “solo”. Pero es que el 91i Sport Classic cuesta, para mí no o vale, 324.991 euros. Renault. Entre la berlinetta Alpine-Renault A110 y el R5 Turbo de motor central… ¡me quedó con el 5 Turbo! ¿Por qué? Primero, porque es más “Renault” que el Alpine y después porque Renault “inventó” el correr con coches que parecían normales y corrientes por fuera, pero que eran verdaderos monstruos. Actual: Pero entre la gama actual, no hay duda, el A110 R… Algunos diréis que no es un Renault. Pero, a diferencia del 911, algo ha cambiado: El nuevo Alpine lleva motor central. Toyota. Hay mucho donde elegir, ese es el problema… pero me voy a dejar llevar por el corazón. Confieso que posiblemente Toyota tenga coupés mejores, pero el 2000 GT me parece una belleza. Actual: Esto sí que es fácil, el GR Supra. Si, será fruto de un acuerdo con BMW, pero me da igual, es un excelente coupé, bonito, eficaz y con 340 CV. Coche del día. Muchos ya sabéis que mi primer coche fue un Seat 850 Normal. Y en ese momento no soñaba con un Porsche 911 Turbo, para mi inalcanzable, sino con el coche del día de hoy, el Seat 850 Sport Coupé que también era inalcanzable… pero menos.
