The guys return to the studio this week with Hanukkah gift fails, wizard hat origins, Elon Musk's maybe-flying Roadster, and the main question of the week: is Tucker really moving to Qatar? One can only pray... Also this week features Mossad sharks, Candace Owens contradictions, Nick Fuentes delusions, and Trump's… well, very Trumpy takes. Of course we throw in some drunk raccoons and a noose lapel pin that probably shouldn't exist just to round it out. ________ ** Give the best Chanukah gift this year - A KC Subscription!! ** https://2ly.link/2Tehn ________ ** Book your getaway at Altair Hotel in Miami with Kosher Food, Separate Swimming and more!
In this episode of That Don't Sound Right, Peter and Cecil dive into one of Cecil's most unbelievable real-life stories — the day he actually won a brand-new 1990 Mazda Miata in a high school raffle while he was in pharmacy school. From the shock of hearing his name called, to picking up the shiny red roadster, to the reactions on campus, Cecil walks through every twist of this once-in-a-lifetime moment. The hosts mix nostalgia, humor, and everyday practicality as they unpack the excitement of owning a new roadster… and the unexpected tax bill that came with it. In true That Don't Sound Right fashion, the story ends with a grounded decision that still gets laughs, head shakes, and “you did what?” reactions today. If you love real stories, good conversation, and the kind of luck that makes you say “that don't sound right”, this episode is a ride worth taking. Connect with us:

Perseverance Rover's Exploration of Megabreccia: NASA's Perseverance rover has embarked on a new phase of its mission, exploring a region known as Megabreccia, filled with diverse boulders that may hold clues to Mars' early history. This area, believed to contain fragments from ancient asteroid impacts, offers a rare glimpse into the planet's geological past and could reveal insights about water presence on ancient Mars, as the rover systematically investigates these ancient rocks.Elon Musk's Tesla Roadster: Collision Risks: A study has emerged discussing the potential fate of the Tesla Roadster launched into space in 2018. Researchers liken it to a Near Earth asteroid, assessing its orbit and the probability of collision with Earth. While predictions suggest a 22% chance of impact over millions of years, the likelihood of a collision in the near future remains low, allowing us to breathe easy for now.Discovery of Earth's New Quasi Moon: A newly discovered asteroid, 2025 PN7, has been identified as a quasi moon of Earth, having been in orbit alongside our planet for about 60 years. This asteroid, which will remain in its current orbit for several more decades, adds to the fascinating dynamics of Earth's celestial companions, showcasing the complex gravitational interactions that govern our solar system.Chinese Proposal for Asteroid Apophis Philip: Chinese scientists are proposing a mission to flyby asteroid Apophis during its close approach to Earth in 2029. This ambitious plan aims to gather data on potentially hazardous asteroids and enhance China's planetary defense program, showcasing international collaboration in space exploration.Revolutionary Insights from Distant Supernova: Astronomers have observed a supernova, SN2021YF, revealing the inner layers of a star for the first time. This discovery challenges existing theories about stellar evolution, showing that massive stars can lose significant material before exploding, reshaping our understanding of how stars are structured and evolve over time. For more cosmic updates, visit our website at astronomydaily.io. Marc Tarpenning is Co-founder of Tesla and a venture partner at Spero Ventures. In 2003, Marc and Martin Eberhard saw two signals: GM killed its beloved EV1, and Californians snapped up Toyota's Prius despite its compromises. They realized the market was ready for an electric car that was better than gas, not worse. Their breakthrough: 7,000 off-the-shelf laptop batteries powering a sports car that outran a Porsche and drove over 200 miles. The Tesla Roadster was born, before Elon Musk joined the company.Marc shares how his time in Saudi Arabia exposed him to oil dependence, how NuvoMedia taught him about the pace of battery improvement, and why a software mindset helped Tesla out-innovate incumbents. Now at Spero Ventures, Marc backs founders building solutions that are both economically compelling and environmentally vital, and explains why, to him, EVs have already won.Episode recorded on Aug 12, 2025 (Published on Sept 9, 2025)In this episode, we cover: [05:58] Marc's experience fixing software projects in Saudi Arabia[07:06] Why TELO's compact electric pickup makes sense[09:09] Marc's Star Trek optimism versus Blade Runner dystopia[10:29] On founding NuvoMedia and the first e-book readers[17:40] Brainstorming EVs after the dot-com collapse[20:25] Prius demand proves customers value efficiency[22:18] Reducing oil dependence as national security[24:46] Roadster powered by 7,000 laptop lithium-ion cells[30:28] The Tesla launch playbook[32:14] Acceleration as the hook for high-end EV buyers[37:20] Early interactions with Elon Musk at SpaceX office[40:11] Lessons from early Roadster builds[43:36] Vertical integration only where it truly differentiates[48:15] Why EVs are inevitable[50:30] Marc's thoughts on Tesla today Enjoyed this episode? Driving the electric MG Cyberster sports roadster - launched last year to commemorate 100 years of the MG Brand. The former British brand has been in the hands of the Shanghai Automotive industry Corporation since 2007 – the MG Cyberster, a hero model, as they say, marking a ground-breaking evolution for the MG Brand fusing technology of the future with the legacy of the past. And that is does, beautifully styled in London by the company’s European design director it’s a striking two door roadster highlighted by power scissor doors that create enormous interest. An all-wheel-drive powered by dual electric motors fed by a 77kWh lithium-ion battery – 375kW of power, a thumping 725Nm of torque and a 0 to 100km acceleration time of just 3.2 seconds. For the money its highly specified – the interior a standout in terms of design and execution – beautifully finished and detailed with paint quality a high point – the quality the best I’ve witnessed in a Chinese car. The cabin snug, I’d have liked another 20mm of legroom, the three- screen instrument cluster giving you the impression you’re sitting in a fighter jet. Warranty impressive; 10 years/250,000kms including the battery.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
I spoke earlier of MG’s hero model – the Cyberster Sports Roadster – a striking two door electric all-wheel drive launched last year to celebrate 100 years of the brand. The Chinese have done a great job with MG since 2007 and the local company now has 12 models in the market. The MG Cyberster features dual electric motors fed by a 77kWhour battery and a range of 443km - with 375kW and a thumping 725Nm of torque it powers to 100km/hour in 3.2 seconds. It’s no lightweight at just under 2 tonnes, the underfloor battery meaning you sit a little higher to a traditional sports car. Three drive modes, Comfort, Sport and Super Sport plus a launch mode which is a little gimmicky. Its not tuned suspension wise to hard-nosed levels with enough suspension travel and damping to make it a comfortable day to day driver and not an over-the-top sportscar. Price $120,000 drive-away with a 10-year/250,000km warranty, and the same for the battery. The quality is the best I’ve witnessed in a Chinese car as you’d expect given the sticker price. The MG Cyberster a beautifully styled and executed sports roadster with its power scissor doors giving it an air of sophistication and setting it apart.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Producer's note: Due to some technical kerfuffles, this week's episode sounds less than ideal. We'll be back to top form in no time!Alex, Randy, Howard, and Zac–the whole crew is back together again! Levy; the various on-track attitudes (and interpretations of vintage spec) from event to event; the experience of driving in the race car parade from the track to downtown Elkhart Lake; Spotted Cow; the next tracks on the list; exhausted radiators; some notable names they'll be sharing Laguna Seca with this weekend; and great memories from Malibu Grand Prix. The group close out with several recent collections from the site, hard-to-find hardtops, and other watchlist highlights from this very exciting and high-volume time at BaT. When Michelle Denogean joined Roadster as CMO, the company had a great product—but no one knew who they were or why their solution mattered. Digital retailing in the automotive space was still emerging, and skeptical dealerships weren't ready to dive into their innovative model. Eighteen months later, Roadster had grown its sales pipeline 5X, slashed its sales cycle by 25%, and increased branded search volume by 10X. Not only that—it was acquired by the largest tech company in auto retail for $360 million. So, what changed? Michelle led a full-scale strategic rebrand that prioritized education, positioned Roadster as the industry authority, and rebuilt alignment between sales and marketing teams to boost conversion. In today's case study, this six-time CMO (currently at Mindtrip), author of GrowUp!, and now startup advisor reveals how she built a category-defining brand and used customer-led storytelling, non-social media driven influencer strategy, and omnichannel thought leadership to 10X business. If you're trying to disrupt your industry, this is the blueprint. On today's troubling episode of Quick Charge, we explore all the troubles befalling Tesla (and TSLA stock) in the month April – with top executives fleeing the ship, demand plummeting, sales slipping, government incentives at home and abroad under threat, and a raft of receipts brought on by an OpenAI lawsuit hitting the brand, it's already a bad month for Elon ... and there's still 20 more days to go! None of this even touches on the $43 million "backlogged" rebate scandal Tesla's facing in Canada that's being blamed for people's negative attitudes about the brand (ha!) or the fact that neither the long-promised Roadster 2.0 or the Tesla Semi will see production anytime this year, either. The word you're looking for when you think of Tesla these days is, "cooked."
