Broadcasting from John Hovis's legendary Hemi Hideout in Brookshire, Texas, we invite listeners into a wonderland of automotive memorabilia, rare Mopar muscle, and glowing neon signs. This special venue has transformed dramatically since opening a decade ago, now serving as both museum and gathering place for car enthusiasts. Today's open house welcomes visitors with breakfast tacos, camaraderie, and the opportunity to support local charities through matched donations. Our automotive journey begins with a fascinating look at the 1971 Plymouth GTX – perhaps the most criminally overlooked muscle car of the Mopar golden era. This sleek fastback with coke-bottle curves arrived just as muscle car mania began cooling, resulting in just 2,900 sales despite its impressive 440 cubic inch V8 engine options. The rarest configuration – just 326 examples with the 440 Plus 6 and four-speed manual – now commands upwards of $166,000 at auction, demonstrating how collectors have finally recognized this hidden gem.We also dive deep into the completely redesigned 2025 Infiniti QX80 Autograph, a luxury behemoth assembled in America that competes directly with Escalade, Navigator, and Grand Wagoneer. Beyond its imposing presence and twin-turbo V6 producing 450 horsepower, this seven-passenger SUV pampers occupants with heated, ventilated, and massaging seats in both first and second rows. At $113,965 fully loaded (yes, including that much-discussed $355 umbrella holder), it represents Infiniti's flagship offering in the increasingly competitive premium SUV space.Whether you're fascinated by forgotten muscle cars, curious about modern luxury SUVs, or simply enjoy immersing yourself in automotive culture, join us for this unique broadcast from one of Texas's most extraordinary automotive destinations. Both vehicles were evaluated at GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan. In the second segment, Paul and Tom welcome Don Sikora of Collectible Automobile magazine to the podcast. Shoot us a Text.Happy Election Day! Well, now that we've covered that… today we're talking about how Stellantis listened to dealers and cut prices on some Jeep models, how Tesla has given up on the human-driven affordable EV, and how your name might start being incorrectly spelled on Starbucks cups this fall.Show Notes with links:Stellantis has decided to significantly reduce prices on its 2025 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models to address dealer concerns about high prices slowing inventory turnover.Price cuts range from $3,000 to $7,000, depending on the model, with the base Wagoneer now starting at $61,945, while the Grand Wagoneer begins at $86,945.The U.S. market has shown demand; Wagoneer sales are up 79% and Grand Wagoneer sales up 25% through September, supported by both retail and fleet sales.Standard features have also been enhanced, including adaptive cruise control on the Wagoneer and a passenger display on the Grand Wagoneer.Bob Broderdorf, Jeep North America chief, stated, “By lowering MSRPs as much as $7,000 and enhancing standard equipment... these vehicles have become even more compelling.”Tesla CEO Elon Musk has put to rest hopes for a human-driven $25,000 EV. He recently revealed that an affordable Tesla would only make sense as a fully self-driving vehicle, shelving plans for an anticipated mass-market, human-driven model.Musk called the idea of a $25K human-driven EV “pointless” and “silly” without full autonomy.Tesla's updated plan now features the “Cybercab”, a two-door, two-seat autonomous vehicle priced at $25,000, planned for 2026.This strategy change represents a pivot from Tesla's initial goal of building 20 million affordable, human-driven vehicles annually by 2030.Tesla analyst Seth Goldstein “Tesla realized they were late to making an affordable vehicle versus their Chinese-EV peers… So, they changed their strategy rather than make a large investment to produce a new vehicle.”Get ready for your name to be spelled incorrectly on your coffee cup again. Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol is bringing Sharpies back into stores as part of his "Back to Starbucks" strategy, aiming to revive a personal touch that Starbucks lost during the pandemic. After three quarters of declining sales, Niccol is cutting unpopular items, like the Oleato, and removing charges for non-dairy substitutes.Sharpies will replace digital stickers on cups, allowing baristas to write personal notes or names, enhancing the in-store experience.Niccol's “Back to Starbucks” plan focuses on creating a warm, welcoming environment that highlights skilled, personable service.“Our fourth-quarter performance makes it clear that we need to fundamentally change our strategy so we can get back to growth,” said Niccol.Hosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email

Driving 2025 Ford Bronco Sport Sasquatch: Smokin' Off-Road in the Smokies

The 2025 Ford Bronco Sport has received a significant upgrade with the introduction of the Sasquatch off-road package. Host Jack Nerad drove it just days ago and then discussed the vehicle's nuances with Bronco Sport Brand Manager Mike Weller at a special event outside Knoxville, Tennessee. We'll share that interview with you on America on the Road this week. As off-road fans know, the serious all-terrain Sasquatch package was previously exclusive to the larger Bronco, but Ford is now making it available for the Bronco Sport Badlands and Outer Banks models. It significantly enhances the vehicle's off-road capabilities with features like a twin-clutch rear-drive unit, locking rear differential, and large 29-inch Goodyear Territory All-Terrain tires, giving the likable crossover much greater off-pavement capabilities. The Bronco Sport's Sasquatch package exterior features modular steel bumpers, additional underbody protection, and revised wheel designs. Interior enhancements include an available grab handle and auxiliary switches. As Weller detailed in the exclusive interview, these updates make the Bronco Sport a more versatile small SUV that caters to outdoor enthusiasts seeking both capability and modern technology. And he'll share much more. In the news this week, Tesla Motors is returning to an old marketing scheme by offering cash for referrals. It could save you a substantial amount if you plan to buy an EV soon, and we'll have the details. There's crankiness in Detroit, as a union leader suggests that the CEO of a global automaker should resign in a dispute over the reopening of a factory. We'll tell the who's and why's on that one and what the future of the automaker might hold. The agonizingly slow rollout of the electric vehicle charging network is getting a lot of people hot under the collar. Now the federal government is poised to spend more than $500 million in that effort, and we'll tell you if it could mean you'll finally get some DC fast chargers at a convenient location near you. On a happier note, Hagerty is getting ready to display some full-size versions of classic Hot Wheels vehicles on the National Mall in Washington, DC. We'll tell you when that will happen and share some Hot Wheels stories, too. In our road tests this week, Co-Host Chris Teague got a very early chance to drive Infiniti's all-new full-size 2025 QX80. Does it have the goods to play in the big leagues of full-size luxury SUVs like the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator and Grand Wagoneer? Teague will share his opinion. Across the country, Jack Nerad spent the past week testing the enhanced Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S, a very appealing revamp of the battery-electric-powered U.S.-built compact crossover SUV. Delivering more miles on a charge, the Pro S version of the vehicle might be the best combination of range, performance, charging ability and value VW has ever offered. Nerad will have all the details coming up. In all, we have a ton of show this week. Thanks for joining us. Going Big: 2024 Grand Wagoneer Heads to the Desert

America on the Road

When the Jeep engineers designed the Grand Wagoneer, they certainly took to heart the well-worn phrase “Go big or go home.” That's obvious because when you travel in the long wheelbase version of the Stellantis SUV, as Host Jack Nerad did recently, you are definitely going big. And the Grand Wagoneer certainly provides all the comforts of home. The sizable SUV proved to be the perfect answer for Nerad's recent problem — how to transport seven adults and their luggage from his home on the coast to the desert of the Coachella Valley and back. Certainly, the U.S. auto market has its share of sizable vehicles, but this conundrum could only be answered by a few. After trekking forth and back, the obvious conclusion is that the Grand Wagoneer scores as the best of them. Luxury. Comfort. Convenience. Entertainment. The Grand Wagoneer offered all of those as it whisked the crew across Southern California in a style to which it is easy to become accustomed. Nerad will share more in this episode's road test segment. The other road test took place across the country as Co-Host Chris Teague and his family sampled the new top-of-the-line 2025 Honda Pilot Black Edition. Helping the crossover “man up,” it features a more aggressive design with gloss black 20-inch wheels and blackout accents. Honda's iVTM-4 all-wheel-drive system is standard, and inside, it offers exclusive red-accented leather seating, red stitching, and unique Black Edition branding. Was all this just too much testosterone for the Teague family? Chris will report his findings right here. This week our special guest is Kevin Butt, regional environmental sustainability director of Toyota's North American Environmental Sustainability Programs. Jack Nerad had a chance to sit down with him for a wide-ranging discussion of what Toyota is doing about climate change at a recent event in Texas. We think you'll be fascinated by what he has to say. In the news segment, we ask a provocative question: Is your car spying on you? A new initiative from the U.S. Commerce Department suggests that fear isn't science fiction — it's real. We'll have the details for you coming up. This week, there has been more unrest regarding electric vehicles, as several European automakers are re-jigging their EV launch plans. We'll give you the details and discuss how this could affect us here in America. If you drive an EV you know that the interaction at public chargers can get — shall we say — dramatic. Now, one public charger company is taking a step to limit that drama. But could it backfire? And speaking of EV drama, electric vehicle fires in one country have prompted its government to look into the situation as panic grows regarding the technology. This episode of America on the Road will provide details on all of those stories and more. America on the Road is brought to you by Driving Today.com, Mercury Insurance, and EMLandsea.com , the publisher of Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, which is available HERE on Amazon.com

The Wagoneer has become one of the most loved nameplates of the Jeep empire. While maybe not as attached to Jeep's heritage as the CJ or Wrangler, the Wagoneer and the Grand Wagoneer helped established the idea of a sports utility vehicle in the minds of American consumers. Advertised as a luxurious way to get anywhere, the Grand Wagoneer has since become a hot collector's item. Adding to the Grand Wagoneer's lore is its death. Both Grand and standard Wagoneers were replaced by Cherokee nameplates and helped move Jeep along from its AMC days. Well, Jeep revived both the Grand Wagoneer and the Wagoneer are picking up where both models left off. The flagship of the Jeep brand, the Grand Wagoneer L takes the standard Grand Wagoneer and stretches its shell by a foot. Under the hood, you'll also find the next generation of Mopar power: the turbocharged, 3.0-liter Hurricane I6. On this episode of Quick Spin, Autoweek executive editor Tom Murphy hops behind the wheel of the 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer and puts it through its paces. Murphy takes you on a guided tour of the '23 Grand Wagoneer L and highlights its interior and exterior features. Later in the show, Murphy takes you along for a live drive review to show you how the Grand Wagoneer L performs in real-time. Adding to the show, host Wesley Wren chats with Murphy about the Grand Wagoneer, how it stacks up against the competitive set and the Hurricane I6. Closing the show, the two break down what makes this Jeep Grand Wagoneer L special.

Whoa now, are you looking for more automotive shenanigans and blabber? Then you came to the right place, as Sami and Benjamin are eager to share their thoughts on the latest happenings in the automotive industry. First Benjamin talks about the 2022 Hyundai Kona N, a high-performance, yet front-wheel-drive crossover that may have spelled doom for the first Hyunda N product. Hear how a capital-E enthusiast like Ben feels about a FWD, automatic-only performance car, and then take a trip back in time with him to when weird spicy crossovers were all the rage. Then flyboy Sami talks about his bizarre mission from Europe, where he tested out the not-for-America 2023 Mazda CX-60. The CX-60 features the same platform and powertrain of the upcoming CX-90, just in a smaller package, so now Sami and you, our odeal listener, have an idea of what's going on behind the doors at Mazda. It's easy to forget that this automaker worked on such wild ideas as the compression ignition engine, rotary engine and DEF-less diesel engine, so what can go wrong with another weird change of pace? Benjamin also provides an interesting update on his Grand Wagoneer, and explains why he won't be towing with it anytime soon. For more fun stuff like this weeks episode, head on over to unnamedautomotivepodcast.com, or engage with our guys (@huntingbenjamin and @Sami_HA) on your favorite social media platform."

Sami then shares his thoughts on the European market after having spent two weeks abroad, including some fun road trips in the 2022 Toyota Yaris Cross. The subcompact crossover is quirky and efficient, and managed to impress it's fair share of fans. It's time for another great guest host. Sami and Benjamin are joined by the one and only Stephen Elmer from the Truck King YouTube channel. First the three discuss the new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L, where the L stands for "Third Row," a phrase which doesn't contain a single L within it. Or maybe it stands for "Premium Interior," another statement without the 12th letter of the alphabet. It could also stand for "Baby Wagoneer" or "Bigger Cherokee," but you'll have to listen to the whole episode to get the real scoop on this longer wheelbase, family-friendly Jeep. Then our guest Stephen Elmer brings up the recently revealed 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV, its Avalanche-inspired design, Hummer-derived powertrain, house-capable tow rating, and girthy price spread. Is the world ready for these electric truck wars? Are the roads ready? Are the charging stations ready? (Probably no to all those questions) Finally, the guys get Sami to talk about the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross, a subcompact crossover that will make you forget about the Japanese automaker's previous effort in that segment (the lamented C-HR).

Episode 31, we're officially treading into old man territory (amirite?). This week, we watched the ultimate car movie ever - Moana. Adam had never seen it, and was rightfully impressed. The chip shortage comes up again, since it's still not over, and we segue into AJ telling us how he almost died this past week. BECAUSE OF A PACIFICA. Bruce brings us news of the new Grand Wagoneer, minus the wood panel siding unfortunately. Then the main attraction - we three discuss the past week's drama, when a white Lamborghini Aventador was rear ended by an Audi B8 A4. Two sides to the same story, and the public's rage was aimed all over the place. Then we wrap up the first half with a talk about passing etiquette - from how fast we pass other cars, when we pass other cars, etc. In PART DEUCE, our second main topic of the week, clowns in Florida and California performing what's known as "takeovers" where they illegal impede traffic and shut down public highways. For reasons of a photoshoot (Florida) or for SUVs doing donuts on a highway (California). Clown behavior, nonetheless, and we discuss. A tribute to our boy Harambe (see this episode's cover photo) comes up next, then AJ brings us some trivia. This week's two parter is Bruce and Adam guessing what the best selling car is in various countries, and car names that don't translate too well in their country of sale. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/brokecarsnobs/message
