Dan, Manny, & Billy put the 1992 comedy classic My Cousin Vinny to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST! “[My Cousin Vinny] is a Thanksgiving movie. -Manny This is an absolute lovefest of an episode with My Cousin Vinny quotes flying all over the place. From the start to the end there's nothing but amazing things to say about the dialogue, the comedic timing of Joe Pesci, Marisa Tomei, Ralph Macchio, the late great Fred Gwynne, Mitchell Whitfield, Lane Smith, and Austin Pendleton. The boys try to find plot holes and come up empty, except for their star audience member Long Island artist Andrew Breen (@rocktapusjones_art) who finds one very minor issue. Manny does an amazing reenactment of Marisa Tomei's “Hunting” monologue, they go through the hilarious prison scene with Joe Pesci and Mitchell Whitfield, and the perfectly ridiculous NY character names. In the end, they determine whether this movie passes The Nostalgia Test and discuss why My Cousin Vinny is a perfect Thanksgiving movie. Get ready for a nostalgic trip with these three yutes through possibly one of the best comedies of all time. Just because you build it, they will not come. And you really do need to be solving problems for people and offering them something that changes them and their life and their abilities." - Andy Breen (00:08:57) "...these days especially every product gets about 30 seconds of consideration, you know, at the top. And so you have to have a clear value proposition." - Andy Breen (00:26:19) "There are a lot of stay-at-home moms or like people like engineers doing little SAS side projects and stuff that were turning into real businesses, real revenue, real profits, you know, something that's not often talked about in the venture world." - Andy Breen Lab Notes Lab Note 606.1: Too many product managers underestimate the importance of assessing value risk. Lab Note 606.2: Conducting value research often means holding uncomfortable tensions. Lab Note 606.3: When qualitative and quantitative are telling you the same thing, you're on your way to product market fit. Lab Note 606.4: Continuous Product Discovery has been useful since the 90's, even if it looks different today. Lab Note 606.5: Deciding which customer use cases to replace with AI requires evidence-based product strategy. Many leaders neglect true coaching and empowering. Often, leaders say they are giving their employees their own freedom to learn in their own way. But without proper coaching, teaching, and understanding, employees often take up valuable time before making a healthy contribution to their employer. Andrew Breen used to have a hands-off approach when it came to management. When he first co-founded Outshine almost a decade ago, he gave his employees very little direction. However, as his company started to grow, Andrew recognized a need for more management structure. He created a program that empowers employees with decision-making skills, not just methodologies and tactics. The best news is, Andrew joined us on the Lead to Grow podcast and shared how his management philosophy totally changed his workforce, and added value to his company.

What it’s about Andrew Breen of Outshine LOVES Google AdWords. While SEO is interesting to him, it’s the immediacy, measurability, and amount of data AdWords offers that fascinates him. He definitely hasn’t jumped on the bandwagon that AdWords is overpriced or on its way out. To Andrew, AdWords is the gold standard for digital advertising effectiveness. “AdWords will not be a homerun of value, but it will be a solid single every time. What you’re doing is capturing people when they’re actively looking for the problem that you solve.” In this interview, Andrew talks about some common misconceptions around paid advertising, mistakes people are making, and how to get more from AdWords.
