Being camera ready for photographs is as important as being camera ready for video, and yet, how much thought did you put into preparing for the photo(s) you use in your LinkedIn profile, on your website and the social media content in between? I had a recent photoshoot with my go-to photographer, Nick Coleman, and it was a brilliant lesson in self-compassion, preparedness, and endurance. Nick's ability to see me and help me be seen was a true gift that I do not take for granted which is why I insisted he share his wisdom on Camera Ready & Abel. Nick is an award winning photographer, filmmaker, actor, and screenwriter. Recognized by Backstage magazine for his actor headshots, Nick has also photographed US Presidents and heads of state, and his regular clients include top law firms and financial institutions in New York City. His photo work has appeared in The New York Times, The Economist, The New Yorker, and other publications. In this episode of Camera Ready & Abel Nick discusses the why and how of preparing for a photoshoot, the crucial difference between a portrait and a headshot, and how looking great in a picture is a lot about caring who is on the other side of the lens (the photographer and the viewer) as in show up with purpose and make an emotional connection. Bonus: Learn about micro expressions and what THIS assessment taught Nick. One of the most universally flattering camera angles is to be slightly turned away from and leaning towards the camera. Nick explains that this is the case because the photographed person appears interested in the person on the other side of the photograph. His words of wisdom have me understanding the art of photography in a whole new light. I hope the same is true for you! “I have no doubt that I’ll be a millionaire in the next 12 months.” Man, do I love hearing that! Especially when it comes from someone just like you and me; who isn’t formally trained in marketing, and is just following a very effective system. There probably isn’t a more competitive marketing space than fitness. In fact, it’s extremely difficult (and often very expensive) to carve out a niche. But not long after taking our Power Offer Workshop, Nick Coleman has totally nailed his Power Offer in a fitness “niche within a niche,” and he’s getting incredible results; literally more booked calls than he can handle. Way more. Nick’s experience has shown me, once again, the massive potential of a well-crafted Power Offer. He not only supercharged his bottom line in a very short time frame, but also reduced his client acquisition costs to...well...I don’t want to spoil it. You have to listen to find out. But I almost couldn’t believe it at first. That’s why I knew I had to get him on the podcast. To learn more about Nick Coleman Check out his Facebook Group. You’ll Discover One promise. Three tiers. April was the nadir of the global demand slump from COVID-19 lockdowns while swinging output cuts from OPEC+ and a slump in US drilling hit production volumes across the board. Oil and gas producers have also been grappling with more pessimism over long term oil demand, have written down asset values and some have stepped up their energy transition game. S&P Global Platts senior writer Robert Perkins is joined by colleagues Nick Coleman, Starr Spencer and S&P Global Market Intelligence's Peter Marin to discuss the key themes of the latest earnings season.

Early on in this show, Nick Coleman explains why he’s passionate about his work as the director of strategic relationships for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. He also describes the longtime support credit unions have offered CMNH. While those stories alone are compelling enough reasons to listen to this show, this episode of the CUES Podcast also goes on to talk very practically “cause marketing” and how charitable donation accounts can support it.Coleman defines “cause marketing” as the way an organization directs its marketing efforts both to ramp up and to highlight the good it’s doing in its community. As an example, he tells a story about a credit union in the Midwest that’s rallying youth hockey players in its community to do fundraising to support kids with disabilities and complex medical needs.Cause marketing “is a great strategy to build affinity with both members and employees,” Coleman says. “Plus, it showcases to non-members and your community the value that a credit union brings.” He cites a figure that 79% of consumers expect an organization they do business with to actively strive to do more to support their local communities. In addition, he says, 74% of people say their job is more fulfilling when they are provided an opportunity to make a positive impact. In this episode, Bruce Bauer, executive benefits specialist from CUESolutions provider CUNA Mutual Group, describes his participation in an advisory committee meeting for Credit Unions for Kids, a credit union industry organization that supports Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. He presented to that group’s Orange County, California, chapter about how charitable donation accounts could be used by each of the participating credit unions to possibly add additional donations to their efforts.More specifically, Bauer told the advisory group, and explains in the show, the National Credit Union Administration allows credit unions to expand their investment opportunities to help their charitable giving when they use charitable donation accounts as the vehicle. CUs can invest up to 5% of their net worth into a wide range of investments that are permissible with a CDA. “When they do that investment and they get earnings from that investment, 51% of those earnings, of that total return, have to go back into a 501(c)3 charity,” Bauer says. “That’s where CUs for Kids falls into place. The remaining 49% of that investment’s earnings can stay right with the credit union.“We’ve seen enormous growth with this opportunity—about 127% growth in the last year in investments into CDAs. Interestingly enough … more than half the contributions of those earnings from CDAs we have out there go to CUs for Kids. … So if we can find a way to enhance their investment portfolio to earn some additional dollars through this regulation it’s going to provide additional dollars that CUs for Kids and other charitable organizations can benefit from.”The show also gets into:What credit unions are eligible to do CDAs (all federal credit unions and state-chartered organizations; some need approval from the state)The kinds of investments credit unions can use with a CDASome examples of how CDAs have been used by credit unionsThe impact of current market volatility due to coronavirus on CDAsHow supporting 501(c)3 organizations will be increasingly important as the world tries to find a new normal in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemicTips for doing cause marketing

We are incredibly fortunate as registered nurses to work within a profession that can offer so much diversity. Whether you’re working in critical care areas such as intensive care, or emergency; in the operating theatre; on a cruise ship; in a prison; in rural and remote areas; as an educator; and the list can go on and on. There is one area of nursing that I believe a lot of people have thought of at one time or another; I know I certainly have; that can offer excitement, travel, autonomy, challenge and diversity, career progression, you name it, this job has it. On today’s episode, I'll be interviewing Nick Coleman-Hicks, who currently works as a Flight Nurse, with the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Hailing from Sydney, Nick has worked within areas such as Intensive Care, and Emergency, and has completed a variety of post graduate qualifications including a Graduate Certificate in Critical Care Nursing; and a Graduate Diploma of Midwifery, and has gained some relevant experience practicing as a midwife, which is a vital skill to work with the RFDS. Today, Nick elaborates on how he got into nursing; his incredible career thus far; his experiences as a student midwife; the benefits of working in both ICU and ED; and goes into detail of what his job entails as a Flight Nurse with the RFDS.

"No-one at school had ever given me the attention and, needless to say, it was pretty miserable. I didn't enjoy school and I didn't enjoy being a teenager because of it...when you feel worthless when you're going to school just being that bad...its an awful feeling." I speak to Doug McMaster about how he dropped out of school at 16, overcoming both undiagnosed dyslexia and a lack of education to begin a food pilgrimage that culminated in him launching Silo in Brighton: Britain's first zero waste restaurant rated the third coolest place to eat in the UK by The Times. But before that I speak to The Snaffling Pig's Nick Coleman, winner of Virgin's Foodpreneur 2017, celebrating the UK's best new food and drink business. Back in 2010 Nick founded Medical Supermarket with his business partner Udhi Silva. Udhi then bet Nick that to see if they could set up another business for just £500. They eventually started The Snaffling Pig in 2014 with just the £500 selling premium pork scratching snacks in a variety of different flavours. With co-founder Andy Allen now onboard within two years they were turning over £1 million, had appeared on ITV's This Morning with an advent calendar and have now secured investment from Moonpig's Nick Jenkins on the BBC TV's Dragon's Den.
Nick Watkins can make a case to be the starting cornerback when the Irish play defense but he'll be behind Nick Coleman who has claimed the spot since Watkin's injury. Brandon Wimbush will redshirt this season unless there's injury to one of the starting quarterbacks.

Recently, Nick and Andy pitched their pork scratching company to the investors on Dragons’ Den hoping to gain an investment in their business. In this podcast, we find out about their experience in the den and retrieve some inspiring advice for other entrepreneurs and startups. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
The Irish are desperate for answers on defense and Nick Coleman could answer one of those questions at cornerback. Nick played in all 13 games as a freshman, mostly on special teams, and could play a significant role for the Irish at cornerback.

We’ve also been visited by Yolanda Quartey, the sensational singer with Bristol’s Phantom Limb, whose new album The Pines is out now and who will be featured in the CD with the next issue. She brought with her a couple of live recordings made especially for the Word podcast.

This week Libby Purves is joined by Antony Woodward, Sandy Gall, Nick Coleman and Rosie Wilby. Antony Woodward is a writer and amateur microlight pilot. Fifteen years ago he took part in the Round Britain Rally, a three day competition flying in flimsy machines around the UK. He crashed and almost killed himself. Having stopped flying for years, Antony attempts to enter the rally again - and face his fears for a BBC Two documentary, Wonderland: The Real Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines. Sandy Gall is a journalist, broadcaster and former ITN news presenter. Sandy has been visiting Afghanistan for the last thirty years and has made three documentaries about the country during the Soviet invasion. With his wife he set up the Sandy Gall Afghanistan Appeal charity which provides support to people who have lost limbs in combat. He is the author of War Against The Taliban Why It All Went Wrong In Afghanistan. Nick Coleman is a writer and music journalist. Music had been an integral part of his life for as long as he could remember, but Sudden Neurosensory Hearing Loss changed that irrevocably. Unable to enjoy his greatest passion in life he tries to restore his ability not only to hear but to think about and feel music again. He tells his story in his book 'The Train in the Night: A Story of Music and Loss'. Rosie Wilby is a musician turned comedian who looks back at the emotional rollercoaster of chasing stardom at the height of Britpop in 'How (not) to make it in Britpop' - as part of National Storytelling Week. Producer: Paula McGinley.
Nick Coleman, Guardian music journalist, loses his ability to hear music. He tells producer, Yvonne Nolan. "I can hear beneath the pfffff a drowning choir, accompanied by a tiny monkey playing a teeny pipe organ..." (The Curious Ear, Broadcast 2008)
