Neutrinos are elusive particles that pass through everything, including you, without a trace. But why should we care? Neutrinos could be key to understanding the universe and, intriguingly, UFOs. Tom DeLonge, known for music and UFO research, has speculated that advanced civilizations might use neutrinos for communication and so have countless others. Join us to blend science with speculation and see where neutrinos lead in cosmic mysteries.LINKS to sites and podcast clips used in this video. PLEASE dont copyright strike me! Box Car Racer is a weird and wild look into the mind of Tom DeLonge. At the height of Blink 182's success, Tom and Travis set out to make a harder record, a side project. Things are not always what they seem on this album. Songs that are seemingly breakup songs turn out to be about national tragedy. Tom DeLonge's songwriting is deceptively simple, obfuscating a more complex playing style. The band's existence and how it was communicated to the public seemingly put too much strain on Blink 182, and it went away before it truly got going. This week on Happy Half Hour, our food and drink podcast that won a national award and we'll never shut up about that fact… I try somewhat awkwardly to establish nostalgic bonds with David Kennedy, co-owner of James Coffee Co. James is the younger brother of a longtime friend (Lisa Kennedy, who owns The Corner Mercantile & Eatery in La Jolla). I vaguely remember going over to their house when we were in high school, and I'm fairly certain I falsified a memory of him learning guitar while we tried to study (David is a member of the band Angels & Airwaves with Tom DeLonge of blink-182, and played in Box Car Racer). David co-owns James Coffee Co with his wife, Carina (the way he tells it, there wouldn't be a coffee company without her and her math brain, or at least her insistence that they manage how much money comes in, and how much goes out), and his brother, Jacob. “I got really into coffee shop culture when I was traveling,” David says of the start. “I bought an old popcorn maker and started roasting my own beans.” We have an honest conversation about their efforts to get rid of single-use coffee cups, and be as sustainable as humanly possible without losing their shirt. James was one of the first shops to get rid of single-use cups, and use only durable cups that customers could return and fill. The project didn't really work, he admits. They're still offering it, tinkering with it. But being more environmentally friendly while maintaining a sustainable business model isn't an easy thing, and we talk through that frustration. In “Hot Plates,” big chef swap news this week. Jon Bautista, who was lobbed a James Beard nomination for his work at Kingfisher last year, left to join the wholly resuscitated and thriving SD classic, The Fishery. Meanwhile, the chef that was part of The FIshery's reemergence accepted a job at Callie next to Travis Swikard (arguably one of the best restaurants and chefs in the city). That's a hell of a team now. Downtown gets a new rooftop restaurant, Leave of Absence. The exec chef guiding its light has San Diego roots—Jason Neroni, who longtime food fans might remember as the chef at Blanca in the 00s. Neroni's a talent, and now he's got some operational kitchen wisdom. Good to have him back in the scene. Leave of Absence will be doing wood-fired dishes and brunch options like flatbread pizza with squash blossoms and chicken shawarma meatballs. In the holy-shit sushi world, Sushi Ichifuji just opened—a new 10-seat omakase-only restaurant in Linda Vista, helmed by chef Masato Fujita who previously worked at Michelin-starred restaurants Soichi and Tadokoro. Meanwhile, family-owned Our Green Affair is set to open its third location in Solana Beach this summer, featuring clean, healthy food created when one of the family members was diagnosed with Crohns. And in we can't believe it took this damn long news—agua frescas have been added to the national “harding” movement, where every liquid that isn't motor oil is getting spiked with booze. El Perquito hard agua frescas has opened Miralani Makers District. The famed NYC street cart chain Halal Guys have announced plans to open not one, not two, but five locations in San Diego. David and I discuss our excitement, and at the same time, our love for the hometown favorite Kebab Shop.

In this episode, I give a full list of why I think Travis Barker is the smartest man in the music industry right now. Travis Landon Barker (born November 14, 1975) is an American musician who serves as the drummer for the rock band Blink-182. He has also performed as a frequent collaborator with hip hop artists, is a member of the rap rock group Transplants, founded the rock bands +44 and Box Car Racer, and thereafter joined Antemasque and Goldfinger. Barker was a frequent collaborator with the late DJ AM, and together they formed TRV$DJAM. Due to his fame, Rolling Stone referred to him as "punk's first superstar drummer" as well as one of the 100 greatest drummers of all time. Born in Fontana, California, Barker began drumming at an early age. He began playing for the Aquabats in 1996, but left to join Blink-182 in 1998, which encountered mainstream success with Enema of the State (1999). Barker established himself as a versatile drummer, producing and making guest appearances in music projects of numerous music genres including hip hop, alternative rock, pop and country. He also starred in an MTV reality series named Meet the Barkers. He was involved in a plane crash in 2008, but he recovered and released his debut solo album, Give the Drummer Some, in 2011. He has continued to work with rappers, releasing extended plays with Yelawolf and Asher Roth and Nottz, as well as with Blink-182 and the Transplants. In this episode, I discuss Blink-182's fifth full length, the "Untitled" album. This album proved to be a turning point for the band in their lives and in their career. It was a lot of fun revisiting this classic, and it certainly holds up and stands the test of time. Blink-182, also known as Untitled, is the self-titled fifth studio album by the American rock band Blink-182, released on November 18, 2003 by Geffen Records. Following their ascent to stardom and success of their prior two releases, the trio was compelled to take a break and subsequently participated in various side projects (Box Car Racer and Transplants). When they regrouped, they felt inspired to approach song structure and arrangements differently on their next effort together. Recorded from January to October 2003 with producer Jerry Finn, the album has been described as darker and more mature than the band's earlier work. It also marked a musical departure from their previous efforts, infusing experimental elements, inspired by lifestyle changes (the band members all became fathers before the album was released) and side projects, into their usual pop-punk sound. Its songs are sonically expansive and downcast, leading critics to view it as a more elaborate, mature side of the band. The songwriting is more personal in nature and explores darker territory, touching upon the realities of adulthood and unexpected hardships. In addition, its recording process was long and often unconventional. Fans were generally split regarding the band's "new" direction, but the album proved successful, selling 2.2 million copies in the United States. It received positive reviews, with critics welcoming its change in tone. Lead singles "Feeling This" and "I Miss You" received the most radio airplay out of the four singles released, and peaked high on Billboard charts. The worldwide touring schedule, which saw the band travel to Japan and Australia, also found the three performing for troops stationed in the Middle East. The album was the band's last recording with longtime producer Jerry Finn and their final original material before a four-year-long hiatus. It is also their longest studio album to date, clocking in at 49 minutes. LET'S CONNECT: Kyle's Instagram Kyle's Facebook Email: Kyledevlinfitness@gmail.com

The benefit gig with Goldfinger, Mike and Travis. He also talks about recording with Matt Skiba after Tom Delonge's exit.  Business, Crossroads Restaurant in LA, family life with his kids, MTV reality show, how surviving a plane crash changed his life perspective, drug abuse, relationships and tons more!  MHH153- Travis was on his way home from Blink 182 rehearsals when I got a chance to catch up with him on the phone. We talked about a ton of topics. We got into his day to day routines to bigger sweeping life changes and that includes some behind the scenes talk on making the new Blink 182 album with record producer and Goldfinger front man, John Feldmann. They just released the first single off the album called, Bored to Death. It sounds really good and I love how open the verses are. Just go to Blink182.com to check it out. If the photos below confuse you and you are wondering what this band is with Travis, Feldy, Frank (Feeble) and yours truly is. It was called Travis Barker and the Res-Erections (hehe). A one off cover band throwing down with some 80's and 90's music. A loose set of fun cover songs punked up and a few Goldfinger jams too. We got together for a benefit show to raise funds for the school that Travis' kids attend. It was a really fun night and rad times were had by all. The audience saw something pretty insane that night! And yes, sometimes you just get a phone call from a friend asking for a favor and you find yourself on a non-stop flight to Los Angeles to lay down some low end. I love this life and not really knowing what's gonna happen all the time is part of what makes it so exciting. Scary too but if you aren't a little afraid of the possibilities then maybe you aren't reaching outside your comfort zone enough. Mike and Travis will talk why cruise ships are better than airplanes, killer remixes, and the new Blink-182 record. Forget Meet the Barkers you're about to see a whole new side of Travis as he reveals the pleasures and the pain that shaped him into a music icon. Did we mention tune-in? Tune-in and tell your friends! Find him on Twitter: @travisbarker and @blink182. He was a frequent collaborator with the late DJ AM, and together they formed TRV$DJAM. After the split of his first band, Feeble, Barker began playing for the Aquabats in 1996 as the Baron Von Tito. He recorded one album with them, The Fury of The Aquabats!, in 1997. His career took off when he joined up with Blink-182 in 1998. Barker has since established himself as a versatile drummer, producing and making guest appearances in music projects of numerous music genres including hip hop, alternative rock, pop and country. He has gained significant acceptance within the hip-hop community in particular and often collaborates with artists to compose rock-tinged remixes to their songs.
