Anxiety induced by not being available, or forgetting your phone.    [0:14:08] Story Time: Communication Awareness   Developing Our Own Communication Tool The justification, the goal, the whys and what-ifs. Permissions to Interrupt Is it healthy, or reasonable? Not Having Little ‘Red Dot’ Notifications Waiting for You is Liberating It takes time to reset your expectations and definition of work vs busy work.  You’re More Than a Response Machine Responding to notifications can feel productive, but it can kill creativity and progress by way of context switching.    [0:20:09] Maybe There’s a Better Way Than Always On   Training and Retraining Around Communication Expectations We have been conditioned to get notifications and respond immediately. The list of items that require immediate attention in your organization is MUCH smaller than you’re willing to admit.  Retraining “I need to know right now” is the major hurdle.  The vast majority of “need to know” items can be saved for when you explicitly choose to engage with your email, phone, etc.  Be Willing to Shift Your Understanding of Urgent & Important You’re probably thinking: “But what if we have an emergency?” Here’s why it’s probably NOT an emergency.    [0:24:50] We Tend to “Solve” Management Problems with Software   The Bigger Problem:  How and when you do, or do not, communicate with team members. Don’t Be Selfish Putting Out Little Fires Prevents You From Accomplishing the Meaningful   [0:29:03] There Are Emergencies   But they’re so much fewer than you think they are.  Document and define emergencies, which details on how and when to respond.  Clarity on what is actually an emergency is very important, but use emergencies sparingly.  Don’t let tools dictate how you run your business.  Slack is a perfect example of this.  Why James won’t log into Slack anymore.    [0:32:49] Closing Thoughts   “We all need more margin.”  “Slower and more intentional is usually better.” Next Time on AIB

Russell Whitney is an entrepreneur, philanthropist and a recognized worldwide leader in the business, real estate investment, and financial training fields. Russell prospered in both business and real estate and eventually used his knowledge and experience to help others do the same. Over the past 15 years, he has traveled the world speaking to audiences as large as 10,000, at one time to a fully packed arena. He has spoken alongside luminaries like Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki, Anthony Robbins, and George Foreman, always spreading his message of how to take immediate action to achieve financial goals and dreams by following his easy-to-follow, step-by-step process. Favorite Success Quote “Rock bottom is the foundation that you can build upon” “If you truly want something you will find a way, if you don’t you will find an excuse.” Key Points 1. Fear of the Unknown Disappears when you Commit to Massive Self Education The one thing that holds most people back from achieving the life that they want is not laziness, procrastination, or ignorance. It’s fear of the unknown. When you don’t know what will happen next, it’s easy to become complacent and get trapped in mediocrity. You think to yourself “Things aren’t that bad right now. If I quit my job, leave this relationship, or move to a new city, everything could go horribly wrong!” And these thought patterns keep you stuck in your current situation and prevent you from ever achieving your dreams. So what’s the solution? Massive self-education through books, courses, and mentors. Other people have been where you are right now, taken massive action, and experienced the joy and pain inherent in the goals you are pursuing. Instead of trying to do it all on your own, learn from others. By educating yourself on your goal you will know what obstacles to expect, how to overcome the challenges you will experience, and how to capitalize on opportunities that come your way. When you educate yourself, fear disappears. 2. Sales is the Key to All Financial Success If you want to succeed at business and in life, then you must become a master of sales. There’s no way around it. Regardless of what you do to make money or what your goals are in life, sales is the key to unlocking everything that you want. Want to make millions of dollars with real estate? Then you must learn to sell the leads, prospects, and clients on why they should work with and buy from you. Want to have a beautiful spouse and an amazing family? Then you must go out and sell yourself to your ideal partner and convince them that they should be with you and not the millions of other men out there. Want to lose weight, gain muscle, and get in the best shape of your life? Then you must go out there and sell yourself on why it’s a ‘must’ for you to go to the gym and eat clean every day. Sales is the key to everything. The sooner you can master it the sooner you can have the life that you want. 3. Use Fear of Failure as your Greatest Motivation After the 2008 market collapse, Russel lost everything. He went bankrupt, became homeless, severed ties with his family and friends, and developed a massive drug problem. One night as he was contemplating suicide, he suffered from a drug-induced schizophrenic episode and flushed every narcotic that he had down a toilet. He committed to himself that he was going to get sober and rebuild his life and in a little under 3 years, he went from living on the streets to reaching multi-millionaire status. He told me that the reason he is so “Disciplined” with his finances and lifestyle today is not willpower or a commitment to his future, but rather a crippling fear of going back to rock bottom. In our modern society, we often treat fear as a negative thing. In some cases (as with fear of the unknown) fear can cripple us and prevent us from taking action. But in other cases, fear can be our most powerful ally in driving ourselves towards the life that we want. Learn to harness your fear and you’ll be amazed at the results that you can achieve. 4. The Key to Success is Humility and Drive  In our interview, Russel shared a story about one of his students who was a young 20-something who went from a college dropout to multi-millionaire with online business in only a matter of months. When I asked him what separated his student from the other people he’d mentored Russel’s answer was simple. “He’s willing to listen to people who are smarter than he is and he has a tremendous hustle and drive.” Humility and drive. If you want to achieve your biggest goals, it will not be easy. But it is simple. If you are willing to learn from people who are smarter than you, be humble about your abilities, and obsessed with your craft, you will succeed. Period. It may take months, years, or even decades, but if you are willing to be humble and put forth a tremendous effort, nothing can stand in the way of achieving success. 5. As Soon as You Make Money Throw it Away (Invest) I’m about to give you the secret to financial abundance and freedom for the rest of your life. Are you ready? Here it is… Stay broke and invest every extra dollar you make.  It’s that simple. If you are willing to set a reasonable budget for yourself so that you can enjoy your lifestyle and you are willing to increase your income and invest every single dollar into income producing assets, you will become a millionaire over the course of your life. It doesn’t matter how much money you make or how many bills you have. If you can set a budget, increase your income to exceed your budget, and invest the surplus, you will get rich.

30 Days of Gratitude Day Thirty

As Told by Kole

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 27, 2017 6:49

We are continuing our 30 Days of Gratitude!  If you missed the scoop about why we’re celebrating, be sure to check out Episode One.  Yesterday, I asked a simple question: “What if I told you…?”. Today, we’re going to be discussing Day Twenty- Seven's topic: My Proof. Today I AM grateful for so much.  I got to spend Thanksgiving at Myrtle Beach with my family, and I got to see the wonders of God’s creation every single day.  I’m alive, I’m well, and I’m happy!  I have so so so so SO MUCH to be grateful for.   I’m going to get a little personal today, and I’m going to talk about the proof I have that I AM called to do what I do.  No matter what has happened in my life, no matter how many times people have doubted me and told me that I was unqualified and unfit to do what I’m doing - this one thing has served as constant proof that God is with me and that God has anointed and equipped me for every aspect of what I do.   You may feel unqualified sometimes.  You may feel beat up by the constant criticism of others.  You may find yourself stuck in the comparison trap that keeps you from seeing your own greatness because you’re blinded by others and what they are doing.  However, just know that when God has anointed you, THERE WILL BE PROOF.  Remember that. Let’s get into today’s lesson. “Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are not you my workmanship in the Lord?  If to others I am not an apostle, at least I am to you, for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 9:1-2 (ESV) ~ Today’s Declaration ~ There is somebody somewhere who is waiting to hear my story. In 2012, I started digging into suicide prevention research.  I ran across a story of a girl who had died by suicide after being severely bullied.  As I began to put a conference call together to talk about suicide prevention, I ran across a young lady.  She is a minor, so I won't mention her name.  She mentioned on Facebook that she had attempted suicide the same night that the young lady had.  God told me to reach out to her, and I did.  Awkward!  I did it, though. I wrote her a nice note of encouragement, and then I went on with my life.  Three months went by.  I was heading to sleep, and God told me to reach out to her again.  I said, "Nah, that's weird.  I'm not doing that."  I went to sleep. AS SOON as I got to sleep, I began to cough uncontrollably.  I was so irritated.  God spoke to me again and told me to reach out to the young lady.  Reluctantly, I did.  I said what God told me to say.  She wrote me back.  She told me that she had been sitting there contemplating suicide, and had I not reached out to her, she probably would have gone through with it. Every time God would tell me to reach out to her, I would.  To the glory of God, she has gone from being a drug-addicted teenager who had to go to rehab to someone who has a GED and a job.  Not only that, but she is working toward getting her high school diploma just because she wants to have it.  Let me tell you something: You are not here by chance.  NOTHING that you have gone through is by chance.  ALL of it will help someone get out of what they're in.  God is amazing. Last year, my organization did a sock drive for homeless shelters in the area.  This young lady sent me a Christmas card with a pair of socks in it, and this is what she said: "Merry Christmas!  Not much is going to be in this envelope, since they're small and I can't fit a lot into them.  I'm sending a separate one with the rest.  I know it's not a lot, but I hope it helps, even if it just helps one or two people.  Happy Holidays!" This.  From someone I've never met in person, and would have never even known had God not told me to get online and do research about suicide prevention, which probably would have never even been a thought if I hadn't attempted so many times.  It all works together.  Remember that.  What you have endured,
