Read OnlineMary stayed outside the tomb weeping. And as she wept, she bent over into the tomb and saw two angels in white sitting there, one at the head and one at the feet where the Body of Jesus had been. John 20:11–12Early in His ministry, Jesus cast seven demons out of Mary of Magdala. As a result, she became an exceptionally faithful follower of Jesus. She was most likely one of His followers who provided for Jesus and the disciples out of her own resources as they traveled. She listened to His teachings, witnessed His miracles, was present when He was condemned, stood at the foot of the Cross with Jesus' mother, helped to prepare His body for burial and was the first person recorded in Scripture to whom Jesus appeared after His Resurrection. The Gospel for today's Mass tells the story of Mary going to the tomb early Sunday morning to complete the anointing of Jesus' dead body as He laid in the tomb. But much to her surprise, the tomb was empty. Therefore, she ran to tell the Apostles, which makes Mary Magdalene the first of His followers to witness to the Resurrection. After telling the Apostles, she returned to the tomb with Peter and John; and, after Peter and John left, she remained outside the tomb weeping, as is mentioned in the Gospel passage quoted above.Mary's tears are beautiful. They are an expression of her deep devotion to her Lord. She did not yet understand that He had risen, but her fidelity to Jesus is a testimony to her love. Jesus had restored her dignity. He freed her from the seven demons who tormented her. She most likely had been a sinful woman in the past, but now she was singly devoted to the Savior of the World. The witness of Mary of Magdala is one that should inspire us all. Though few people are possessed by seven demons, we are all tormented in one way or another. We all sin. We all are weak. We all have a past we regret. And we all are invited to do better. Mary's “better” was a life that was given to Jesus with the utmost fidelity. She didn't care if the authorities saw her at the foot of the Cross. If they were to persecute her as a result, it did not matter. She was faithful. She didn't care if the soldiers would have harassed her when she went to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus—she only thought of that last act of love she could offer Him. And when she saw Jesus risen and thought He was the gardener, she didn't care if He saw her heartbroken and in tears—she only wanted to see the body of her Lord.As a result of her unwavering fidelity, Jesus gave her a gift beyond imagination. He appeared to her, after being resurrected from the dead, and sent her to be an apostle to the Apostles. He sent her to go to the Apostles to tell them that Jesus had risen and that He was preparing to go to His Father in Heaven. Reflect, today, upon the holy soul of this woman. She was a repentant sinner who turned her whole life around. She devoted everything to Jesus and, in return, received even more. In Heaven, Mary Magdalene will forever cling to Jesus and adore His Sacred Heart. May we all strive to imitate her by turning from our own life of sin and becoming unwaveringly faithful to our Lord. My resurrected Lord, You appeared first to Mary of Magdala after Your Resurrection. You now invite her to share in Your glorious life in Heaven. Help me to learn from her by turning away from all sin and becoming deeply devoted to You. May my fidelity to You, dear Lord, be absolute and unwavering, so that I, too, will one day share in the glory of Your Resurrection. We're reading through the genealogies handed down over the centuries that trace God's people from Adam & Eve all the way through the exile to Babylon. Remember that each name represents a lifetime and a family: real people with real lives who either trusted in the Lord or who were stiff-necked and rebelled against the Lord. Reading these genealogies juxtaposed against chapters from Ecclesiastes reminds me that one day you and I may just be names on a list to those who come after us, but what the Lord accomplishes in us and through will not be forgotten by the One who formed us, redeemed us, and called us His own. How sweet it is to know that the Lord remembers His people by name.1 Chronicles 5 - 1:06 . 1 Chronicles 6 - 5:34 . 1 Chronicles 7 - 15:11 . Ecclesiastes 11 - 21:29 . Ecclesiastes 12 - 23:17 .  :::Christian Standard Bible translation. All music written and produced by John Burgess Ross.Co-produced by Bobby Brown, Katelyn Pridgen, Eric Williamson & the Christian Standard Biblefacebook.com/commuterbibleinstagram.com/commuter_bibletwitter.com/CommuterPodpatreon.com/commuterbibleadmin@commuterbible.org

Engage with scripture readings, heartfelt devotionals, and collective prayers that draw you into the heart of God's love. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible, where we journey together through the pages of Scripture each day. In today's episode, host Hunter invites us into a powerful reflection on what truly makes God's people different in the midst of life's challenges. As we read from 2 Kings 18-19, 2 Chronicles 3, and James 5, we witness the story of King Hezekiah standing firm against the intimidating threats of King Sennacherib of Assyria. Despite overwhelming odds, Hezekiah's trust in God sets him apart, reminding us that it's God's presence—the true difference-maker—that empowers us to face our own Sennacheribs. Today's reading is rich with encouragement: we contemplate Hezekiah's courageous prayer, Solomon's dedication of the temple, and James's call to patience, prayer, and righteousness. Hunter and guest Heather also share a glimpse into their own journey, as they take time to recharge along the Oregon coast, encouraging us all to savor the gift of life and God's love in every season. Whether you're in need of strength, healing, or just a little inspiration for your day, this episode will remind you to draw near to the One who brings victory and transforms our lives. Let's walk together in God's joy and remember—we are loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The difference maker. The ominous question that Hezekiah hears from King Sennacherib is: why should you be any different? In other words, why should you expect any other outcome than the one everyone else gets? Sennacherib had a track record. If you are looking for evidence to prove your own impending doom, you'll have no trouble finding it. Your own Sennacherib will show up to tell you that you're no different, either. But King Sennacherib had a problem: King Hezekiah was different. In 2 Kings 18:5, we see that Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before him or after his time. The difference was that God had anointed him. God's presence was with him. Instead of rolling over in defeat as some might, Hezekiah rolled with his anointing—he stepped into the presence of the Lord. 2 Kings 19:14 says, “After Hezekiah received the letter from the messenger and read it, he went up to the Lord's temple and spread it out before the Lord. And Hezekiah prayed.” He asked his God—the only God, the God of Israel—to listen, to bend down, to deliver. He asked God to show Sennacherib, and all of Israel, that God's people are not like everyone else, and that He is a God like no other. In verse 19, it says, “Now, O Lord our God, rescue us from his power. Then all the kingdoms of the earth will know that you alone, O Lord, are God." God did that very thing. He proved to Hezekiah, to King Sennacherib, and to all the kings of the earth that He alone is God. He answered the question that crashed in on Hezekiah's heart: what makes you think you are any different? The difference was God. Our God is the difference maker, and He's come to make a difference in your life. He's come to live and abide in us as we live in Him. That makes all the difference in the world. We are able to face those accusations of our own personal Sennacherib, and all those who come to terrify us. We can roll with our anointing and into the presence of God, drawing close to the one who is the difference maker, the one who gives us victory. So draw near to the One who makes the difference. Find your strength in Him. When you hear the words, "What makes you any different?" respond like Hezekiah and roll into the presence of the Lord. Place those accusations at His feet. Ask Him to show you what the difference is once again, so that you might stand up, stand strong, and see the victory that He alone can bring. That's the prayer I have for my own soul. That's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

If you've listened to Keeping It Young for long, you've probably heard Dave refer to the "family altar" but what exactly does he mean when he says that? The next few episodes will explain exactly what he means! In this episode, you heard Dave and Bethlie reference a past episode on Deuteronomy 6. Here is the link to part 1 of that 7 episode series. Here are the notes from today's episode. The Family Altar What is a family altar? The family altar refers to the way a Christian family regularly prays together. It is different than grace at a table. It is a daily time that frequently includes Scripture combined with prayers The family altar is: A family altar is a designated space or time in a home dedicated to religious or spiritual practices, often involving prayer, worship, and study of sacred texts. It serves as a focal point for family devotions, fostering a sense of unity, spiritual growth, and connection to faith. The specific elements and practices associated with a family altar can vary greatly depending on the family's religious or spiritual tradition.  An “on purpose way” for a family to regularly learn spiritual truth and traditions The family altar — a designated time and place at home where the family comes together to pray, worship and experience the living God — is like a firewall against Satan's schemes. Show me a family altar, and I will show you an atmosphere of faith and a house where God's presence resides.-Samuel Rodriquez, Influence Magazine The term “family altar” speaks to a time when the leader of the home gathers the family together to focus on God. For some families, that may mean once a week. It could be Sunday evening as the family prepares for another week. It could be Saturday evening as they family prepares their heart for worship with their church the next morning. Other families might practice it everyday at the breakfast table or at nighttime prayers. Why is the family altar important? God says so – that's why! Here are just a few of the examples of God's stance on the family altar: Abraham was told to teach his children so that following generations would know the Lord (Gen. 18:19). Moses taught that parents were to teach their children to love the Lord all throughout the day (Deut. 6:7). The psalmist taught the necessity of God's people declaring God's greatness to the next generations (Ps. 78:3-7). Solomon taught that if you trained a child in the Lord, they would not depart from that way (Prov. 22:6). Fathers were instructed to teach children in the instruction of the Lord (Eph. 6:4). Why should we have one? It builds unity in a family It teaches Bible truths systematically to our children It makes a statement that our faith is real and valid It focuses our attention on our God It helps to foster peace in the home It is a way to influence our children on a daily basis It provides a way for us to obey the Scriptures regarding our family Links: Want to hear Pastor Dave Young preach? Bible Reading: Psalm 89:8, 11-13Journey and Elise ran to the garage where their dad was working. "Mom says we're going to have a picnic at the park!" said Journey. "Can we go soon?""We want to have time to play on the swings before we eat!" added Elise."Okay," said Dad. "But before we go, I need to wash the car.""Why bother?" asked Elise. "It's old.""You're right. It is old," Dad replied. "But it's the only car we have--and God calls us to take care of everything we've been given. You can help. Then it will get done quicker."The girls reluctantly got busy. Journey mixed soap into a bucket of water while Elise got out sponges and Dad pulled out the hose. They washed and polished the car until it shone brightly. "There!" Dad said. "It looks almost as good as new."Soon they were on their way. At the park, Dad pushed Journey and Elise on the swings, and the girls also had fun on the slides and other playground equipment. Then Mom called for them to come and eat."It's so beautiful here," Mom said as they ate. "The trees and sky and flowers are so pretty."When they had finished eating, Journey and Elise carried the trash to a garbage can. "Thanks, girls," Dad said when they got back. "Though I see some of the stuff fell on the ground when you were walking over and you left it. That's no way to treat this old planet! Go back and pick it up.""Old planet?" asked Journey. Dad nodded. "Just like our old car, this old planet is the only one we have to live on, and God wants us to take good care of it. This may be an old planet, but it's also a wonderful, amazing, beautiful planet--and Jesus promises to make it new again one day when He comes back to get rid of sin forever and restore all creation to the way He intended it to be. Until then, we need to be good stewards and take care of the planet He created for us.""Okay, Dad," Elise said, and the girls hurried back to pick up their trash. –Daryl B. KnauerHow About You?Do you do all you can to take care of this old planet? God gave you this beautiful world to be your earthly home, and He wants you to do your part in keeping it that way. It seems that memorizing scripture is a lost discipline in today's church culture. I rarely hear anyone talking about the verse they are memorizing, nor do I hear people reciting the verses they have learned by heart. Main Points:1. A generation ago, scripture memorization was practiced more regularly. It was talked about in the church. At home, families memorized Bible verses together and practiced quoting them to one another. I remember as a child, my family memorizing Romans chapters six and eight. We also memorized several of the Psalms. Amazingly, many years later, I can still recite many of these Bible verses by heart.2. When we memorize Bible verses, it allows us to internalize the Word of God. This deepens our spiritual understanding and helps us apply the scriptures to our daily lives.3. Putting the Word of God in our hearts and developing the ability to recite verses at any time gives us the strength to fight temptation.Today's Scripture Verses:Deuteronomy 11:18-19 - “Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”Colossians 3:16 - “Let the Word of God dwell in you richly…” Psalm 1:1-2 - “Blessed is the one…whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.”Psalm 119:11 - “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”Psalm 37:31 - “The law of their God is in their hearts; their feet do not slip.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

Is it harder to stay faithful when life falls apart—or when everything goes your way? In this episode, Stephen Davey walks through Genesis 41, where Joseph is suddenly elevated from prison to power. He's now Egypt's second-in-command. He wears royal robes, holds Pharaoh's ring, and commands a nation. But this is more than a promotion—it's a test of character. Stephen explains why prosperity is often a greater test than adversity. While pain can deepen faith, success can weaken it. Comfort can dull your dependence on God. In this powerful message, you'll see how Joseph passes the test. He gives credit to God. He makes wise decisions. He names his sons to honor the Lord. Through it all, he never forgets who raised him up. You'll also learn why prosperity can eliminate faith and weaken character if left unchecked. Stephen highlights the danger of forgetting God in seasons of abundance, and he urges you to measure success by spiritual integrity—not external achievement. If you're praying for blessing, this episode will prepare your heart to receive it. If you're already in a place of influence or ease, it will help you guard your heart. The message is clear: honor God in success the same way you depend on Him in suffering.

With each of these petitions, we see how Christ teaches us to pray for all the good gifts that God promises. In this way, we can see how true holiness in prayer is not according to law and merit but gospel and grace. Do you struggle to wonder what God's will is for your life? Many of us do.Although it isn't a quick answer, the best way to find God's will for your life is to read His Word. The Bible will tell you the answer to that question.Romans 8:31 tells us, “If God is for us, who can be against us?”Actually, finding God's will isn't the hardest part. Deciding to follow His will is where we get tripped up.People need the skill and the discipline of being persistent. Too often, the impulse is to give up and then, if we're honest, pretend that God hasn't revealed His will to us.Good old Abe Lincoln had it right when he said that the only important response is to make sure we are on God's side, not whether He's on ours.God has already told us that He's on our side. He sent His Son, Jesus, to take the penalty for our sin. It doesn't get any more “on our side” than that. Change your thinking a bit. Don't focus on what you think God is supposed to do. Resolve instead to follow God, and to do it every day.Let's pray.Lord, your will is the thing that drives us on, to find our purpose in this life. Thank you for sticking with us. Help us to stick with you. In Jesus' name, amen. Change your shirt, and you can change the world! Save 15% Off your entire purchase of faith-based apparel + gifts at Kerusso.com with code KDD15.

Ron Anderson, CFP® and founder of Plan A Wealth Management, grew up in a farming family in Nebraska where seeds of financial wisdom and deep faith were planted early. After college, he launched into the world of financial advising—but it wasn't until years later, after moving through several firms, that he stepped out to start his own practice, one grounded in biblical truth and eternal purpose.   A turning point in Ron's life came at a Generous Giving Conference, where God stirred something new in him—a vision for radical generosity and bold obedience. Since then, Ron has committed his life and work to listening for God's voice and faithfully following where He leads, no matter how uncertain the path. His story is marked by courageous leaps of faith, remarkable provision, and a deep trust in God's economy.   Ron also shares his conviction that rest is a discipline, not a luxury—both for himself and those he serves. In this episode, he opens up about how cultivating rhythms of rest has helped him, his clients, and his community live more joyfully, generously, and purposefully.   Major Topics Include: Ron's early life on a Nebraska farm and faith background How he viewed money and wealth in his early career His introduction to generosity and biblical money principles Tanking leaps of faith in generosity Growing trust through obedience in giving How God speaks to Ron about generosity Learning rest through learning trust in God Creating a structure for sabbath rest in his life His sabbath plan and rest retreat for generous givers What his family sabbath plan looks like each week How sabbath rest has changed his work rhythm  What he wishes more people understood about generosity and rest Ron's passion for faith driven investing Advice for using a giving account QUOTES TO REMEMBER “If you're listening and you're following Him, He's going to take care of you, give you unimaginable opportunities, and an adventure of a lifetime in the process.” “If you say ‘yes' to God, He will take you on a journey that you will never regret going on.” “I asked everyone else how much to give, but I hadn't thought about asking God.” “God was showing me He was in control of how much money I had.” “All I had to do was listen and obey, and He takes care of the rest.” “God takes us on a journey when we relinquish control.” “Generosity costs me a lot and gives me just as much in return.” “I think we're supposed to give to what God cares about.” LINKS FROM THE SHOW Generous Giving (see our interviews with cofounders Todd Harper and David Wills and CEO, April Chapman) Kingdom Advisors (see our interview with founder, Ron Blue) The Finish Line Community Facebook Group The Finish Line Community LinkedIn Group BIBLE REFERENCES FROM THE SHOW Psalm 127:2-3 | He Gives His Beloved Sleep   It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep. Friends of the Rosary,We continue reciting the Rosary from Garabandal, where the Virgin Mary made herself present between 1961 and 1965, through four visionary girls and many witnesses who played a crucial role during the ecstasies. With the simplicity of a mother, Mary Most Holy gave her children the indications that they needed for the good of their souls. If we do not walk the way of the Cross, if the Eucharist is not the center of our lives, if we are not good, if we do not convert, the Lord will have no choice but to intervene so that we understand the importance of what is at stake: our salvation. The Bishops and the Catholic Church in Spain stated that the messages of the Virgin in Garabandal were “important” and “theologically correct.” The Catholic Church has not officially recognized the Garabandal apparitions, but church officials have acknowledged the doctrinal integrity of the messages.Mary also said, describing the painful situation that the Catholic Church was going through as it approached the conclusion of the Second Vatican Council:"Many cardinals, many bishops, and many priests are following the way to perdition and are taking many souls with them. Ever less importance is being given to the Holy Eucharist. You must turn the wrath of God away from you by your efforts. If you ask His forgiveness with a sincere heart, He will pardon you. I, your Mother, through St. Michael the Archangel, wish to tell you to amend your lives. You are now in the last warnings! I love you very much, and I do not want your condemnation. Ask Us sincerely, and We will grant your plea. You must make more sacrifices. Now God has you where He wants you: you're sending your prayer to the right address. CARE OF SOULS - ADDICTIONIn Care of Souls, a special mini-series podcast from Luther House of Study, Lutheran pastors and theologians come together to explore the deeply personal and pastoral task of preaching to and caring for those struggling with life's challenging situations: addiction, death, family disharmony, and more. Rooted in the theology of the cross and the Lutheran tradition of radical grace, this series offers both theological depth and practical guidance for pastors, church workers, and lay leaders. With conversations, real-life stories, and reflections from the front lines of ministry, Care of Souls equips listeners to enter the broken places of addiction not with easy answers, but with the crucified and risen Christ.Because in the end, it's not about fixing people—it's about preaching the Gospel.Listen to Care of Souls wherever you listen to podcasts or on the Luther House website: Care of Souls - AddictionSING TO THE LORD Martin Luther said, "Next to the word of God, the art of music is the greatest treasure in the world." Williams name for Jesse Gause's name.  We discuss the importance of standing in the office in which you have been called and doing it faithfully.  Sometimes that is a calling in church, a calling in life, or a situation you are placed in.          Where much is given, much is required.  It is true, those who have been given more or know more should be expected to do more.          Finally, we discuss who is supposed to care for those that stand in need.  Who has claim upon the church or the Lord's storehouse?  Who has the responsibility to watch over the down trodden?  Join us this week as we continue to apply the scriptures to our personal lives.Support the show... Become a "Patron Saint"!!

Romans 3:21-31 — When God interrupts human history, everything changes. Up until this point in Romans, Paul has emphasized wrath and judgement for all since all are guilty of sin and under condemnation. The tone of this letter completely changes in this section with these two small words: “but now.” In this sermon on Romans 3:21-31 titled, “The Turning Point: But Now,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones breaks up the text into two main sections, outlining that Paul has finally begun to discuss the way of salvation and the characteristics of the way of salvation. After much talk of wrath and destruction, it seems like a relief to see that the Lord has provided a righteousness and revealed it. This righteousness is by nothing that anyone has done because it is received only through faith. Both Jews and Gentiles can rejoice because this gift was planned before the foundation of the world, entirely by God's grace, and open to all. Dr. Lloyd-Jones points out that everything about salvation points to the glory of God. Any idea that humanity has concerning salvation should always conform to this one passage of Scripture and nothing about salvation should deny any of these statements.

Read OnlineAt the judgment the queen of the south will arise with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and there is something greater than Solomon here.” Matthew 12:42In this passage, Jesus refers to the Queen of Sheba who traveled about 1,400 miles from Southern Arabia, which was most likely located in either modern-day Yemen or Ethiopia, to meet King Solomon. The queen had heard much about Solomon, about his wealth and wisdom, and wanted to find out if all that she heard was true. So she made the long journey and stayed with him for about six months, according to tradition. After spending time with him, she was greatly impressed and bestowed upon him gifts of gold, spices and precious stones. She said to him, “I did not believe the report until I came and saw with my own eyes that not even the half had been told me. Your wisdom and prosperity surpass the report I heard” (1Kings 10:7).This foreign queen was deeply impressed with Solomon. Her journey, gifts and words illustrate her deep respect for him and her admiration. Jesus uses this story to illustrate the simple fact that Jesus Himself is much greater than Solomon and that He should be treated in a way that far surpasses the way the queen treated Solomon. But Jesus also makes it clear that, at the Final Judgment, this queen will rise and condemn the scribes and Pharisees because they failed to see the wisdom and kingship of Jesus. Instead, they came to Jesus, seeking signs and proof of Who He was.In our own lives, the witness of the Queen of Sheba should be a source of true inspiration. She was someone who was powerful and wealthy herself, and yet she wanted to learn from Solomon and to benefit from his great wisdom which was given him by God. She should inspire us to do all we can to daily turn to our Lord and to seek His wisdom.Jesus's wisdom flows to us in many ways. The Gospels are especially important as a source of the most important lessons for life. Personal prayer, reading about the lives of the saints, and study of the teachings of our Church are also essential ways in which we receive the wisdom given to us by God. As you think about the many ways that are available to you to grow in the wisdom of God, try to use the Queen of Sheba as an inspiration. Do you have her same zeal? Are you willing to devote much time and effort to the pursuit of holy learning? Do you desire to journey to Jesus in the way that she desired to journey to Solomon? One of the greatest hindrances to this pursuit of holy wisdom is sloth, or laziness. It is becoming increasingly easy to engage our minds in mindless pursuits. Many people can easily spend many hours in front of the television, computer or mobile devices and waste precious time and energy. Zeal for God and the pursuit of the many truths of faith must become the cure for sloth in our lives. We must want to know. And we must do all we can to increase that holy desire within us. Reflect, today, upon the long journey made by this queen in pursuit of the wisdom of Solomon. As you do, examine whether you exhibit the same zeal that she had and how devoted you are to the pursuit of the wisdom of God. Where you are lacking, let her witness inspire you. Jesus is infinitely greater and wiser than Solomon, and we have been given full access to Him through prayer and holy learning. If you will make that holy journey to our Lord, with much determination, then unlike the scribes and Pharisees, your day of judgment will be a glorious one. My Lord of all Wisdom, You are infinitely greater than the wisest of kings and more glorious than anything I can imagine. Please fill me with zeal, dear Lord, so that I will fervently pursue You and daily journey to You. Please guide my prayer and my study so that Your wisdom and Your very Self will be bestowed upon me. Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving or anything tensing or unrelaxing.  If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes.   Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation:   Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate,  deflate. Scripture for Meditation 1 Thessalonians 1 NIV 1 Paul, Silas and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace and peace to you. 2 We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers. 3 We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. NASB 1 Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy, To the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace. 2 We always give thanks to God for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers; 3 constantly keeping in mind your work of faith and labor of love and perseverance of hope [b]in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father, Meditation on Scripture: As I have mentioned in the past, my mom experiences a degenerative memory that is progressively worsening over time. I'm visiting with her this week. I've been thinking a lot about memory. How much of who we are is generated through memory and Where do memories reside? Some people may say the brain but does that mean if our spirit leaves our body we lose all our memories? It seems that a scriptural understanding of memory suggests that memory is maintained even when we are disembodied, as a result memory is not a human phenomenon.   I love the phrase here in this scripture, to remember before God the work of faith. Our actions in life are objectively seen by God and imperfectly remembered by us. There is a power in our attempts to remember. A powerful way to stay connected to the Lord is to constantly hold Him in our rememberance, to reflect on God's grave and love toward us.  As I was talking with my loved one I was realizing that without memory we cannot live for the future or the past, but only for the moment. We can actively choose faith in this current moment regardless of how imperfect our human memory is.  Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling patient for your own faults and trials. Dr Clark continues the series on the Lord's Supper, Nourish and Sustain. This series explores what the Supper is, why it was instituted, how it has been understood in the history of the church, what Scripture says, how we should understand it, and practice it. The Lord's Supper is one of the two sacraments instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ. A sacrament is a sign and seal of Holy Spirit-given benefits. Where baptism is the sign and seal of initiation into Christ-confessing covenant community, the Lord's Supper is the sign and seal of renewal and personal appropriation of the benefits promised in the covenant of grace. Tragically, since the mid-ninth century at least, holy communion, which is intended to bring Christ's people together, has often been a source of division. Perhaps worse, however, for much of the last one hundred fifty years, the Supper has been much neglected among evangelicals. In this episode, Dr. Clark continues discussing John Calvin's teaching on the Lord's Supper from his Institutes (1559). TODAY'S EPISODE: TODAY'S DEVOTION: TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity.

In this heartfelt devotional, look back on life’s milestones—not as random moments, but as powerful testimonies of God’s faithfulness. Inspired by Joshua 4, where stones were stacked as a memorial to God’s miraculous provision, the message encourages us to establish “stones of remembrance” in our own lives. Whether it's an anniversary, birthday, or a moment of personal breakthrough, every celebration becomes a spiritual marker of what God has done. Highlights: Biblical Encouragement: Reflects on Joshua 4:7 and how God called His people to remember His faithfulness. Personal Application: Through a 25th wedding anniversary celebration, we’re reminded to use joyful occasions as public testimony of God’s goodness. Spiritual Challenge: Encourages believers to boldly celebrate God’s faithfulness, not just in quiet reflection, but in community celebration and witness. Cultural Connection: Highlights how even in modern Christian living, we can reclaim the practice of pausing to praise. “Jesus’ ministry revolved around celebration. He even turned water into wine at a wedding!” Join the Conversation:What are the “stones of remembrance” in your life? Psalm 1:1–2 ESVBlessed is the manwho walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;but his delight is in the law of the LORD,and on his law he meditates day and night.Recently, my friend Jordan sent me a text with those verses and a prayer:“Praying for a newfound delight in His Word. Jesus, captivate us afresh and anew. May we find ourselves delighting in You and Your Word above all else. Thank You that Your Spirit is at work within us to make that possible.”That word "delight" caught my attention. As I mentioned in last week's episode, sometimes just knowing what to ask for is a gift in itself. So before breakfast, I asked for a newfound delight in His Word. I will give examples of what comes to mind when I think of the word delight. One of them was at church recently. I hugged a friend, and in that moment, I felt her three-year-old daughter wrap her little arm around my back. A surprise hug. There's nothing quite like mutual delight—between friends, between family, between us and God.And that's what this episode is really about. Not just delighting in His Word, but delighting in Him. And realizing, He delights in us, too.I'll end with the song “Psalm One” from Scripture Songs, Volume One.If you would like to support this podcast with a monthly or one-time donation, thank you!https://www.sherriyoungward.com/supportTo find out about upcoming gatherings and new projects, please join my email list at www.sherriyoungward.com

Friends of the Rosary,Between 1961 and 1965, in the small village of Garabandal, in northern Spain, the Virgin Mary appeared to four girls, who transmitted Marian messages of repentance, prayer, and sacrifice.Conchita, Mari Cruz, Mari Loli, and Jacinta saw the Virgin Mary over 2,000 times during this period. The Holy Virgin interacted with the girls like an authentic mother, winning them over with her tenderness and affectionate gestures. The Immaculata emphasized the importance of the Eucharist and the need for personal conversion and a "divine reset."At the Pines at dusk, the girls read the text of a message:"We must make many sacrifices, do much penance, and visit the Blessed Sacrament. But first, we must be very good. Otherwise, a chastisement will befall us. The cup is already filling up, and if we do not change, a very great chastisement will come upon us."Mary also interacted with the people who came to witness the apparitions, giving each person who went to see the apparitions a sign or proof of her presence. We pray today's Rosary from Garabandal.Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! The mystery of what lies ahead in our lives is a ubiquitous experience we all share. Until these mysteries are revealed, they are often difficult to prepare for. The same is true when it comes to how the Lord unveils His calling for our lives—we often find ourselves waiting, confused, in the dark until His revelation meets us where we are. It is through our trust in His plans, which go beyond our understanding, and through the faith to hold onto His promises, that the Father's revelation brings light to His commission for our lives, calling us into action for the glory of His Kingdom.   Scripture: Colossians 1: 24-29 Paul's Labor for the Church 24 Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ's afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church. 25 I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness— 26 the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord's people. 27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. 28 He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. 29 To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.

    beacon The Sermons

13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife. And he went in to her, and the Lord gave her conception, and she bore a son.14 Then the women said to Naomi, “Blessed be the Lord, who has not left you this day without a redeemer, and may his name be renowned in Israel! 15 He shall be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age, for your daughter-in-law who loves you, who is more to you than seven sons, has given birth to him.” 16 Then Naomi took the child and laid him on her lap and became his nurse. 17 And the women of the neighborhood gave him a name, saying, “A son has been born to Naomi.” They named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.
