Timmy has spent years guiding hunters through some of the most extreme conditions Alaska has to offer—chasing giant moose, Dall sheep, and brown bear in remote backcountry that few ever get to experience. We'll talk about what it takes to be a successful Alaskan outfitter, the toughest hunts he's been on, and what hunters need to know before stepping into the last frontier. Plus, we'll get into my archery brown bear hunt planned for spring of 2026 and the mindset, gear, and preparation required to make an Alaskan hunt a success. Send a text message to the show! This week we have David Smith, the president of the Mississippi Dog Hunters Association, to discuss deer hunting with dogs. Chasing deer with dogs is a long lived tradition in the Deep South. Clubs exists that lease/hunt thousands of acres and turn out hundreds of dogs. We ask the obvious questions about traditions, how it started, how they operate, their strategy, do they try to manage their herds and of course, how they get along with neighbors that don't dog hunt. There is a lot more discussed and we found it very informative. Did you know George Washington killed his first buck in front of a pack of deer dogs? Listen, Learn and Enjoy. Send a text message to the show! This week we're joined by retired U.S. Fish and Wildlife wolf expert Ed Bangs who was appointed as the Wolf Recovery Coordinator in the mid ‘90's. We were surprised to learn that wolves had the greatest natural range of any land mammal in the northern hemisphere with distribution seemingly everywhere at one point. They are an incredibly adaptable animal and hearing Ed explain the dynamics of the wolf pack is truly fascinating. He explains how wolves were feared, hated and eventually extirpated. Later wolves became a symbol to many people who have pushed to restore them. Obviously this reintroduction has created lots of issues. Ed does a great job of explaining wolves, why we have conflicts, where there are typically problems, where it works and some of the urban legends we have heard about wolves. Not living in the West, wolves are obviously not part of our daily discussions but we wanted to learn about them. If you are interested in wildlife, this one makes sense. Listen, Learn and Enjoy. On this episode of Wild & Uncut, we sit down with the President & Founder of National Rifle League Hunter Series, Travis Ishida. Being a first generation hunter, it is easy to hear the passion he has for the sport. Being a proficient marksman and understanding what it takes to be successful in his pursuit to provide meat for his family, Travis started NRL Hunter in hopes of other hunters/shooters wanting to take their skills to the next level. Whether you're a first time competitor or it's your hundredth match, the NRL Hunter uses the excitement and stress of competition to create realistic shooting scenarios that will test the marksman and their knowledge of their equipment. The goal of "education through competition" is to help make you the most effective version of yourself; the NRL will surely do just that! NRL's mission statement: Hunting isn't merely a hobby or pastime, it is our way of life. For us, it is about community, education, and a strong foundation of ethical harvesting. It is the desire to be the most proficient hunter possible, it is this passion that has driven us to develop the NRL HUNTER series of matches. Travis is a great person and always a joy to talk with...we even took a little time to talk about the most delicious part of the hunt...the wonderful meat we harvest and bring home to enjoy all year long. Lots of great discussion, you'll enjoy it! ********************************************************************* PRESENTED BY: Ruger: http://ruger.com/ Nightforce Optics: http://nightforceoptics.com/ Dead Down Wind, Trophy Taker Rests, Ramcat Broadheads, Rack One & Tink's: https://www.arcushunting.com/ Safari Club International: https://safariclub.org/ Bear Archery: https://beararchery.com/ Trophy Ridge: https://trophyridge.com/category/sights onX maps: https://www.onxmaps.com/ Kifaru International: http://kifaru.net/ Kryptek: https://kryptek.com/ Rocky Mountain Hunting Calls: https://buglingbull.com/ Tetra Hearing: https://tetrahearing.com/ Wilderness Athlete: https://wildernessathlete.com/ CONTACT KRISTY Website: http://www.pursuethewild.com Pursue The Wild Store: https://pursue-the-wild.myshopify.com/ Social Media Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/KristyTitus/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kristytitus/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/KristyTitus Subscribe to Pursue The Wild with Kristy Titus https://www.youtube.com/user/PursuetheWild
