This episode blends passion, perspective, and purpose—and shows that the outdoors is for everyone, no matter where you come from or where your arrows take you. Learn more about your ad choices. Laryngitis turns into an unexpected advantage as the conversation slows down and gets more thoughtful than usual. What starts as trade show chatter quickly becomes a grounded discussion about bows built for real hunting situations, not just spec sheets. Ryan Shutts from Bear Archery joins to walk through the thinking behind their 2026 lineup of bows like the Redeem, Alaskan Pro, Resilient, Adapt HP, and more. The focus stays on adjustability, forgiveness, and why confidence and comfort matter more than chasing maximum numbers. There is plenty of talk about short draw lengths, aging shoulders, youth shooters, and bows that can grow with someone or be passed down instead of replaced. Along the way, there are side tangents on trade show chaos, overengineering, minivans, and why Bear continues to be a first love for so many bowhunters and a brand people return to later in life. A practical, honest look at archery gear through the lens of actually hunting deer and enjoying the process. Presented by Nosler Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Joey Buchanan and his son Joe join the Mississippi Outdoors Podcast to talk about traditional bowhunting — making their own bows, building their own arrows, and hunting at distances most people never experience. Joey explains how he started crafting bows in the late 1980s, while Joe shares what it meant to grow up around the tradition and recently harvest a deer with a bow he built himself from wood taken off their hunting land. They discuss close-range deer and turkey hunting, the discipline and ethics required with traditional equipment, and why the traditional bowhunting community is so close-knit and welcoming. It's a great conversation about craftsmanship, woodsman skills, and a father-and-son tradition built in the Mississippi woods. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Baroness Amos, who was appointed by the Health Secretary to lead an independent rapid investigation into NHS maternity and neonatal care in England, has said nothing prepared her for the scale of "unacceptable care" that women and families have received. Presenter Krupa Padhy is joined by the BBC's Social Affairs correspondent Michael Buchanan and Theo Clarke, former Conservative MP who also chaired the UK Birth Trauma Inquiry and hosts the podcast, Breaking the Taboo, to discuss those initial reflections and what comes next. We examine a new report which highlights the crucial role of strength training and exercise for people on weight loss drugs. Data gathered by fitness professionals, Les Mills and the not-for-profit industry body, ukactive, shows the impact of weight loss drugs on skeletal muscle mass. Their report says that 20-50% of weight loss is lean body mass, which poses significant health risks such as frailty, disability, reduced metabolism, and increased mortality. Physiotherapist Lucy McDonald and Dr Sarah Jarvis join Krupa to discuss the importance of strength training to mitigate muscle loss. Yesterday, nurse Sandie Peggie, who objected to sharing a female changing room with a transgender doctor, won part of her employment tribunal against NHS Fife. She was suspended from her job after she confronted Dr Beth Upton in 2023. The tribunal ruled she was harassed by NHS Fife but other allegations of discrimination and victimisation were dismissed. We hear more from Lorna Gordon, the BBC's Scotland Correspondent, who has been following the case. From Kate Garraway's iconic jumper on The Celebrity Traitors to Lily Allen's album launch dress, bows are everywhere right now. But are they practical or a deliberate gesture of femininity? And why have we seen this resurgence of bows in fashion? The Guardian's fashion and lifestyle editor Morwenna Ferrier and Dr Sarah Grant from the V&A join Krupa to discuss the history and sudden popularity of bows. Presented by: Krupa Padhy Produced by: Sarah Jane Griffiths

The latest episode of Hawaii Football Final, a Hawaii Sports 2Night production hosted by KHON2 Sports Director Rob DeMello and analyst Rich Miano, recapped the University of Hawaiʻi football team's regular-season-ending 20-point victory over Wyoming on Saturday night at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex.Hawaiʻi rebounded from a 28-point loss at UNLV the previous week with a dominant defensive performance, holding the Cowboys without an offensive touchdown and recording 10 tackles for loss. The milestone came on Senior Night, where 26 players were honored following the game. With the win, Hawaiʻi secured its eighth victory of the season, marking only the fifth time in the last 20 years the program has reached that mark. The episode also featured the weekly viewer-submitted “HFF Mailbox” segment and a look ahead at what's next for the ‘Bows.Hawaii Football Final premieres every Sunday at 7 p.m. on the KHON+ app, available on Apple TV, Roku and Firestick, with a televised rebroadcast airing Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. on KHON2.
