Prayer That Actually Moves Heaven: Ask. Seek. Knock. by Pastor Nigel Brown | JO-BERG CONFERENCE

Prayer is not a duty. It is access. In Luke 11:9–13, Jesus links ask/seek/knock to the gift of the Holy Spirit so we learn to pray with structure, persistence, and power. Pastor Nigel Brown calls the church to a prayer revival: praying in the Spirit for strategies, breakthrough, and intimacy with God.https://TakingTheLandPodcast.comSUBSCRIBE TO PREMIUM FOR MORE:• Subscribe for only $3/month on Supercast: https://taking-the-land.supercast.com/• Subscribe for only $3.99/month on Spotify: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/taking-the-land/subscribe• Subscribe for only $4.99/month on Apple Podcasts: https://apple.co/3vy1s5bScripture: Luke 11:1–13; Mark 1:35; Hebrews 7:25; Ephesians 6:18; Jude 20; Romans 8:26–27.Key ideas:• Use the Lord's Prayer as a framework.• Persist when answers delay.• Ask for the Holy Spirit's help to pray God's will.• Let the Spirit give strategy for finances, family, and fruitfulness.• Move from repetition to Spirit-led intercession.Chapters00:00 The Power of Giving02:50 Breaking the Spirit of Poverty06:10 The Cost of True Worship09:05 The Importance of First Fruits11:55 Testimonies of Transformation14:58 The Role of Prayer in Spiritual Growth22:02 Teaching the Art of Prayer25:06 The Necessity of Persistence in Prayer30:03 The Holy Spirit's Role in Prayer37:01 Praying with Authority and Intimacy39:46 Praying in the Spirit46:05 Practical Applications of Prayer52:02 Conclusion and Call to Action

1 Timothy 4:1-161 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 2 through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, 3 who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.6 If you put these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, being trained in the words of the faith and of the good doctrine that you have followed. 7 Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; 8 for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. 9 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance. 10 For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.11 Command and teach these things. 12 Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching. 14 Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you. 15 Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress. 16 Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Recusando-se a sair, sussurrando orou: “Por favor, deixa-me ficar aqui”.

Episode Summary: From middle school cliques to corporate boardrooms, patterns of competition, division, and survival strategies among women persist. Here's the thing though: this isn't about a flaw in women; it's about a flawed system. In this episode of the Advancing Women Podcast, we explore the rise of Queen Bee Syndrome and the "Pick-Me" phenomenon, and what pop culture, psychology, and gender bias research reveal about why these patterns exist, and how we can challenge them. We dig deep into: The cultural roots of Queen Bee and Pick-Me behaviors Internalized sexism, patriarchal bargaining, and the male gaze The myth of women as each other's worst enemy Strategies to disrupt toxic narratives and build true solidarity It's time to move from scarcity to solidarity, from competition to coalition—and rewrite the narrative with the persisterhood at the center. Key Takeaways: “Pick-Me” behavior isn't vanity, it's often survival in biased systems. Queen Bee Syndrome isn't about women being mean, it's about navigating tokenism and structural barriers. Internalized sexism and societal “shoulds” fuel division. Systemic bias, NOT women, is the root issue. Solidarity is the antidote to scarcity. Call to Action: Let's stop shaming Queen Bees and Pick-Me girls and start fixing the systems that pit women against each other. Let's write a new chapter grounded in persisterhood, because together, we rise further. Craig Hemke, Founder and Editor of TF Metals Report, joins me for a wide-ranging discussion on the macroeconomic market movers over the last few weeks and looking ahead to a potential cattle call into gold, silver, and the precious metals equities.  We also dig into the whipsaw copper pricing as a result of the Trump tariff policies and where things may settle out.    Topics we discuss:   Craig walks us through the macroeconomics forces at work between US fiscal policy and Fed monetary policy, and how interest rates trends, and the potential for yield curve controls will likely push the US dollar lower, and the precious metals sector higher.   He points out the jobs report numbers, and downward revisions of the prior 2 months jobs metrics. Craig highlights the potential policy error that Jerome Powell and the Fed have made in delaying cutting the Fed funds rate by pointing to strong jobs figures the last few months as proof of a robust economy. Now it is clear they were not nearly as strong as reported.   Craig feels the pathway forward from the Trump administration is to either remove Powell early, or replace him as soon as possible next year with a dovish Fed chairman that will move to quickly cut interest rates and work in concert with the US Treasury Department.  The plan will be to lower rates to reduce down the burden of debt repayment, but then also to keep spending with fiscal policy to try and grow (and by default inflate) our way out of the current situation.   The US dollar's recent rally may ending up having been a head-fake, which caught some market participants off-sides, as the greenback has already started rolling over lower once again.   This dollar weakness and worse-than-anticipated jobs data has boosted the precious metals sector at the end of last week and we are seeing follow through strength in gold and silver to kick off this week.   We also discussed how copper pricing went on a wild ride building up to the proposed 50% copper tariffs, but then reversed down sharply when it turned out the tariffs were only on finished copper products, but not copper concentrates or refined copper itself.   Craig outlined how silver, platinum, and palladium got caught up in that move higher in copper, and did reverse down initially with copper's crash lower, but have since stabilized and started trekking back higher again with gold.   We wrap up discussing the moves we've seen lately in PM producers on the back of strong Q2 numbers, noting Agnico Eagle's recent barn-burner quarter, and that we are already one third of the way through Q3 with even higher average metals prices.  If people get a sense that these macro forces and higher underlying gold and silver prices are going to stay elevated, then there could be a cattle-call and stampede into the precious metals equities.   Click here to visit Craig's website – TF Metals Report

Explosive Clashes in Trump's Legal Battles: Birthright Citizenship Upheld, Criminal Cases Persist

Trump on Trial

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 25, 2025 3:18

The past few days in the saga of Donald Trump's court trials have felt less like legal proceedings and more like a high-stakes national drama, with major developments piling up almost daily. Let's dive right into the action, because there's hardly time to catch your breath with what's unfolded. The most electrifying headline landed when a federal appeals court delivered a decisive blow to Donald Trump's latest order aimed at ending birthright citizenship. According to NBC4 News, it was a two-to-one decision out of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, where the judges ruled President Trump's executive order unconstitutional. This case was brought by multiple states hoping to block the order, which sought to deny citizenship to children born in the U.S. to parents who are here either temporarily or without documentation. Not only did the court uphold the nationwide block on Trump's policy, but it firmly pointed to the 14th Amendment, which grants citizenship to all born or naturalized in the U.S. The judges emphasized the chaos that would ensue if birthright citizenship applied in only half the country, a scenario they found unacceptable. With the Supreme Court recently limiting wide-ranging injunctions, there was question as to whether this one would stand, but the court found this case did meet a rare exception. The battle isn't over, though. The matter is almost certainly headed to the Supreme Court, so expect tensions—and legal wrangling—to rise.Meanwhile, in New York, Trump's criminal cases are anything but quiet. The New York Court system's official records confirm Trump was sentenced in January 2025 in People v. Donald J. Trump. This case, spearheaded by District Attorney Alvin Bragg, centered on falsifying business records, and although the audio of sentencing made waves earlier this year, it's been a running theme as Trump and his legal team continue to file appeals. Most recently, they've made efforts to remove Bragg's state prosecution to federal court, but that push hasn't gotten traction, facing rejections and denied permissions all the way up to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. On a separate but equally crucial front, the Supreme Court itself figures prominently. Just this week, the high court dealt with emergency stay applications related to Trump administration cases, as documented in official opinions. One particularly notable action: the Supreme Court granted a stay in Trump v. Boyle, temporarily blocking a lower court's ruling that had threatened executive power within the administration. The justices pointed to their approach in a recent case, Trump v. Wilcox, indicating ongoing tension between lower courts and the executive branch in these speedy legal maneuvers. For broader context, the Trump Administration Litigation Tracker from Lawfare Media shows that there are now over 300 active legal challenges tied to executive action or resistance to state laws. These include everything from national security orders to challenges over immigration and civil rights. With dozens of Supreme Court interventions, it's made for a dizzying calendar even seasoned court watchers struggle to follow. Thanks for tuning in to this whirlwind account of Donald Trump's ongoing trials and appeals. Come back next week for more coverage, as these legal turns are far from over. Still, pro-choice activists and Georgia Democrats made their case throughout the day that women deserve the right to bodily autonomy. On with me today to discuss the state of women's reproductive rights in Georgia and the U.S. is Georgia WIN List executive director Melita Easters.------Melita stuck around to share her insights on the dichotomy between (President Jimmy) Carter-era foreign policy - a more heart-felt and hands-on approach that led to the infamous Camp David Accords and the irrational 'Truth Social-led' Trump attempts at "waging" peace on the Middle East with bombs. Then a peak in at a recent segment on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' featuring two New York City mayoral candidates - one Muslim-American, the other Jewish-American. Why I shated this? It shows the coexistence of so-called 'rival factions' in a deeply liberal city and how both sides actually come to a point of agreement on shared values and goals on the left, whereas the right continues to believe, for more than half a century now, that military might and the threat of more of it, will somehow eventually make the suppressed opposition come to heel.

Market Risks Persist After U.S.-China Trade Detente

Markets have reacted positively to the U.S.-China détente in tariffs. Our Chief Fixed Income Strategist, Vishy Tirupattur, digs into the rallies to better understand potential longer-term outcomes.Read more insights from Morgan Stanley.----- Transcript -----Vishy Tirupattur: Welcome to Thoughts on the Market. I am Vishy Tirupattur, Morgan Stanley's Chief Fixed Income Strategist. Today I'll talk about the impact of last week's 90-day pause in the reciprocal tariffs between the U.S. and China, and the impact on the economy and markets. It's Monday, May 19th at 11am in New York.Market response to last Monday's announcement has been resoundingly positive. The S&P 500 was up 4.5 percent in the first four days since the announcement and the year-to-date returns are back in the black after Liberation Day drove steep declines in April.Credit markets have also rallied, notably with the investment grade spreads tightening by over 10 basis points and high yield spreads by over 50 basis points. And the Treasury market took out 50 basis points of rate cuts in 2025, leaving market implied rate cuts by the end of 2026 at around 100 basis points. While these moves across markets are significant, it is really important to put them into perspective and tease out what this detente in trade tensions implies. And more importantly, what it does not imply. On the positive side, we think that the de-escalation reduces the risk of a sudden stop in trade volumes and a sharp rise in unemployment rate. While this is clearly just a truce and we don't know exactly where the tariffs between the two largest economies in the world will end up, it seems reasonable to infer that tariffs in the vicinity of 125 percent or 145 percent are substantially less likely now. Overall, the probability of a U.S. recession, therefore, has fallen on the margin. To be clear, a recession during 2025 was never really our base case. But the de-escalation shifts risks in the direction of a little more growth, a little less inflation, and keeps unemployment rate at near current levels. If the world before Liberation Day was bimodal and close to a coin toss; it is still bimodal, but skewed towards an expansion, not contraction. Since we were in the expansion mode to begin with, this detente gives us greater comfort in our baseline outlook and strengthens our conviction that the Fed will remain on hold for rest of the year. The positive vibes from Geneva not withstanding, we would stress that it is far from clear that the 90-day pause is an uncertainty clearing event. Trade tensions are likely to remain elevated. The administration is still investigating tariffs on pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, copper, and other products. It is also unclear if the template of negotiations between the U.S. and China can work for other regions, especially Europe. Even if U.S. tariffs on imports from China and the rest of the world end up roughly around the current levels, they would still be about four times higher than the levels at the start of the year. This means inflation should continue to move higher into year end, with the surge that peaks in the third quarter. While the impulse inflation from tariffs is likely to be smaller, it still is coming. Likewise, higher tariffs will dampen growth even though recession will continue to be avoided. For risk markets, we think that the detente has reduced the risk of substantial drawdowns. While policy uncertainty about the ultimate level of tariff remains, a return to last month's mind-boggling volatility driven by trade policy is probably behind us. So, it's unlikely that we will see markets revisiting the lows of April in the near term. For credit markets, a lower likelihood of recession is indeed welcome news, especially considering the current strong credit fundamentals. With the market taking out a couple of rate cuts, the all in yields for credit remain in the range to sustain the demand for yield buyers such as insurance companies. Thanks for listening.
