We are LIVE from the Biltmore Cabaret with the FINAL main episode of Blocked Party EVER, and Bryan is here to tell us all about how he had to block his brother-in-law for being a flat-earther. And that's not the only strange Bryan story we get on the episode (obviously), as he fills us in on his overall disdain for nature because mountains don't sing or play music and his penchant for pissing in the drain in the laundry room in his basement. And of course, because it is the last main episode of the show, Stefan graces us with an insane Joey compilation to really bring it on home. Plus, Bryan gets taken to a card show in Vancouver by Stefan where he wins a big prize, Stefan finds a truly unbelievable Rule 34, and someone craps themselves at a Godspeed You! Black Emperor concert. While this is the final main episode of the show (we will also be doing a retrospective episode in the coming weeks but this is the last one in the "BP Format"), the Patreon will continue to live on with all your favorite bonus episode content. We'll continue to do THREE NEW bonus episodes every single month, while the entire back catalogue will also remain available and you get access to all of it the second you sign up. It's well over 150 episodes at this point, and if you want to hear John and Stefan together, our Patreon will be the only place to do it in the coming months before the new show launches sometime in 2025. So head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, donate to the show, and stay with us as we head into this new chapter. Bryan Quinby is a podcaster whose podcast "Guys: A Podcast About Guys" is available wherever you get your pods. You can follow him on Twitter at @murderxbryan. This episode will also be available in video format on our YouTube, though it may take a few days since it was recorded live at the Biltmore as well. Learn more about your ad choices. Alex Goldman (podcaster) returns to the show to tell us about a block he picked up from weird conservative guy Eric Conn, host of the "Hard Men" podcast, for uhh...pointing out that's a strange name for a podcast if you're a guy who presents as an alpha. Our podcast is strange too, as we discuss the TwitchCon cheating scandal, podcast conventions, recording while under the weather, and Bryan's list of best bodily functions. Plus, Alex fills us in on Gamergate 2, John enjoys a throwback funny sports tweet, and we get a clip of Elon Musk talking about hosting SNL that Stefan deems "the worst video to ever be played on Blocked Party", which is an extremely high bar. If you want to see some other horrible videos, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every single month! Some of which we watch horrible videos in! But others, like this week's, are much more fun, as our friend Josh Custodio pitched us on the idea of an interview about the history of Blocked Party as we near the main feed's end. It was a great time! We also have ad-free episodes, an exclusive Discord, and MORE! Also, a reminder that we are going LIVE in a few weeks! Heyyy welcome to this thing of ours. It's an episode of Guys about mafia guys. We talked about my (Bryan) attempts to start a mafia which just really ended up being a group of violent rednecks, we learn about why someone would rat, why hasn't Sammy The Bull been whacked? Then we get some important questions answered by quora. Chris and Dan also bully me about how I act at baseball games and we wind up reading gangster movie reviews and mafia jokes Find everything Dan does here https://www.sullyville.io/ and here is an article that he wrote about the mafia https://www.chicagomag.com/epic/the-last-gamble-of-tokyo-joe/ See Guys Live in October bit.ly/top3weekend10/11 and 10/12 we will be performing at the Biltmore Cabaret in Vancouver. Adam Christie (comedian) is back and not a moment too soon, as he has strangely encountered a lot of genies (?) over the last few months, and needs our help sorting through it all. We sort through a lot of things on this episode, as we discuss the new Beetlejuice Fanta, Star Wars Pepsi, the milk cartons that mooed, working at Blockbuster as a movie snob, and Kirk Cousins' weird jar of stones. Plus, AutoTune the News makes a triumphant (?) return with an assist from Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Stefan checks in on a QAnon account, and there's a Jeopardy! anecdote so insane that John has to have it cross over onto a BP episode. If you want to hear a bunch more crossover episodes with tons of great guests, head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where $5/month will get you THREE bonus episodes every single month! Last week, our good friend Luke Taylor joined the show to discuss the Canadian CGI animation show ReBoot, and it was a grand old time. Jamie Loftus (comedian) is BACK and faces a problem that a lot of us do in the podcasting world: having a reply guy that lets you know every week why they're not going to listen to your show anymore, and trying not to let it get to you. Thankfully for Jamie, she catches a block and doesn't have to deal with this particular person anymore. There's a lot of stuff we don't wanna deal with this week as we discuss undecided voters, nepo babies, and we go really deep on Bugaboo Creek, a Canadian-ish themed restaurant with animatronic animals that Jamie loved as a kid. Plus, Jamie hates the new Twitter algorithm, Donald Trump says yet another insane thing, and Elon Musk sets a new precedent with what is probably the worst tweet of all-time. If you want to hear about more of the worst tweets, you can head on over to patreon.com/blockedparty, where we talk about a bunch of them! For just $5, you'll get THREE new bonus episodes every single month PLUS you'll get access to our entire back catalogue of over 150 episodes. It's the best! Last week, Becca rejoined the show for a mailbag episode and coming up this week, our good friend Luke Taylor joined us to discuss Canadian CGI cartoon ReBoot. You won't wanna miss it! And a reminder we are going LIVE with Top Three Weekend II, October 11th and 12th at the Biltmore Cabaret in Vancouver, BC. We finally went and did it! We brought one of our best friends Felix Biederman from Shocktober and of course Chapo Trap House on to talk about America's fastest growing sport, video games. Chris Locke (comedian) returns to the show to tell us about hitting his breaking point with TizzyEnt, one of those annoying amalgamators who explains a viral video in a flat monotone for 30 seconds before showing said viral video. He sucks, and we block his ass! And there's a lot of ass talk on this episode because...obviously. It's a Chris Locke episode. We go wild. We discuss Meghan Trainor's side-by-side toilets, hold music, Chris' Edinburgh Fringe Festival experience, bidets, and the Spider-Man musical. Plus, Chris is annoyed at having to do lots of promo, Stefan is annoyed at Dr. Disrespect's "comeback", and past guest Justine Stafford shares a wild rejection story from Edinburgh on her own pod that John couldn't help but sympathize with. If you want more way more rejection stories, you can head on over to our Patreon and donate to the dang show! Amar Singh (comedian) makes his first appearance on the show to tell us about a time when self-help just went way, way too far and he had to do some blocking to take care of it. Amar is a comedian, but perhaps more importantly, he is John's former student. So we talk to Amar about being in John's class and getting John to book him his first stand-up gig, which has now led to a career in comedy, for better or worse. We also discuss Amar struggling to find a job due to AI, which of course leads Stefan to create some AI Yodas and also show us a nasty picture he found of a really big Nintendo fan. Plus, Amar also loves the sad cat videos we discussed with Libby Watson on our most recent bonus episode, and the Oasis reunion has us revisiting some of their funniest moments of the last decade including Liam Gallagher's meeting with Paul McCartney, his interview with a kindergarten class, and making their own tea. If you want to hear some more tea, we're spilling it all over the place over at patreon.com/blockedparty! $5/month gets you access to THREE bonus episodes every damn month including the aforementioned Libby Watson episode that just came out last week, where John had to do the blocking due to an insane Jeopardy! fan. Does your underwear smell of poop? If it does, you might be the guy who blocked Chris after an exchange on Twitter borne out of some of the horrible stuff happening in the UK right now. That's right, Chris James (comedian) is finally back on a main episode and we predictably have a lot of fun as we discuss the audio editing of Chris' podcast "Guys", menial jobs, sex underwear, and a weirdo sneaks backstage at a Comedy Bang! Bang! show. Plus, Chris uses an alt account to troll some British nutjobs, Stefan just learns about the Hawk Tuah girl, and Joe Rogan has a brand-new comedy special. Sam Burns (comedian) joins the show for the first time to tell us about a hot tip that he received that the Facebook group for the small town of Woodstock, Ontario, was a happening time...and about how he got blocked from that Facebook group. It's a real "remember some times" episode as we discuss X-rated video games, games that are banned from Twitch, Outlaw Golf, Grand Theft Auto, smoking weed in college, and Sam tells us how he randomly ended up seeing the Michael Jackson concert documentary film "This Is It". Raft (comedian/musician) has returned to the show for another wild ride, as we learn about how they got blocked by the infamous Foodgod, a consort of the Kardashians, who blocked Raft for writing a poem about him. Very rude. The episode, let's be honest, is also rude too, as we discuss napkin bibs, fish sandwiches, our dream fast food meals, night cereal, and yes, poop and Raft's recent top surgery. Plus, we meet a guy whose whole deal is awkwardly singing at celebrities, MLB player Reese McGuire gets called out for jacking off in his car in a Dollar Tree parking lot, and JD Vance is a really huge weirdo. In the world of human complexity, laughter and wisdom intertwine unexpectedly. Buckle up! The moment you've all been waiting for is finally here. Recorded live from the Biltmore Cabaret in Vancouver, the boys sit down with the legendary Dr. Gabor Maté for a live recording that's nothing short of a rollercoaster of emotions and insights. Dr. Gabor Maté, a maestro of emotions and connections, joins the fellas for a journey through the complexities of human development, focusing on the crucial elements of authenticity and attachment. The gang explores the delicate dance between staying true to oneself and forging strong connections with others, and how this tango impacts our mental and physical well-being. Dr. Maté then unveils his latest endeavour, 'Hello Again', a project aimed at mending and enriching the bonds between parents and their adult offspring. He navigates through the choppy waters of managing expectations and the paradoxical power of embracing disappointment to deepen relationships. The chat takes a profound turn as they delve into contemplations on death, the afterlife, and the art of fully embracing life in the face of mortality. And just when you think it can't get any more personal, the gang hits Dr. Maté with a volley of cheeky, rapid-fire questions, revealing a side of him you've never seen before – if you have ever wondered what Dr. Maté's favourite emoji is, then you've come to the right place! We also discuss tote bags, receiving mild criticism, bumper pool, lawn bowling, summer school, Stefan is back with an I Was Poisoned update, and John finds the most cursed gym ever on TikTok. Recorded live at the Biltmore Cabaret in Vancouver as a part of Just For Laughs Northwest, March 8th, 2018.
Most people noticed Meg Remy's U.S. Girls project when she released her last two records, Half Free (2015) and In a Poem Unlimited (2018) on the powerhouse 4AD record label, but she's been releasing records since 2008. The American-born Remy makes a home in Toronto and has done an amazing job of harnessing that city's native talent. I describe Remy as the ringleader of U.S. Girls--which she says is accurate--because she harnessed the talent the more than 20 friends and musicians who worked on her current record, In a Poem Unlimited. We hung out in her tour van as she waited to go on stage at Vancouver's Biltmore Cabaret. Why is Meg the only person in her eight person touring band who hasn't bought any vinyl during the tour? Which president inspired her song "Mad As Hell"? (It's not the one you think.) What's it like for a pacifist to write a song about two women planning to murder their abusers? What does Meg call Basia Bulat? Which Toronto based artist would Remy like to sing the "That Boy Is Mine" duet with? Which track from In a Poem Unlimited does the band not play live and why? You'll have to listen to find out! Tracks played on the radio edit of the show... 1) U.S. Girls, In a Poem Unlimited (2018) "Pearly Gates" 2) U.S. Girls, In a Poem Unlimited (2018) "Mad As Hell" 3) U.S. Girls, In a Poem Unlimited (2018) "Velvet 4 Sale" 4) U.S. Girls, Half Free (2015) "Damn That Valley" 5) U.S. Girls, U.S. Girls on KRAAK (2011) "State House (It's a Man's World)" 6) U.S. Girls, U.S. Girls on KRAAK (2011) "The Boy Is Mine" (Brandy/Monica cover) ** 7) U.S. Girls, In a Poem Unlimited (2018) "Incidental Boogie" ALL songs CANCON except **

Content warning if you can actually make out what Benny is singing about on 'Violent Shiver'.
Uptempo funky jams, an unreleased exclusive by our local fave Tee Krispil, and a lot of future mixed with now fill this hour of Ninth Wave. We're days away from the annual Vancouver Folk Music Festival. Weather looks like it'll be fabulous, and the music will be as well. We had a chat with Jayme Stone, who will be at Folk Fest with a very interesting Alan Lomax project. We also chatted to Jeremy Allingham of Factories and Alleyways, who have a CD release party on July 20 at the Biltmore Cabaret. And, as we have done for many weeks, we featured more festivals; Artswells (Wells, BC) and the South Country Fair (Fort Macleod, AB). So many festivals, so little time! :-)Congrats to Erin, who won 2 day passes to the Vancouver Folk Music Festival. If you're at VFMF, please stop by the CiTR tent and say hi.Have a fun and safe weekend, all! val folkoasis@gmail.com
