https://vyd.co/ForeverEvergreenKelsey Dodd, at just 17, is no newcomer to music. Since age five, Kelsey has been on a steady journey fueled by her passion for singing and the performing arts. From vocal lessons across genres and styles, to musical theater, and training on piano, ukulele, and (a recent dabble in) guitar, she's set to release her debut EP, “Forever Evergreen.” Originally planned as a holiday project of reimagined Christmas classics, Kelsey shares that during the process of selecting songs, she became inspired to create an original track that captures her deep, imaginative connection to the colors, emotions, and memories of the holidays and family. Based in Saratoga, New York, Kelsey brings a vibrant blend of musical influences to her work, from contemporary pop, soul, jazz, and classical sounds. She's drawn inspiration from greats like Barbara Streisand and Ella Fitzgerald to contemporary artists like Adele and Kelly Clarkson, for her ability to sing powerfully, and convey deep emotion through her voice. Kelsey shares that her style has also been shaped by her background in musical theater, where she's learned to give each performance its own narrative. She really commits to delivering the story behind each song—something you'll experience when you listen to “Forever Evergreen.”The EP's title track, “Forever Evergreen,” co-written with Cassandra Kubinski, and produced by Joel Moss and Jim Mastrianni, is the emotional centerpiece of the project. This original song embodies Kelsey's authenticity and love for the holiday season, which she describes as a time when, no matter what happens throughout the year, the holidays serve to reconnect with family, yourself, and the things you cherish most. “No matter what we've lost, no matter what we knew,Who had a golden year or who's feeling blueThose memories wrapped in red on that snow white sceneThe moments that we share this season stay forever evergreen,” she sings in the chorus line. Kelsey describes the Evergreen tree as a symbol of both nostalgia and continuity—a constant rock, much like family and tradition. The color green represents the refreshing, and regrounding elements of connecting with her family, where each time, they get to create new moments with one another. In addition to her original song, the EP includes four classic Christmas covers. She laughs that the selection process started with her bringing a binder full of 30+ Christmas covers to her team that she knew and loved, but needed support narrowing down. Her team comprises Grammy-winning producer Joel Moss, whom Kelsey met through the Saratoga Children's Theater, producer Jim Mastrianni, and musical director Cassandra Kubinski. The team's creative process included brainstorming over dozens of these holiday tracks, finally landing on the songs that sparked the most joy and musical uniqueness with Kelsey's delivery. Joel played an instrumental role helping Kelsey cultivate an animated experience in the EP, full with live instruments like saxophone, clarinet, and organ to capture that classic Christmas warmth. She mentions not wanting to give too much away, but loved some of the creative touches they made to each track; Nat King Cole's “The Christmas Song,” features a nod to the Nutcracker, while “Let It Snow” gets a jazzy twist with playful hints of “Jingle Bells.” Each song infuses Kelsey's emotional connection to holiday memories and colors, and combines nostalgia with the newness of each season. While initially planned as an EP of just covers, the team delightfully realized that an original track would complete the collection, rounding out the project. For Kelsey, “Forever Evergreen” represents more than a musical project. The EP celebrates self-expression, authenticity, gratitude, family, and tradition. Through her music, she hopes to inspire fans to embrace their own roots and cherish the people around them. “This project allowed me to bring myself to the table, to share my memories, and to watch them come alive in the lyrics and music,” she says. It captures a very real and foundational part of herself. As Kelsey steps into her future with dreams of performing and releasing more original music, she'll be headed to NYC to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theater. To readers and future fans, Kelsey offers a closing piece of advice: “Don't be afraid to share yourself with the world, being genuine and authentic can lead to some of the greatest gifts life could give you. Don't be afraid to open those doors.” For a musical reminder to celebrate family and the little things that make this season so special, Catch “Forever Evergreen” coming out November 15th. Today, I'm talking with multi-faceted artist Cassandra Kubinski. She has been with us on the podcast in 2018 and was in our Profitable Musician Summit talking about crowdfunding. Today she talks about how collbas have helped her get more streams, new fans and opened new doors for her.
Today, I'm talking with multi-faceted artist Cassandra Kubinski. She has been with us on the podcast in 2018 and was in our Profitable Musician Summit about crowdfunding. If you want to know about her whole artist journey where she also went through several pivots, you can listen to episode #166. Today, she is going to talk about collabs to tap into new audiences which most probably has never heard her music before. Last year is big on recording and performing. She spent the start of this year performing and meeting with publishers before Covid 19 happened. She has quarantined herself in her condo in New York and she now planned to release the music she has previously recorded. This year is more on collaborations. Previously when she released music, she did a few shows in different locations but wasn't really a heavy touring artist. When the pandemic started, what she did was Facebook live shows and now, she does more of Instagram collabs. She was more focused on expanding listenership in DSPs. How she decided to do collabs: Cassandra checked her life and she asked herself where she would like to have her music and where she hasn't really expanded to. It also came with the fact that it is overwhelming to do everything yourself. She resorted to collabs, not just to increase results but also to have more fun, feel less alone and feel a sense of teamwork. Being passionate about Yoga and mindfulness, she explored how she can link it to music and found DJ Taz Rashid. So now, she has created a collab with him for a remix of her song and it also includes collaboration with other yoga-focused artists. How to approach other artists for collabs: 1 - Research. It will show you if you really want to pursue the target you want to pursue. If you become more aware of what other artists is up to, you can use that as basis of what pitching to them as to why they should work with you (apart from confirming you want to work with them). 2 - Finding contact details. Apart from pitching via email, she also tailor fits her messages and sends messages via DMs. Once you get their interest enough for them to respond, make sure you have an answer when they ask, "What do you have in mind?" Some artists may work with you for free but some may ask for payment, but make sure you have a contract just in case. It is your decision if the artist is a worthwhile investment but make sure you have a clear agreement. Outcome of her collab with Taz Rashid: Her monthly listenership on Spotify more than doubled. Previously, her old songs were the most popular but doing the collab allowed her newest release to become the most popular. Increased listenership led her to create a music video for its promotion. Doing her collab with an artist in the yoga space expanded her potential as a live artist in that space as well. Collab with Hannah Grace Colin: She looked at the other artists involved in Season 8 of Dance Moms which Cassandra previously worked with. She found Hannah Grace Colin whom she think she would vibe with. She reached out through Hannah's father seeing Cassandra's comment on one of Hannah's YouTube video. Cassandra commented since she wasn't really able to find another way to contact her. Hannah had more following than Cassandra but through talking with Hannah and her parents, she was able to discover some other things that would be beneficial for Hannah. About collab with organizations: Aside from collab with other artists, Cassandra also collabs with organizations. The two biggest projects were for autism and for pet rescue. The newer song, "You Get Me", is to support pet rescue and adoption. She originally did a music video concept for a commercial pitch. They didn't get the commercial but they reached out to women in music and Jam Murphy reached back. They came back with an idea for a video with fitness models with their rescue dogs. Then she thought, "Who is this gonna benefit"? Then... Support this podcast
We can only grow and do so much by ourselves. That is why many thrive best when reaching out to others for help. In the music industry, one of the great avenues to grow your audience is by using collaborations. In this episode, Bree Noble is joined by singer-songwriter Cassandra Kubinski to talk about the opportunities that open up with collaboration and how creating partnerships with other artists drive good results in listenership and fanship. She shares her recent collabs and the process it took to develop that relationship not only with fellow singers but other artists and even organizations as well. Join Cassandara in this conversation as she lets us in on more benefits of collaboration and using music to heal, help, and contribute to communities and causes.

You Get MeA song and video to support animal adoption and sheltersAs you know our lives revolve around music and dogs and animal rescue. So when all of our passions collide and I mean collide in a good way we get excited. Download the song here https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/you-get-me-ep/1449472160?app=music&ign-mpt=uo%3D4 See YOU GET ME herehttps://youtu.be/8-A6BFVDOIAEach year, over 6 million dogs and cats enter US animal shelters. Over 3 million are adopted yet an estimated 1.5 million are euthanized. That number is unacceptable. YOU GET ME was written to support awareness for, and encouragement of, pet adoption, and is meant to raise money for the incredible organizations and shelters that carry out this mission 24/7 every day...because as you know Rescue is not a 9-5 job it’s a 24/7 passion. Written from the perspective of pet owner to their pet, the jaunty...oh you know how I love the word jaunty it’s a staple of mine….the jaunty and whimsical song expresses the love we people have for our pets, the ones who “get us” no matter what else is going on this crazy world, the ones who make space for us to just be, who love us unconditionally. That line in the song is one I connect with because you can be yourself with your pets. The video includes a variety of dogs, as well as crowd-submitted videos of actual people with their rescued pets. You instantly connect with this heartwarming video. YOU GET ME is written and performed by Billboard-charting singer/songwriter Cassandra Kubinski and veteran producer, actor and voice talent giant Tony Daniels. They’re no strangers to fundraising as a previous us song of theirs Called Not So different raised over $25,000. It was an Autism anthem benefiting the Institute for Autism Research. YOU GET ME stands to benefit the millions of dogs, cats, and other pets looking for their furr-ever home by raising both awareness and money through song sales, performances, and events. “Man’s best friends” bring so much joy to our lives, and we are passionate about being “best friends” to them in return with YOU GET ME. Accompanying the song is a video and I’ll be linking that up in the notes and sharing it across my social media profiles. Raising funds for animal Rescue takes time, talent, a network of animal loving professionals and media to support a mission and put it not only in front of animal lovers but potential adopters and I’m thrilled that we can be of support to Cassandra and Tony. The song is now available on Spotify, iTunes, google play and Amazon music. I’ll provide the link in the show notes once the show is archived and across my social media network. I do hope you’ll purchase the song and share with your friends and family. It’s a fabulous fun song celebrating the unique relationships we share with our pets. Knowing how special that relationship is and supporting the mission through the purchase of the song other people can experience that special love too. I would hate for anyone to miss out on the best relationship they could ever have by adopting a pet.

Ross Brand with your Livestream Universe Update and Flash Briefing for Wednesday, April 18th, 2018. Technode is reporting China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism shut down 370 live streaming apps after examining nearly 5-thousand of them. There are also some major players in China’s livestream industry that are under investigation, including two that received a combined one billion dollars in funding. Areas being investigated include content that promotes “violence, pornography, gambling, superstition, and other values harmful to public morality.” Beyonce racked up the highest YouTube livestream viewership of any performance in Coachella’s history. She had 458,000 simultaneous live viewers during her Saturday set. Our Wednesday Spotlight theme features musicians who livestream: Azania Noah is an international singer, song-writer and recording artist. She’s been invited to perform for 4 heads of state and in some of the most prestigious venues in the world. Azania won first prize in a French TV competition similar to American Idol. She was also featured on “The Voice” in France, seen by more than 8 million viewers. In addition to sharing her singing voice on livestreams, Azania uses live video meetings to provide vocal training and career coaching to aspiring singers through her Singer Elite program. Claudia Santiago is also a bilingual singer and international recording artist who performs live in many different musical styles. Claudia has a new album coming out soon. Her live streaming talk shows cover a wide range of topics including health, careers, women’s empowerment and art. She also livestreams her rehearsals. Ross Brand with your Livestream Universe Update and Flash Briefing for Wednesday, April 18th, 2018. Technode is reporting China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism shut down 370 live streaming apps after examining nearly 5-thousand of them. There are also some major players in China's livestream industry that are under investigation, including two that received a combined one billion dollars in funding. Areas being investigated include content that promotes “violence, pornography, gambling, superstition, and other values harmful to public morality.” Beyonce racked up the highest YouTube livestream viewership of any performance in Coachella's history. She had 458,000 simultaneous live viewers during her Saturday set. Our Wednesday Spotlight theme features musicians who livestream: Azania Noah is an international singer, song-writer and recording artist. She's been invited to perform for 4 heads of state and in some of the most prestigious venues in the world. Her live streaming talk shows cover a wide range of topics including health, careers, women's empowerment and art. She also livestreams her rehearsals.
