This is it, it's the final regular episode we will have for a while. Frequency 101 is ending for now but maybe not forever. Who knows, maybe another global pandemic will force us to find new creative outlets and we can dust off this old gem for another ride into the sunset. In the meantime though, you can still submit to Channel 101. I dare someone to submit an audio show to Channel 101. Who's going to do it first? Think about it, the audience finishes watching episode 12 of Quack Cop: Megaduck then on comes your pilot. It's just a poster of your show and we can only hear voices and sound design. Now that's a good show! In this episode you will hear some extended versions of the returning Prime Time shows. When we decided this was the last competition, everyone was allowed to make longer episodes or finales. Listen but don't vote: Voting is no longer necessary so let's just enjoy everyones final episodes. Join us for a dual screening, both Frequency 101 and Channel 101, doors at 6:30 PM Pacific time this Saturday November 4th live at PDA! Buy Tickets Here! Space is limited. Also as always we'll be live on Twitch probably earlier since this episode is longer than normal. @ www.twitch.tv/channel101official Submit your own five minute or less pilot for the Channel101 competition to Submissions@Channel101.com Frequency 101 will no longer be accepting submissions. Please welcome writer, director, animator, actor and all-around superb human being, Julia Vickerman! You may've seen her show Twelve Forever on the Netflix, if you haven't yet you must! You'll see her gorgeous pink hair in Channel 101 classics such as THE PUNCH, SANTIAGO, INTIMATE INDISCRETIONS, OH, SHIT! and COURIER PROGRAM. Her now gorgeous green hair is currently on the episode promo image, and in life!! She and our host can be heard talking about creativity and professional work as in every episode. While we love EVERY chat and guest, there's a lot more bareness than usual, making this what Todd quite proudly calls one of the most "anti-podcast & anti-interview' episodes he's ever done! Every day, salespeople, marketers and other business professionals Google “How to start a channel.” Even channel veterans seek answers to key questions. Finally, someone has you covered. In this video, Impartner channel evangelist T.C. Doyle and Tenego Academy founder and CEO Donagh Kiernan discuss channel basics for a newly launched series, “Channel 101.” You have questions; we have answers.
Creator, writer, actor, phone-sexxer.. Abed Gheith (Los Angeles) is a lifelong story-teller (“Streetside” 1990s, Channel 101, Frequency 101) whose work in, and knack for story-telling, sense of humour, fusion of influences and more, I find undeniable. Just look at “Groove Fighters”, “Phone Sexxers”, “The Pop” and “Toon Wolf”… look at the Steve Perry character in “Yacht Rock”.. what about unforgettable pilots like “It’s Twissleton” and “The Muhammads”!? deny that!? I think NOT. As a not so un-remarkable footnote of course, his likeness and pop-culture library of a mind were loosely the inspiration for the NBC show ‘Community’s Abed character (see GVP ep. 6 for that story). Much like myself as a kid, Abed RPGd with friends, cassette-recorded audio entertainment and was entranced by the MAGIC of Disney and Star Trek mid-90s and before… this very specific set of things all together isn’t something I share in common with A LOT of people. Feel free to join us on that ride, I really enjoyed talking about it. Today, Abed and his longtime friend Sevan Najarian hold the current title for longest running show on Frequency 101 (Channel 101’s audio-only shindig) “Enter the Dark”,and through every type of terrain it seems, Abed follows his instinct to create worlds and tell stories! It would seem that comes with some interesting life stories! Listen and find out! Brad Gage, LA Actor, Writer and much more; starting in the summer of 2019 has applied his razor-sharp skills, creative intellect and talent, in a profoundly philanthropic/positive way. Real Feels is the name of a podcast and YouTube channel (also count Instagram) starting with poetry, and continuing into safe-space conversations where Brad invites people to truly see and share who they are.. I’ve not surprisingly seen people healing on it, he’s quite a warm person! Congruently with those conversations and maybe with a focus-shift for now solely to it, Brad Gage offers a series of video essays with an entertaining look/free educational take on ‘what is masculinity?’, ‘what is toxic masculinity’, ‘why haven’t we seen Mister Rogers for the masculine icon he is?’. Ultimately, this serves in asking men to identify their role in creating a future (hell, why not now?) that women don’t have to feel like their lives, bodies and minds are always in harm’s way. Since I’m in full agreement on this, it was nice to just listen and appreciate Brad’s soothing voice and well-articulated thoughts, and better understand why he’s so passionate about all of it. He really is a beautiful person, was all too kind to me I’ll say, so thanks, Brad (really feely). I’ll mention at the end here that ‘Brad Gage’ the profile on Channel101, is still home to the content that introduced me to’m, and will continually bring me joy, so feel free to peruse. : ) BRAD GAGE WEBSITE: http://www.bradgage.com/ FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/BradGagePage/ IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm3334706/ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/beauradley/ TWITTER: https://twitter.com/bradgage YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/user/bradgagecomedy REAL FEELS FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/realfeelsproject INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/realfeelsproject/ TWITTER: https://twitter.com/realfeelsproj YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAgXmmMVVszIkKl4ViomvKg?fbclid=IwAR2Zu24kinQUcdbVscaRFKlckd28ZtWrjMiXU1hnid0bv6AT1YErfmj9DX0 SONGS/FEATURED AUDIO: Real Feels video essay- “The Surprising Masculinity of Mister Rogers” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2mzxeViCko&t=86s Denise Chaila “Rí Rá” (from ‘Go Bravely’ released 2020) Buy the album on Bandcamp https://denisechaila.bandcamp.com/album/go-bravely Real Feels video essay- “Joe Rogan Doesn’t Understand Toxic Masculinity” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zx_2Lm9dB2Q CREDITS: Conversation recorded September 20th, 2020, at HQ in Gjoa Haven, Nunavut, Canada; via Zoom to Brad Gage in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A. Ep16 - Curt Neill Everyone’s favorite actor Curt Neill brings the heat and the drama in this truly epic episode, which is not only the longest and drunkest one yet but maybe also the best.
Brad Gage moves across the table from co-host chair to guest in this deeply introspective episode about why he’s leaving, where he’s going, depression, teenage alcoholism and more fun stuff. Plus, ayahuasca, a poetry reading and a visit from Tony T!
It’s a special twofer episode! Before co-host Brad Gage leaves the show for good, he opens the vault to release his & Nick’s final two unheard interviews with creators Tara McGorry and Dave Goetzl.
Abed returns to the podcast for a full-length interview this time! He’s been a Channel 101 staple since almost the very beginning and has plenty of unheard stories and insider knowledge to share.
We’re back from hiatus! Brad & Nick interview Rachelle about her time at Channel 101 and how she became a wildly successful television writer.
This week, we had a hell of time producing this episode. Technical issues aside, we discuss our first horror film of the month: Event Horizon, starring Lawrence Fishburne and Sam Neill. But before that, we ramble forever and ever, as we are wont to do. Our main segment focuses on the Netflix original film ARQ, a science fiction/home invasion thriller starring Robbie Amell and Rachel Taylor. Our opinions of it differ wildly. Brace yourselves, for there be spoilers ahead.
