In this episode of Hide and Seek, James delves deeper into the tangled narratives surrounding Shane Barton's disappearance by revisiting key interviews and analyzing conflicting recollections. James's investigation takes him to the Barton property, where Rachael Barton retraces her actions on the day Shane vanished. Yet, her timeline is riddled with inconsistencies — from phone usage to the supposed last sighting of Shane in the fifth wheel. James also interviews Shane's son, Danner Barton, whose stoic demeanor and strained relationship with his mother add new layers to the case. Danner's perspective on the events of March 9th raises questions about family dynamics, while his insight into the family's access to Wi-Fi adds another piece to the puzzle. Additionally, conversations with Shane's daughter, Hayden Barton, reveal a shift from openness to silence, leaving more questions than answers. Further complicating the narrative are insights from Howard Wheeler and John Bean, who expose past financial disputes and character tensions that may be key to understanding Shane's disappearance. As James pieces together these interviews, the contradictions and evasions make it increasingly difficult to discern the truth. Is the family's fractured story concealing a deeper reality, or are these inconsistencies just noise in an already complex case? --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/james-baysinger/support

https://www.michelledanner.comwww.allinfilms.com Instagram michelledannerla There aren't many people who can point to a career full of success as a performer, teacher, storyteller, entrepreneur, and expert. But Michelle Danner can. The legendary acting teacher and founder of the Creative Center for the Arts and the Los Angeles Acting Conservatory, Danner is also now well-established as a successful film director. Her last film,“Miranda's Victim,” stars Abigail Breslin, Luke Wilson, Ryan Phillippe, Emily VanCamp, Mireille Enos, Enrique Murciano, Brent Sexton, Josh Bowman, Sebastian Quinn, Taryn Manning, Nolan Gould, Dan Lauria, Kyle MacLachlan, Andy Garcia and Donald Sutherland. The film tells the true story of Trish Weir (Breslin) who was kidnapped and brutally raped by Ernesto Miranda. The subsequent trials went all the way to the Supreme Court and led to creation of the Miranda Rights. Up next for Danner is the comedy romance film “The Italians,” which stars Matthew Daddario (Shadowhunters), Rob Estes (Silk Stalkings), Perrey Reeves (Entourage), David DeLuise (Wizards of Waverly Place), Olivia Luccardi (It Follows), Lainie Kazan (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), and Abigail Breslin (Zombieland, Little Miss Sunshine). The film is currently playing at festivals around the country. A dedicated mom of two (one is an aspiring filmmaker), Danner still has her “day job” – overseeing the faculty of the Los Angeles Acting Conservatory, and conducting her weekly acting class. Michelle has worked privately with Christian Slater, Salma Hayek, Gerard Butler, Seth MacFarlane, Penelope Cruz, Chris Rock, Gabrielle Union, Zooey Deschanel, Henry Cavill, Isla Fisher and James Franco. A longtime student of legendary acting teachers like Stella Adler and Uta Hagen, Danner's eclectic approach (which she calls “The Golden Box”) allows actors the freedom to employ a wide variety of techniques. Raised in a show business family and with a deep appreciation for all of the performing arts, Danner also continues to run the boutique “Cinema at the Edge” film festival and is currently preparing to direct a new one-person play, Bonnie Culver's “Norris,” starring Anne Archer, based on the memoirs of the widow of writer Norman Mailer. Simply put, there's almost no one in the business who knows as much about acting and success as Michelle Danner – and her continued success in multiple creative fields makes her one of the most successful women working in the industry today. Our "voices of F1" series is back. This time, we have former Formula 1 driver and RTL's F1 expert Christian Danner on the Inside Line F1 Podcast. Why has Formula 1 declined in Germany? In fact, how popular was it in Germany during Michael Schumacher's reign? Danner shares interesting insights on Schumacher's legacy, why he was loved by Germany and how different Sebastian Vettel is remembered as a Formula 1 legend today. Also, is Nico Rosberg celebrated as a German Formula 1 champion? We also touch upon Mick Schumacher's surprisingly short Formula 1 career, the possibility of a comeback and why Nico Hulkenberg is a perfect fit for Audi. Danner also tells us how the Sainz family knows enough about Audi for them to wait for a seat elsewhere - naming, Red Bull Racing and Mercedes. For those who love Motorsport history, Danner goes back in time to talk of his moments with Ayrton Senna, why Formula 1 is the "only true racing car", how driver contracts were in the 80s and much more. This is one super hour (and little more) with Christian Danner packed with fantastic stories and experiences. Tune in! In his early opposition to the Iraq war and other overseas misadventures in Bosnia, Haiti and El Salvador, Mark Danner is one of the most respected observers of American foreign policy. So it was a real honor to sit down with him and talk about his life both as an American and as a critic of America's increasingly frayed relations with the rest of the world. Given his peripatetic life as a correspondent of overseas conflict, there's a Homeric quality to Mark Danner, both as a man and as a writer. And so it wasn't surprising that we began our conversation with Danner's memories of how the Illiad inspired his life of travel and adventure.Mark Danner is a writer, journalist and educator who has written on war and politics for more than three decades. He has covered conflicts in Central America, Haiti, the Balkans, Iraq and the greater Middle East, and has written extensively about the development of American foreign policy during the Cold War and the post-Cold War era, focussing on human rights and democracy. He has covered every American presidential election from the 2000 vote recount in Florida to Trump's “Capitol Coup” in 2021. His books include Spiral: Trapped in the Forever War (2016), Torture and the Forever War (2014), Stripping Bare the Body: Politics Violence War (2009), The Secret Way to War: The Downing Street Memo and the Iraq War's Buried History (2006), Torture and Truth: America, Abu Ghraib and the War on Terror (2004), The Road to Illegitimacy: One Reporter's Travel's Through the 2000 Florida Vote Recount (2004) and The Massacre at El Mozote: A Parable of the Cold War (1994). Danner was a longtime staff writer for The New Yorker and is a regular contributor to The New York Review of Books. Danner holds the Class of 1961 Distinguished Chair in Undergraduate Education at the University of California at Berkeley, and the James Clarke Chace Professor of Foreign Affairs and Humanities at Bard College. Lately there's been a surge of attacks on diversity - affirmative action was overturned by the Supreme Court, Harvard president Claudine Gay was forced out of her seat with people calling her “a diversity hire,” and anti-DEI bills are popping up all over the country. So this week, as we start Black History Month, we're talking about attacks on diversity programs. We got the chance to chat with Sophia Danner-Okotie, a small business owner in Atlanta, to talk about how difficult it is to get business loans as a Black woman. And now one of the firms that invested in her, The Fearless Fund, is under legal attack. Women of color already receive only 1% of venture capital funding, and extremists like Edward Blum are trying to take that tiny percentage away. Finally, Jasmine, Rachel, and Amanda raise a glass to Sojourner Truth and to women uplifting each other in this episode's “Toast to Joy.”We invite you to join us next Tuesday for a virtual Ask Me Anything event where we'll talk about the suburbs with a panel of Black moms. We'll dig into attacks on DEI and affirmative action, the glass cliff, and the 2024 elections. You can learn more and RSVP here. And don't forget to sign up for our Substack newsletter!
