Are we truly living out the identity of the church, or are we mixing the faith with the world's ideologies? In this powerful message, we confront the dangerous blending of beliefs, known as syncretism, that has led to a crisis in the church today. Just as the Apostle Paul stood firm in Ephesus against idol worship and cultural pressure, we too must rise up and reclaim our identity. We are the church!

Dear Church | Identity of Ministers by Providence Community Church
This morning we continued in our current series, Christian Living In The Current of Culture, an exposition of 1 Corinthians. This sermon titled “Church Unity Through Church Identity” is from from 1 Corinthians 3:10-23 and was preached by a frequent guest preacher at Trinity Church, Pastor Cody Cannon who is the Lead Pastor of Life Pointe Church in Woodland, CA.In this text the apostle Paul reminds the local church who they are and encourages them that they will find unity when they realize their identity in Christ. This unity is worth fighting for because it honors God and glorifies Jesus and it is God's will for the church.
Embark on an engaging journey with Matthew Schultz as we tackle the dynamic nature of church life, from the fresh energy of church planting to the revitalization of long-established congregations. Listen closely as we unlock the secrets to creating vibrant faith communities that balance innovation with the timeless message of Jesus' love. We'll reveal how churches are redefining worship spaces to resonate with contemporary audiences, ensuring that the essence of the gospel remains at the forefront of these transformative experiences.Join us for an enlightening conversation that delves into the heartbeat of the church's mission, seen through the lens of Lutheran theology. We dissect the intricate dance between justification and sanctification, considering Martin Luther's vision for a church that doesn't hide from the world but rather reaches out with the good news. Matthew and I probe into the notion of 'remnant theology' and venture into a compelling debate on how true confession is inherently missional. The episode doesn't just stop at theory; it also paints a picture of what growth looks like for churches both flourishing and facing adversity. We explore practices like asset-based community development and how storytelling can empower congregations to become beacons of innovation and learning—transforming them into 'little seminaries'. Whether you're a church leader or simply intrigued by the potential of faith communities, this episode offers a unique perspective on the church's identity and mission.Sirva SoundbitesExplores the latest trends and topics on global talent mobility and the future of work.Listen on: Apple Podcasts Spotify All Business. As we grow together in grace this year, we are committed to being the body of Christ. Good news! Our Lord Jesus is the head of the body, the church. Great news! He includes us in his body. Like the church at Antioch, the Lord has placed his hand on this church. Let's grow. How? In grace. This message is based on Acts 11:19-26.Quotes:Duane Brooks: We are being formed – either by the world, or by the living Word who is Christ.James Boice: This is the first example in human history of people in a different part of the world taking up an offering to help people in another part of the world. Why would Gentiles in Antioch give to people in Judea? They had not one cultural thing in common – except Jesus. John Ortberg: Am I growing more loving toward God and toward people?William Wilberforce: Instead we should allow the name of Jesus to be engraved deeply on the heart, written there by the finger of God himself in everlasting characters. It is our sure and undoubted title to present peace and future glory.C. S. Lewis: In the same way the Church exists for nothing else but to draw men into Christ, to make them little Christs. If they are not doing that, all the cathedrals, clergy, missions, sermons, even the Bible itself, are simply a waste of time. God became Man for no other purpose.Philip Yancey: When I walk into a new church, the more its members resemble each other—and resemble me—the more uncomfortable I feel.Emil Bruner: The church exists by mission as a fire exists by burning.Duane Brooks: We have it written on our wall . . . but unless it is written on our lives it will not help us.Bonhoeffer: Your life as a Christian should make non-believers question their disbelief in God. Horace Greeley received a letter from a woman seeking his advice concerning her church. She wrote: “Our church is in dire financial straits. We have tried everything to keep it going: a strawberry festival, an oyster supper, a donkey party, a turkey dinner, and finally a box social. Will you please tell us, Mr. Greely, how to keep a struggling church from disbanding?” Greeley answered her in a message of two words: “Try Christianity.”Russ Blowers: I'm with a global enterprise. We have branches in every country in the world. We have our representatives in nearly every parliament and board room on earth. We're into motivation and behavior alteration. “We run hospitals, feeding stations, crisis pregnancy centers, universities, publishing houses, and nursing homes. We care for our clients from birth to death. We are into life insurance and fire insurance. We perform spiritual heart transplants. Our original Organizer owns all the real estate on earth plus an assortment of galaxies and constellations. He knows everything and lives everywhere. Our product is free for the asking. (There's not enough money to buy it.) Our CEO was born in a hick town, worked as a carpenter, didn't own a home, was misunderstood by his family, hated by enemies, walked on water, was condemned to death without a trial, and arose from the dead – I talk with him everyday. To discover more messages of hope go to tallowood.org/sermons/.Follow us on Instagram, X, and YouTube @tallowoodbc.Follow us on FaceBook @tallowoodbaptist

The Church Identity Revealed Part 2 by Bishop Joaquin G. Molina
The Church Identity Revealed by Bishop Joaquin G. Molina
What could an ancient piece of garment unlock about Jesus, the Holy Ghost, the Church, and several major figures in faith? In the Ancient Near East (not just Jewish cultures) there is a tradition of tassels that provide an identity to those who wear it. The elaborate tassel was an extension of the hem and could be used as an identification or as a signature of documents. It often was used as a form of ID for nobility and those who had money/status. The tassel is known in Judaism as the tzitzit. The tassel that God commanded Moses to have made that would remind the Hebrews of who they were and who God is, but it is also a foreshadowing of one of the most important New Testament doctrines. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jesusnamenews/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jesusnamenews/support
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God...
Every church is headed somewhere; the question is where? Typically our mission and vision reveal to us where we are going and how we are going to get there. However, if the DNA of your church cannot sustain or support the mission and vision, you are destined to struggle in getting where you are trying to go. On this episode, Casey and Reid discuss how to find and implement one of the most significant parts of leadership-CORE VALUES!
Ed kicks off a new teaching series for February 2022, 'Emotionally Healthy Church'.

We are the church. We must put into order what remains.
The scripture reading for the 5th Sunday of Easter is Acts 15:1-18. It is the story of the Council at Jerusalem.
How are we to define and understand the Church? Our study of the mission of God has led us to this: The Church is the people of God invited to participate in his continued mission in this world.

We live in a day where people are divided over anything and everything. Paul addresses the church divided over preference of speaking styles to call them to be unified as the field, building, and temple of God.

Who are you? Not your role or your job, but your identity. I had the pleasure of interviewing Mary McAllister author of I Am Who Christ Says I Am on September 17 about our identities in Christ, her testimony, and her book. The interview was hosted by the Christian Women's Book Club on 9/17/2020.. Mary Ann McAllister is a minister's wife, a mother of three, and a grandmother. She is a successful business owner. She is blessed to serve as a leader in her community and church, where she is appreciated as generous, creative, and smart. She is always looking to help others. She has grown to be a pure testimony of God's transformative power. From heroin addiction, homelessness, and the foster care system, she has been transformed into living a productive, blessed life. She has shown to many the potential of being elevated through Christ, coming from the very bottom of life to reach the mountain top. Her testimony to all is that though her road is not easy, by holding onto God's hand, He guides her every step. In today's episode, Nick Warnes has a dialogue with Matt Brough. Matt Brough is the director of CyclcialPCC, a denomination-wide Church planting initiative of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. He also serves part time as the minister of Prairie Presbyterian Church in Winnipeg, Manitoba, hosts a podcast called Spirituality for Ordinary People, and is an independent author and publisher. His books include Let God Be God: Give Control to the Only One Who Can Set You Free, Let God Be Present: Uncovering the Will, Courage, and Persistence to Truly Connect, and a fantasy-adventure series of novels for young readers (Book 1: Del Ryder and the Crystal Seed) . Here are some quotes from the interview: "We think of these institutional bodies as impersonal, but they are actually the church discerning God's presence" "What I was doing was forming a core team but I didn't know it." "I would spend a lot longer in planning, discernment, and prayer..." "I look back and I think, What was God up to? Because our identity as a congregation got a lot stronger than if we had built." "In church planting, it always feels like the next thing is really important. I would encourage people to take their time, to have a long view. Take your time in discernment and starting steps." The core of who we are is our identity. In the 4th episode of "Six Practices of the Church," Greg Thompson speaks to the importance of knowing who we are. When we lose sight of identity, we stray away from our God-given purpose. What does that identity entail? Who does God say we are? And how does our identity inform our culture?
"The Church: Identity", listen as Senior Pastor Pete Chiofalo continues his Crystal series with Colossians 2:18-20. Enjoy the talk!
We finish up our series on the names of the Church, by looking at what it means to be called a citizen of heaven. We see how we as Christians are citizens from another place, called to live according to God's kingdom, by the power of God's Holy Spirit. Most people when asked the question, " Who are you?" they refer to themselves according to their job title, educational background, or by their spiritual titles. However, the question still remains, "Who are you?". If you changed your hairstyle everyday, does that mean that you are not "You" anymore? If each day of the week you tried a new outfit that expressed how you felt for the day, would that be your identity? Most of us lack the ability to express who we truly are in the natural, and on the spiritual side, which is the most crucial, we lack identity. The body of believers are starting to look and act alike from one church to the next. There is an identity crisis going on in the body of Christ and until we understand that each member of the body plays an imperative role there will always be some level of turmoil and conformity. In terms of moving forward, if these persistent problems are not addressed the body will remain stagnated. GCC Martin Sermon (Chad Davis)
After being told that the kingdom wasn't being restored immediately, the disciples realized the world they had prepared for was not the world they lived in any longer. So they came together in prayer and study to understand what God was calling them to do in this new world. In like manner, the modern church has come through an era of cultural dominance that is no longer there. How can we adapt? Where are we going?
