In this episode of To The Edge and Beyond, Host Courtney Echerd talked with Ron Eccleston, Global Market Strategist for the Internet of Things (IoT) Group at Intel, and Cole Baker, Senior Global Alliance Manager at LogiTech, the world leader in products that connect people in naturally intuitive ways to the digital experiences they care about. They discussed the many challenges facing companies and their remote workforces during the pandemic, as well as how technology companies have stepped up to meet the demand for solutions that replicate in-person experiences. The global pandemic has forced companies to rethink how and where their employees work. One of the biggest challenges has been finding ways to ensure that meetings and collaborations can continue without in-person interactions. Thankfully, enterprise IT companies, such as Intel and LogiTech, have been able to anticipate and meet the technology requirements of remote workplaces. “There really aren't a lot of heavy lifts at this point,” said Eccleston. “You don't have to have a Ph.D. in IT or IT Support available. It's really the easy button at this point. It's plug-and-play. Anyone can do it, and it's affordable.”Looking to the future, neither Eccleston nor Baker feel workplaces will return to the way they were prior to the pandemic. “I don't believe we'll ever go back to everyone being in the office,” said Baker. “This hybrid work environment is here to stay. We need to have a flexible, work-from-anywhere mindset as we continue to adjust to this whole new world.” Learn more about solving work-from-home challenges by connecting with Ron Eccleston on LinkedIn or visit https://www.intel.com.Subscribe to this channel on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or Google Podcasts to hear more from the Intel Internet of Things Group.

Cole Baker-Bagwell has a mission to make the world a little more kind and to show that it is not only an extra cherry on top of a sundae at work but actually the foundation of what makes a company productive and effective. Cole is a Chief Experience Architect and host of the Kindness Think Tank podcast. She embraces her inner Kindness Nerd and joins Sam to talk about how we can be more thoughtful in our interactions, three practical ways we can be kinder today, and how we can still foster connection while still working from home. What You Will Discover This Week: Brands and companies that modify their culture to be more kind achieve bigger results. Kindness is still very much a work in progress in Corporate America. We have forgotten that outcomes are created by human beings. Honoring yourself and what you need is a form of kindness. Turn on that Zoom camera every now and then! Making eye contact and seeing each other in human form is very important, even if it's virtual for now. Cole took her experience in sales and strategy and used it as a cornerstone to show that no matter what you are doing in business, it's always about people and building authentic two-way relationships. We are all born to be compassionate, collaborative, and generous. We can be emotionally intelligent but not kind, and often it's just about making space for ourselves or for others to pause a moment and choose kindness. Kindness leads to trust, which brings more collaboration and more productivity. The three practical ways to be more kind that will also help you cultivate self-awareness. In today’s episode of the As Told by Nomads Podcast, join me and my guest, Cole Baker-Bagwell, as we talk about embracing the art of kindness. Cole is the founder of Cool Audrey and the host of the Kindness Think Tank Podcast, she dedicates herself to living with kindness and teaching people the importance of being kind. She shares in this episode the truths and important factors to consider about kindness. It is not always easy to be kind, that’s why it is a constant journey of awareness and learning from mistakes. The Power of KindnessIn this fast-paced world filled with responsibilities and disasters, many people have forgotten the importance of kindness. Others think that being kind means you’re weak and vulnerable. As a result, they close their hearts off to everyone around them. Furthermore, there’s nothing wrong with being vulnerable because you’re being who you really are, and kindness is strength. The power of kindness is endless, and the impact you could have on other people’s lives is incomparable. Not everyone has the courage to try and live with kindness because the journey is not easy. They have become used to living and thinking only of themselves. Whereas this is not always their fault, but you are also partly responsible for what you allow to influence and hurt you. Trust me kindness will bring more opportunities in your life rather than being unkind. With the guidance of kindness, you’ll learn to become your best self.Learning how to be KindAll human beings are inherently good and are wired to be compassionate. However, as we grow older, external factors begin to influence us to act otherwise. When we fail to become aware of these changes within ourselves, we lose sight of who we are. Although being kind seems easy, it can be difficult without guidance if you have no idea what it exactly is. Just like the skills we learn in school, kindness is a skill that needs to be learned and practiced. It needs a lot of awareness, commitment, and consistency. In order to treat people with kindness and compassion, you first have to have self-love. You can’t genuinely give what you don’t have and know. It starts with ourselves, and it’s important that you don’t miss any steps to really understand the value this can bring. Especially today, in this pandemic, we need kindness now more than ever.About Cole Baker-Bagwell:Cole is an unconventional blend of a business person, mindfulness practitioner, and yogi. She left her corporate career in 2019 to start building her own company. Today, Cole is the founder and Chief Kindness Advisor of Cool Audrey, a US based Consulting firm, teaching companies how to put kindness to work as a core business competency that runs through every fiber of the organization. Videographer, musician, and Dungeon Master, Cole Baker swings by the podcast to talk about what he's been up to since 2010, living a fairly corporate life, running around in a tiny town, being alacritously attention-seeking, grinding his teeth, being the perennial beneficiary of his only-child circumstances, watching Pirates of the Caribbean once a week, film class, statues, the haircut that inspired him to move to Pasadena, being accepted to UCLA, being an Argentinian artist-in-residence, living in a gross basement in Portland, becoming an Airbnb project manager, being in a band with Alexandra Wallace, not sharing his music, waiting for The Kris Special's second album, the effects of social media, the Cole Baker hate group on Facebook, proselytizing for Dungeons & Dragons, the Sun exploding, bubonic plague, science vs. religion, and eating a bee.
