Join siblings Luke and Emma, and maybe the occasional guest, as they undertake a quest together to take deep dives into every single Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM). Come along with us for one episode a month, plus some bonus episodes here and there, as we bear witness to the kind of chaos that…
The DCOMedy podcast is an absolute gem for anyone who loves Disney Channel Original Movies (DCOMs) and enjoys a good laugh. The hosts, Luke and Emma, have a fantastic dynamic that keeps listeners entertained throughout each episode. Their witty banter and hilarious commentary on the movies make this podcast a must-listen for fans of DCOMs. Each episode is filled with nostalgia and humor, making it a delightful trip down memory lane.
One of the best aspects of The DCOMedy podcast is the way Luke and Emma break down and analyze each movie. They do a fantastic job of pointing out the absurdity and flaws in these films while still showing appreciation for the nostalgia they evoke. Their hilarious observations and reactions to the plotlines, characters, and clichés make for an entertaining listening experience. Even if you've never seen the movie they're discussing, their storytelling and comedic delivery will keep you engaged from start to finish.
The only downside to this podcast is that it's released on a monthly basis. While this allows for more in-depth discussions of each movie, it can be frustrating to have to wait so long between episodes, especially if you binge-listen and get hooked on their humor. Additionally, some episodes can be hard to follow if you're not familiar with the TV shows that spawned DCOMs or if you haven't seen certain movies. However, this is a minor issue that doesn't detract much from the overall enjoyment of the podcast.
In conclusion, The DCOMedy podcast is a hilarious journey through the world of Disney Channel Original Movies. Luke and Emma's chemistry as hosts makes each episode enjoyable and laugh-out-loud funny. Whether you're a fan of DCOMs or simply enjoy listening to people talk about movies, this podcast is sure to entertain. The only downside is its monthly release schedule, but it's well worth the wait for their hilarious takes on these beloved childhood films.
I know, I know, it's been quite a while fam. But….we are so freaking back! We might be a little rusty, and not super clear about how any of this stuff usually works, but luckily we aren't taking the stage alone. That's right, it's extremely fortuitous for us that everyone's favorite girl group happen to be staging their grand comeback as well. You guessed it, The Cheetah Girls are here and we are going to SPAIN! Come along as we strut down the streets of Barcelona, meet the locals, and cause a riot with the most chaotic and frenetic concert ever performed. Oh, and rhyme a lot of Spanish words with “Cheetah”. Luke battles through illness and missed out on some crazy extras. Emma sings most of the soundtrack and disrespects a mall. Talking Points: We're Back! Sorry about the schedule slippage, but we've got just the home remedy. It's the perfect mixture of a season finale and a the return of a longtime guest! That's right, Dyllan has returned to help us wrap up our season by chatting all about Buffalo Dreams. A film none of us really wanted to touch, but here we are. So why don't you journey along with us to weigh-in on the vicious land feud between some white mountain bikers and the Native Americans whose land these “dirtheads” continually trespass on. Luckily, I think that if history any indication, this thing will work out with no issues on either side. Luke shares the younger sibling experience and pays for a character's actions. Emma can't stand Scout's muteness and shares her weight loss secrets. Dyllan meets his old nemesis once again. Talking Points: Zigging/Zagging, What Is This Even About?, The Titular Buffalo Dream, As Always: We Know Nothing, Navajo Sign Language, Executive Mandated Mountain Biking, The Horned Up Parents, You Never Leave The Army, Adrienne Bailon Jumpscare, Get Your Son A Nicer Bike!, Why Does Josh Need a Bike So Bad?, Insane Scene 1 of 3, Did They Really Try Every Song?, Buffalo Safety Tips, Child Labor, DCOM Politics, The Secret Buffalo Poacher, Dropping Plots Like Hot Pockets, As Racist As Disney Channel Can Get Away With, Kyle And The Dirt Bike Boys, The Most Sensual Bath A Child Has Ever Taken, This Child Is Waaay To Shirtless, The Most Obscure Joke Ever, A Pretty Dope Potluck, Do These Characters Even Know Each Other?, Moon's Understatement Of The Century, Josh Keeps Ruining His Parents' Vibe, Making Mountain Biking Boring, Teenage Environmental Terrorism, DCOM Drinking And Driving, Emergency Graffiti Supplies, Chucking These Kids In The Woods, Disney Channel Says: Give Children Knives, Schrodinger's Chekov's Cave, Being Mad At Surviving, Definitely Not Visions, The Nature Retreat Changes Nothing, Braceface Henchman's Big Day, Navajo Steroids, Death Mountain, THE ATTEMPTED MURDER, Josh's Coma, The Iconic Basketball Coaching Lesbian Doctor, Pawn Shop Mirages, Are Buffalo Or Humans The Villain Here?, Setting Adrienne Free Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the film covered here wouldn't exist. #SAGAFTRAstrike #SAGAFTRAstrong Support the Entertainment Community Fund for struggling strikers here: https://entertainmentcommunity.org/ or help them out with some refreshments on the picket lines by donating here: https://actionnetwork.org/fundraising/the-snacklist-support-striking-workers
Ready yourselves listeners. For as long as anyone can remember, a war has been raging between the settlements of East and West Appleton. Now, the final chapter in this war is fast approaching. The battlefield? A bowling alley. It's soldiers? A bunch of absolute lunatics who are obsessed with the 1950s. Normally I'd say it is cooler than it sounds on paper, but not so much with this one. We were really excited to dig into Alley Cat's Strike! since so many seem to remember it quite fondly, but it ended up being a bit of a gutterball in our opinion…. Emma brings back her signature segment and relives her past. Lucas feels like he's on crazy pills and finds his ideal afterlife. Talking Points: A Classic…Stinker?, The Deadly Apple Drinking Game, Our Strange Heroes, Team Todd All Day, East And West: The Ultimate Rivalry, FREEZE FRAMES: THE ULTIMATE VILLAIN, A Wild Kaley Cuoco Appears (With Her Original Nose), Unnecessary Friends, Thrift King Alex, The Worst Diner I've Ever Seen, Big Wisconsin Energy, The Most Ridiculous Competition, No Beef Necessary, Everybody Loves Sweet Lou, Terrible ADR, Debbie Desperado, Whipsaw McGraw, The Ultimate Prank, Why Does Everyone Doubt The Bowling Team?, The Real Alley Cat Strike, Crazy Bowling Animations, The Jazz Pattern, Upping The Ante, Behind The Scenes Trivia, An Absolutely Sick Non-Alcoholic Teen Party, Bowling Computer Simulations, Guppy Troup, Poor Bubba, The Ivan Drago School Of Bowling, No Way That School Is Getting Finished In Time, Terrible Fake Bowling, A Confusing Ploy, Sucked In By The Swing, What Exactly Is “Real” Bowling?, Singing For Your Supper, Cool Cats/Hot Dogs, Doing Local Radio Ads, Betrayal With No Fallout, The Shades Stay On, Disappointing T-shirts, Unnecessary Tarps, Anti-Climactic Conflict Resolution, “Tragic” Backstories, Bowling on Crutches, The Worst Entrance Ever, Pulling One's Ball, The Absolutely Baffling Final Competition, Unleashing The Chaos Gremlin
Whoops! Sorry we were a little late on this one, hope it didn't turn your world upside-down or anything. Then again, I kind of hope we did because this episode is about everything upside-down! That's right we are going back to Modern Movie May (in June?) for Upside-Down Magic. So join us as we enter a magical world…I think? Like, it's not super clear how magical the world actually is or how much people know about it. Also the “magic” isn't so much like spells and is more like superpowers? I understand that doesn't sound THAT enticing, but it's mostly more than the sum of its parts. Lucas nails his kitten impression and stans his man Skriff. Emma can't stand Reina and accuses a character of Nazism. Talking Points: A True Classic, Where YA Tropes Go To Die, The Immediately Dead Mom, How Does Magic Work In This World?, Sapphic Cinematography, Magic Is Just Superpowers, SPARKLE FIRBALL, Everything Is Kittens, Coming Home For Thanksgiving, The Disappointing Bad Boy, Get In The Portal Babies, Knightslinger Is Serving, The Insanity Of The Magic School, “The Sage Way”, The Messenger Bag Debate, Calm Down Nory, The Very Out Of Place Fart Joke, How Does Shadow Magic Work?, Getting Your Dreams Crushed, Professor Argon And Her Popcorn Obsession, The Very Cool But Impractical Set, Confusing Uniforms, Why Would They Have Brooms?, Nory's Iffy Drawings, This School Is Canonically Incompetent, Selling Your Soul…On Accident?, It's The Hope That Kills You, Big Yoga Dad Energy, Playing With The Cards You Are Dealt, Immediately Revealing Your Evil Plan, A Very Marvel Ending, Children Are In Danger! Do Something!, A Lackluster Wrap-up
Content Warning: Due to topics within the film it is discussing, this episode contains topics relating to eating disorders and bullying people with disabilities. Listener discretion advised. Hey there! Thought we forgot about you, huh? Don't worry, we may have been delayed for quite a while, but we are finally ready to go to the mat with you all! Although by “being ready” I actually mean we are woefully unequipped to cover most of this movie's subject matter. Luckily for you all, that has literally never stopped us before. So come on and listen in to us try and do the best we can…and still probably failing pretty hard! Emma refuses to acknowledge “Fly” and finds her new political platform. Luke definitely has a film degree and doesn't get the weight classes. Talking Points: Wrestling Does Not Cure Blindness, Our Family Shame, WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING, New York City Baybee…Actually We're Goin' to Utah, We Start A New Podcast, Why Does No One Know About Blind People?, His Mom Should Have Gone In With Him, Wayne Brady Destroys A Child, A Man Trying His Best, Whose Wayne Brady Is It Anyway?, Angry Cane Acting, John Is No Bueno At Español, A Convenient Yet Harrowing Fire Drill, The Blind Jokes Aged Horribly (But Were Also Never Good), The Weird Airport/Tea Room Scene, The New Alt-Right Movement: Wrestling Is Woke Now (And Also Blind Kids Should Go Back To New York), We Are So Great At Recapping Wrestling, The General Prohibition Sign, Wrestle Dancing?, Mean Girls Style Parents, The All-Access Press Pass For High School Sports, Gross Wrestling Faces, The Least Disney Channel Kiss Ever, The Third Act Drop Off, The Ultimate Sign of Popularity: A Jeep Full of Dudes, The Dark Eating Disorder Plot, Sexual Silly Glasses, Balling The Coach's Daughter, None Of Our Family Can Listen To This, A Main Character Commits A Crime, The Weird Final Shot
Okay all you goody-goods and vile villains, it's time to return to Auradon once more! That's right, we are headed back to everyone's teen-centric fairy tale realm for the middle chapter of one of Disney Channel's hottest franchises in recent memory: Descendants 2! The villain kids are back, and we even get some new ones! So listen in as they find themselves facing new threats of great expectations, the big dance, and…pirates? I know that sounds out of place, but trust us it's actually kinda cool. Emma gets Vespa envy and wants more swordfights. Luke is ready to die for Mevie and refuses to try rhyming. Talking Points: Everybody Loves Descendants, The Swinging Pendulum of Effort, Hi Dove!, The Incredible Yet Pointless Opening, We Miss You Cameron, Yet Another Wheelchair Kid, Weird Worldbuilding, The Real Villain Is Expectations, Chad's Back, Why Are The 7 Dwarves Getting So Laid, More Doug (Boo!), Less Doug (Yay!), Ben Is Better, Fencing Parkour, Don't Mess With Lonnie, Don't Teach The Youth About The Friendzone, Mal Deals Carlos Some “Truth”, THE TALKING DOG NONSENSE, Poor Useless Gil, Ocean Racism, Smee Can Get It, Magic Mike Mushrooms, Mal Is Bad At Things, The Never-Mentioned Secret Apartment, Mal's Boyfriend And Girlfriend Team-up, Little Sister Dizzy, The Worst Business Strategy Imaginable, The Gum Incident, A Classic Evil Arm Wrestle, The Plan Comes Together Immediately, The Dual Climaxes, Belle And Beast Are Tyrants, The Gayest Thing Disney Channel Has Ever Made, Why Make Them Rap Battle???, The Dog Payoff, Two Tickets To The Gun Show, Friend Group Girl Talk, The World's Shortest Practice, Doug Does Nothing Here, Mal's Dress Sucks, Random Lumiere Cameo, No Subtlety On Disney Channel, Things Would Have Gone Better If The Octopus Was Bigger, Ben Goes Beast Mode…Then Martha Mode, Mal's Dress Rules Now, Everyone Stops The Teens From Kissing, Water Dancing!
Well, I hope the wait for this one didn't fill you all with anticipation or anything, because we've got quite a “unique” DCOM for you this month. Not only because of its whole vignette thing, but there's just something in its very DNA that just feels…off? It's kind of hard to put into words, so you will just need to listen along to try and understand exactly how it makes you feel. Although, I will give you a hint: the title of this episode is both a reference to the film itself and representative of what it is like to actually watch it. Luke respects canine actors and gets to bring back a catchphrase. Emma faces her mortal enemy and just wants to get through this. Talking Points: A Bad Word, A.I. Was Developed For DCOMs, Shaking It Up, Using the Title Word Wrong, Out Of Order Stories, Blatant Continuity Errors, The Anonymous High School, The CGIpad, Web-A-Zine?, Brought To You By Wonka, The Dog Is Sentient, The Confusing “Friend” Situation, Braces Representation, Everyone Is Rushing this Project, Picking A Fight With A Dog, A Shaggy Dog Situation, Making Life Is Ruff Look Good, Tony Gawk, Disney Channel Can't Joke About Male Scarves, Totally Crackin!, Do You Know Those Girls?, Murray Got The Hops, Julianne's Triple Grift, It All Falls Apart At Once, Shading Up, Eat Your Heart Out Joaquin Phoenix, WHAT IS UP WITH WALKER?, Zendaya Jackson: VP, Jahnn-Franque, GPS Sabotage, The Most Niche News From Lucy Delgoosy, Saving The Worst Vignette For Last, What Are These Rich People?, The Worst Twin Realization Scene Ever, The Rich Girl's Life Is Obviously The Best, Lahnce Is Here Now I Guess, The Frenemy Pissing Contest, Children Booked A Taco Truck, The Weird Arranged Marriage Between Rich Children, They Don't Know How To End This Movie…So Let's Have A Dance Party!
My dear audience, it's finally time (after a small delay) to face your destiny and hear all about the greatest warrior of a generation…the one and only: Wendy Wu! It's a movie that many remember fondly, including one of the hosts, but there is a lot going on here. Frankly the whole thing has left us a little shook, but take a listen and find out for yourself everything this movie has to offer. Oh, and don't ask about why this episode has such a lame title. All questions of that nature can be directed to Emma. Luke gets to flex his power ranger knowledge and feels a little embarrassed. Emma gives some culinary insight and feels cheated out of the big dance. Talking Points: Poor Titling, Deep Power Rangers Ties, Good Intentions That Have Aged Poorly, Vibeless Best Friends, Bored Brenda, The Upsettingly Blonde Boyfriend, Wendy's Significant Chunk, The Incredibly Intense Elections for Homecoming, The Subtle Racism, Monk Superpowers, The Via Motorcycle, FAMINE! Y'all ready for this? We've got one more episode for you before we slip into the New Year and it's all about two things: Judaism and Basketball. That's right, Full Court Miracle brings together that classic dynamic duo once again. Come along with us, and our new guest Louie, to the City of Brotherly Love as we witness a miracle take place before our very eyes. Not so much all the oil lasting long and lighting stuff, but more so that one man is able to make 5 teenagers championship basketball players in approximately one month's time. Oh, and they think he's a ghost. It's a whole thing. Emma acknowledges your tweets and shows off her training. Lucas creates a drinking game for once and feels very proud of himself. Louie schools our hosts in basketball as well as “yes and-ing” Talking Points: Breaking The Guest Dry Spell, Our Bad!, A Bit Of A Hanukkah Hodgepodge, What's The Point Of Julie?, Temperature Concerns, A Surprising Lack Of Basketball, Unfortunate Fat Kid Cliches, Cool Rabbis, Is Schlots Good?, Bigger Stakes For The Basketball, Great (And Alive) Parents, The Glass Ceiling Of Negligence, A Small Space Jam Tangent, Meeting Strangers In Parks, Money Makes The World Go ‘Round, Ghost Hunting, Espresso Fundraising, Not Everyone Should Be A Doctor, Those Silly Womenfolk Will Never Understand Basketball, The Team Is Better Now?, Dean Redacted, The Tetanus-Filled Toolshed, FULL COURT PRESS, A Brief BMX Interlude, Living In A Van Down By The River, That One Extra Seven, A Failing Grad of C-, Philadelphia's Worst Realtor, Gotta Have Some Mud In There, No Child Left Behind, The Dogs Start Barking, Basketball Studying, The Team Can Just Win Now, Dramatic Doctor's Office Confrontation, Being Wrong For The Right Reasons, The Out Of Nowhere Dancing, Missed Yarmulke Opportunity, They're Just Doing A Hanukkah, Antisemitic Energy, God Fixes An Internal Combustion Engine, Unnecessary Clock Stoppage, Lamont Returns To Do Nothing, The World's Longest Timeout, The Visual Effects Ruin The Ending
Ahoy! We may have been a little delayed in our travels, but your intrepid hosts are finally headed aboard the S.S. Tipton for their next cinematic adventure. That's right, it's time for everyone's favorite troublesome twins to take center stage in The Suite Life Movie. Oh, what hijinks ensue with these two rocking the boa…huh? Oh, again?! Fine. Once again, very little of this film actually takes place in the show's usual setting and instead finds the Martin brothers…wait, what? No, that can't be what happens. Like, that's pretty out there even for most of these movies based on Disney Channel shows. Just listen for yourselves audience, I don't think anything I write will do it justice. Lucas is let down by his heroes and remembers his love for London. Emma gets more evidence for her theory and continues her dolphin propaganda. Talking Points: Being Absolutely Broken, Acting On Autopilot, The Life Raft of Good Jokes, The Lone Gone Luggage Cart Days, Here For Debby Ryan, Zack's Charlie Sheen-ness, The High Schooler Aged Sprouse Ship Has Sailed, The Problem With Woody, At Work Since Birth, Scholarship Confusion, The Stupid Car Motivation, Everyone Jumped Off This Ship, The Cardinal Sin of Wasting Moseby/London, Eternal Spotshine of the Sunless Mind, MORE DOLPHIN TELEPATHY???, The Urkelization of Suite Life, Woah Nellie, The Terrible CGI Submarine Battle, Side Character Purgatory Dock, I'm Worried About The Gemini Project Darling, Violating The Rules of Science, The Least Bechdel Approved DCOM?, Crab POV, The Stupidest Fight Ever Put to Screen, A Blatant Disney Channel Sex Joke, The Worst Fake Crying, The “Sea” Plot, This Movie Is Scooby-Doo Now, Too Old For Air Ducts, The Dolphins Apparently Know Everything, The Barely Elevated Yet Zombie-Proof Zipline, Force Fields Are Real?!, Identical Twin Height Differences, The Most Infuriating Flashbacks, Fruit-Based Villain Redemption, The Twins Are Alright, Our First Ad Ever
Sorry we couldn't get this to you in time for Halloween, my internet connection fell into a bit of a vampire trance it would seem. Anyway, I hope you'll still allow us to belatedly celebrate Disney Channel's favorite time of year, when they can flex their monopoly on spooky movie vibes. Only problem is…they have too many! We needed help deciding what to watch and enlisted you all to help via twitter poll. So now, as voted by you, we are joining the Hansen family as they have a night on the town…for better or worse. See, everyone's dealing with one simple fact: Mom's Got A Date With A Vampire! Emma can't get over a line delivery and delivers some breaking news. Luke finally gets to use a funny voice and flexes his limited vampire knowledge. Talking Points: The Killer Adult Cast, Kirkland Culkin, Monster Kid, The Mysterious Hot Peter, DCOM Dracula, THE SILVER DEBATE, Drugs: A Real Life Vampire's Trance, Confusing Age Castings, A Terrible Offscreen Father, The Duffy Drug Effect, Secret Vampires, A Little Extra Budget, Selling Women To Internet Strangers, The Bailey School Kids vs. The Boxcar Children, Pancake Manipulation, Kids Hitting on Men in a Supermarket, Unplaceable Vampire Accents, Taylor “MMMBop” Hanson, Does Vampire Hunter = Magician?, Vampires Are Automatically Rich (But Still Not Real), The Spoon Test, Vampire Buddy-Cop Movie, Make-Out Point, Vampires Hate Rockabilly, Ricki and the Flash, Stick It In Your Craw, Boomer: The Worst Man Alive, Random Emotional Moments, We Do Not Negotiate With Vampires In America, There's Always Time For A Racial Stereotype, The Terrible Phone Metaphor, What Time Is It?, Vampire Boundaries, What Happens In Budapest, No One Respects Vampire Powers, Vampires…Still Kinda Hot Tho
Giddyup y'all! We've got another horse-based film for you this month, as we take a look at Ready to Run. In many ways, it feels like a pretty standard story about a child coming of age and taking on the world of sports the same way their father did before he died. Except…sigh…there is a particular thing that happens in this movie that ruins the whole thing and…why am I trying to keep things vague? The horses freaking talk gang! No one will care if I spoil that, right? It's kind of important to our discussion so…head's up. Emma loves Seabiscuit and is telling you to Don't Worry Dohring. Lucas wants more stakes/investment and just now gets the Jeremy Renner app. Talking Points: Disney+ Acquisition, Subverting Expectations…But Badly, Sinbad Must Have Had A Terrible Agent, Horse Names, Gun Censorship, Researching the Patriarchal Jockey Community, The Cartoonishly Evil Villain, Everything Is Around the Racetrack, Toothpick Gambling, A Horse Loose At Carl's Jr, Low Effort Talking Animals, Stud Farms, Pointless Moody's Sweet Tricks, The Worst Financial Decision of All Time, Spooking A Horse Into Greatness, Obvious Flirting, The Rhythm of the Horse, The Terrible Soundtrack, Casually Dropping A Deeply Sad Story, How Does a Horse Wear Headphones?, The Viral Appeal of A Headphone-Wearing Horse, A Man Intimidating a Horse, Everyone's Favorite Segment, The Worst Kept Secret, A Psychic Link With a Horse, The Worst Rescue Attempt Ever, A Pointless Amount of Money, A Solid Heart-to-Heart, Road Trip!, The French/British Announcer, Gamer Girl Headphones, The “Twist”: Horse Spectators, WHO IS CRUMPY, Inconsistent Horse Colors, The Actual Twist, Yelling At An Official, Undercutting The Entire Journey, DJ'ing for Horses, The Kinsey Scale vs. The Dohring Scale, Get Your Votes In For Halloween!
WHAT TIME IS - Ahem. Sorry, I should show some restraint. There's enough of our ecstatic energy poured into every single second of this episode to power a city, I should keep things chill in the description. Hello everyone. We are so excited to be starting this season off with a crowd favorite, the summertime sequel to the cultural phenomenon of HSM. Did it live up to the original? Does it stand on its own as- AHHH OF COURSE! THIS MOVIE IS SO GOOD!!! INJECT IT INTO MY VEINS!!! Luke feels more alive than ever before and is being given nothing. All right audience, your parents have gone out for the evening and left you in our capable hands. Don't worry, because we have a super-fun night planned for you! We're gonna play games, make snacks, and we'll read you a bedtime stor-huh? You'd rather we just talk your ears off all about the 2016 kinda sorta remake of Adventures in Babysitting? Well okay, just so long as you get to bed on time! Emma needs to stop being so suspicious and relives sneaking out at age four. Luke is impressed by this script and doesn't know anything about scalping. All right, all right, all right everyone! There is one heck of a battle ready to unfold in front of you. Us two killer MCs are gonna tear down not each other, but everything that the film Let It Shine is throwing at them. There's certainly a lot of things to diss considering it is trying to an adaptation of a classic play with teen drama, be a musical, have deep religious theming, and have some hip-hop thrown in there for good measure. One thing for sure though, we are definitely the most appropriate people to handle all of that. Lucas knows everything about rap and can't get over the creepiness factor. Emma gets wrapped up in the music and takes us to church. Talking Points: Quick Update, Musicals Don't Miss, Joe Wright Copying Disney Channel, The Pastel Problem, This Cast Slaps, FEDORAS EVERYWHERE, The Devil's Music, Keeping Kids Off the Street, Hunnies in the Club, The Rap Battles Rule, Filed Down Insults, Outdated Insults, Ebb and Flo, Disney Getting Risqué, Courtney Sells the Cringe, The Soulless Anti-Vaxxer Manager, Sucker MCs, Body Shapes vs. Shadows, Current Celebrity Sighting, That's Not What Karaoke Is, Rain of Requirement, A Classic Dead Parent Scene, The Rap Grand Slam Audience Takes No Prisoners, Absolutely Attacking A Young Girl In Front of Everyone, Walking Right Into A Marital Trap, America's Funniest Home Videos, On Punishment, Taking The Low Road, No One Reacts To All The Fame, Adaptation Discussions, Positive Putdowns, The Absurd Window Entrance, A Series of Quick Turns, Nicki/Gaga Dating Yourself, The Poor Attitude Towards Women, Improv Or Very Specific Lyrics, A Strange Energy In The Grand Slam, An Overpowering Comeback, Everyone Has To Go To Church, A Small Mistake To End On
Ahoy everyone! Join us up on the main deck as we discuss Tiger Cruise, a fun little movie about kids getting into trouble on board a Navy aircraft carrier. Doesn't that sound like a fun little movie for us to cover on the Fourth of July? Well guess what, that movie doesn't exist. Instead, this movie is really all about children confronting the September 11th Terrorist Attacks. The whole experience was a lot, but I think we were able to put together something for you all that isn't a total bummer to listen in on. Emma celebrates her president and is not immune to propaganda. Lucas regrets his word choices and feels bad about what he's done. Talking Points: TRIGGER WARNING, Patriotic Casting, Arbitrary Naming, When The Aircraft Carrier Be Rocking, So Much Stock Footage, Hayden Makes You Believe, Questioning the Defense Budget, A Distasteful Depiction, Shilling the US Navy, Good Old Connie, he Green Screen Using Pullman Sparingly, A USA Network/SVU Tangent, The Captain's Duties, Foreshadowing as Subtle As Pearl Harbor, Random Caricature Skills, Inappropriate Relationships, Sailors Gotta Eat, A Solid Heart-to-Heart, Pullman's Sport Mode, The Theme Park Legends Tangent, The Ceremonial Pre-Terrorist Attack Talent Show, A Lack of Goofs, The New York Strong Monologue, Trashing the Connie, The Propaganda Money-shot, Reborn A Brat
Hey, you! Quit all that monkeying around and listen to our newest episode! Sorry, I couldn't resist. Don't expect too many amazing puns like that in this movie though. You see, The Jennie Project isn't really about the kind of monkey-related hijinks you would expect from its premise. I know, it is very disappointing. I mean, there are plenty of messes made and silly situations our characters find themselves as a result of their animal companion. However, all of its other elements somehow manage to make all of them far less impactful than they should feel. So much so, that the movie kind of feels like it doesn't even really exist. Not much else to say really, I'm afraid. Oh, there's also some stuff about teaching an ape sign language? Honestly that part isn't as important as interesting as it sounds, but I feel like it is worth a mention. Luke has a pronunciation problem and makes very specific references. Emma flexes her Law & Order knowledge and makes bold claims. Talking Points: This Movie Does Not Really Exist, Mysterious Sciences, A Rough Understanding/Depiction of Africa, Monkey Business, Everybody Hates Hugo, Bypassing Customs, A Graphic DCOM Death, Intellectual Superiority, Chimps In Clothes, Monkey VO, A Disappointing Kitchen Trashing, The Missing Religious Element, The Most Depressing Lab Ever Seen, The Staples Tangent, Monkey Sports, The Dangers of Domestic Chimpanzees, The World's Meanest Primatologist, THE FIGHT, Lea's Spiritual Journey, The Dramatic Treehouse Monologue, Mr. Crap, The Great Letter Caper, The Great Downhill Debate, The Apemergency Room, A Literal Scopes Monkey Trial, The Judge Who Allows Anything, Monkey Heist, Jennie Won't Survive in the Wild
Oooh boy everyone, strap yourselves in for this month. Your intrepid hosts really didn't know what they were getting themselves into by watching Bad Hair Day. It's by no means terrible, but could possibly be the most mentally challenging film that we have yet to analyze. So much is going on that we have repeatedly summon our strength to continue, and we do it all for YOU. So the least you could do in return is join us as we go down the long and winding road this movie takes you on. Emma loves corndogs and needed a little help finishing the movie. Luke doesn't want to play games and implodes his own brain. A big woofy welcome to you all! I hope you all are ready for things to get a little hairy, as we dive into Life is Ruff. A movie all about…okay well honestly its somewhat deceiving to call it a movie. A story of a boy and his do….actually there is barely a story there at all if you think about it. Hm. Well I hope you can understand why we have a bit of a shorter episode on our hands folks, there really isn't a lot going on to sink our teeth into. Honestly, we probably managed to spend more time thinking about this movie than anyone working on it did. Well other than the dog, he is clearly a master of his art. Emma notices only the least important details and gets her mind blown by dog puns. Luke cracks the whip and doesn't notice the most important details. Talking Points: This Is Nothing, Thanks For Playing!, A Truly Massive Animal, An Existential Opening, The Dog Saves the Cat, Disney Channel's Scandal, Babyface Musso, An Age Discrepancy Issue, Expecting the Impossible, The Confusingly Delusional Villains, The Skateboarding Sucks, The Asthma Situation, No One Making This Movie Knew About Dog Shows, The Insane Long Montages, A Dog Climbs Up a House, The Terrible Dubbed Lines, THE SOUNDTRACK (LISTEN TO THE END), How Did That Work?, Meatball Play, A Woman Who Reads Comics???, A Dog's Trauma Flashback, Canine Red Carpet, Rondell Rules, Dog Show Speedrun, Dog Goons, The Tragic Asthma Backstory, Show Don't Suggest, A Child Runs The Dog Shelter, The Unemotional Dog Breakup, A Mystery Solved In Transit, Emily's Complete Character Turn, Who Setup That Fire???, A Skateboarding Exhibition/Dog Competition, Preston Tries to Commit a Murder, The Worst Prop Ever
Get ready for a wild ride everyone, because there's a lot going on with Miracle in Lane 2. It's a story of a young boy dealing with a serious illness, and how it affects both his life and the lives of those around him. Sometimes he manages to deeply inspire people he meets, and then other times people will say possibly the most awful things you've ever heard to a disabled child. Will the family be divided, or will they be brought together by the experience? Oh, and then also he decides to take up Soap Box Derby racing. Though I assure you that isn't as important to the story as you would think. So come along and join us as we try to unravel this tapestry full of subject matter that was way too complex for Disney Channel (and us too to be fair) to try and tackle. Luke just feels bad about everything and remembered things wrong. Emma incepts Ayn Rand into the show and gives a lesson dramatic reading. Talking Points: Ya Know: For Kids!, Is Soapbox Racing Even Real?, A Proto Malcom, We Are Totally Unqualified For This, The Kid In the Wheelchair Gets to Complain, Mama Bear, Night Painting, Green Light Go, God Drives Nascar, Funeral for a Wheelchair, The Yoder Sports Dynasty, Salad Dressing Memories, The Family Court, Little League Insurance Scares, On the Trophy Hunt, Dr. Kwan Rules, Never Look Through Your Parent's Drawers, Straight to the Shed, The First Projector, Special Strawberries, Vic's Dark Backstory, Cracking the Handbrake, An Insane Heart-to-Heart, Storming Off in a Wheelchair, A Poorly Aged Handling of Mental Health, The Disney+ Music Conspiracy, TROPHY-TROPHY, Biting the Bucket, Inappropriate Car Conversations With a Child, Big Soapbox Money, Last Minute Villains, Media Literacy Saves the Day, The Virtues of Tom, Wheelchair Angels
Aloha! Do you know what time it is? Island time! That's right, this month, we're heading to the beautiful shores of Hawaii to talk all about Rip Girls. A movie filled with surfing, self-discovery, and…real estate? Huh, that didn't end up sounding as enticing as I thought. Plus, there really isn't as much surfing as you'd think with that title. Although the title is really misleading actually. Also, they didn't even shoot it in Hawaii, and the real estate plot makes no sense when applied to a thirteen-year-old. So, uh, yeah. I guess just be prepared for a lot of teenaged self-discovery! Woot-woot! Emma is here for Camilla Belle and gets some comeuppance. Luke just doesn't get it and stands his ground about real estate. Claire makes clear her DCOM devotion. Talking Points: Plot vs. Emotion, A Landowning Child, Surf Lingo, A JoBros Sidebar, Camera Concerns, Computer-Made Hawaii, Driving Trucks Through Conversation, We Would All Take the Money, A Reverse Tsunami, How to Be a Better Liar, Disney Channel Safety Regulations, A Distinct Lack of Rip Girls, Dry Dock!, An (Intentional?) Lack of Laughter, IS HE AS TOGETHER AS HE SEEMS?, Ruining Your Cast, Taking Potions from Strangers, It's Good to Inquire About Your Dead Mom, Squatter's Rights, Call Your Parents!, Fighting Ghosts, Stealing a Dude's Hat, The Weird Second House, A Traditional Whale Ritual Party, Ripped Off By CGI, Hawaii Itself Is the Killer, This Should Not Be Her Call, Familial Deepfakes, Ruining Surfboards Without Asking, Gia's Missing Father, Sparkling Cider, Gia Should be Dead, The Lack of Surfing Continues, A Child Forces a Move to Hawaii, The Camilla Belle Deep Dive Interlude
Wow, it's been a minute huh? Don't worry, no involuntary hiatuses caused by scheduling issues and technical problems can keep us down! Still, I don't know how you all have managed to go so long without hearing from us. Your lives must have been so different…almost like you were living in another dimension??? Well have no fear! We've built just the thing to bring back to your original dimension (and also kind of back in time because this episode was recorded months ago but don't worry about that), an episode all about Phineas and Ferb: Across the Second Dimension! Come along as we look at yet another DCOM based on a Disney Channel TV show, and look at how they just never really seem to be able to do these totally right. Lucas respects the craftmanship on display and loves all the callbacks. Emma tries to get her brother fired and can't engage fully with animation. Talking Points: Meta Updates, Poor Titles, Perry Noises, Phineas and Ferb Drop Banger After Banger, A Deconstruction of Phineas and Ferb's Humor, Candace Is The Best, The Exposition Lair, World's Collide, The Mysterious Force, Phineas Has Nothing to Work With, Fedora Face Blindness, THE TRI-STATE AREA, Double Doof: Pros and Cons, Niche Georgia O'Keefe References, Resisting the Resistance, Disappointing Doppelgangers, A Platypus Rescue Mission, Commercial Breaks, Major Hologram, Dooooom, Weird It Happened Twice, Getting Lost Among All the Robots, Emotional Platypus Eye Contact, The Return of Love Händel, On Your Left, A Grown Man Fistfights A Child, Getting Locked Out of Your Evil Apartment, Crimes Against Humanity, The Maddening Mindwipe, Can This Be Done Correctly?, The One Thing We All Love: Slash from Guns N' Roses
Hey everyone! I know things around here have been a little out of whack lately, so I wanted to try make sure everyone understood what was going on. Basically, due to scheduling, technical, and personal challenges, we haven't been able to stay on top of our podcasting duties. Luckily, those issues seem to be clearing up and we are looking forward to getting back on track. First things first, however, we need to make sure everything still works after kind of being broken for a while. So, take a listen to get the scoop, then head over to twitter.com/DCOMedypodcast and let me know you heard it. Then you can expect your regularly scheduled programming to resume soon. Sorry about all the delays, and we appreciate you all bearing with us!
Well hello there strangers! Sorry that we've been so radio silent for awhile, but we were busy focusing on our higher education. In many ways, it was the highest education one could receive...and now we are ready to share everything we have learned with you at the one and only SKY HIGH! By which of course I mean we just spend most of this episode yelling about how much this movie slaps and how we know it by heart at this point. So if that's your thing, then welcome aboard. If not, the school floats and you can feel free to hop off this ride at any time. Unless you can't fly, in which case I hope you have the number of a really good bus driver.Emma wants her desires fulfilled and has several slips of the tongue. Lucas demands a TV spin-off and has no eye for romance.Talking Points: Spirits are Sky High, Development Discussions, How Did They Get This Cast?, The Slappin Soundtrack, Character Color Schemes, Kurt Russell Killing It, All About Layla, RON WILSON: BUS DRIVER, Muli-kate, The Obvious and Less Obvious Villains, A Classic Hero Appears, Boom Campbell, Will Stronghair, Our King Warren Peace, Save The World With Coke, Women Are Always Right, Empathy: The True Superpower, Teens Love Roofs, Alex Mack Explains It All, Mr. Sadboy, The Film's Superspeed Pacing, Ill-Will Towards Will, Mayo Overload, Moody Boys, Evil Twins, Rays vs. Beams, Getting Stood Up, Swirlies, Saving Citizens, Every Bit Is a Good Bit, Flight Foreshadowing, Quiet Female Rage, Superhero Teen Parties, Super Santa, The Big Dance, Bringing Up Bébé, Ethan the Underdog, Playing The Long Game, Guinea Puppets, Tom Kenny Is Here I Guess?
Hey there all you happy haunts, y'all ready to get spooky??? It's Halloween time again, and you already know Disney Channel is all about celebrating it right. This month however, we are taking a look at one of their more underrated offerings as we join the ranks of The Scream Team (even if that's not what they are called; don't ask). So join us as we have a rather unique group of DCOMmentators, who are all ready to talk about these ghostly situations…and even experience one themselves!Lucas loses control very quickly and his humor gets puninentional. Dyllan cultivates his fanbase and makes some terrible jokes.Sophie figures out every miniscule lesson this movie seeks to impart.Talking Points: Emma's Halloween Vacation, DCOM Groupies, The Really Weird Humor, Sarcastic Oversaturation, A Macabre DCOM, Kat Dennings' Puberty Situation, Pumpkin Carving Machines, An Incredibad Theme Song, Some Amazing Castings, Father/Son Turmoil, A Dead Mom: For Simplicity, Canadassachusetts, Straight-Up Ghostbusting, DCOMurder Mystery, Fake News, ZACHARIAH KULL:FIRE GHOST, Warner Is Just The Creepiest Man Alive, Ghost Rules, The Mario Tangent, Running Through a Forest, The Afterlife Bureaucracy, The Random Robo-Rooster, The Life Force Fallacy, Everything's Legal In New Jersey, Energy Schemes, Special Effects Acting, The Ghosts Do Nothing, The Walnut Argument, A Disney Channel B&E, New Orifice Powers, Costume Disappointment, A Massive Bonfire, The Conflict Is Solved By a Conversation, Anti-Climatic Closure
I'm not going to lie to you audience, be prepared to get deep in this month's episode. You'd think a cute little story like The Other Me would be relatively shallow, but the movie just raises so many moral and philosophical questions we couldn't help ourselv….haha got ya. I assure you very little gets examined here, other than the truly insane twists and turns this movie decides to go on instead of just sticking to its campy premise and tone. So why don't you come along with us as we go follow it down each and every one of them! From Depicting nudity on Disney Channel, lunchroom dance riots, and whatever the hell is going on at the nursing home; each one promises to bring double (Get it? Because clones) the intrigue and excitement of its predecessor.Luke acts like his sister and wants to keep things light. Emma dives way too deep and gets stuck down Wikipedia holes.Talking Points: A Disney+ Snubbing, The New Millennium, A Lack of Femininity, The Junior Confusion, Yo-Yo Kid, Allison Pill Rules, No Science = Good, What Is Up With Heather, Camp Spartacus, Dodging the Draft, Ocean Pups and Otter Pops, Hypercloning, So Many Questions About the Cloning Process, The Jig Is Immediately Up, All Genders Agree: Burping Contests Are Gross, GRANDPA MORDECAI, The Universal Frisbee, Twoie's First Day of School, The Electrifying Dance Riot, Scottie DeSota: Unlikely Hero, The Ice Cream Truck Diversion, Grandpa Mordecai Awakens, Will Goes Back to School, The Ticking Clock of Death, Getting Out On the Dance Floor, The Disney Junior Prom, Does He Know He Is Dying?, Science Juice, Chuckie Does All the Work, The Yo-Yo Argument, The Worst Place to Kidnap a Child, The Kiss No One Cares About, A Family That Lies Together Stays Together, You're Our Son Now!
Wow. Five whole years of our nonsense, can you believe it? Honestly it's been so long that if feels like even more. It kind of feels more like we're in the future…again! That's right, we are heading back to the far-off future of the 21st Century to catch up with our favorite space station superheroine Zenon in her very own Zequel. Come and celebrate with us as we work to focus on the good parts of movie that could use a lot more of them. Honestly, you guys are lucky we didn't decide to just start watching another movie in the middle of this episode. Luckily, our one and only king Protozoa is here in full force to make us forget our troubles every single time he shows up on screen.Emma doesn't understand orbit and falls down an accent hole. Lucas feels the zum in his heart and questions all of his sister's references.Talking Points: Zenon Makes Everything Better, The Margie Problem, Power Rangers/Star Wars Plagiarism, All The Recastings, New Slang/New Fits, Goodbye Greg, More Like NO-rion, The Military Is Here Now, Captain Zeo-non, Make Pancaked Happen, Reused Sets, Montage Mistakes, Everyone Hates Zenon Now, DON'T ASK HOW; IT JUST DID, The Most Nonsensical Plan, Why Is Margie There???, All The CGI Is Bad, Thank God Judy Is Still Here, A Truly Insane Investigation, The Meta Narrative of The Zilogy, Everything Happens Via Zap-pad, The Jungle Slog, Protozoa Steals The Show, Button Mashing Saves The Day, Space Expert Surprises, The Stupidest Way to Blow This Plan, The Margie Redemption, The New Zealand Space Cops, The Juditive (The Fugitive But Starring Aunt Judy), The Aliens Are In Danger Now, The Zessiah, The ATV Flying V, Astrid Kar Is Important Now I Guess, All The Problems At Once, The Stepsister From Planet Weird and Zenon Crossover We've All Been Asking For, Put Protozoa Everywhere, The Wedding of the Century
Hmmm…do you feel that? It's that weird vibe that's been around for awhile. What could it be? Oh, of course. It must be award season once again! Which can only mean it's time for the DCOM Choice Awards! A most incredible celebration, where we acknowledge everything the past year of DCOMs has had to offer. The truly thrilling highs…and the far more fun to talk about lows. So walk down the imaginary red carpet to be a part of a night sure to be full of happiness, disappointment, and definitely a whole lot of outrage from the voters because of how wrong we are about movies meant for children.Emma faces some tough choices. Lucas gets his motives called into question.Thank you so much to everyone who voted on twitter for the awards, and if you missed the polls be sure to follow us (@dcomedypodcast) so you can have your voice heard next year!Editor's Note: Yes we goofed up and got our Queen Dorothea's last name mixed up with her daughter's first name. That one's on us. However, none of you pointed it out when it was posted in the polls so who is really to blame here???
Sorry about the delay of game! Luckily, the DCOMedy Crew, along with new guest Spencer, are finally ready to take it to the hoop and talk about what might just be the greatest achievement in basketball cinema ever: Double Teamed. Join us as we journey to the strange and fantastical alternate reality of 1985 California, where rules don't matter and girl's basketball is the height of athletic entertainment. There we can all bear witness to the meteoric rise of two "identical" twins as they dominate the sport with their unique strategies and skills out on the court. Well okay, it's mostly their height. Really it's all about their height.Luke easily loses track of the twins and dives deep into a family's secrets. Emma breaks out a killer impression and awakens her inner teenage girl.Spencer spills the secrets on being a twin.Talking Points: Making Two Distinct Adults Look Like Thirteen-Year-Old Twins, A Title Moratorium, The Basketballing Is Both Good and Bad, A DCOM Period Piece, Larry and Mary: Two Sides of the Same Coin, The Greatest Skill of All: Height, Shady College Man/Personification of Fate, Everything Is Different Now For Some Reason, Hollow Farewells, Look At Those Freaks!, Drama Club Cliches, The Subtle But Amazing Coach, QUEEN NICKY, No Time For More Takes, A Lack of Dribbling, The Enigma Of Galen, The Missing Burge, Nicky's Tenacity, Twin Telepathy, The Most Important Scrimmage In The World, Confidential Arts and Crafts, School District Negotiations, Infected Wounds, A Clunky But Compelling Family Argument, All The Neighbors Hate These Girls, Yachts And Fever Dreams, The Stupidest Loss, Ball Is Life, The Villain Redemption We Deserved, Chekov's H, The Intense Other Basketball Coach, Money Shots And A Hot Hand, The Most Brutal Injury, The Perfect Counter-Strategy, The Longest Seven Seconds In Basketball
Happy Halloween Everybody!! Are you ready to get spook….wait, what? It's not Halloween? Oh good. I knew we had to take a little break from our podcast duties which pushed this episode back, but it didn't feel like it had been that long. Well it's not a big deal anyway. While Invisible Sister has many of the trappings of a good ole' Halloween DCOM, it's not really that big a part of it. It's more about two sisters learning more about one another through costumes, lacrosse, and (most importantly) science!Emma shames her brother's knowledge base and can't get a name right. Lucas lets guests into his mind palace and does a lot of white-knighting.Talking Points: Science In Halloween's Clothing, Ace-liens, Excessive Platitudes, Why CGI?, Genius/Goth, Correctly Aged Cast, The Problems With Perkins, FRO-YO, The Big Easy, Why Is George Here?, Meatballs???, Ingesting Insects for Invisibility (Brought to You By Ginger Fizz), Inconsistent Invisibility, The Fool-Proof Disguise, Spirit Circle, Boy's Bathrooms, Lacrosse Time, Full-On Cheating, Time For a Ticking Clock, High School Labs: The Most High-tech Environment Possible, The Moth Catching Side-quest, A More Complex and Emotional Conflict, Halloween Rears Its Head, Let's Romp the Swamp, Apologies to Nawlins, The Honeypot, Molly Makes a Weird Call, Perkins' Finger Guns, Slow-mo Fro-yo, and Slam Narration
Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello! In many ways, this episode is quite different from what I’m sure anyone could have expected. Not only is it not about the movie we originally announced for this month, but we found ourselves doing a far more in-depth analysis of a movie’s emotion and themes than we usually do for a DCOM. To our credit, however, this is seemingly simple story about a bunch of babies changing peoples lives has more to it than you would think. It’s about things like art, family, and passion…but definitely still has plenty of jokes about babies pooping and peeing a lot so don’t worry yourself.Lucas doesn’t understand babies and gets possessed. Emma changes her mind about meatloaf and hates unreliable narration.Austin dives deep into the each layer the film hides.Talking Points: KJB Kills It Every Time, A Litany of Weird Bits, The Time of Octomom, Don Knotts in the Mix, The Dark Realities of These Parents, The World According to Jamie, Big Meme Energy, What’s Going On With Brad?, Lying For No Reason, MR. B: PREDATOR, Genuine Emotion, Disney Channel Sex Talk, Dancing On the Lip of The Volcano, I Didn’t Know It Was Quints, Lollipop Cigars, Infant Vibes, The Grover Opioid Crisis, The Nightmare of Making Quints, Fiona Doubtfire, The Madness of Cake and Lasagna, Jackal Johnson Is Ripped, Stealing Rainbow Brite’s Style, Saw Puzzles For Poor Parents, Jamie Demeans The Audience, A Discussion about Don Knotts Sexual History, Running While Crying, Brad: The Lost Menendez, Adam Saves The Family, Albert Is Fired For Doing His Job, Literally Pointless Bikers, Yet Another Creep Is In Power, Did This Movie Even Really Happen?, Get It Together Charlie
Hey there bubbly boys, gaseous girls, and those intergalactic inbetweeners; are you ready to get weird??? Not in like a super fun way or anything, sorry if that was misleading. I just meant that we are watching Stepsister From Planet Weird this month and you need to be prepared. Not for anything to do with the aliens though, honestly that’s kind of not a big deal here. Really you just need to be ready for this film’s wild cultural references and strange sense of humor, coupled with the kind of whiplash only a DCOM can provide as it wildly flips from one tone to another.Emma gets way too deep and can’t stop laughing. Luke bungles the intro and says no to the dress.Talking Points: The End of the Zombies Saga, Dessert DCOMs?, A Strong Wind Surfing Component, The Crimes of Cosmo Cola, The Enigma of Cutter, A Surprisingly Deep Character Arc, The Last Gasp of the 1990s, Insane Architecture, Megan: The Only Sensible Person on Earth, Kathy Is Not Okay, What’s With the Potato Chips, Hats on Hats on Hats, Cutaway Gags, Cosmo Goes Too Hard, Bad at Being Human, Full CGI Nightmares, OUR QUEEN SERENA SOO, Speed of Light Engagement, The Immense (If Uninteresting) Power of Being Hot, We Needed More Mikey, A Major Cosmetics Representative?, The Most Convoluted Plan, Disney Channel Deep Cut, It Feels Like There Are Missing Scenes, Real World Parallels, Better Call Fred, The Realities of Zircalon Relations, Random Seltzer, Every Child Loves Sanford and Son, Hitting the Gaslight Pedal, This Is The World Megan Lives In, Intergalactic Accents, Monster Moments, Brought to You By Altoids, A Planet-saving Speech About Potato Chips, Reception Romance, The Lying Will Continue
Welcome friends of villainy! This month, the time has finally come for us dive deep into one of Disney Channel’s most recent hit franchises with Descendants. We are heading to the greatest country in the world, the United States of Auradon, to meet the various children of classic Disney heroes and villains. Can they get along? Will the bad blood between their parents define their future? Will a flowering love overcome all the hatred? Honestly, none of that is super important. We all know the talk of the town is the villain kid’s incredible outfits and choreography. I suppose sometimes it’s good to be bad…Emma loses her mind at a mascot and truly loves Dove. Luke wants Mevie to happen and hates Doug.Talking Points: More on Spin, Playing With That IP, The Belle Impostor, Behind Those Bestial Eyes, Thriving At Being Over the Top, Insane Lore, A Misunderstanding of Monarchies, Fairy Tale Pilot Program, The Crazy Choice of Cruella, The Cheap Crown, RIP CAMERON BOYCE, A Town of Bicycles, Jaws + Circus = Evil Island, They Did Jafar So Bad, Disney Villain Wine Mom, Magic Staring Contest, A Hot Aaron Stone Reference, A Very Sudden Heist, The Superfluous Vaudeville Song, What Is Up With Jane?, The Definitely Interesting Sport: Tourney, A New Demi Rises, Reading the Room, Disney Created Ben, The Malchelorette, Love on the Isle, Soooo Shirtless, Shout Out To Foreigner, The Continuing Battle for Wheelchair User Representation, It All Falls Apart?, Coronation Looks, A Very Convenient Twist, Everyone Is Bad at Being Frozen, Are You Really Best Friends?
Hey there everyone! How are you Cock-A-Doodle Doing?!?!?! Ugh. Sorry, our brains are a bit scrambled after having to pick apart Hatching Pete for you all. A movie that is by no means terrible, but definitely takes a toll on your mind, body, and soul. All we hope is that by listening to this episode we can save some of you the mental anguish we experienced as we suffered for our art by saying the word chicken more times than the human brain was ever designed to process. So tread carefully, but do still listen to us unravel as we uncover the dark secrets of the town of Brewster and the mysteries it hides under its exterior. While also trying to avoid spending any time talking about basketball or mascot antics since they really just start to blur together after a while.Luke throws out some theories and feels broken inside. Emma brings some strong wordplay and really nails her references.Talking Points: A True Enigma, Please Watch Hatching Pete Responsibly, The Most Grotesque Character in a DCOM, Why Is This a Comedy?, A Gym of Confused Teenagers, The Incredibly Small Gym, The Mess of Camie Poole, The Terrible But Beloved Basketball Team, The Trampoline of Emotions, A Lack of Food Fun, THE CULT OF THE CHICKEN, Low Energy Ivey, We Can’t Describe The Basketball And Antics, Iron Chicken, Everybody Loves/Hates The Chicken, Houston From Houston, Chicken Possession, Everyone Is Horny For The Chicken, An Incredibly Easy Sell, We’re Over The Hill, Detective Dill, Now Everyone Just Loves The Chicken, Deep Cut Comic Book References, Cheating With The Chicken, Poole Pulls A 180, The Twine Returns, The Secret Is Stupidly Revealed, Unfulfilling Heart To Hearts, Grand Theft Avian, The Magic’s In The Mystery Now I Guess, Pete & Cleat, The DCOMedy 2021 Bane-Off, The Chicken’s Secret Stuff
After the past year, one would have hoped this month would have started 2021 off better in the grand scheme of things. However, at least we can say we are starting the year off right on our show by taking a look at the exceedingly fun time that is Jump In! While it is definitely a movie that doesn’t take a ton of risks with its plot, it makes up for it with solid music, great chemistry, and plenty of that sweet double dutch action that just never gets old. Oh yeah, there is also some boxing in there for some reason but don’t let that ruin all that other good stuff for you.Luke gets nauseous from the camera and is always in Corbin’s Corner. Emma can’t stand the narration and won’t be steamrolled.Talking Points: Soundtrack Conflict, Corbin and Keke, Basically A Sports Biopic, Boxing Is Too Violent For Disney Channel, Corbin and Parkour, The Return of The King, Disney Actually Tries, A Well-Done Dead Parent, Disney Channel Sibling Age Gaps, Tammy: Feminist Icon, Big Balcony Problems, The Narration Spoils Its Ending, The Enigma of Mr. Hook, Gina’s Unfounded Hatred, Double Dutch Looks Rad, Where Is Bridget?, The Worst Boxing Ever, This Movie Hates Kids With Glasses, Double Dutch Destroys Lives, Pouring Liquid On Someone: A Rock Solid Comeback, What Was Rodney’s Plan, The Oldest Camera, Disney Has a Lawsuit Incoming, Nunya What?, Blow Off Your Girlfriend Son!, The Obsessive Photo Lab, Who Cares About This?, The Closest We May Ever Get to A Disney Channel Yo Momma Joke, That’s Your Takeaway? While we certainly hope the new year will be full of change for all of us, our last episode of the year has us treading some very familiar ground. A high schooler discovering a new passion that changes them, their new passion conflicting with their previous one, their relationship with a parent evolving in unexpected ways, and of course: hockey. You’d think rehashing these concepts would make for an easy, if rather by-the-numbers, DCOM. For some reason however, this movie decided to try movie so many other things it ended up a bit messier than it needed to be. Go Figure.Emma loves figure skating and gets obsessed with the romance. Luke can’t handle the “girly” humor and gets way too frustrated about a kids' movie.Talking Points: Too Much Telling With No Showing, Disney Channel Chicago Representation, The Eternal Wheel of DCOMs, Indoor Sports Domination, Spotty Narration, The Enigma of Ed, BOB AND GINGER, Topical Tonya Harding References, The Definitely Super Accurate Russian Woman, Walk-a-thon Woes, Everything About the Brother Sucks, Watch Out For Hooners, She Should Be in College, Someone Actually Asks Questions, Katelin Is a Republican, Twirl Girls, Time Has No Meaning, Nobody Taught Her Hockey, Irrational Hatred of Figure Skaters, An Out of Sequence Scene, Party-Party/Pamela’s Pulley Pranking Plan, That’s Kristi Yamaguchi!, The Problem Is Pamela, Terrible Fake Crying, Pregnancy On Ice, A Student Blackmails a Grown Man, Nothing Was Phat in 2005, The Worst Kept Secret In Hockey, Disney Channel Doping, Everyone Tells Her Not to Throw Away Her Dream, We Need to Talk About Pamela, The Brother’s Robot Becomes Relevant, All The Rules Get Thrown Out, An Absolutely Terrible Closing Line
After a rather difficult year for basically the entire world, we wanted to escape into something a bit more magical. Luckily for us, Disney Channel made a whole TV show about a Wizard family in an entire magical world that got so popular they gave it a whole movie! So join us as we head down to Waverly Place and….what’s that? Oh. I’ve just been informed that the majority of this movie completely removes the family from their established setting and characters to have them go on vacation. How original. I’m sure this won’t feel like an entirely out of continuity side story at all.Lucas refuses a mental image and agrees with his sister for once. Emma battles her own boredom and has a broken brain.Talking Points: Canonicity Questions, Selena Gomez Juice, Wizards’ Accolades, The Unnecessary Max Russo, A Hilarious Dad and Overly Sexy Mom, Opening Issues, The Wizard World Sucks, Alex’s Illusions of Grandeur, A Perfectly Fun Family Vacation, Unjustified Emotion, Massive Info Dumps, The Bad Bird Vibes, Middle Aged And Ready To Party, This Setup Makes No Sense, Sleeping On The Job, This Movie Could Use Some Time Travel, Lazy Quicksand, A Human Moment Between Wizards, Upsetting Campfire Chats, Man vs. Bird, Everyone Just Gives Up, The Violent Tornado of Reality, A Very Athletic Wizard Battle, The Stupidest Necklace Ever, Bird Body Horror, Justin’s Eye Issues, A Reality Level Yeeting, Everyone Is Surprised Alex Does the Right Thing
Happy Halloween Listeners! To celebrate the spookiest of seasons, we’re covering a The Phantom of the Megaplex! A movie full of…uh…umm…okay so to be honest with you, this movie ended up being far less Halloweeny than we were led to believe. It is a bit more focused on being a whodunit than putting out those spooky vibes. However, we are happy to report that it is also about an absolute legend named Movie Mason who has the entire world wrapped around his finger…and some other things too.Emma gets hung-up on an unnamed character and has pronunciation problems. Luke fails at an accent and almost comes to blows with his sister. Dyllan gets swept up in the movie magic.Talking Points: Scooby-DCOM, Warm Movie Memories, An Actually Good Protagonist, There Are Only Boring or Wild Names, The Rooney Factor, The Many Protagonists, Fake Movie Titles, The Largest Bowl of Cereal Ever, Breaking Labor Laws, Donny Loves Pete, Alternate Phantom Theories, Very Unsexy Uniforms, Movie Mason’s Burlesque Days, Home Alone Level Stunts, Friends Who Hate Each Other, What Is A Cinema Sitter?, Caitlin’s Movie Theater Fetish, A Town of Karens, Public Domain Phantom Music, The Fan Hits the Fan, Extras in the Wind, THE PLANT METAPHOR, So Many Stairs, A Way Too Emotional Monologue, The Phantom’s Editing Skills, Brian Takes Charge, Boring Water Balloons, The Roof of Death, Misplaced Messages, The Phantom Shops at H&M, Smart House Reference!, They Solve It Offscreen?, A Solid Stunt, Why But No How, Pete Buys His Lady Breakfast
We have quite an interesting case this month gang. We’ve covered dcoms built on the backs of things like books and TV shows before, but this is a different kind of beast. It is not only tied to a feature film, but by many metrics is not a Disney Channel Original Movie! However, since it bears the title, we traveled to the kingdom of Corona (yikes) to go on an all setup no payoff adventure with Rapunzel in Tangled: Before Ever After.Emma just wanted a sequel and is overly attracted to these cartoons. Luke has controversial Prince opinions and some animation qualms.Talking Points: We Got Tricked, A New/Old Spin, Tangled and Tooth Pain, No Eugene Only Flynn Rider, Rapunzel Hates Shoes, Unfulfilled Horse Romance, Maximus Rules So Hard, Clancy Brown Can’t Sing, Everybody Hates Flynn, Eugene SIMP-herbert, Lady Caine vs. Cassandra: Who Deserves to Be the Villain?, The Sudden Appearance of France, Super Weird Kiss Baiting, Cassandra Goes Dark, A Strangely Horrific Proposal, Ascot Bargaining, Pascal’s Puppetry, Things Get Ominous, Rapunzel Is A Superhero, The Mom Decides to Be Important, The Stupidest Villain Motivation, Chekov’s Frying Pan
Alright listeners, time for you to dig deep and find your spots! Because we have decided to celebrate our fourth anniversary (ignore all the times we say fifth, we are bad and wrong) by coming at you with as much growl power as we could muster. That’s right everyone, we are covering easily one of our most requested movies: The Cheetah Girls! Our apologies.
It’s award season once again! Plus, since there aren’t really gonna be many other awards shows for awhile, we can officially present to you the greatest awards show experience of the year! That’s right, it’s time for the one and only the DCOM Choice Awards! The most magical of nights, where we acknowledge both the highs and the lows the past year of DCOMs has had to offer. So don’t miss out on a night sure to be full of laughter, tears, and I’m sure disagreements from our audience over our opinions. Emma can’t stop joining cults. Lucas shames Emma’s lack of showmanship.Thank you so much to everyone who voted on twitter for the awards, and if you missed the polls be sure to follow us (@dcomedypodcast) so you can have your voice heard next year!
Listen up guys. If you have any common sense, you should turn back before it is too late. We thought we would have a fun time watching the now-notorious Radio Rebel, but there was almost no fun to be had. This movie brought us nothing but pain, from the baffling character choices, insane dialogue, and (perhaps worst of all) the wardrobe.Emma reminisces about statement jewelry and can’t tell what’s good anymore. Lucas gets his life force drained and wants to call it early.Talking Points: Disney’s Folly, News At Last, Classic High School, Far Out Fashion, THE POPS, No 2012 Teen Wants This, The Least Interesting Point of Entry, Larry and Barry: Unimportant Idiots, Call Me Radio Rebel, A Band Post Lemonade Mouthing, Please No G’s, Tara’s “Shyness” Troubles, Drastic Departure From DCOM Parents, Bad Bedroom Design, Bang Acting, The State of Radio in 2012, Shakespeare But Bad, Kleptomaniac Principal, Random Food Theft, Radio Hor-Rebel, The Silent G’s, The Saddest Man Alive, Idiotic Fears, Everyone Protests the Wrong Person, An Unbelievable Sandwich Plan, The Morp, A Pointless Tangent About The Mask, Stacy Is Delusional, An Insane Show of Blocking, Show Don’t Tell, All the Morp Madness, The Stupid Sandwich Surprise
Get in our shady red heist van, audience. We need your help. We weren’t feeling very patriotic this Fourth of July so we decided to live vicariously through Nicolas Cage as he robs the U.S. Government blind. That’s right, we watched the modern masterpiece that is National Treasure and now we are way too hype to NOT steal the Declaration of Independence. You in? Of course you are. Oh, by the way do you have any lemons?Emma still would and proves women can’t be trusted. Lucas kills the mood and tries to keep things out of New York. Dyllan flexes his history muscles.Talking Points: Always Check for Christopher Plummers In The Attic, The National Treasure Ride, Production Promises, National Treasure Three Plot Ideas, The Genius of Riley Poole, Wildly Accented Henchmen, Unnecessary Chirons, Certified Smokeshow Diane Kruger, I’M GONNA STEAL THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, Nic Cage Just Wants His Treasure, Washington DC Tourism Porn, Heist Prep!, Scandalous Deleted Scenes, Horny For Adventure, The Most Insane Toast, The Worst Marksmen, Kidnapped By Cage, The Keitel Enigma, Everyone’s Getting Fired, Treasure and Pleasure, Nic Cage Pillow Talk, Abigail Goes All In, We Are All Harvey Keitel, The Criminal Mastermind Who Uses Ask Jeeves, Urban Outfitters: The Wild West of Clothing, Water Magnification, The Deep Backstory of Phil, The Most Reckless FBI Op, The Treasure Was Family All Along
Alright gang, let’s start your engines! That’s right, for June we are all about drag racing. All day, every day. We just love it when the cars go fast, and when…um…the cars go even faster somehow? Okay I’ll be real, the sport this movie focuses on doesn’t really photograph well and was kind of difficult to grasp the mechanics of. While the racing might fall a bit flat, the romance can be disappointing, and the pacing is crazy, it can be hard to notice all that when you’re focused on staying Right on Track!Luke keeps trying to cut bits and checks in with his best friend. Emma demands a rival romance and can’t handle the timeline.Talking Points: Justice for Jordy, Benjamin Button Enders, Children Driving Cars, Ugly Trophies, Nonsensical Sexclusion, Gregg Enders’ Side Hustle, Love in the Fast Lane, There Is Only French Class, The Party of the Century, Seraphim of the Speedway, Being Way Too Horny, RACERGIRL, Stop Playing Volleyball!, Gregg Goes Off, Doug Pennzoildome, Erica’s Last Goodbye, A Medical Marvel, Getting Back On The Dragstrip, The Randy of the Opera, Double Power Moves, Everyone’s Favorite Product: Gumout, Papa Pennzoil, Drag Racer Driving Tests, BDErica, Ice Skating Social Suicide, Alcohol Curveball, A Sitcom Tangent, Mucho Pressure, The Win Spike, Dejadome Vu, ESPN Le Sept, No Room for Improvement, Gregg the Computer Electronics Genius???, The Editing Kills the Ending
Alright listeners, this month DCOMedy is going Hollywood. We’re even bringing our new friend Paige along for the ride! That’s right, we’re living the big time in Los Angeles by reviewing Starstruck. You’d think it was a classic story of a regular girl meeting a celebrity and going on an adventure, but really it turns out to be a true roller-coaster of a relationship. Not with your ordinary ups and downs either, more like them changing wildly between wanting to kill each other or falling in love? Maybe? Kind of? It won’t last.Emma can't handle the costumes and gives storm-out advice. Luke wants a real villain and just loves Stubby. Howdy there partner! You look like someone who could learn a thing a two about having some Horse Sense. What’s Horse Sense you ask? Well…uh…um….it’s…look. We may have devoted our April episode to this 1999 Lawrence Brothers showcase, but we have no earthly idea what it’s title has to do with the movie. The filmmakers apparently didn’t feel it was important to connect them. The only thing for sure they had to do was to make Joey Lawrence look as hot as possible, and by God they did their duty.Lucas fights some body issues and shows some woodworking knowledge. Emma invents a troubling romance and has no qualms about this attraction.Talking Points: Big ABC Family Energy, Magical Creature Crushes Continued, What Is Horse Sense?, Horse Sense of the Cinnamaron, Rodeo Drive, Hitting the Pube, The Chiseled Joey Lawrence, Gina with the Va, Kids Love the Costner, Disneyland Teases, Into the BrinkVerse, Tube Slide Slapstick, Disney Says Horse Rights?, Family Finance Troubles, Ranch Life, Cowboy Language, Boring Sabotage, Literal B.S., God’s Painting?, Wolf Watch, STAMPEDE, Wild Horses, Bad Time Flow, Messing Up the Message, Pyramid Schemes, Tree-house Meltdowns, Horse Porn, Real Estate Law Saves the Day
Okay everyone, you know what time it is. Dust off your Z-bands and pom-poms, because (despite the wishes of one of our hosts) we are headed back to Seabrook. That’s right, we are reviewing the freshly released Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 2 and all of the craziness that comes with it. Come along as we dive right into how this world gets even wilder thanks to werewolves, monster laws, and unfulfilled prophecies.Emma fights for the people and wins a personal victory. Lucas is in denial and missed a massive metaphor.Talking Points: Mixed Messages, Choreography War, Adult Lizzie, Leaving Out the Werewolves, The Coach’s Return, A Cheer Mansion, THE PRAWN, Eliza’s Horrible Theory, The Buck-zooka, Bree and Bonzo Business, Shrimp and Run, Were-goths, Alpha Wolves Don’t Exist, Inconsistent Monster Laws, Surname Stupidity, Seabrook’s Three Genders, The Lack of Tension, De-jokerization, Werewolf Racial Slurs, Magical Werewolf Makeovers, Worn Out Howling, These Films Keeps Ripping Off Hamilton, The Movie Won’t End, The Only Weapon is Cheer, An Entirely Pointless Argument About Silver Gas, Cool Water Dancing Causes Bummer, Werewolf Formal Ware, Hobbling Into Prawn, Seabrook’s Suspicious Seismology, National Treasure: Book of Zombies, We’re Zom In This Together
After taking a short leave, the dauntless DCOMedy crew is reporting for duty to give you our full report on the most accurate military film ever made: Cadet Kelly! Join us as we follow a classic fish out of water story, where the free-spirited Hilary Duff is dropped into a world of hard work, zero individuality, and strict rules. Too bad not a single person decided to actually tell her what those rules were, huh? That probably would have helped a lot.Emma calls out her brother and has her heart break for Kelly. Lucas doesn’t understand gymnastics and confronts his own mortality.Talking Points: Girl Movie Disdain, Zombies Rise Again, Terrible Parents, Unnecessary Narration, Every Fish Life Is Worth Saving, Duff in Denial, Military Porn, Kelly’s Conformity, Everybody Loves Brad, CCR’s BDE, Military Messenger Bags, Let Carla Have Something, Going Downhill, Dirty Bird Brad, Cracker Jack Court, Borrowing Spit, Hair Problems, Head Rubs, Sudden Plot Shifts, That Flavor, Dance for Me, Girl Loves a Bangle, Permission to KRUMP, The Rumsfeld Drop, No Tolerance for Nokias, We Suck at Describing Things, The Feels, Things Get Wild, Tonal Whiplash, This Was an Autobiography??Editor’s Note: There was a strange audio hiccup towards the end of the episode that made us lose some of our usual wrap-up. Therefore you may notice a quick cut towards the end and a lack of ratings this time around. For those who actually keep track of our scores at home, which I honestly hope is none of you, Emma gave it a 7.5 and Lucas gave it a 7.
Ah, superheroes. What’s not to love? People with amazing abilities and cool costumes acting selflessly to help their fellow man. It’s perfect! So certainly, Disney Channel’s own superhero movie Up, Up, and Away! will be a slam dunk! What’s that? The superheroes have no urgency to help people, the budget is so low they can’t really show cool powers, and the costumes are so bad it hurts the eyes? Well, uh, with any luck an under-aged superhero will be around to electroshock the bad memories of this film from my brain and just leave the stuff we thought was fun. Like the foil thing! That was fun, right? Or was it a cheap workaround? Hmmmm….Luke settles a score and finds a mortal enemy. Emma calls out a bad boyfriend and makes a quick exit. Dyllan just wants to talk about Entourage.Talking Points: The Incredible Sky High, Wolf Children, An Excessive National Treasure Tangent, Sound Design Disaster, Super Incorrect Ages, Superfoods, A Reverse Get Out, A Totally Informed Romance, School of No Concerns, Evil Attire, Costume Fails, Nonchalant Bank Robbery, The Fourteenth Year, THE FLYING DOOR, Everyone Becomes an Idiot, Nina The Gullible Genius, Unplanned Skydiving, The Costumes Fail Even Harder, Everyone Is Useless, That’s Not How Masks Work, The Cool Worm, Geriatric Heroics, The Most Obvious Trap, Just Close Your Eyes!, A Pointless Ruse, Horny for Removing Memories
Ho, Ho, Ho! Merry Christmas dear listeners! I hope you are all on the nice list this ye- What’s that? Christmas was a week ago and it’s literally New Year’s Eve when we are posting this? It basically defeats the purpose of doing a Christmas DCOM in the first place? Well if you keep that naughty thinking up, someone is getting an ant farm instead of a new episode all about ‘Twas the Night like they wanted.Luke tries out a new voice and begs for a zombie apocalypse. Emma hates the new voice and wants this to be over. Drew & Riley are in shock after watching this film.Talking Points: Doctor Stuff, The Beans of a Simpler Time, THE BABY VOICE, Muniz Money, Bruce Lee Christmas Tree, Santa Dropping a Deuce, Self-Congratulating Writing, Eggnog Abuse, The Wrigley Super Virus, Santa’s Super Stupid Sleigh, Claus Technology, Santa Prat Fall, Gift Income Inequality, The Plot Stops Happening, Nobody Expects a Spanish Inquisition Reference, Confused Themes, A Dead Dog Appears, Santa’s Sloshing Stomach, My Boy Pablo, Naughty Boys, Peter’s Piss Saves Christmas, The Canadian Royal Family, Silence on Silence, Caitlin: Magic Mechanic, Santa Sexual TensionEditor’s Note: We were out of our usual recording environment for the holidays so apologies if the audio sounds a little off at times.
