Revival : a unique season where the Spirit of God is helping you in a supernatural way. Title: Get Close The Verse - James 4:8 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. (NIV) The Window - Matthew 15:29-37 29 Jesus left there and went along the Sea of Galilee. Then he went up on a mountainside and sat down. 30 Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. 31 The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel. 32 Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.” 33 His disciples answered, “Where could we get enough bread in this remote place to feed such a crowd?” 34 “How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked. “Seven,” they replied, “and a few small fish.” 35 He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. 36 Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people. 37 They all ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. (NIV) 10 Close-up Takeaways 1. The Place 2. The People 3. The Volume 4. The Togetherness 5. The Healing 6. The Compassion 7. The Miracle 8. The Involvement 9. The Power 10. The Plenty The Story - Mark 8:22-25 22 They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. 23 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?” 24 He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.” 25 Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. (NIV) I want to leave you with a few values my first pastor helped me zoom in on: • to be close I must spend TIME in prayer with God • to be close live as an offering to God and for God. • to be close to God is to impact others Psalm 73:28 But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do. (NLT)

Deuteronomy 28:43-48a (NLT) 43 “The foreigners living among you will become stronger and stronger, while you become weaker and weaker. 44 They will lend money to you, but you will not lend to them. They will be the head, and you will be the tail! 45 “If you refuse to listen to the LORD your God and to obey the commands and decrees he has given you, all these curses will pursue and overtake you until you are destroyed. 46 These horrors will serve as a sign and warning among you and your descendants forever. 47 If you do not serve the LORD your God with joy and enthusiasm for the abundant benefits you have received, 48 you will serve your enemies whom the LORD will send against you. You will be left hungry, thirsty, naked, and lacking in everything. Romans 12:11 (NLT) Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Romans 12:11 (MSG) Don’t burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Don’t quit in hard times; pray all the harder. 2 Corinthians 8:7 (NLT) Since you excel in so many ways—in your faith, your gifted speakers, your knowledge, your enthusiasm, and your love from us [a] —I want you to excel also in this gracious act of giving. 1 Corinthians 15:58 (NLT) So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. “One of the greatest things you can do is to get excited about your life and start to live enthusiastically day after day; your whole world will improve. If you wait to get joy until some lucky outer event happens – guess what? If you wait, what does life do? It waits. And if you hold back until a more appropriate time to get excited and fire up what does life do!? It holds back. You’re going to hold back on enthusiasm, develop lots of patience, because you’re going to wait a long time for an exciting life.” – John Maxwell Enthusiasm is … An Energizer An Elevator An Eliminator How Do You Live Out Enthusiasm 1. It’s a Choice. “Being fired up is not a personality type but a type of obedience” 2. Hang around with enthusiastic people. 3. Pray and invite God to come live within you.
