What if everything you learned about health and medical school is missing the real secrets to thriving, energetic living? In this premiere episode of the 2025 season of Health Hacks, Mark L. White pulls back the curtain on cutting-edge approaches that most doctors still aren't teaching—straight from one of Miami's leaders in regenerative and functional medicine, Dr. Kendrick Heywood. Episode Summary: Join host Mark L. White and guest Dr. Kendrick Heywood for a deep dive into the essential “five pillars” of health—covering everything from individualized nutrition, gene-driven exercise, optimal supplementation, hormone optimization, and breakthrough biohacks. Dr. Heywood reveals how he transitioned from traditional internal medicine to the forefront of anti-aging therapies, why most med schools still neglect these advancements, and how everyday patients (not just athletes!) can radically transform their health outcomes. Key Highlights: Myth-Busting Medicine: Discover why Dr. Heywood says 0% of what he uses today to optimize patient health was taught in med school. Personalized Diet & Exercise: Learn why the best approach for you isn't a fad diet—but a regimen designed for your unique genetic makeup. Hormone Optimization Demystified: Get the real story on hormone therapies, peptides, and why targeting the “top end” of health can change everything. Next-Level Biohacks: From red light therapy and hypberbaric chambers to exosomes and shockwave treatment—find out which futuristic tools Dr. Heywood recommends and why. Behind-the-Scenes Stories: Hear the incredible story of how Dr. Heywood saved NBA legend Dennis Rodman, and what it means to go above and beyond for patient care. Putting It Into Action—Listener Takeaways: Assess Your Pillars: Start by evaluating your own five pillars—are you optimizing each, or stuck in old routines? Get Personalized: Consider genetic testing to unlock your best diet and fitness plan, rather than chasing one-size-fits-all trends. Explore Biohacks Safely: Research and, if possible, consult with experts about the safest, most effective regenerative therapies (like red light therapy or IV vitamin drips). Ask About Hormones & Peptides: If you keep hitting fitness or wellness plateaus, consult a forward-thinking practitioner about hormone and peptide therapies tailored to your needs (not just based on “normal” ranges). Connect for Expert Guidance: Follow Dr. Heywood on Instagram (@drkenhaywood) for daily educational tips and updates on the latest in health optimization. Ready to take your health (and possibly your career) to the next level with strategies most doctors don't even know exist? Tune in—your path to a more thriving, energetic you starts here. Cam Arminio's Full-Court Mission: More Than Just a Game At Cedarville University, Cam Arminio is known for helping students get ready for life after graduation. As the Associate Director of Career Services, he coaches them through résumé prep, mock interviews, and LinkedIn tips — all with the heart of someone who truly wants to see others succeed.  From Day One to Day 1,000, Cam is in their corner. But there's another side to Cam's story — one that plays out on the basketball court. Listen to his encouraging interaction with the game on this week's Cedarville Stories podcast. Cam has loved basketball his whole life. Back in high school, it was his identity. But when he became a Christian at 17, everything changed. What once took center stage became a way to serve something bigger. And today, he's using that same game to point others to Christ through the Cedarville Basketball Ministry. Each Sunday during the school year, dozens of students gather to play. Some come for the love of the game, others are fueled by the adrenaline rush of competition — but all of them find more than they expected. At halftime, Cam and his group of student leaders pause to share something lasting: the message of Jesus. It's not flashy. It's not forced. It's just real people connecting through a shared love for basketball and encountering something deeper along the way. During the week, those connections continue through Bible studies, as student leaders follow up with guys they've met on the court. The goal is simple: to reach young men who may not be ready for church pews but will show up to play. And once they're there, to open a door to faith and friendship. Looking ahead, Cam has big plans. More events off campus. New ways to connect. And even a Global Outreach trip to the Czech Republic in 2026 — carrying on the legacy of Coach Don Callan by using basketball to share the Gospel overseas. For Cam and the team, it all comes down to this: meaningful competition, Gospel-centered outreach, and life-giving community. Because sometimes, the court is where the real ministry begins. https://share.transistor.fm/s/7575329bhttps://youtu.be/CZbA05jExcQ

If you are mobilizing in an organization, you know the frustration that can sometimes exist when others unknowingly sabotage your mobilization efforts or at the very least, don't quite see the importance of mobilization. Today, Dave has a frank conversation with John Darnell, CEO of Global Outreach International. John unpacks his philosophy of mobilization, how to balance hitting the recruitment numbers with discipleship, and what he did to increase the mobilization culture at Global Outreach. Here's what Dave asked him: Let's talk about when you became the CEO of Global Outreach and how you had to shift things as a leader to support mobilization. How do you create healthy collaboration between departments? When it comes to the philosophies of mobilization, how do you navigate the tension that sometimes exists between mobilization recruiting and mobilization discipleship? Mobilizers can often feel pressure to hit the numbers and that can demotivate them. How do you encourage your mobilization staff to keep them motivated? You mentioned earlier to me that you have had to “push the board.” Can you explain what you mean by that and what occurred? What are you seeing change in the church and what must we do differently as we mobilize the body of Christ?

We want to give you a glimpse into what God is calling Liquid Church to do in 2025. Be encouraged: What we do today will matter in 100 years and for all of eternity. You can leave a legacy and our work begins today. As a church, we have four areas we want to focus on in 2025. The first is Bible Literacy. The church is prioritizing deepening Bible understanding across all age groups. The second area of focus is on the Next Generation. Liquid Church is investing in Gen Z and Gen Alpha through mentorship, scholarships for high school seniors, and programs tailored for their spiritual growth. This generational focus aims to shape minds with Scripture and equip youth to engage with faith in today's culture. Our third initiative will be Church Expansion. Growth plans include launching Spanish services in key locations, supported by AI-translated sermons. The church is also pursuing permanent locations for its Somerset and Middlesex County Campuses. And, our fourth initiative is Global Outreach, specifically the Clean Water Cause. New efforts will focus on large-scale water projects and building churches in the Dominican Republic, providing both physical and spiritual resources to underserved communities. Watch this message from Pastor Tim Lucas and consider how you can help leave a legacy for generations to come.

The Venus Project was started in the 1980s by Jacques Fresco and Roxanne Meadows with the aim of showing that it was possible to lead a more human centered existence… as long as you built outside of the capitalist market system. Over the decades, the fortunes of the project have fluctuated - from an initial burst of enthusiasm and action (Meadows and Fresco built almost all the structures on the property by hand themselves) to the grinding reality of what it means to grow a stable and vibrant community, to the immense surge of popularity just as Fresco's life came to an end. Project members Roxanne Meadows and Nate Dwindiddie come by the show with previous guest Simon Michaux to talk about the failures and successes of the project, and what it might look like when its reborn as the framework for Michaux's Prometheus Project. Dr Denise Gemmellaro is a forensic entomologist, and my guest today.   We discuss how she initially pursued medical school but found it was not for her.   She found forensic entomology to be a complete and engaging field that allowed her to work on real cases and teach. Dr. Gemmellaro emphasized the importance of students realizing they can change their career path and explore different avenues. Forensic entomology involves the study of insects and arthropods in medico-legal investigations, providing valuable information on the circumstances of death and post-mortem events. In entomotoxicology, substances found in maggots can indicate what was present in the body prior to death, aiding in toxicology analysis. Dr. Gemmellaro has conducted training for law enforcement in forensic entomology, emphasizing the importance of proper evidence collection and handling. She has also been involved in international projects in Africa and Central America to introduce forensic science and inspire local professionals in the field. Dr. Gemmellaro encourages those interested in forensic entomology to explore entomology programs and resources, as well as consider related fields like law enforcement or lab technician roles.   Links for this episode: Health Podcast Network  LabVine Learning Dress A Med scrubs Digital Pathology Club   Dr Denise Gemmellaro email American Board of Forensic Entomology The ESA (Entomological Society of America) ESA pages listing the entomology programs in the US: here and here   People of Pathology Podcast: Twitter Instagram

A Man With a PurposeAfter leading students at Cedarville University to worship the Lord for 40+ years, Jim Cato has retired. Celebrate his story on this episode of the Cedarville Stories Podcast.Jim Cato quickly learned as a young man that his skills were better used off the field than playing football. So he tried Bible college, which didn't work out either, and he eventually dropped out.But after getting married, he and his new wife learned about this small school called Cedarville College in Ohio. They packed up their belongings and moved to Ohio, before even applying or knowing where they were going to live.Jim went on to earn a bachelor's degree in music, still without any clue of what he wanted to do with his life — or how he would use a degree in music. But the Lord began opening doors, including the opportunity to lead a music team on a missions trip to Australia.Shortly after, a position became available in Cedarville's Christian Ministries department. The position was focused on training music teams to travel and minister overseas. Even with Jim's limited experience, he got the job — and he's never left!Jim has faithfully served with Christian Ministries for over 40 years, including taking various trips with Global Outreach, including one providing hurricane relief after Hurricane Harvey. And, instead of solely ministering to the residents in Houston who were affected by the hurricane, in the end, Jim was the one who needed care. After a few days of working in homes with Cedarville students, Jim began to experience headaches. But these were not his typical headaches, as the pain increased each  day.Eventually, the pain led Jim to wake up his roommate in the middle of the night and ask to be taken to an emergency room. And the trip to the hospital proved challenging, as neither the driver nor Jim knew Houston well enough to navigate the trip. After being rushed to the hospital, and doctors performing a battery of tests, Jim learned that he had a brain tumor that needed to be removed immediately. As Jim outlines, not only did he find a hospital to care for him, he went to the hospital best known in Houston for brain surgeries. Only God could direct Jim's path this perfectly. After several days in the hospital, Jim returned to Ohio, and the Lord used that time to strengthen his faith and reinforce his purpose — to worship God and teach others to worship Him.https://share.transistor.fm/s/1646140c

In this episode of Transformative Principal, Jethro Jones engages in a profound discussion with Sean Slade, co-head of North America at BTS Spark, about reevaluating traditional perceptions of leadership, particularly around the management of emotions. Sean challenges the archetype of the stoic, emotionless leader, suggesting that vulnerability, emotion, and personal connection are crucial elements for effective leadership, especially highlighted by observations from the first year of the pandemic. The conversation delves into how leaders who embraced their humanity, admitting uncertainty and fostering relationships, tended to succeed more. Drawing on a study and the insights from the book Embracing MESSY Leadership, Sean emphasizes the critical role of emotions in building trust, cultivating teamwork, and enhancing problem-solving capacities. He argues for a shift from controlling to exercising and utilizing emotions as strategic tools in leadership. The podcast also touches on the practical aspects of having difficult conversations and the importance of authenticity, emotional intelligence, and self-awareness in leadership roles. Sean concludes by underscoring the evolving understanding of leadership as beyond a series of tasks, advocating for emotional adeptness as a key leadership skill.Maybe the emotionless leader is not quite correct. MESSY Leadership came out of the pandemicThe leaders who were able to make personal connections, build relationships and show vulnerability did quite well. Exercise your emotion rather than controlling your emotions.Admit uncertaintyPose questions back to teamHigh level of self-awareness and self-confidenceEveryone wants to feel like they matter and they want to belong. You are part of this community. Don't we want to be authentic ourselves?Get communication cards.Leadership as a series of tasks and duties. Making people feel happy on a surface level. What's putting you in the box?
