Did we celebrate Christmas with/ singularity, simplicity, and sincerity, focusing on our Savior? Let's evaluate how we did so we get it right.Long before we met Luke, we see in the First Books of the Bible, aka The Five Books of Moses, the essential need for credible witnesses to confirm God's Word and, therefore, God's will. The number one goal of the Bible is to discover what is and isn't true. Incredible witnesses, yes, but more than that, they are credible witnesses! • Deut. 19:15-16; Numbers 35:30; Matthew 18:15-16; John 8:12-18; Acts 10:35-43; II Cor. 13:11; I Tim. 5:17-19; I John 5:6-12; Rev. 11 - Two olive trees / Two lampstands Luke & Matthew confirm the Christmas Truth over and over again with credible witnesses - with character witnesses.I. The Two or More Witnesses of Christmas - 1. Zechariah & Elizabeth 2. Mary & Joseph - 3. Multiple Shepherds - 4. Multiple Magi - 5. Simeon & Anna - dealt with devotion, with death, “If a man dies will he live again?”; last week we ended the Lord's Supper with Matthew 26:29 (Jesus was emphatically saying to His disciples, “See you on the other side”)II. The Obedience of Faith of Mary & Joseph - 2:21-24III. The Witness/Testimony of Simeon - 2:25-34 1. The Credibility of Simeon (4) a. He was righteous, devout, and was waiting in the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him - 2. The Commitment of Simeon - “waiting for the consolation” - Reminds me of I Thess 1:8-10 3. The Conviction of Simeon - Holy Spirit revealed to him a. He would not see death until he saw the Lord's Christ - b. Like Jesus & Paul - Simeon wasn't afraid of death - Are you • John 14:1-3; 17:1-5: I Cor. 15 (no more sting in death); II Cor. 5:6-8; Phil. 1:21-24; II Tim. 4:6-8; Rev. 12:11 c. Simeon blesses God - v. 28 d. Simeon “blesses” them - vv. 34-35 4. The Commission w/in Simeon's Prophecy - One of the evidences of the Spirit speaking through Simeon is that he quotes the prophecy of Gentile inclusion “a light to the nations” (something Luke does frequently)(1) This Child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel - • Who fell? • Who rose?(2) And for a sign that is opposed -(3) (And a sword will pierce through your own soul also) - “so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed” • Some 30-plus years later Luke tells us of another heart that was pierced (Simeon didn't know this) and that is the heart of Jesus Himself • Triumphal Entry context for 2 passages depicting the rise and fall of Israel(1) Luke 19:37-48 - Jesus weeps over a nation, over a city, over the holy city (2) Matthew 21:33-46 (from Psalm 118; also quoted in Acts 4:11)From the Cradle to the Cross - We will meet Anna next week!

A Song of Ascents“The community prayer is strikingly similar to the longer Psalm 85…Verses 1-3 reflect upon a past deliverance, probably return from Babylonian captivity. Verses 4-6 plead for the further restoration from present problems” Miller, 405. “The psalm starts out like a thanksgiving song, celebrating the restoration of the community's fortunes, but the second part leads us to understand that it is lament of the community” Longman, 423. 126:1 When the LORD brought back the captive ones of Zion- The phrase brought back the captive ones might also be rendered ‘turned the captivity of' (cf. the KJV and NASB).This clause, with slight variations, is frequently used by the psalmists (14:7 and 53:6; 85:1; 126:1, 4) and the prophets (Jer. 29:14; 30:3, 18; 31:23; 32:44; 33:7, 11, 26; 48:47; 49:6, 39; Lam. 2:14;  Ezek. 16:53; 29:14; 39:25; Hos. 6:11; Joel 3:1; Amos 9:14; Zeph. 2:7; 3:20)” Miller, 405. Deut. 30:3; Job 42:10.126:2 And our tongue with joyful shouting- The word translated joyful shouting is used only 33 times in the OT and three are in this short Psalm- 126:2, 5, 6.126:3 The LORD has done great things for us- Notice the transition from for them in vs. 2 and for us in vs. 3.126:4 Restore our captivity, O LORD- “Verse 1 rejoices that Yahweh has ‘restored' His people and verse 4 petitions that He restore them yet more fully” Isaiah 62:6-7. “It seems odd that the psalmist would first state that the community's fortune had been restored and then ask God to restore their fortunes, as he does in this stanza. But one only has to remember the return from Babylonian captivity for an example of these two are in tension” Longman, 424. “The early rapture of Ezra 1-6 and the erosion of enthusiasm by the harsh facts of life illustrate this psalm” Motyer, 574.  126:4-6 “The two images of renewal (4b, 5-6) are not only striking; they are complementary. The first of them is all suddenness, a sheer gift from heaven; the second is slow and arduous, with man allotted a crucial part to play in it” Kidner, 439. The great things of verse 2 have become a day of small things (Zech. 4:10). Jesus and Psalm 126“Psalm 126 reminds us that that we live in the hope of God's help, always remembering what God has done in the past (vv.1-3) and always anticipating what God will do in the future (vv. 4-6; see Isaiah 43:19; 65:17; Rev. 21:5)” McCann, 1195. 126:1-2 “Surprised by joy, they were scarcely able to believe their eyes- it was all too good to be true (cf. Lk. 24:41; Acts 12:9)” Laymen, 689. John 16:20-22“Matching this is the other picture of revival, in terms of farming at its most heart-breaking: all its joys hard-won (cf. II Cor. 9:6) and long-awaited (Gal. 6:7-10; James 5:7f.)” Kidner, 440. “There will be songs of joy but only when the toilsome task of sowing has been done and the crop has matured for harvest. That is where we find ourselves in God's perfect plan of things (cf. Phil. 1:9-11; Jas. 5:7-8; Rev. 14:14-16)” Motyer, 574. John 12:23-24Matthew 5:4 God will comfort our mourning. “The early church was urged to turn away from suffering to glory, with a conviction that the God who had begun a good work could faithfully bring it to completion (II Cor. 4:17-18; Phil. 1:6; I Thess. 5:24).

GRATITUDE STARTS AT HOME Colossians 3:14-15    “And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of            perfectness.           And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are           called in one body; and be ye thankful.” Right before Paul speaks to the family in Col. 3:18-21, he calls on them to Love each other Let peace rule Learn to be Thankful   This passage in Colossians is a reflection of what Paul wrote to the Ephesians in Ephesians 5:20, “Giving Thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Which is followed by 5:22-6:4, Paul's “Hallmark” passage on marriage and family.) We can all look at the culture around us and recognize that entitlement and ungratefulness is rampant! There doesn't seem to be love and peace that Paul talks about in Col. 3. Is gratitude the key? Or A key? Our lives, our homes don't have to reflect the culture. We can have a “culture” of thankfulness in our homes, a place that fosters love and peace. 1.) Does gratitude matter? A.) Yes, because it is commanded and modeled in the Bible.   “give thanks”—71 verses “Thankful”—3 verses “thanksgiving”—27 verses.         (128 verses total) “thankfulness”—1 verse “thank”—26 verses   Psalm 30:12b, “…I will give thanks unto Thee for ever.” Psalm 100:4, “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.” Psalm 107:1, “O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever.” Psalm 147:7, “Sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God.”     *Jesus modeled thankfulness:   Matthew 15:36, “And He took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to His disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.” (Mark 8:6, John 6:11) Matthew 26:27, “And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to the them, saying, Drink ye all of it;” (Mark 14:23, Luke 22:17 and 19) Matthew 11:25, “…Jesus answered and said, I thank Thee, O Father, …” (Luke 10:21, John 11:41     *Paul regularly gave thanks to God and others:   I Cor. 15:57, “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” II Cor. 9:15, “Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift.” Eph. 1:6, “Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you  in my prayers.” Col. 1:3, “We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you.” I Thess. 3:9, “For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God.”     *And Paul (under Inspiration) gave commands to give thanks:   Eph. 5:4, “Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.” I Thess. 5:18, “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” I Timothy 2:1, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;”     *Love is mentioned in the Bible over 280 times…peace is mentioned 400 times! Thankfulness is mentioned several times right along with them. Maybe the love and peace we crave is only one “Thank you” away.*     B.) Yes, because it improves your health, attitude, and relationships. “The importance of this matter of gratitude can hardly be overstated. I've come to believe that few things are more becoming in a child of God than a grateful spirit. By the same token, there is probably nothing that makes a person more unattractive than the absence of a grateful spirit.” Choosing Gratitude, NDW, p23. Prov. 15:13, “A merry heart taketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.” Proverbs 15:15, “All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.” Prov. 17:22, “A merry heart doth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drouth the bones.” (“A grateful heart is a happy heart.”)   An article by MayoClinic, December of 2022, adds, “Gratitude should be practiced daily, just as you'd take a ‘magic pill,' if it existed.” They added that practicing gratitude could lessen chronic pain and the risk of disease.   Gratitude improves our countenance, perspective, and outlook, making us much easier to be around or live with.   Grumpy people  vs Happy people Prickly people vs Gentle people Irrational people vs Restful people On Edge people vs At Ease people (go with the flow) Negative people vs Positive people Doom and Gloom people vs Scriptural people Entitled people vs Grateful people It may be that your personality leans toward “glass half empty,” rather than “glass half full,” but a grateful heart will temper your emotions and allow your loved ones to enjoy you better.

Psalm 124The verses of the Psalm describe Israel's trouble- vs. 3-5- deliverance- vs. 1-2, 6b, 7- praise- vs. 6a, 8. The psalm shows us “how serious the threat was, and how little confidence David placed in his own power to survive it” Kidner, 436. 124:1 Had it not been the LORD who was on our side- 118:6; vs. 1-2 provide the protasis, the ifs clause to a conditional sentence, to the stanza and vs. 3-5 the apodosis, the then clause of the conditional sentence- Miller, 402. The word if actually begins both vss. 1 and 2 (Gen. 31:42; Deut. 32:37; I Sam. 25:34; II Kings 3:14; Psalm 94:17; 106:23; 119:92; 124:1, 2; Isaiah 1:9). Let Israel now say- 118:2-4; 129:1. This “indicates that this psalm aims to encourage the congregation to give voice to their gratitude” Broyles, 453. 124:2 Had it not been the LORD who was on our side- This psalm has “abundant use of incremental repetition” Alter, 443. “To dwell on what might have been is often an unrealistic, fruitless exercise. Here it is used to good effect” Laymen, 688. “His presence has protected Israel from destruction on many occasions” VanGemeren, 785.When men rose up against us- Ps. 2:1-3 124:3 Then they would have swallowed us alive- Swallowed is used in Num. 16:30; Ps. 55:15; Prov. 1:12; Isaiah 5:14; Jer. 51:34; Jonah 1:17. 124:4 Then the waters would have engulfed us- Verses 4-5 “are an especially effective use of the emphatic structure of incremental repetition. Verse 4 displays semantic parallelism with verbal repetition in its two halves (waters/ torrent, swept us us/ come up past our necks” Alter, 444. Psalms 18:4-5; 42:7; 69:1-2, 15; 88:3-7; Isaiah 8:7-8; 43:2; Lam. 3:54; Jonah 2:3, 5 124:5 Then the raging waters would have swept over our soul- Psalm 74:12-15; 89:9-10; 93:3-4 The LORD's sovereignty over the raging waters. 124:6 Who has not given us to be torn by their teeth- The enemy is compared to 3. “A hungry lion that would have seized them as prey (vs.6)” Willis, 64-65. 124:7 Our soul has escaped as a bird out of the snare of the trapper- Ps. 91:3 The snare is broken, and we have escaped- 119:110; 140:5 124:8 Our help is in the name of the LORD- Ps. 20:7 The name of the LORD in I Sam. 17:45; Ps. 118:10, 11, 12; Prov. 18:10.  Who made heaven and earth- 115:15; 121:2; 134:3; 146:6 I Peter 4:19 Psalm 124 and Jesus124:1 The LORD is for us- Romans 8:31-39.124:3 The word swallowed as used in the LXX is used in I Peter 5:8 of Satan going about as a roaring lion seeking who he can devour (or swallow, same word). Death and Satan may be great monsters seeking to swallow us, but Jesus swallows up death- I Cor. 15:54; II Cor. 5:4. 124:6 Blessed in the LXX is the same word used in Eph. 1:3; I Peter 1:3 which Blessed God for the great salvation He accomplished in Christ. 124:7 The word translated escaped in the LXX is used in Col. 1:13; I Thess. 1:10; II Tim. 4:17-18 to speak of salvation in Christ. 124:8 The word help is used in Hebrews 4:16 of how we seek help for Jesus. 124:8 The name of Jesus is the name on which we must call- Acts 2:21, 38; 4:12.124:8 Jesus is Maker of heaven and earth- John 1:1-3, 10.

Today's readings.. (2 Chronicles 29), (Daniel 9), (Acts 9) What a remarkable set of heart stirring readings we have today, accounts of individuals with whom and through whom God can and did work.  First, in 2 Chron. 29 we have the account of when the good king Hezekiah became king and his instant action beginning in the first month of his reign to restore the Temple and rededicate worship in it and how he inspired “all who were of a willing heart.” [v.31] to bring offerings, “and they sang praises with gladness and they bowed down and worshipped.” [v.30].  It is a chapter to be read with imagination of the event – that foreshadows –  a far greater future event . In Daniel ch. 9, the aged prophet is now living in the era of King Darius, he is deeply grieved as he “perceived in the books … according of the word of the LORD to Jeremiah “ [v.2] that 70 years must pass “before the end of the desolations of Jerusalem.”   Most of the chapter is his impassioned prayer, a great example for us, “O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him … To us, O LORD, belongs open shame, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you.   To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness…[v.4,8,9]  The angel Gabriel comes to him, “saying, “O Daniel, I have now come out to give you insight and understanding.  At the beginning of your pleas for mercy a word went out, and I have come to tell it to you, for you are greatly loved.” [v.22,23] What will the angels say to the ‘elect' as they gather them? How soon? When they (we) “meet the Lord in the air” [see I Thess, 4 v.17]   Our ‘feast' of thoughts continued in Acts 9 with the dramatic conversion of Saul – soon to be referred to as Paul.  His first action was to be baptised. His preaching then astonished the Jews. Immediately he proclaimed Jesus in the synagogues, saying, “He is the Son of God.”  Then Paul “increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving that Jesus was the Christ.”   [v.20-22]  And us. How, is our strength increasing? How zealous are we in “proving” the things which we claim to believe?  Surely Paul became “greatly loved” for his zeal and total commitment – and we must look at ourselves, look into our own hearts.  May the angels gather us because we “are greatly loved.”

The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible and God breathed, and therefore are the final authority for faith and life. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament are the complete and divine revelation of God to Man. The Scriptures shall be interpreted according to their normal grammatical historical meaning. The King James Version of the Bible shall be the official and only translation used by the church (2 Tim. 3:16-17).   We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each coeternal in being, co-identical in nature, coequal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections (Deut. 6:4).   We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men (Isa. 7:14; 9:6; Phil. 2:58).   We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through his death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice; and, that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead (Acts 2:1836; Rom. 3:2425; 1 Peter 2:24; Eph. 1:7; 1 Peter 1:35).   We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven, and is now exalted at the right hand of God, where, as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate (Acts 1:910; Heb. 9:24; 7:25; Rom. 8:34; 1 John 2:12).   We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins (John 1:12; Eph. 1:7; 2:810; 1 Pet. 1:1819).   We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God's power and are thus secure in Christ forever (John 6:3740; 10:2730; Rom. 8:1, 3839; 1 Cor. 1:48; 1 Pet. 1:45). By Mary Lindow through the Holy Spirit My heart aches and yes, even trembles a bit at the broad measure of deception that has had a huge increase in these difficult days. Spirits that imitate the voice of our Savior are cloaking themselves as Angels of light and also come masquerading as the Voice of the Holy Spirit in order to distract and lure believers away, slowly from sound convictions, godly warnings, and above all, THE still small Voice. The Bible tells us that deception; doctrines of demons, and false prophets will increase.  The Spirit  of God has spoken expressly that in the latter times some would depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons; speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron. It feels as if those days are upon us and though we might try to withdraw or hide, we cannot escape them; we must overcome in the midst of them, for this is the will of God concerning us. Strange as it may seem, the danger today is greater for the passionate Christian than for the lukewarm and the self-satisfied.    “THE SEEKER AFTER GOD'S BEST THINGS IS EAGER TO HEAR ANYONE WHO OFFERS A WAY BY WHICH HE CAN OBTAIN THEM.” ~A.W. Tozer The type of person Mr. Tozer is speaking about, longs for some new experience, some superior view of truth, some operation of the Spirit that will raise him or her above the dead level of religious bumpiness they see all around them, and for this reason these people are ready to lean a concerned ear towards the “new and the amazing” in faith, first and foremost if it is presented by someone with an attractive personality and a reputation for “enhanced” saintliness. HOWEVER, our Lord Jesus the great Shepherd of His sheep has not left His flock to the ruthlessness of the wolves. He has given us the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit and yes, the natural ability of common sense watching, and He expects us to apply ourselves to their help all the time.   "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good," said Paul. -I Thess. 5:21 "Beloved, believe not every spirit," wrote John, "but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world" -I John 4:1 "Beware of false prophets," our Lord warned, "which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." -Matt. 7:15   A TIME FOR DIRECTIONAL ADJUSTMENT We are in much need of a directional adjustment as believers in the Body of Christ right now as the world turns itself upside down with malice, dictatorships, and political posturing. We need to be certain that nothing of the world and its behaviors are hidden in our own hearts.  We must hear that magnetic pulling voice of the Holy Spirit, and obey it without turning left or right. ”So be careful to do what the LORD your God has commanded you;  do not turn aside to the right or to the left. “ -Deuteronomy 5:32   NOTHING THAT COMES FROM GOD WILL MINISTER TO OUR PRIDE OR SELF-CENTEREDNESS. N O T H I N G! If we are tempted to be conceited and to feel superior because we have had an incredible vision or a radical spiritual experience, or if we feel extraordinarily more well informed or gifted with educational pursuits and feel the need to inflict our “superior-ness” upon others, we should fall immediately to our knees and repent of the ugly and fleshly, self-serving thing! We have fallen and have been duped by the arrogant and self-deceived enemy of our souls, Lucifer. “For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world.” - 1 John 2:16   LOOKING FOR CONTINUAL SAFETY AND HELP? When we walk in the way of surrender and tenderness with our ears tuned in towards the frequency of the ”still small voice of God”, we actually walk in a safe haven or overshadowing safety of the Presence of God. Training our spiritual ears to hear the voice of the Father creates and provides a lifetime “guarantee” of knowing when the storms or troubles will arise as well as intense persecution. There is a promise for direction from a place of Divine Protection and direction whenever it's needed. ”Therefore my heart is glad  and my tongue rejoices; My body also will rest secure.” - Psalm 16:9   REST AND WAITING IS CRUCIAL The man or woman with an honest heart will find no difficulty here. It is the hardest thing the mind and body to do! Learning to rest and wait when the world is screaming at a fevered pitch, WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO NOW?   It is a hard learned yet reachable discipline if we will lean into it and ask for God's help.  Yes, only HE can train us in this discipline of rest and waiting. Our flesh will never give into it willingly.  Hear and then HEED the Voice of God calling you to enter into His rest. It is a place of pleasant minimalism and uncluttered guidelines. His Presence silences all of the noise of the day and noise of the Head. ANY REAL WORK OF GOD IN OUR HEART WILL TEND TO MAKE US UNABLE TO ENJOY WORLD'S FELLOWSHIP.   "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." -I John 2:15   It can be declared clearly, that any spirit that allows “give and take” with the world… ...Is a deceiving spirit.   GOD'S PRESENCE IS A PLACE OF SAFETY FOR THE WEARY Dear child of God! There is no judgment or shame there. It is a restful place of learning to take up an easy yoke and a light burden.  Perhaps right now…. as you read this…you might need to get away from music in headphones or speakers, away from the ring tones on your new awesome phone with all of those cool new apps, and enter into the safe haven of God. Lay down the weight of worry and frustration. The anger at life all bottled up in rage and gloom! All you need to take with you into the place of refuge is a willing and listening heart. Ready to trust the Divine Protector and Provider. May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, Even as we put our hope in you. -Psalm 33:22   PLEASE SIT BACK AND LISTEN TO THE FOLLOWING SPONTANEOUS SONG FROM THE SPIRIT OF GOD! IT WILL SING LIFE INTO YOUR WEARY SOUL!    CAPTAIN OF YOUR SOUL © Spontaneous Prophetic Song of The Lord   There is a river of life; there is a river that flows From the city of God, There is a river of life There is an ocean, Deep and wide and strong And there is a pathway, in the water wide and long   There is a Master, Captain, at the helm of life And there is Someone standing, Steering the course in the fog at night Even though the times that you can't see Me Even though the times that you can't hear Me I am the echo in the night   There is an ocean deep and wide And there is a river flowing by your side And even though the darkness might come Remember the promise I've given you I will guide you in the storms of life   Come with Me a while and see, that I am He The Captain at the helm Come and see that I have a course now set In the heavenly realms   There is a river, a place for you to flow There is a river, there is something more, For you to know   Let me take control, let Me drift your life away For in the darkness of night You can hear Me better say   I am the Captain of your soul And I am the Master of the storm Remember when you can't feel Remember when you can't set your sail Remember when there's no breezes Remember there is a voice that pleases   There is a river, there is an ocean There is a Captain at the helm   And though you might not see Me And though you might not feel Me I am still in the heavenly realm I am still in the heavenly helm   Captain of the sea Captain of the storm Come and rest with Me   Duplication and sharing of this writing is welcomed, as long as the complete message, Website, podcast link and information for Mary Lindow is included. An episode from Seneca Bible Baptist Church, a conservative, independent body of King James Bible believers located in Seneca Falls, New York.   We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the verbally and plenary inspired Word of God. 1:45). An episode from Seneca Bible Baptist Church, a conservative, independent body of King James Bible believers located in Seneca Falls, New York.   We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the verbally and plenary inspired Word of God. 3:1617; 2 Pet. 1:2021;).   We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—each coeternal in being, co-identical in nature, coequal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19: 2 Cor. 13:14; John 14:10, 26).   We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, in order  that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men (Isa. 7:14; 9:6; Luke 1:35; John 1:12, 14; 2 Cor. 5:19, 21; Gal. 4:45; Phil. 1:45). We believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God's Word, which, however, clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh (Rom. 13:1314; Gal. 5:13; Titus 2:1115)   We believe in that “blessed hope,” the personal, imminent return of Christ Who will rapture His Church prior to the seven year tribulation period. At the end of the Tribulation, Christ will personally and visibly return with His saints, to establish His earthly Messianic Kingdom which was promised to the nation of Israel (Ps. 89:34; Dan. 2:3145; Zech. 14:411; I Thess. 1:10; 1 Thess. 4;1318; Titus 2:13; Rev. 3:10; 19:1116; 20:16).   A message from Seneca Bible Baptist Church:   “We would love to have you visit!   “If you are looking for a church in the Seneca Falls, New York area that preaches the Truth from God's Word, reach out to us at any time. Things are out of our control. Circumstances do cause us grief and pain, tragedy does strike the good people as well as the bad. What can we do with our sorrow? We hope as Paul wrote in I Thess. 4:13 – “Do not grieve like the men who have no hope.” We can think that as a good Christian, we should not be grieving—as if being sad is un-Christ-like. Life IS hard, we'd be foolish not to embrace that fact, and the best way to get through grief is to grieve. But we grieve differently because we belong to God. How does a follower of Jesus grieve differently? With hope in God who knows what's ahead and loves us to the uttermost. We are to come to Him with our grief, we are to hold on tight, as we grieve, and we are to look for God's beauty and purpose amidst the ashes of pain. I want to add something here that maybe you can relate to: I hate to see my kids suffer – I like to run around and manipulate all their circumstances and their friends and their teachers – just so that my kids don't suffer pain – but God has something better in mind. He wants them to know Him through their pain. And that is far more beautiful and helpful than anything I can maneuver. They need to learn to know God personally; They need to learn for themselves that God's joy underlies their grief and the best way for them to learn it, is for their mother to get out of the way of the Holy Spirit.    (Of course, the Holy Spirit still needs my help with my husband . . . just kidding.) Joy comes from trusting and hoping in God Joy comes from communing and depending on God Joy comes from obedience and the main thing to obey is: "Love others as I have loved you." For the next three episodes of the podcast, we'll be chatting about homeschooling! This is a huge part of our lives, and it is something and Simeon and I are very passionate about. The goal of education is so much more than academic success. Our goal for the education of our children is to introduce them to God, allowing them to know God better. As they learn of Him, we learn about the world He created (science, history, literature) and the order He instilled in the world (math, languages, civics). Home is the ideal place to invest in this calling of discipleship and learning. Home is where we can lay the foundation of what real like looks like and how to accomplish real life skills. You do not have to homeschool to emphasize those things, but homeschooling does give margin for more time and opportunities to train. Simeon and I share our hearts, and why we believe that home education is the best choice for our family. If you are on the fence about school choices, or maybe you've never thought and prayed through the decision, we hope that this episode will give you some great conversation and prayer points!   Outline of biblical reasons why we have chosen home education (taken from the list in the the Clarkson's book) -Homeschooling allows the greatest opportunity for emphasizing the Word of God in a child's life  II Tim 3:16-17; Heb 4:12-13; I Thess 2:13   -Homeschooling allows the greatest opportunity for strategic discipleship influence in a child's life Luke 6:10; Matthew 28:18-20; Col 2:6-7; II Tim 2:2   -Homeschooling provides the best setting for dynamic learning through exposure to real-life experiences James 1:2-4; Proverbs   -Homeschooling provides the best setting for discovering and developing spiritual gifts and personal skills and talents I Pet 4:10-11; Col 3:17; II Tim 1:6-7   -Homeschooling is the best way to live out the biblical picture of walking with your children on God's path of life until they walk it on their own Proverbs 4:1-19; John 14:6; Eph 5:1-2   Scriptures Referenced: Deuteronomy 6:7-9 Mark 3:13-15 I Corinthians 11:1 II Timothy 1:5   Resources: Educating the Wholehearted Child by Clay & Sally Clarkson https://amzn.to/3DMy5Nb  General Order Four (discipleship podcast) https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/general-order-4-podcast/id1529928237  NHC Podcast: Parenting & Discipleship https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ep-38-parenting-and-discipleship/id1547126864?i=1000534090284    Follow my  journey by subscribing to this podcast.
