Chittenden County was once home to 28 movie theaters. Many small towns had their own community movie theater that acted as a hub for people to come together and enjoy the latest flick. Today, there are fewer than two dozen movie theaters left in the entire state. With the closing of Merrill's Roxy Cinema, it could be argued that we are witnessing the end of the movie theater era and all of the life experiences that accompany seeing movies with friends and neighbors. To talk about all of this, we're joined by Vermont Public producer Eric Ford and UVM film professor Sarah Nilsen. We'll also hear from Vermont International Film Festival Executive Director Steve MacQueen, and a married couple on a mission to see a movie in every theater in Vermont. Then, Vermont Edition producer Andrea Laurion takes us to Middlebury, where one man is determined to play the national anthem of every nationality represented at the college on the bells that ring out each day over the campus.
From partying in our late teens to becoming dads we talk about the good ole days and how we wouldn't change a thing if we were able to go back.

In 1970, the hit-making machine of the British Invasion band, The Dave Clark Five, disbanded. Lead guitarist Lenny Davidson left and was replaced by Alan Parker; Rick Huxley, bass & rhythm guitarist also left and was replaced by Eric Ford. Saxophonist Denis Payton left, but wasn't replaced. Dave Clark & lead vocalist remained, and the new four-man band was dubbed "Dave Clark & Friends,"and lasted from 1970 until 1973. One album was released, a mixture of cover songs & a few Clark/Smith originals. Here are eight tracks from that album:1. Right or Wrong (written by Dave Clark & Mike Smith)2. Won't You be My Lady? (written by Clark/Smith)3. Southern Man (Neil Young cover)4. Put A Little Love in Your Heart (Dusty Springfield cover)5. Sha Na Na Na (cover of Steam's "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye")6. Draggin' the Line (Tommy James cover)7. Bring It On Home To Me (Sam Cooke cover)8. Signs (Five Man Electric Band cover)

Eric Ford is a model, influencer and digital creator in NYC (and a dear friend). We've worked together on a few different projects in the past and he's so good at what he does. We begin with some backstory and what it was like for him going to an HBCU and being in the marching band. Then we talk about the need for equality in so many ways, mainly with and for Black and Brown influencers. He's very into fashion so we discuss a few reality shows and our underwear of choice. Okay, so I haven't talked about or thought of the power rangers in a very long time, but Eric is a super fan so I basically just have to ask why and that's a really fun convo. From there we talk about the fear of failure and how difficult it can be to overcome. We talk about the importance of morning routines and he shares his and it's quite unique. Then we wrap up with his personal perspective on the movie Moonlight and what it meant to him as a gay Black man. I love this episode. I love Eric and how honest he is.Shop now at hardlytomorrow.comHosted by @stevenboydwallace

Mark, Aaron and Eric Ford begin a month of horror with the micro-budget cult classic, Carnival of Souls. We talk about what makes this such an enduring classic that has held up over time, the bizarre story about how it was made, its influences and what it has influenced, and what type of artistic aims the filmmakers tried to reach. About the film: A young woman in a small Kansas town survives a drag race accident, then agrees to take a job as a church organist in Salt Lake City. En route, she is haunted by a bizarre apparition that compels her toward an abandoned lakeside pavilion. Made by industrial filmmakers on a small budget, the eerily effective B-movie classic Carnival of Souls was intended to have “the look of a Bergman and the feel of a Cocteau”—and, with its strikingly used locations and spooky organ score, it succeeds. Herk Harvey's macabre masterpiece gained a cult following on late-night television and continues to inspire filmmakers today.
