In Zeiten, in denen der gute alte Actionfilm in den Kinos eher rar gesät ist, verlangt der Actionfan nach mehr. Und der deutsche Autor Stefan Barth bietet uns genau das. Mehr Action. Stefan ist bekannt für seine Rondo-Reihe, seine beiden "Kriegsromane" (von denen einer von Netflix als Blood & Gold verfilmt worden ist) und diverse weitere Werke stammen aus Stefans Feder. Stefan ist aber auch der Kopf hinter Hollywood Kills - Tödlicher Ruhm. Ein Roman, der sich anfühlt, wie ein lupenreiner Tony Scott-Film. Und im 2025 folgte mit Hollywood Kills - Brennender Ruhm die von mir langersehnte Fortsetzung. Ballerina ist ein nicht sonderlich origineller, aber trotzdem ganz gut gemachter Action-Film ohne nennenswerte Story oder spannende Charaktere. In dieser Folge diskutieren wir die Änderungen zur Vorlage, die Inszenierung des Widerstands und die Frage: Wann ist Gewalt legitim – und wie viel Pathos verträgt ein Gründungsmythos?

K.O. (Netflix) | Generisch kommt nicht unbedingt vom Gähnen Generischer Titel? Check. Simpler Plot? Check. Ein Hauptdarsteller mit Ausstrahlung? Ebenfalls Check. Alles deutet darauf hin, dass am 6. Juni mit "K.O." ein durchaus vielversprechender französischer Actionfilm exklusiv bei Netflix gelandet ist, mit MMA-Fighter Ciryl Gane in der Hauptrolle. "Vielversprechend" bedeutet in diesem Fall allerdings nicht: kreative Story oder erzählerische Finesse – sondern: kompromissloses Fratzengeballer, das vor allem Genre-Fans auf ihre Kosten kommen lässt. Laut Johannes liefert der Film genau das. Stu hingegen bleibt skeptisch. "G20" versucht, ein politischer Thriller zu sein - und scheitert grandios daran, weil er lieber Explosionen zeigt als Argumente. Was als dramatisches Szenario rund um einen Terrorangriff auf den G20-Gipfel beginnt, kippt schnell in absurde Action à la Hollywood: bewaffnete Präsidentin, Faustkämpfe im Konferenzsaal, dramatische Zeitlupen - und das alles mit ernster Miene serviert.Viola Davis stemmt sich tapfer gegen das Chaos und bringt Präsenz in eine Rolle, die eigentlich Tiefe verdient hätte. Doch der Film hat kein Interesse an politischer Nuance. Statt diplomatischer Spannung gibt's Kugelhagel, statt Analyse patriotische Durchhalteparolen. Die G20-Staaten wirken wie Statisten in einem B-Movie mit A-Budget. Am Ende steht ein Werk, das Weltpolitik auf alberne Heldentaten reduziert und seine eigene Prämisse unter Explosionen und Pathos begräbt.
