Editors - William Hoy, ACE and Craig Alpert, ACE Superman editors William Hoy ACE and Craig Alpert ACE didn't need to be told there was a lot riding on this movie. Not only does it represent James Gunn's view on who Superman needs to be for modern movie-going audiences, it also kicks off Gunn's vision of the new DCU. From the first minute of the film, viewers encounter a Superman who bleeds and is grappling with not just his limitations, but also his sense of purpose. It's these complex layers that Bill and Craig balanced through their masterful editing. In James Gunn's new take on the most iconic character in the superhero realm, Superman must prove to the world that he is their protector and not a thread, after billionaire Lex Luthor enacts a plan to turn public opinion against him. Long before cities had garbage trucks and recycling centers, there were the rag-and-bone collectors—wandering figures with pushcarts, sacks, and sharp eyes trained on the gutters and alleys of the industrial world. These scavengers were among the earliest forms of organized waste management, turning trash into treasure in a time when nearly everything had some kind of second life. Though rarely respected in their time, these individuals were vital to the ecosystem of 18th- and 19th-century cities. Their work supplied raw materials to soap makers, glue manufacturers, paper mills, and even farmers. They lived on the fringes of society, but their role supported entire industries. In many families, rag-picking or bone collecting wasn't just a temporary job—it was a generational trade... Send us a topic!!!!Ever tried to name your top five movies of all time? The struggle is real, and in this episode, we attempt the impossible while digging into what makes certain films stick with us forever. Our journey begins with a brutally honest take on "Warfare," a film many critics crowned as this year's masterpiece. We break down why this supposedly tension-filled war drama left us completely underwhelmed, questioning whether every true story deserves the big-screen treatment. This sparks a larger conversation about what truly makes a cinematic experience memorable – is it emotional resonance, unexpected storytelling, or something else entirely? The conversation flows naturally into our own movie obsessions, from Sandra Bullock's underrated gem "Murder by Numbers" to beloved classics like "The Bone Collector" and "Cape Fear." We share those comfort films we'd watch on repeat (hello, "Dracula Untold" and "Train to Busan") and why certain actors like Ryan Gosling never quite hit "great" status despite solid performances. Our mutual appreciation for Daniel Craig's James Bond leads to a confession: his portrayal was so perfect that earlier Bond films now feel like pale imitations.Korean productions receive special attention as we celebrate shows like "Night Agent," "All of Us Are Dead," and "Hellbound," examining why international content often takes creative risks American productions shy away from. We even touch on the political implications of overseas filming and why certain countries produce consistently innovative entertainment.Want more recommendations? We've got them – from zombie outbreaks to fantasy worlds, from thrillers to underrated comedies. Drop us a comment with your own impossible top five movie list or tell us if you've watched "Eastbound and Down" yet. Because while we might not always talk movies on this podcast, when we do, we absolutely Talk That Shit.Support the show
If you're in it for the meat, the memories, and maybe a little mayhem, this one's for you. Chad's sharing the fire with Bone Collector's own Nick Mundt and Canadian outfitter John Prosak in an episode that hits deep and hunts hard. Nick opens up about life on the road 300 days a year and how chasing big game never gets old, even after decades in the grind. From his early days behind the camera to becoming one of hunting's most recognizable faces, Nick's passion is unmatched. The guys get into favorite wild game recipes, and get real about what gets sacrificed in the name of the hunt, and what's truly worth holding onto. And don't miss Johnny Prosak's absolutely unhinged Airbnb experience—it's the kind of story that'll make you think twice before clicking “Book Now.” Raw, unfiltered, and hilarious. Spéciale Denzel Washington avec Jacques Demange, auteur du livre "Denzel Washington, en toute(s) conscience(s)" (Carlotta). En 2020, The New York Times élisait Denzel Washington « meilleur acteur du XXIe siècle ». This has always been a film I have enjoyed with a great cast and a great story to keep you intrigued. I would also recommend the tv show if you get a chance to watch it, too bad it only lasted one season. This is such a great thriller from the 90s, so rent it or buy a copy online. Policewoman Amelia Donaghy (Angelina Jolie) is in hot pursuit of a serial murderer whose calling card is a small shard of bone extracted from each of his victims. Unable to decipher the cryptic clues the killer leaves behind at the scene of the crime, Amelia calls upon quadriplegic forensic criminology expert Lincoln Rhyme (Denzel Washington) to help. With Amelia acting as Rhyme's able-bodied go-between, the pair piece together disparate clues, hoping they will learn who the next victim is.The Bone Collector:
Travis "T-Bone" Turner, archery nut, Bone Collector, and all-around outstanding outdoorsman, is in the building. Chad and Travis dive into everything from the depth of hunting, how it's so much more than just pulling a trigger. It's about connecting with the wild, understanding the wind, the animals we chase, and yourself. They get into everything from talk bow setups and evolving techniques, and how T-Bone's entire life is still passionately wrapped around archery. He also shares what it's like traveling the country, doing events, living the lifestyle, and why Michael Waddell is one of the realest people out there. Listen in to hear the piece of advice Travis would give to young hunters who want to make a living in the outdoor game. This one's full draw. Don't miss it! European Gray wolves have recovered in the last decade and according to a study, they increased by 60% in 2022. The increase is especially impressive since in Europe wolves must share a largely human-dominated landscape. Also we hear about a type of caterpillar known as the ‘bone collector' has been discovered by researchers, which wears dead insect body parts to disguise itself from spiders. All to discuss with Dr Ruth Freeman Director of Research for Society For Research Ireland. With thanks to Repak.

FROM THE VAULT: today we're diving into one of the most haunting unsolved cases in American history: The West Mesa Murders. In 2009, a woman walking her dog in Albuquerque, New Mexico, made a shocking discovery - the remains of 11 women and an unborn child buried in the desert. The case, linked to a suspected serial killer known as the West Mesa Bone Collector, remains open to this day, with no arrests and more questions than answers. Who were the victims? What clues have investigators uncovered? And could the killer still be out there?
Fáilte ar ais chuig eagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo ar an 26ú lá de mí Feabhra, liomsa Lauren Ní Loingsigh. I 1981 dhiúltaigh tiománaithe ESB comhréiteach, agus mar sin de bhí imní ar dhaoine go mbeadh stailc ann. Shiúil a lán dóibh amach agus de bharr sin bhí gach rud curtha siar. I 1994 dhúisigh Amanda Kelly déanach agus de bharr sin bhí sí fós beo. Chaill sí amach ar an mbád farantóireachta, ach chuaigh a chara Tracey Moriarty ar an mbád agus chuaigh an bád faoi uisce agus fuair Tracey bás. I 2002 bhí an phictiúrlann I nDurlas ag taispeáint scannáin cosúil le Toy Story 2, Angela's Ashes agus The Bone Collector. I 2012 bhí CBS san Aonach Urmhumhan ag fáil réidh don Dr Harty Cup. Níor bhuaigh siad I 22 bhliain. Cúpla uair bhí an scoil an-chóngarach chun é a buachaint ach ag an deireadh theip siad. Sin Joe Dolce le Shaddup Your Face – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo I 1981. Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 1997 fuair scríbhneoir cheoil Ben Raleigh bás ina chistin nuair a chur sé a róba folctha trí thine nuair a bhí sé ag cócaireacht. Scríobh sé an t-amhrán 'Scooby Doo Where Are You.' I 2011 tháinig sé amach go raibh an t-amhrán We Will Rock You ó Queen an t-amhrán is mó a bhí ar siúil ag imeachtaí spórt. "Noyce-vember," our month-long tribute to journeyman director Phillip Noyce, concludes! So how did Noyce follow up the disappointment of 1997's The Saint (which we looked at last time), you ask? Simple - by recruiting one of Hollywood's biggest stars, Denzel Washington, teaming him with a young starlet on the brink of mega-stardom named Angelina Jolie, and putting them together in an adaptation of a recent hit crime-thriller novel. Sounds like a good plan, right? Except he ended up with another failed franchise starter! What's the deal?? Well, we're taking a look at The Bone Collector to see if it's a truly worthy entry in the "90s serial killer movie" canon, or just another tired Se7en wannabe. Just in time for Halloween, we're diving into a new thriller called "Fatal Intrusion." It's the first book in a new series by authors Jeffery Deaver and Isabella Maldonado. After a series of murders in Southern California, a Homeland Security agent needs the help of professor in catching a serial killer. Deaver is an international bestselling author who has written more than 40 books, including "The Bone Collector." Maldonado is also a Wall Street Journal bestselling author. She graduated from the FBI National Academy and was the first Latina to become a captain within the Fairfax County Police Department near Washington, D.C. Deaver and Maldonado talk about what it's like to co-write a book, how they worked together, and much more.
There's a serial killer around New York city going around murdering people in increasingly bizarre ways while also leaving increasingly minute details behind as clues. Denzel Washington plays the brilliant criminologist Lincoln Rhymes who has been paralyzed from the neck down but can still solve clues while bedridden and Angelina Jolie plays Amelia, a plucky young beat cop-former model with a natural eye for forensics and...yada yada yada...they team up to catch the killer. Directed by Phillip Noyce (Dead Calm, Clear and Present Danger, Sliver), this would end up be the last of SEVERAL thrillers released throughout the 1990's focusing on the hunt for a serial killer. And while it might not hold up to the best (The Silence of the Lambs, Se7en) within this subgenre, it IS somewhat elevated by a stacked cast lead by Denzel and Angelina, also including Ed O'Neil, Queen Latifah, Michael Rooker, Luis Guzman, and Leland Orser.Host & Editor: Geoff GershonProducer: Marlene GershonSend us a texthttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/

A podcast with an industry mogul Nick Mundt from Bone Collector. I first met Nick when he was hired as Bill Jordan's camera guy over 20 years ago. We were both in Montana for monster bucks 10. Nick was so damn funny and such a great hunter and guide. It was a pleasure knowing him before having a name for himself. Over the years he has carved his name into bowhunting history with all the great content as one of the triple threat Bone Collectors. I wanted to catch up with Nick following a TAC event and talk about old times and talk about broadheads with someone who knows how to stack them up!
Send Kris and Rob a Text Message! The Bone Collector and the Girls of the West Mesa: Unraveling a MysteryOn February 2, 2009, a woman walking her dog stumbled upon what appeared to be human bones protruding from the dry, dusty ground of the West Mesa. Law enforcement was quickly called to the scene, and what they found was a mass grave. Over the next few months, the remains of eleven women and a fetus were unearthed, all buried in shallow graves across a 92-acre area. The victims were identified as missing women, most of whom had been reported missing between 2003 and 2005.The VictimsThe women, many of whom were involved in drugs and prostitution, came from vulnerable backgrounds. Their lives had been marked by hardship, and their disappearances had often gone unnoticed or under-investigated. The youngest victim, Michelle Valdez, was only 22 and pregnant at the time of her death. The other victims ranged in age from 15 to 32. Each of these women had families who had been left in the dark, yearning for answers about their loved ones' fates. The InvestigationDespite the scale of the discovery, the investigation into the West Mesa murders has been fraught with difficulties. The sheer number of victims, combined with the passage of time and the transient nature of the victims' lifestyles, created a challenging puzzle for investigators. The burial site itself offered few clues, with no DNA evidence pointing directly to a suspect. One key figure in the investigation was Lorenzo Montoya, a local man with a history of violence against women. Montoya lived near the burial site and was killed in 2006 by a woman he had lured to his home. Despite the circumstantial evidence linking him to the crimes, Montoya's death left investigators without the means to definitively connect him to the West Mesa victims.Theories and SpeculationThe West Mesa Bone Collector case has spawned numerous theories and speculation. Some believe the killings were the work of a single, calculating serial killer, while others suggest the possibility of multiple perpetrators working in tandem. The involvement of human trafficking rings has also been proposed, given the victims' connections to prostitution. One compelling theory posits that the killer was familiar with the area and took advantage of the secluded, barren landscape to dispose of the bodies without attracting attention. The careful spacing and burial of the remains suggest a methodical approach, further supporting the idea of a serial offender. The Ongoing Quest for JusticeDespite the passage of time, the West Mesa Bone Collector case remains open, and law enforcement continues to seek new leads and information. Advances in forensic technology and renewed public interest offer hope that one day, the killer or killers will be brought to justice.sources used for this podcastSupport the Show.JOIN THE HITCHED 2 HOMICIDE IN-LAWS AND OUTLAWSSTART KRIS CALVERT'S BOOKS TODAY FOR FREEH2H WEBSITEH2H on TWITTERH2H on INSTA

In the subterfuge of this turbulent environment, a prolific monster operated right under the noses of law enforcement, preying on victims from the city's most vulnerable population demographic. On the 2nd of February, 2009, Christine Ross was walking her dog Rucca through the morning shadows of Paradise, her West Mesa subdivision community, when the hound caught a scent. Within a minute, he'd dug up a large bone and proudly presented it. Disturbed, Christine texted a picture of the fossil to her sister, who was a nurse. It looked like a human femur bone, her sister replied. Police investigators arrived on the scene and discovered the remains of multiple human bodies buried across 100 acres of barren land.Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/theserialkillerpodcastWebsite: https://www.theserialkillerpodcast.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/theskpodcastInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/serialkillerpodX: https://twitter.com/serialkillerpodSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/the-serial-killer-podcast.
