We're back to hump the pig - it's Monday and we're Bubbles Mushrooms! Just for fun, we're recording in the late afternoon so it's not a BMAD, but it ain't normal either. Luke has returned from vacation so we're recording for the first time in a while. First we hear about the Netherlands, Dutch pronunciation and Dutch meemaws. Turns out that Anne Frank doesn't live at the Anne Frank house anymore, we try some new Dutch treats, Katie got pink eye from crap in her eyes, Mark went ahead and ate the new plants that Jaclyn planted and barfed them up all over the couch, Edward has a rental property update, Jaclyn had a fun family visit with Gavin and we read a viewer mail from both Renee about Chuck Norris and Brian about Ed Grimley. This week's game time activity is all about the best places in the world. We go ahead and rate the best cities to live in. Guess how many are in the United States? Your Day Off @Hairdustry; A Podcast about the Hair Industry!
Byrd Mena... From a Basement in Waterbury to Stages Around the WorldByrd Mena (@byrdmena) is one of the most original minds in the hair industry. Venezuelan roots. Connecticut hustle. Third degree black belt. Call of Duty leaderboard legend. And a brand builder who figured out content creation, community, and global reach before most people knew those were even skills.Fair warning... this one was a blast. Venezuelan food debates, Chuck Norris jokes, a Chuck E. Cheese trauma story, and two guys who walked into the podcast couch as strangers and left as best friends. Plus a special cameo from fellow Venezuelan Alejandra Wolff Pickering (@ale_wlff) who crashed the couch, proved her cachapa credentials, and earned her stamp of approval from Byrd himself.Recorded live at the American Beauty Show in Chicago. Hosted by Corey Gray (@hairdustry), co-hosted by Geno Chapman (@genochapman). Part of our live series sponsored by Serious Business (seriousbusiness.net | January 16-18, 2027, New Orleans). The Origin StoryByrd grew up in Waterbury, Connecticut... the dirty waters... with a barber brother, a hairstylist sister, and a best friend with clippers. He started cutting hair at 13 in a basement with an orange extension cord running to the neighbor's outlet. No proper shop. No formal training. Just a kid who wanted in and friends willing to sit in the chair. From Call of Duty to Content CreatorBefore Sharp Fade, before the stages, before the 40 countries... there was a PlayStation 3 and a Call of Duty leaderboard obsession. Byrd taught himself content creation making YouTube gaming videos in 2007... before Google even bought the platform. That same creative muscle became the engine behind everything that followed.Building Sharp FadeIn 2015 Byrd launched Sharp Fade... a barbering media brand inspired by ESPN. He spotlighted independent artists, flew them around the world with no agency fees, and built a platform with millions of followers that changed how the industry thinks about branding. He did it all while staying faceless for two years... pure Banksy energy.Live Fashion Hair and Giving BackA show in the Canary Islands opened his eyes to a whole new level of creative possibility. Today he is a part owner of Live Fashion Hair, doing shows in Brazil, Las Vegas, and Brooklyn with Davines. Off the stage he helped rebuild a barbershop in the favelas of Brazil for a man who lost his daughter to a stray bullet and his shop to fire... surprising him on stage with the keys in front of 5,000 people. He has also collaborated with Disney and Pixar on the film Soul, runs an annual mentorship retreat, and gives free haircuts to the homeless through a mobile barber program. What You'll Learn in This EpisodeHow to build a brand before anyone is watching. Why authenticity closes million dollar deals better than any suit. The dopamine hack Byrd uses to help creatives grow. And the live idea Byrd and Corey cooked up on the couch that might just become the next big thing.Follow Byrd: @byrdmena on Instagram Special cameo: @ale_wlff on Instagram Co-host: @genochapman on Instagram Hosted by: @hairdustry on Instagram Learn more: Sharp Fade | Live Fashion HairSubscribe to Your Day Off wherever you listen. After a career filled with punching and kicking, Chuck Norris finally was taken down. We celebrate his career, while still remembering that he was not a perfect person, and that his politics were regretably FAR removed from our own. Still though, he brought us a lot of entertainment over the years, and at least one of the movies we chose for the podcast reminded us of just how entertaining he COULD be in the hands of the right director. We start off with the disappointing "Firewalker" from 1986. In an attempt to cash in on the success of movies like "Romancing the Stone" they team Chuck up with the legendary Louis Gossett Jr. and Melody Anderson. Despite his long career of true masterpieces, director J. Lee Thompson was probably NOT the right choice for this one. There were highlights but the movie relied on humor that largely fell flat and a budget that was insufficient to sell the idea of globetrotting adventurers. Our second movie REALLY blew us away, 1991's "The Hitman" directed by his brother Aaron Norris. This is a rough mob story with a standout performance by Michael Parks as the villain. By turns violent and then funny, with moments of humanity included for good measure, this is a real winner!Send us your thoughts on the show and recommendations for future episodes to flickersfrom@yahoo.com or flickersfrom@gmail.com. We talk about the Chuck Norris movie, Invasion U.S.A.
Chuck Norris is a legit action hero who first hit the scene in THE WAY OF THE DRAGON where he faced Bruce Lee in one of the most iconic fight scenes in the history or martial arts films. After a string of hit with A FORCE OF ONE, THE OCTAGON and AN EYE FOR AN EYE, he tried his hand at a horror film. In 1981's SILENT RAGE, Norris plays a familiar role as a sheriff in a small town trying to maintain order as an invincible psycho goes on a rampage. Dan & Manny welcome back longtime friend & Nostalgia Test Podcast all-star Steve Herrera to put The Delta Force (1986) & Sidekicks (1992) to the ultimate test—THE NOSTALGIA TEST! “I feel like we were fed a pack of fucking lies as kids.” -Manny Coelho In honor of Chuck Norris' life, the boys decided to do a double feature of his movies and, oh boy, not so sure if this was a good idea. The Delta Force & Sidekicks are examples of two very different parts of Chuck Norris' career, the mass explosions fighting stereotyped bad guys one-liners guns guns guns film and the “comedy” making fun of marginalized groups stereotyped characters weird sexual undertones one liners what is the plot movies. Sure, Dan & Manny could have done a really good movie of Chuck Norris' like Lone Wolf McQuade, but is that even good? Dan, Manny, & Steve try to figure out what these two movies are actually about, they wrestle with the fact that our collective nostalgia for the 80s and 90s is possibly clouding the social judgement of what's actually good from our childhoods, and Dan lays down the law about the Nostalgia content creator community. They also take down gym teachers, tell a funny story of actual quicksand at their high school in Mineola, and try to deal with the high amount of racism that these two movies seem to be able to pack in for some reason. Also, what they hell is The Delta Force even about? Is Sidekicks a mass hallucination, Joe Piscopo (that's all that needs to be said), and why is the dad character in Sidekicks one of the most useless characters in cinema history. The guys give major props to the late great Jonathan Brandis for acting his ass off and they name the true sidekick of Sidekicks. In this 200th episode, Joey takes fellow hosts Jack, Lynne, and Tomelex on a trip down memory lane with a collection of the most memorable moments of the last 100 episodes. Launched in the summer of 2022, the Seacoast Podcast has brought four years of inspiring stories, learning from others, and laughing together. Along the way, the four hosts discuss whether political correctness has robbed society of smile-inducing, healthy humor, and they reveal that Joey just discovered Chuck Norris jokes. They also question how transparent and open each of them are when it comes to sharing about their personal lives on air—including the limitations of their aging bodies. In the end, Joey shares his desire for the podcast to continue to do what it's always been meant to do: foster critical thinking about people instead of shallow judgements and divisiveness.Hosts: Tomelex Copeland | Jack Hoey III | Lynne Stroy | Joey Svendsen Seacoast Podcast is now on InstagramBe a Patron of the podcast We have a YouTube Channel for videos of all episodes since Jan. 2024. Estate planning often becomes far more difficult when families inherit assets tied to royalties, licensing rights and public image. Clear communication and preparation can make the difference between unity and conflict after a loved one passes away. In this episode of Celebrity Estates, Senior Editor David Lenok speaks with Scott Rahn, trust and estates litigator and founding partner of RMO LLP, about the estate of Chuck Norris and the planning considerations tied to celebrity wealth. Using Norris' reported $70 million estate as a framework, Scott explains why celebrity net worth figures often differ from the actual value of an estate, particularly when royalties, private companies and likeness rights are involved. David and Scott also explore the importance of family communication, the responsibilities that come with fiduciary roles, and why coordinated advisory teams can help reduce disputes after a death occurs. Their conversation highlights how preparation, flexibility and clear expectations can help families better manage both the emotional and financial realities of complex estates. Key takeaways: Why celebrity estate valuations often shift dramatically based on royalties, public image and timing How family expectations can create tension when emotional value differs from economic value Why heirs inheriting IP rights face responsibilities beyond simply receiving money or property How coordinated advisors and family communication can reduce disputes after a death occurs Why estate plans should allow flexibility as family structures and financial realities evolve Resources: Listen to Celebrity Estates on Wealth Management Subscribe and listen to Celebrity Estates on Apple Podcasts Subscribe and listen to Celebrity Estates on Spotify Trust and Estates Magazine Connect With David Lenok: david.lenok@informa.com Wealth Management LinkedIn: David Lenok LinkedIn: Informa LinkedIn: Wealth Management Connect With Scott Rahn: LinkedIn: Scott Rahn LinkedIn: RMO Lawyers Website: RMO Lawyers Email: rahns@rmolawyers.com About Our Guest: Los Angeles attorney Scott Rahn resolves contests, disputes, and litigation related to trusts, estates, and conservatorships, creating a welcome peace of mind for clients. What if the key to getting a criminal to confess was... a glowing, blinking skeleton in a dark room? Welcome back to WTF Wednesday, little skeletons! This week we're digging up one of our favorite weird-but-true stories that deserves a second listen. We kick things off in the roaring 1920s — a decade absolutely packed with infamous crimes. From the St. Valentine's Day Massacre and the unsolved Wall Street Bombing of 1920, to serial killer Albert Fish (aka the Brooklyn Vampire, the Gray Man) and the Black Sox scandal of 1921 — the '20s were wild. But the real star of today's episode? Helene Adelaide Shelby, a woman so fed up with retracted confessions that on August 16, 1927, she filed a patent for an "Apparatus for Obtaining Criminal Confessions and Photographically Recording Them." What was this apparatus, exactly? A small dark chamber. A hidden interrogator speaking through a megaphone. And a life-sized skeleton with glowing red blinking eyes designed to terrify suspects into confessing their deepest, darkest secrets.Yes. A crime skeleton. She patented a crime skeleton.Sadly, Helene's invention never made it off the drawing board — and the 1961 Supreme Court ruling on coerced confessions probably would have had something to say about it anyway. But we fully stan her energy. We wrap up the episode with 10 hilarious real cop stories pulled from Reddit — featuring horse semen, a stiletto heel where it absolutely should not be, a self-proclaimed "earth ninja," Chuck Norris, Big Macs, and the most relatable donut panic you'll ever hear.

This week, The Good, The Bad, and The Sequel heads back into the jungle for Missing in Action 2: The Beginning — the prequel/sequel packed with prison camp explosions, one-man-army heroics, and peak Cannon Films energy. And yes… this was Jamie's Hall Pass pick, so you already know we're in for over-the-top '80s action insanity.Serving as a prequel to the original, Missing in Action 2 doubles down on everything you'd want from a Chuck Norris action movie: impossible escapes, evil villains, endless explosions, and enough slow-motion stares to power an entire franchise. We dig into everything, including:
One Man Army, Zero Armadillos: The Invasion U.S.A. SituationWelcome to this episode of The Most Excellent 80s Movies Show. Hosts Krissy Lenz and Nathan Blackwell are joined by special guests Francis Zagarigo and Jenna Jacobsen of the Very Fine Friends podcast to take on Invasion U.S.A. (1985) — the Chuck Norris one-man-army spectacular that Nathan has been lobbying to cover for years. The big question the crew keeps circling: is this a movie, or is it a spectacle? Because there's a difference, and Invasion U.S.A. lands firmly in one of those camps. The conversation digs into what happens when a studio decides the solution to a too-long cut is to remove everything that isn't an explosion — including, heartbreakingly, any resolution involving a pet armadillo. What's left is something the hosts describe as witnessing a chaotic family at a carnival, and somehow that becomes the episode's most affectionate note.Francis and Jenna bring fresh eyes and genuine Chuck Norris confusion to the table, which gives the rewatch crowd something to play off of. Whether you know the Norris filmography cold or only recognize him from over someone else's shoulder, the dynamic here keeps things lively — and surprisingly warm. This one stays at premise level throughout, so you can tune in knowing nothing.TruStory FM | Membership (early, ad-free access + bonus content): Join | Socials: Facebook | Instagram | Bluesky | Learn more about the hosts: Neighborhood Comedy Theatre | Squishy StudiosIf you had to defend the United States single-handedly, what 1985 action-movie weapon would you choose and why? ---Learn more about supporting this podcast by becoming a member. Firewalker, another of Chuck Norris' many collaborations with Cannon Films, is exactly what you'd expect from a low budget Indiana Jones ripoff. The script is bad, the plot is ludicrous, and we never even get to see what the bad guy intends to do with his desired magical abilities. Despite all that, Firewalker does have its charms—most of which lie heavily on the back of Louis Gossett Jr. Predictably, in a film with Norris as its lead, emotive acting is in short supply. Without Gossett as his sidekick, Leo, and John Rhys-Davies doing a bizarre Foghorn Leghorn accent, this movie would've been quite the slog. Life doesn't hit you when you're ready — it hits you when you're exposed. That's why this episode goes straight at the truth most people avoid: If you only train from a position of strength, you're lying to yourself. Tim and Steve break down how real martial arts — and real life — are won from disadvantage. Not when you're comfortable. Not when you're in control. But when you're behind, off-balance, and forced to think instead of react. This isn't theory. It's a reality-based approach to problem-solving under pressure. They dive into: Why training from weakness builds actual confidence — not fake toughness The dangerous trap of the "victim mindset" (and how it quietly kills growth) The mindset shift that separates people who adapt vs people who collapse Letting pressure work for you — using patience, timing, and strategy instead of panic Drawing from fight philosophy and real-world experience, Tim and Steve highlight how greats like Muhammad Ali didn't just rely on power — they relied on patience, letting opponents burn themselves out before striking with precision. They also unpack a powerful lesson from Chuck Norris — at the top of his game, he still chose to become a beginner again, training with the Machado family. Why? Because mastery isn't a destination. It's a decision to keep evolving. This episode hits hard on one core truth: You don't rise to the level of your expectations — you fall to the level of your training. So the question is: Are you training for comfort or for reality? If you want resilience, you better start solving problems when it's inconvenient.
Step into the dojo of ‘90s nostalgia as All2ReelToo's So Bad They're Good series kicks into high gear with a look at Sidekicks (1992)! This cult classic follows Barry Gabrewski, a bullied teen with a wild imagination and one ultimate dream—to become the sidekick to martial arts legend Chuck Norris. When fantasy starts to collide with reality, Barry takes matters into his own hands, training in martial arts to find confidence, courage, and maybe even his own spotlight. Starring Jonathan Brandis, Beau Bridges, Mako, Joe Piscopo, and Danica McKellar—with Chuck Norris playing himself—this episode dives into the film's blend of fantasy sequences, heartfelt moments, and gloriously cheesy action. Is it inspiring? Is it ridiculous? Is it both? We break down everything that makes Sidekicks a perfectly imperfect gem in the “so bad it's good” hall of fame. #All2ReelToo #SoBadItsGood #Sidekicks1992 #ChuckNorris #90sMovies #CultClassics #MartialArtsMovies #MoviePodcast #FilmReview #Nostalgia #BadMoviesGoodFun Listen now: all2reeltoo.com

Did you ever wonder what Chuck Norris would do in a slasher film? Well wonder no more as we explore that scenario in 1982's Silent Rage! Now, if you guessed a romantic montage of love making you'd be correct! Of course, he would also roundhouse kick his way through a bar full of bikers…honestly this one takes us in several unexpected directions, but ultimately puts us on the course of an irresistible force meeting an immovable object. Blazers, boobs, and beast be damned! Chuck Norris is handing out ass whoopings to anybody that needs one! Don't just watch Action, B-Action!!!
Layne, Clinton, and Jon find themselves in the dark of a bizarre zombie-ish story in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures 27 from Archie Comics! Then they look at a story from Kevin Eastman, Mark Bodé, Bruce Lee, and Chuck Norris in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 18 from Mirage!
Horror! Medo! Guerra! Explosão! Bigode!
This week, The Good, The Bad, and The Sequel tackles Critters 3, the third entry in the cult creature-feature franchise — and yes, this is the one with a very young Leonardo DiCaprio.Trading the small-town setting for a rundown apartment building, Critters 3 goes full low-budget sequel mode with greedy landlords, weird tenants, and furry alien monsters causing total chaos. We dig into everything, including:
This week, we bust our Chuck cherries on air with 1985's Invasion U.S.A. Terrorists don't get killed by Chuck Norris. They kill themselves when they know that Chuck Norris is coming for them! Russians are the big bad, just like in real life today! USA! USA! USA!Naughty, nut-knocking nemesis napalms Norris' nest, Norris nullifies with knuckle sandwiches, nasty nomadic NORAD network, and never not negotiating. Shaking the rust off of Rostov, the cock shooter! Episodic, chaotic, and downright idiotic! Gliding through the bayou! Oily reflections on the flesh! Farm to table gator dogs! Shrink wrap face chocolate?! Breaching the bayou abode! Multiple swamp gliders bombarding the bungalow, putting bullets in the backwoods bestie! Vodka by piss proxy! Little bitch unit biker gang! This one has been a long time coming. Sidekicks is one of those movies that I have been in love with for a long time, and I am thrilled that we were able to watch it at the cabin this year. We didn't know at the time that we would lose Chuck Norris shortly after recording. This was definitely his mountain top. Enjoy!

The impossible has finally come to pass. Star Citizen has been release in full, fully realized. It's sweeping awards in every category and Netflix has already paid the studio one billion dollars to adapt it to streaming. Or maybe Chuck Norris has passed and rather suddenly. Which at least prompted a resurgence of old internet memes. To that effect though, we have Code of Silence(1985). Chuck Norris is a cop and he does cop things. This means doing raids and beating up nameless henchmen. A rich girl gets kidnapped by a cartel in response to the successful raids, there's a cover up by a cop that shot someone, and also … Continue reading "Popcorn Pulse 262: Silence of War"

Al reflects on the loss of Chuck Norris, which sparks a nostalgic look at larger-than-life tough guys and leads straight into reminiscing about Phil's hardest-hitting, most unbelievable moments, including jaw-dropping procedures without anesthesia. The guys wrestle with the spiritual reality behind good and evil, and what Jesus truly accomplished through his resurrection, emphasizing that love, not punishment, is at the center of the Gospel and that real strength is found in being ready for what comes after this life. We remember martial arts champion turned Hollywood action hero Chuck Norris, who died last week at age 86. In addition to his many kung fu and action films, he was the star of the long-running TV show, ‘Walker, Texas Ranger.' He spoke with Terry Gross in 1988 about the karate he learned while stationed in Korea. Also, we remember Tex-Mex musician Augie Meyers of the Texas Tornadoes, who died March 7 at age 85. His signature sound was created on the vox organ, an instrument made in Britain. When he went to England in the ‘60s he got a call at his hotel. “George Harrison and John Lennon called the hotel and wanted me to come to the studio because they wanted to see how they had a vox organ but they couldn't get the sound I had out of mine,” he told Terry Gross in 1990. Justin Chang reviews the film ‘Miroirs No. 3' and David Bianculli reviews ‘Marshals' and ‘The Madison.'
