About 7 years ago, back in 2014, Forest Seal and myself did a bunch of episodes discussing various themes in Japanese history, and one episode that was never finished was this episode on the Sengoku Daimyo. The battery died while recording, and the reason we never revisited it was that it ended up more as a lecture, and we decided that a lecture format was not a format that we wanted to pursue. So we never moved forward with it, eventually forgot to redo the episode, and at that point it was transferred from old computer to new computer over the years in a random folder until I found it last week. Although the episode is incomplete, it is still a solid 35 minutes of introductory information on the Sengoku Daimyo. Also, because this is a long past episode, I did far less editing than I would normally, so I did leave in a lot of side discussion that I would normally remove. I thought it worked as a historical archive of something that we did a long time ago. So, enjoy this throwback episode to 2014. By the mid-1550's, Mori Motonari had expanded and consolidated his power base considerably. But with the Ouchi, Otomo, and Amako threats ever present, it was only a matter of time before the Mori clan would be thrust into an all out war for the West. Early in the Sengoku period in 1523, Mori Motonari became the unexpected head of a scrappy little warrior house in Aki province, caught between two powerful warring clans. Motonari would eventually parlay his small holdings into one of the most powerful Samurai families in all of Western Japan. This is the story of his rise to power. This episode we continue our discussion of the Edo-period concept of "Sankin Kotai" - Daimyo alternate attendance. The system of Sankin Kotai developed by the Tokugawa Shogunate required that Daimyo reside in the Tokugawa castle at Edo for periods of time, alternating with residence at the daimyo's own castle. It's a key component to understanding the Edo period, so we break it down for you. Support the podcast on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/samuraiarchives Shopping on Amazon.com? We Have A Problem When Dealing With Information! We tend to like to stick to our bubbles or only ask when required if not we'll simply copy or follow or like or love! As seen in the boom of the Instagram celebrities and Youtubers whom do exercises that can be simply replicated a thousand times over. But there is a missing area that is rarely touched upon which is to deal with educating the mass public about how to really deal with problems in exercise, diets, nutrition and basic functional based movements.Very often, we like to stick to what is COOL or HIP in the industry. Often, the more POPS or DOPE it is in the industry. The more you see people gravitating toward it. Not knowing fully what it is really about. For one, everything we see in the industry of fitness now is either stuck of the AESTHETICS or to have SWEAT!It is almost madness to believe that by simply looking good and having a sweat that you are essentially a much healthier person! That assumption alone needs to be smashed because it isn't!INSTAGRAMThe Posture Lab - https://www.instagram.com/theposturelab.sg/Beatrice - https://www.instagram.com/physiotherabeat/Rachel - https://www.instagram.com/raaachlau/Jeremy - https://www.instagram.com/jeremy_ska/Cheryl - https://www.instagram.com/cheryl_chinzyyy/Shermaine - https://www.instagram.com/prettypotpourri/Kai - https://www.instagram.com/kai.yoga/Emile - https://www.instagram.com/emiledumont/FACEBOOKFB Page - https://www.facebook.com/theposturelab.sg/FB Podcast Group - http://bit.ly/FitnessUnpluggedEMAILFor business enquiries, email us directly at emile@theposturelab.sgVISIT OUR WEBSITE http://theposturelab.sg/ADDRESS63 Kampong Bahru Rd#02-01Singapore 169369Disclaimer: All content were recorded, edited and produced by The Posture Lab. Justin Dodson, native of Memphis,TN. He attended UT Chattanooga where he received his Bachelors degree in Psychology. He then obtained a Masters in Professional Counseling at Lipscomb University in Nashville. He was the first black male to obtain a Masters in counseling from Lipscomb. He started working on his doctorate in 2015 at University of Memphis in Counselor Education and Supervision while still working full time. He’s been in that program year round since 2015 and now in his final year working on dissertation. Justin grew up with an older brother, mother, and father until he passed the day before my 10th birthday which definitely changed the trajectory of my life. I believe that counseling is how he can live out his purpose in life to aid others. He was bullied growing up and struggled with race identity until he was racially profiled by the police in 2013 which served as a wake up call. He loves being a therapist and digging deep with clients and enjoys educating others specifically the black community about mental health.
