1. Do you believe there's still some untapped upside with Ashton Jeanty as a receiving weapon out of the backfield?2. Do you think Omarion Hampton is a special talent worthy of a top-20 selection?3. If you were the GM of a team that needed ANY kind of RB, and you were forced to choose between Treveyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins, who would be your pick and why? 4. Do you believe Kaleb Johnson has the requisite fundamentals of playing RB (most notably vision and footwork) to succeed at the NFL level despite his lack of explosiveness?5. Do you think Dylan Sampson has the goods to play on all three downs at the NFL level?6. Do you think Cam Skattebo deserves to be selected in Rounds 2-3, and if he doesn't hear his name called on Day 2, would you expect him to outplay his draft position?7. You set up an assumption, you have a theory, you analyze your data, and you show that the assumption does not hold. Doing good qualitative research is that simple. Except that it's not, of course. On the ground, in the research and writing process, these basic rules can be quite tricky to implement. So we discuss some heuristics researchers can use to limit their conversants, settle on suitable theoretical lenses to examine their data, and collecting more data than what they thought was necessary. In this episode of the Gold & Blue Breakdown, after recapping WVU football's loss to Iowa State, Couz and Jonathan will preview the Mountaineers' upcoming game against the Kansas State Wildcats. They will give their three keys to victory for WVU, will take a look at key position battles and a key player to watch for Neal Brown's West Virginia team. Sophomore phenom Avery Johnson leads K-State into Morgantown, WV to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers this Saturday, October 19 in what will be a 7:30pm EDT kickoff on FOX. Johnson, who has thrown for over 1,100 yards and ran for over 300 in just six games, will look to his backfield mate D.J. Giddens to help lead the Wildcats to victory. Giddens has rushed for 786 yards so far on the season and is averaging 7.3 yards per carry. Brendan Mott, who leads the Big 12 with 6.5 sacks, will lead Coach Chris Klieman's KSU defense into Morgantown. WVU will be led by senior quarterback Garrett Greene, who has similar stats to Johnson. Greene has thrown for over 1,200 yards and ran for nearly 400. Can Greene and running back tandem C.J. Donaldson and Jaheim White carry the Mountaineers to victory? Couz and Jonathan will give you their opinion at the end of the show. Defensively, West Virginia will be led by linebacker Josiah Trotter, who leads the team with 46 total tackles, to go along with an interception. #wvufootball #big12football #kstatefootball Sponsor: https://www.katzkantor.com⭐️
In this episode of Devy Diamonds with SC Romero, he looks at Kansas State Running Back, DJ Giddens. Devy Diamonds is a captivating series by SC Romero that delves into the world of college football players who have the potential to become relevant in fantasy football leagues and eventually make an impact in the NFL. The term “devy” stands for “developmental,” it refers to a unique format where players are drafted from college teams and their progress is closely monitored until they transition to the professional level. Unlike traditional dynasty leagues, where drafted players immediately start scoring points, devy leagues allow fantasy managers to track the development of these young talents even before they enter the NFL. In the Devy Diamonds series, SC Romero likely profiles standout college players with the skills, athleticism, and potential to thrive in the NFL. These athletes could be future stars, and their performances in college serve as indicators of their fantasy relevance down the line. Whether it's a wide receiver with explosive speed, a running back with elusive moves, or a quarterback with pinpoint accuracy, the series aims to highlight players who could soon grace fantasy football rosters and impact the game at the highest level. For fantasy football enthusiasts, Devy Diamonds provides valuable insights into upcoming classes of college prospects. By understanding the strengths and weaknesses of these players early on, fantasy managers can strategize for their dynasty leagues, anticipate future rookie drafts, and make informed decisions about roster construction. Whether you're a seasoned devy player or just curious about the next wave of NFL talent, this series offers a fascinating glimpse into the future stars of fantasy football. In this episode, Eric Hsu and Louis Everuss do their best to have a reflexive discussion about a highly influential sociological account of the contemporary modern world: Anthony Giddens's idea of reflexive modernization, as captured in his work, The Consequences of Modernity. Eric somehow manages to use his bad Trump impression to promote the field of sociology, while Louis tries to keep the conversation more on track by ruminating on Giddens's point that modernity leaves us with more questions than answers. The last time I had the privilege of interviewing Rhiannon Giddens it was in 2017 at Edmonton Folk Fest. In the next five years, she became a World star. For example: In October 2017, Giddens was named one of the 2017 class of MacArthur "Genius" Fellows. In 2017 and 2018, Giddens appeared in the fifth and sixth seasons of the CMT's In January 2018, Giddens co-produced Songs of Our Native Daughters for Smithsonian Folkways. in early 2018, the Nashville Ballet announced that Rhiannon Giddens has been commissioned to write the music for Lucy Negro, Redux. In 2019, Giddens released two studio albums: Songs of Our Native Daughters and There Is No Other with Italian musician Francesco Turrisi Giddens earned an Honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for her lasting impact on the UNCG community and her work in music. In 2023, she was awarded an honorary Doctor of Music from Princeton University In other words, the last 5-6 years have been a delightful blur. Thus my first question was …what do you remember of the last 5 years? If anyone is going to change music in her lifetime – it's Rhiannon Giddens!! Enjoy.

If you work in sustainable investing, you probably already know the ‘Bridges Spectrum of Capital'. I discovered and loved it when I was researching my book on Sustainable Residential Investing, so I was especially excited to chat with Michele Giddens OBE, Co-CEO of Bridges Fund Management, which she Co-Founded alongside Philip Newborough and Sir Ronald Cohen - who gets described as "the father of British venture capital". Michele has 30 years experience in sustainable investing and international development finance, from chairing the Community Development Finance Association, the UK National Advisory Board on Impact Investing, and a Global Working Group on Policy for the G7 Impact Investment Taskforce to running pioneer Bridges Fund Management. So she is the perfect guest to talk about sustainable investing, pioneering new strategies and making financial and social returns from retrofit. We covered: The thesis behind Bridges and the Spectrum of Capital which ‘went a bit viral' ! How to pioneer: what we can learn from prolific pioneers about the process of bringing innovative ideas to market, for example carbon optioneering How to create attractive financial returns alongside social and environmental impacts in Article 9 funds Example investments such as retrofitting an old vinyl factory with cross-laminated timber to the material health benefits for residents from assisted living schemes Guest website: https://www.bridgesfundmanagement.com/ Guest LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michele-giddens-ab6b63145/ Host LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/annaclareharper/ Host website: https://www.greenresi.com/
By the standards of any musician, Rhiannon Giddens has taken a twisting and complex path. She was trained as an operatic soprano at the prestigious Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and then fell almost by chance into the study of American folk music and took up the banjo. With like-minded musicians, she founded the influential Carolina Chocolate Drops, which focussed on reviving the repertoire of Black Southern string bands. Giddens plays on Beyoncé's new country album, which boldly asserts the Black presence in country music. But her view of Black music is unbounded by genre: “There's been Black people singing opera and writing classical music forever.” Giddens shared a Pulitzer Prize for the opera “Omar” in 2023, and as a solo artist, she has moved through the Black diaspora and beyond it. David Remnick talked with Giddens when her album “There Is No Other,” recorded in Dublin, had just come out, and she performed in the studio with her collaborator, Francesco Turrisi. This segment originally aired May 3, 2019.

ALL THE WAY FROM GHANA!!! 5 YEARS ANNIVERSARY SERIES Check out our previous conversation titled, Follow Your Heart (episode 102). Kenric Brooks is always asked, when did you start traveling? Well, I can say that I always remember traveling. We would always travel to the family farm on the weekends or the beach every summer. I joined the boy scouts; we also traveled to different campsites and states. Some of my fondest memories as a child were at places I have traveled. There were terrific memories from outdoor activities to beaches. My love for travel continued throughout my military career. I lived in Germany for over three years. While there, I took a trip to Pairs, Netherlands, and more. Driving along the countryside, beautiful green fields and vineyards in the distance France and many places in Europe is where my love for travel and food flourished. In 2018, after retiring from the military and working in the private sector for two years. I suffered a mental break. I was in search of myself. Within the last seven years, I experienced several significant life-changing events. It was then that I turned back to travel. In 2018 I started my journey to travel to all 206 countries and territories. And like everyone, 2020 happened. 2020 helped me realize the genuine connection we have to each other and the need to feed that connection with family, friends, and experiences. I'm more determined than ever to see this journey, though. I am on a long and challenging process of personal change and development. I travel through unfamiliar countries to learn about or familiarize myself with the culture and share the experience with others. I intend to connect with the people who have been dispersed from their original homeland to understand the connection with the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of the particular nation.
