Hi, listen to the episode. You will laugh. Hopefully. Did you know that Feudal Japan was a period of history in Japanese? Many people think that "feudal" is the same thing as "futile"; it is, in fact, not even remotely close to the same. Feudal Japan refers to a period in Japanese history, roughly the 12th to 19th century. This is when the government was largely run by a system of military rule and land-based hierarchy similar to medieval Europe. There was an Emperor who really had no power and acted mainly as a figurehead, a Shogun, who had most of the military and political power, and the Daimyo, who were rich landlords, who were powerful enough to have their own armies. This was the time of Samurai, Shinobi(basically ninjas), and all the other crazy stereotypical Japanese things we see from movies and TV. This period lasted from around 1185 to 1868 and really only lasted because Japan was so closed off from the rest of the world. The end came about because the emperor regained power and then opened Japan up to the rest of the world. Also, crazy that around 60 years later, they wanted to kill everyone, or mostly everyone at least. HAHA!! Thank you for reading!! Oh, and listening, but that's secondary. Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/notabenemovies. This week Erin, Brennan, and Matt review the very-short "Book of Boba Fett" season while trapped inside a bacta tank. We hate the Mods, love the Tuskens, and wish Mando 2.5 was not attached to this holo-transmission. Brennan rages at the improper use of the name "Daimyo," Erin expresses her deep and undying love for the rancor (bite marks included), and Matt is now our resident Gamorean butt watcher. "That's just a real guy's butt painted green!" Overall, this season could have been better, but someone at Disney lacked the faith. All the same, we got some N1 pr0n and Danny Trejo, and in that light we feel pretty good.
As fennec brings back the assassin that she captured, the door opened like it did for Luke in return of the Jedi. We find out the assassin is part of a night wind clan, who are high level assassins who were in power under the hutts. They're gun for hires. After being fooled into thinking he would be eaten by a Rancor, he gives it up that the Mayor sent him to kill Boba. Boba and Fennec travel to Mos Espa and barge into the Mayor's quarters, where the assassin is killed, as the Mayor says he can't operate outside of Hutt space, and since the Hutt's don't rule Tatooine anymore, this is an illegal act, shooting him. The Mayor, an ithorian species, and who's name is mok shaiz, assures Boba that he has no motive to kill him, so it wasn't him. Boba asserts his position as Daimyo and that the Mayor only continues to live because he wills it. The Mayor's mok shaiz, tribute is advice, that running a family is more difficult than being a bounty hunter. I think what he means by this is that being a crime lord is more difficult than bounty hunting. He sends him to Garza's sanctuary, and when Boba gets there, he finds out from Madame Garza that the Hutt's have reclaimed Tatooine. The cousins of Jabba, twins. Boba doesn't believe it. As we hear drums and the nearing of the Hutt twins, everyone including max Reebok and his band stop in their tracks. As the twins arrive, carried by wee quays, they tell boba that Tatooine is now theirs. Boba doesn't care, and stands his ground, then the hutts laugh and black krrsantan walks up to stare boba down. Black Krrsantan is the most vicious wookie known to the galaxy. He's a feared bounty hunter and much more dangerous than Boba Fett, physically. Trandoshans and Wookies have a long rivalry with each other, and so it makes me wonder if Boba will team up with Bossk sometime in the show to fight Black Krrsantan. I'll make a few videos on Black all by himself, as he's a monster and has had run ins with Vader, Obi-Wan, and more. As Boba heads back to his bacta, the rest of the episode is his flashback during return of the Jedi and it's really the most beautiful bit of Star Wars I've seen. It was so heartfelt, mystic, heroic, and moving. Boba is training with the gaffi stick as the tusken is teaching him. Proper training scene, I love seeing the progression happen. I think the tusken he's learning from is a woman, and he might develop a relationship with, perhaps she dies in a fight later on and Boba goes berserk or something. The tuskers are ambushed by a speeding train that shoots at them. These are the pyke syndicate, they were prominent in the clone wars for selling spice. Spice was a drug that sold for a lot of money, and it was mined in corelliia. Boba realizes how he can take the train down, as that night he sees those weequays riding on speeders through the desert, the same ones collecting the water from the moisture farmers in book of Boba Fett episode 1. Boba needs those speeders, so he tracks them down and we end up at tosche station. This is pretty awesome because this is where Luke hung out as a teenage with his friends, and it's what we hear him say in episode 4 about his power converters. From the deleted scene in a new hope we see that the structure and and interior is the same, this is great continuity. The two people being picked on are actually Luke's friends, cammie and fixer. Boba takes them out like the terminator took out the bikers in the bar, and stole their bikes as mentioned in last night's watch party. He heads back the tuskens and teaches them how to ride. As they eventually ambush the train and take out the pykes in a massive all out battle. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The samurai were the result of centuries of corruption from the oldest clan in Japan, the Fujiwara. The Fujiwara held complete control of the government of ancient Japan, even at one-point controlling the emperor. Through this power abuse rose the Taira and Minamoto who eventually took over and then fought a civil war between themselves with the Minamoto coming out on top. A Daimyo could not become Shogun unless he had lineage dating back to the Minamoto clan, The Oda did not have this. One such clan that did have this lineage was the Mori clan of Western Japan. The Mori were famed seamen and through the leadership of their great lord Mori Motonari, they became the most powerful clan of Western Japan. On February 5 1597, 26 Christians were killed by crucifixion in Nagasaki, Japan, part of a centuries-long persecution of the Christian faith in that country. Catholic missions to Japan began in the 16th century and were initially successful. Hundreds of thousands of Japanese converted, including some Daimyo (feudal lords). However, starting with the rule of Toyotomi Hideyoshi brutal persecutions started against the Christians. The 26 martyrs commemorated today include both foreign missionaries and Japanese Christians, the youngest a boy of 12 years old.
