The Toronto Blue Jays let another opportunity slip away in a heartbreaking 6-4 loss to the Boston Red Sox, falling back to 10 games under .500 and now sitting 6.5 games out of a Wild Card spot. On this episode of Flight Deck, host Dan Riccio breaks down a game that looked destined to be a memorable comeback before unravelling in the late innings.After falling behind 4-0, the Blue Jays battled back thanks to Kazuma Okamoto's massive three-run home run in the seventh inning before Andrés Giménez tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the eighth following outstanding at-bats from Nathan Lukes and Daulton Varsho. Toronto finally found timely hitting after struggling all night with runners in scoring position, but the comeback was short-lived.With Tyler Rogers and Louis Varland unavailable, the Blue Jays were forced into a difficult bullpen decision, turning to rookie CJ Van Eyk in a high-leverage situation. The young right-hander surrendered two runs while recording just one out, allowing Boston to reclaim the lead for good. They wouldn't look back as Aroldis Chapman closed out the 9th for his 24th save of the season.Despite the loss, Trey Yesavage continued to show encouraging development. The rookie struck out nine hitters while issuing just one walk, a significant improvement for a pitcher whose command has been one of his biggest challenges this season.
