Jeff Blair and Kevin Barker break down the Blue Jays' 6-5 walk-off loss vs. the Dodgers in a marathon 18-inning Game 3 of the World Series. They take your calls and texts, and debate where this game was won and lost - does this fall on John Schneider over-managing with early hooks for Bo Bichette, Alejandro Kirk, and Addison Barger, or does it fall on the offence that replaced them late in the game? They get into the efforts from the bullpen, including Eric Lauer and Jeff Hoffman, and discuss the effects this might have on both the Blue Jays and Dodgers in Game 4 and 5. Plus, they chat about Shohei Ohtani, the decision not to intentionally walk him in the seventh inning, and what they do vs. Ohtani on both sides of the ball in Game 4. The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.
Ben Ennis and Brent Gunning begin Tuesday morning by recapping one of the wildest World Series games in the history of baseball. The guys go over the over six-hour game chronologically, starting from Bo Bichette being thrown out in the second inning. They discuss Home Plate Umpire Mark Wegner's overall performance, Alejandro Kirk's home run, the decision to pitch to Shohei Ohtani in the seventh inning, and the subsequent intention walk parade. In the aftermath, they evaluate John Schneider's lineup decisions, including whether pinch running was worth the trade-off of losing the bats of Addison Barger and Bo Bichette. They also consider how the injuries to George Springer and Alejandro Kirk affected the lineup, and the decision to send Davis Schneider, and Brendon Little's surprising 17th inning performance. Finally, they discuss how tough this loss is for the Blue Jays and how the team can rebound from it.The views and opinions expressed in this podcast are those of the hosts and guests and do not necessarily reflect the position of Rogers Sports & Media or any affiliates.
World Series Recap Games One and TwoLos Angeles Dodgers (93-69) @ Toronto Blue Jays (94-68)The Fall Classic has begun in Canada, with the Blue Jays hosting the Dodgers for the first two games of the World Series. With George Springer's epic homer in Game Seven against Seattle, Toronto captured its first AL Pennant in 32 years. Vlad Guerrero, Jr. took home ALCS MVP honors, while Alejandro Kirk and Ernie Clement racked up a ton of hits throughout the series. There is no let up in manager John Schneider's lineup. And they should see an additional boost, as star infielder Bo Bichette returns to the team after missing thprevious two rounds with an injury. The Dodgers look to defend their World Series crown as they rolled through the NLCS against Milwaukee, thanks in large part to their outstanding starting pitching. Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, and Shohei Ohtani combined for 28.2 innings, 35 strike outs, just nine hits, six walks, and two runs allowed across four games. The task will be much greater against this deep Toronto offense, and if the starters aren't as effective, Dave Roberts will be forced to turn to a much maligned bullpen (which will be without their best lefty, Alex Vesia, due to an unfortunate family emergency.) Shohei Ohtani has appeared to break out of his postseason slump with a 3 homer day in game four (not to mention six shutout innings and ten strikeouts on the mound!). The rest of the offense has done enough to get by, but they'll likely need more from the likes of Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, Max Muncy, and the “Brothers Hernández”.In Game One, the youngster Trey Yesavage will take on Blake Snell. Yesavage is making just his seventh career start (and 4th of the postseason), and he's the second youngest to ever get a game one start (Ralph Branca for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947!). Blake Snell has been absolutely dominant, but he relies on hitters to chase outside the zone, which these Blue Jays avoid better than anyone. For Game Two, expect a lot of splitters as Kevin Gausman and Yoshinobu Yamamoto face off. Gausman has been the Blue Jays best pitcher in these playoffs so far, but it will be tough to match the Japanese star. With the first complete game in the playoffs since 2017, Yamamoto looks to have the first complete game in the World Series in a decade, and he would the first with consecutive complete games since 2004. Tune in for what should be an excellent series!Toronto Radio SN590 - Ben Shulman and Chris LerouxLos Angeles Radio AM570 - Stephen Nelson and Rick MondayAudio clips from MLB.tvAs always, thank you to Baseball Reference and SABR for statistics, box scores, background information, and much, much more.Catch you next time,P.C.O.

The Yankees' postseason run hit its first bump north of the border as Toronto dominated Game 1 of the ALDS with a 10–1 victory at Rogers Centre. Despite the lopsided score, host Chris Nesi reminds fans that the effort on the field wasn't nearly as bad as the final line suggested. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. put on a two-way clinic, flashing leather and launching a homer, while Alejandro Kirk surprised everyone with two of his own.Luis Gil's short outing forced the Yankees to tap deep into their bullpen—using six pitchers—and things unraveled from there. But even in the loss, Chris remains confident the Yankees will bounce back, predicting a four-game series win with Max Fried taking the mound against rookie Trey Yesavage in Game 2. With Rodón and Schlittler lined up for Games 3 and 4, the path to the ALCS is still wide open. Plus, Chris breaks down key at-bats, bullpen decisions, and why the offense must wake up fast if the Yankees want to “Chase for 28” to stay alive.Bullpen Q&A ☎️You have opinions just like we do so we want to hear from you!Email us at feedback@chasefor28.comConnect with us on Twitter @chasefor28podConnect with us on Instagram @chasefor28podSend a voicemail http://chasefor28.com/voicemailMerch

Do we really want to pull away from that long and amazing history? Batting average may not be the be-all and end-all offensive stat but we think it's still important.
