Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber dig into the Knicks' potential Eastern Conference Finals path, debating whether Cleveland or Detroit would be the more dangerous opponent. The conversation centers on confidence in the Knicks, skepticism around James Harden, and why home court advantage could make Cleveland the preferred matchup. The guys also react to early Giants schedule leaks, including back to back primetime games to open the season, and discuss why the national spotlight raises the stakes for Big Blue. Plus, they touch on A.J. Ewing's opportunity with the Mets, Luis Robert Jr.'s uncertain status, umpire sensitivity around ABS challenges, and concerns about Austin Wells and the Yankees lineup.
Boomer and Gio debate the skepticism surrounding the Knicks, while a caller questions an injured AJ Minter's golf outings and Boomer proposes ‘flattening first base' to prevent injuries. Jerry details the Mets' win over the Tigers, featuring AJ Ewing's impressive debut, though Francisco Alvarez's knee injury and a grim update from David Stearns on Luis Robert Jr. dampen the mood. The Yanks topped the Orioles behind a Trent Grisham home run, Anthony Volpe made his return, and Luke Combs shockingly brought life to the viral 'Puerto Rico Song' that nobody else liked.
Jerry has all the sounds of the Mets beating the Tigers. AJ Ewing had a great debut, but Francisco Alvarez got hurt and will need an MRI on his knee. David Stearns gave an update on Luis Robert Jr. and it doesn't sound good. The Yankees beat the Orioles as Trent Grisham had a 3-run HR. Anthony Volpe is back with the Yankees.
Tyler Glasnow is pitching like an absolute ace, but his history of back issues and a current workload of 140 projected innings make him the ultimate sell-high candidate. Joe and Corey debate whether to flip him now for a slow-starting superstar before the inevitable injury risk catches up to his elite surface stats. The waiver wire is filled with multi-positional assets this week, including Casey Schmidt, Brooks Lee, and Andrew Vaughn. The guys also look at Brice Matthews, Bryson Stott, and pitchers Payton Tolle and Max Meyer, though they question if these arms are being overlooked in too many leagues. Agustin Ramirez is officially this week's rage drop after being sent down to Triple-A to work on his defense. Other drops discussed include Jung Hoo Lee, Tanner Bibee, and Emmet Sheehan, with the hosts noting that Sheehan's increased home run rate and hard contact make him someone else's problem. Rankings risers are led by Brandon Marsh, Jordan Walker, and Mickey Moniak, while Jack Perkins is surging as the potential new lockdown closer for the Athletics. Fallers include Rafael Devers, Luis Robert Jr., Joe Ryan, Spencer Strider, and Bubba Chandler, who is struggling significantly with his command. In the trade market, Corey Seager and Logan Webb stand out as premier buy-low targets despite their slow starts. Eury Perez remains an upside play, while Oneil Cruz and Justin Wrobleski join Glasnow as players to move now while their value is peaking. Tyler Glasnow left his start after just one inning with back tightness, and Cole Ragens was pulled after 3 IP with a 3 mph velo drop and left tricep/elbow soreness. Both situations are worth monitoring closely heading into the weekend, and Joe Bond has the fantasy fallout on today's episode. Joe runs through the Rankings Risers and Fallers, with Brandon Marsh, Jordan Walker, Mickey Moniak, and Jack Perkins trending up, while Zach Neto, Luis Robert Jr., Joe Ryan, Spencer Strider, and Bubba Chandler are trending down. Rafael Devers shows up on both sides of the ledger. On Studs and Duds, Andy Pages, Marcus Semien, Rafael Devers, Andrew Vaughn, Jack Flaherty, Bryan Woo, Paul Skenes, and Shane McClanahan stood out, while Munetaka Murakami, Bryce Eldridge, Teoscar Hernandez, and Gunnar Henderson had rough outings. Today's FanDuel Bet of the Day features Nico Hoerner at 2+ Hits, Runs, and RBI at -160, or the longer shot at 3+ for +140. Chuck Garfien is joined by MLB writer and Emmy-nominated MLB Network contributor Anthony Castrovince to break down the White Sox's start to their 2026 campaign and why it's far too early to hit the panic button. They dive into the opening series against the Milwaukee Brewers, including a tough Game 3 loss, and what it reveals about where the Sox stand early in the season. Plus, reactions to Pat Murphy calling the Sox a future force in the AL Central and why that praise might carry more weight than it seems. The conversation also turns to breakout potential, with buzz building around Munetaka Murakami and Castrovince calling his power “the real deal” and possibly the steal of the offseason. They debate whether Luis Robert Jr. belongs in the early MVP conversation, look at early surprises like the Miami Marlins, and get into an interesting discussion on ABS. Plus why Castrovince wouldn't mind seeing a World Series decided by it.

The start of the 2026 Major League Baseball season is less than a week away, which means it's time to make one bold prediction for every team. While a lot of these picks may seem far-fetched—like Giancarlo Stanton stealing a base for the New York Yankees or Luis Robert Jr. leading the New York Mets in WAR—some of these might actually come to fruition. On this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman talk about their picks for the American and National League teams, which include Edwin Díaz possibly reaching the 50-save mark in his first season with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Garrett Crochet reaching the 230-inning mark for the Boston Red Sox. Also, is there a chance the Pope will be at a Chicago White Sox game this season? And will Mike Trout win another MVP award? Later, Jake and Jordan take a look at which baseball players you should consider drafting for your upcoming fantasy season and why it might be best to consider fading Francisco Lindor, Corbin Carroll and Cal Raleigh. They then make their picks for The Good, The Bad & The Uggla, which includes the disappointing news that Trey Yesavage and the Toronto Blue Jays just received. 1:54 - The Opener: 2026 bold predictions 4:57 - AL East 13:38 - AL Central 23:11 - AL West 34:05 - NL East 42:31 - NL Central 48:51 - NL West 59:30 - Players you need for fantasy baseball 1:17:22 - The Good, The Bad & The Uggla Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:
Spring training is entering its final stretch and the Mets are starting to get a clearer picture of what this roster might look like when Opening Day arrives. Farace and Rodriguez are back in the booth to break it all down — and with Producer Joe missing the show on some very questionable unapproved time off, things might actually stay on track for once. The biggest storyline right now revolves around Francisco Lindor, who has begun playing rehab games as he works his way back from hamate bone surgery. Lindor says he's confident he'll be ready for Opening Day, and if that holds true it's a major boost for the Mets lineup and clubhouse. There's encouraging news on the pitching side as well. Kodai Senga's velocity is reportedly right back where the Mets want it, sitting around 97–98 mph this spring, while Sean Manaea made his first appearance of the spring as the Mets continue evaluating their rotation depth. Meanwhile, Freddy Peralta is already speaking openly about the possibility of a future extension, which raises questions about how the Mets plan to structure their long-term pitching core. The roster picture is also beginning to take shape. Prospect Jonah Tong has been optioned to Triple-A, while Carson Benge continues competing for a role on the major league roster. Rodriguez was actually at the game on Friday and got a firsthand look at Benge in action — and even managed to end up in the background of a video featuring David Wright talking about Bo Bichette.Elsewhere around camp, Luis Robert Jr. reminded everyone about his power with a home run in a minor league game, while the Mets continue to work with Bichette behind the scenes as he gets comfortable in the organization. The World Baseball Classic is also creating some drama around the Mets organization. Nolan McLean is part of Team USA, which just suffered a surprising loss to Italy and now needs help in its next game to advance. It's another reminder of how much Mets talent is scattered across the tournament and how closely fans are watching to make sure everyone comes back healthy. We'll also take a look at MLB Network's Top 10 Right Now list for outfielders and where the game's elite stack up at the position.Spring training decisions are getting closer, roster battles are heating up, and Opening Day is right around the corner. Farace and Rodriguez break it all down — this time without Producer Joe behind the wall.See you in the booth. #Mets #PiitB #PutItInTheBooks
Should you draft Francisco Alvarez at pick 221 after injuries derailed his breakout? Is Luis Robert Jr. a league-winning steal in the Mets lineup? Joe Bond, AJ Applegarth, and Corey Pieper break down 2026 fantasy baseball sleepers at every position—value targets outside the top 150 who can smash their ADP. The guys debate late-round steals like Carter Jensen (95.4 mph exit velo tied with Aaron Judge), Andrew Vaughn after his .308 Milwaukee breakout, and Matt McLain batting second for the Reds. Plus: Max Muncy's vision correction unlocked 18 homers in half a season, Dansby Swanson's boring-but-reliable 20/15 upside at pick 148, and why Chris Bubic at pick 200+ is absurd value compared to Spencer Strider at 100. Key debates: Francisco Alvarez: Can he finally stay healthy and unlock 30-homer upside? Luis Robert Jr. vs injury concerns: 30/30 potential or bust? Matt McLain batting second: Real breakout or batting average drain? Shota Imanaga's velocity up 3 mph: Spring training noise or legit bounce-back? Plus: Joe loves Bryan Reynolds (shocking no one), AJ goes all-in on Mets players, and Corey breaks down why Carter Jensen should catch full-time over Salvy Perez. Chuck Garfien sits down with White Sox top prospect Noah Schultz to break down the growth he's made since being drafted and how adversity shaped his 2025 season. Schultz opens up about battling knee tendinitis, what he learned during the downtime, and why he's entering 2026 confident and ready for a bounce-back year. He also explains how simplifying his mechanics has taken his game to another level. Schultz talks about his offseason workouts alongside Luis Robert Jr., Juan Soto, Mark Vientos, and Joey Gallo, and what he's picked up from training with them. He talks about how he looked up to future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw and the process behind developing his signature pitch. Plus, Chuck asks whether he's looking forward to a future showdown with new Sox slugger Munetaka Murakami.
From 'Rico Brogna' (subscribe here): In this offseason we've seen the roster completely turn over. Fan favorites have left the building like Brandon Nimmo, Edwin Diaz and Pete Alonso. The replacements of Bo Bichette, Marcus Semien, Jorge Polanco, Luis Robert Jr. and Freddy Peralta are here. The question isn't if we like what David Stearns did. The question is "Are the Mets better?". Well, are they? To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. The episode wraps up with young star Colson Montgomery, who talks about building on his strong rookie year and what he's focused on next.
Chuck Garfien is joined by his TV partner and 2005 World Series Champion Ozzie Guillen for a conversation about the direction of the White Sox and why Ozzie believes this team will be more exciting to watch in 2026. Guillen also explains why he has confidence in the Sox starting rotation heading into the season. The discussion shifts to roster moves and player evaluations, including Ozzie's reaction to the Luis Robert Jr. trade and his inside take on Luisangel Acuña, Everson Pereira, and Munetaka Murakami. Ozzie also weighs in on comments from Francisco Lindor, the addition of relief pitcher Seranthony Domínguez, and whether this White Sox team is positioned to take a real step forward this upcoming season.
The Mets have completely turned their offseason around with a busy week. Boomer and Gio react to the blockbuster Freddy Peralta trade and how fans have changed their tone on David Stearns, while Craig Carton rips any fans who still don't like the offseason. Plus, Evan Roberts reveals his concerns about the deal, and reacts to the Luis Robert Jr. trade.
Ben Lindbergh and Meg Rowley banter about the best point in the podcast at which to talk transactions, how a salary cap would affect the kind of conversations we have about baseball (based on the way we discuss other sports), the notion that a particular signing would drive owners to pursue a salary cap, and (25:09) whether a fielder’s proclivity for diving catches tells us anything about how good he is (inspired by the belief that Andruw Jones never had to dive). Then (44:32) they break down the latest Mets moves (for Luis Robert Jr. and Freddy Peralta), the team’s extreme makeover, and why the Brewers dealt Peralta, plus (1:29:08) the Yankees’ Cody Bellinger deal, their lack of roster turnover, and Belli’s up-down-up career. Sal Licata joins the crew today, and you'll never guess how Christopher "Mad Dog" Russo tried to pronounce Jarrett Stidham. We discovered that Sal was a ladies' man when he worked at Home Depot in the past. Then, the Mets made moves adding pitcher Freddy Peralta and outfielder Luis Robert Jr., and we get Sal's take on it. Stugotz thinks the Bills should hire Bill Belichick. And finally, we discuss the etiquette of buying Girl Scout cookies. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The final hour of Evan & Tiki is packed with baseball, football, and classic New York sports banter. Evan and Tiki react to a whirlwind MLB offseason, including the Mets' aggressive moves for Freddy Peralta, Luis Robert Jr., and Bo Bichette, and debate whether Peralta is a risky rental or a long-term building block. The Yankees' decision to retain Cody Bellinger sparks further discussion about roster construction and championship expectations in a Dodgers-dominated league.
The crew opens with a big-picture baseball thought experiment: MLB should invent “Fugazi deadlines” to turn the offseason into a fast, chaotic sprint, because the last week has felt like an NFL-style frenzy. The Mets' entire winter gets compressed into a handful of headlines, from missing on Kyle Tucker to landing Luis Robert Jr. and adding Freddy Peralta, plus the value of getting a controllable arm like Tobias Myers as part of the bigger move. Then the conversation shifts into the real Mets fan experience right now: confusion, nerves, and a growing divide. One side sees the Peralta trade as an obvious upgrade. The other sees a potential rental that cost two top prospects, and says if you do that, you better be serious about keeping him. From there, it becomes a full debate about how “rentals” actually work, with a Mike Piazza comparison, plus the bigger question hanging over everything: can anyone realistically beat the Dodgers. The answer is complicated. The Dodgers might be the best team, but baseball still gives you a shot if you catch the right breaks and play clean, because you cannot afford a single slip against a team that deep.
The guys boil the Freddy Peralta trade down to one core issue: the Mets improved immediately, but it still feels like a short-term roster with short-term bets. If Peralta is a one-year rental and anything goes sideways, the whole thing can feel like a “temporary Picasso” that gets ruined the second it gets wet. Then the phones light up. One caller thinks the Mets changed philosophy because of media pressure, but Evan pushes back hard and says the front office has actually been consistent all along. That leads into the bigger theme: the Mets' approach to short-term deals, what Bo Bichette's press conference really told you about the plan, and why fans keep asking what “good enough” is when you cash in top prospects. Plus: a debate over the “roadblock” narrative with Jett Williams, what happens if Luis Robert Jr struggles early, and how quickly the Mets would pivot if performance is not there. And it ends with a hard pivot to hoops: the Knicks annihilate the Nets, the “players-only meeting” story gets dissected through Josh Hart's comments, and the real question becomes what the Knicks do next, not what they did to Brooklyn.

Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber break down a wild day in New York sports. The Yankees finally re-sign Cody Bellinger to a five-year deal, bringing relief to Bronx fans after a quiet offseason. The Mets pivot with a Luis Robert Jr. trade, signaling that Cody was never headed to Queens and raising questions about David Stearns' long-term philosophy. Plus, Giants fans continue to buzz after John Harbaugh's official introduction as head coach, Knicks fans grow uneasy amid a slump, and Evan explains why the Yankees could actually be better in 2026 despite the lack of splashy moves. All that and more on WFAN's Evan & Tiki.
Big Mac storms in with a brutal comp, calling the Mets' Luis Robert Jr. trade the “Anthony Volpi” of moves, and the debate takes off from there. Why are Mets fans still fighting over the offseason, while Yankees fans are somehow… calm? The crew breaks down what the Robert Jr. deal signals about Cody Bellinger, why the Yankees' quiet winter has fans stuck in limbo, and why one announcement could flip the entire New York baseball mood overnight. Then it pivots hard to the Knicks, and the questions get louder: effort, energy, body language, and whether this looks like a team drifting from its coach. From Josh Hart's late-night TV appearance to the bigger issue of urgency, chemistry, and buy-in, the conversation turns into a real temperature check with CP “The Franchise” on what's actually happening and what (if anything) can fix it fast before things get ugly.
The Mets finally pull the trigger on the move they've been circling for what feels like forever, landing Luis Robert Jr. and immediately reshaping the conversation around their lineup. Evan, Tiki, and Shaun break down why the deal makes sense even with the obvious red flags: recent struggles, durability concerns, and the price tag. They debate the upside of a true change of scenery in New York, what Robert's defense means for a team that badly needed real center field stability, and why this is a low risk swing with potentially massive reward. Plus, the ripple effect: where does this leave the Mets in the Cody Bellinger chase, and why Yankees fans might be feeling more confident today than they did yesterday as the staredown with Scott Boras continues. The hour also touches on growing buzz around the Giants, adding another major New York storyline to a packed opening segment.
The Mets finally make the move everyone assumed would never happen, acquiring Luis Robert Jr. and forcing a hard look at what this roster is really becoming. Evan, Tiki, and Shaun debate why the trade makes sense defensively, why the upside is real despite two rough seasons, and why the only true risk might be financial. The conversation turns into a deeper breakdown of David Stearns' long term vision, the famous “painting” analogy, and whether this lineup is better, worse, or just wildly different after losing Pete Alonso and reshaping the middle of the field. They dive into Robert's change of scenery potential, the Mets' desperate need for a real center fielder, and how bad last year's production truly was at that spot. Plus, the ripple effect on the Cody Bellinger sweepstakes, why the Mets likely have a short term offer out, and why Yankees fans may feel more confident as the staredown with Scott Boras continues. The big question remains: when you squint at this roster, is the picture starting to come together or does it still feel unfinished?
