She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park. Jehnae organized the first organ tissue donor drive at The Lincoln University, through Be The Match Bone Marrow Donation Program. She currently serves as the Co-advisor for the College of Southern Maryland's Engineering club & National Society of Black Engineers Jr, chapter. In addition, she instructs the Engineer like a girl program. Jehnae volunteers with local Girl Scout Troops for girls to obtain their STEM Badges. Serves as President of University of Maryland's Black Graduate Student Union that focuses on growth, development and advocating for educational success of minority students. JENNIFER L. FRANCISScientist since Middle School with an ever growing passion to share science through the fundamental principle of Science in Everyday Experiences (SEE). Jennifer uses the concept of SEE to share science locally and internationally to all ages. She has introduced youth locally to SEE as a presenter for Girl Scout Troops, National Engineering Week, and Weekend Science Programs. Internationally, Jennifer has lead science activities in Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, South Africa, and Tobago. Professionally as an Industrial Hygienist employed with Intel Corporation, Jennifer uses her formal science education along with the concept of “SEE” to provide for the protection of employees and the environment during the semiconductor technology development and manufacturing process. In applying “SEE” she is able to communicate environmental, health and safety hazard concerns and controls to employees with varying levels of science awareness and understanding. Jennifer has also previously used the concept of “SEE” to share biblical truths in Pre-K Children's Church classes at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.Jennifer's passion for science is supported by a Master of Science Degree in Toxicology from the University of New Mexico along with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from her beloved alma mater of Prairie View A&M University. She also holds a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation through the American Board of Industrial Hygiene and a Certified Safety Procession (CSP) from the Board of Certified Safety Processionals. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought challenges to everyday life — even to how local Girl Scouts meet and get their famous cookies into the hands of fans. There are eight Girl Scout Troops in Wilson County — four each in the La Vernia and Floresville areas. In the past, it was usual for four Girl Scouts to man a cookie booth with two adults; COVID precautions limited us to two Girl Scouts per booth, working fewer hours to ensure each girl has an opportunity to work. Election Week Cookie Sales 2020· Election Week Cookie Sales are underway! Girl Scouts will be hosting statewide cookie booths at a variety of locations from Friday, October 30- Sunday, November 8. · Election Week Cookie Sales is a limited fall cookie sale and a way for local Girl Scout Troops to start raising funds for all of the amazing activities and programs they want to participate in this year. · Election Week Cookie flavors include: Lemon-Ups®, Trefoils®, Do-si-dos®, Samoas®, Tagalongs®, Thin Mints®, and Girl Scout S’mores®. · All cookies are $5 per package EXCEPT Girl Scout S’mores, which are $6 per package. Safety Guidelines· Troops are participating in in-person cookie booths, including some drive-thru cookie booths; taking orders from friends, family, and previous customers; reaching out to customers in their communities via social media; and holding live stream cookie booths! · Girl Scouts will be adhering to safety guidelines while hosting in person cookie booths to keep both girls and their customers safe. Five Skills· Through the Girl Scout Cookie Program, girls learn five important skills that will last a lifetime: goal setting, people skills, money management, decision making, and business ethics. Where the money goes· The proceeds from Girl Scout Cookies stay in Connecticut to benefit girls. Girl Scouts of Connecticut also depends on these funds to run programming for girls, keep properties up-to-date, and provide training for our volunteers. · Many girls put a portion of their cookie proceeds toward take action and service projects right in their own backyards, from supporting animal shelters and food banks to working towards environmental stewardship and social enterprise.Cookies for Heroes· Many Girl Scouts will be participating in GSOFCT’s Gift of Caring Project, Cookies for Heroes. · Through Cookies for Heroes, customers can support the sending of cookies to service men and women at home and overseas as well as local community heroes.
