It seems we are living in increasingly stressful times of conflict and separation. Do you think it's possible to change the world in which we live? Maybe so, but how can that happen? We see devastating stories on the news constantly. Our world is filled with tragedies – violence, corruption, and endless suffering. This can easily make us feel helpless and hopeless. Yet, there's an innate desire, a profound longing in each of us, for a world that works. We feel we want to do something, deep in our hearts, deep in our souls, which will actually take our planet to its next evolutionary level. As we enter this third millennium, our job is the conscious creation of Humanity's New Story, namely, Heaven on Earth. Listen as today's guest Martin Rutte elaborates on his vision and how his organization is going about achieving this goal through Project Heaven On Earth. Martin guides us through and asks us to contemplate three questions – and through those questions, we can begin to imagine and visualize a world of possibilities. Martin is an international speaker and consultant, and president of Livelihood, a creative leadership management consulting firm, in Santa Fe, NM. He is the co-author of “Chicken Soup for the Soul at Work.” For more than 15 years he has been exploring people's vision for the kind of world they long for – Project Heaven on Earth. His new book is “Project Heaven on Earth: The 3 Simple Questions that Will Help You Change the World … Easily.” He shows us that change really is possible! Info: www.projectheavenonearth.com
Do you often feel stressed when you watch the news? Do you want to feel at peace, but find yourself getting triggered? How do we manage this? Our guest today is Tamala Floyd, an expert in the Internal Family Systems model of psychotherapy. She discusses “parts” therapy and explains how to be in relationship with our “selves” and our internal guidance systems. Tamala is a psychotherapist, consultant, author, and speaker with more than 20 years of experience. Her books and audio include “Listening When Parts Speak” and “Healing the Wounded Mother.” She discusses how there is a part inside of us that is untouched. That is the Self. The other parts obscure this. It is when the separate parts come into relationship with each other that we can begin to become whole. When there is trauma, we cope by disassociating and our parts start to separate. They come up with strategies to keep us safe. If we grew up in an abusive household, we become dysfunctional. These previously used coping strategies no longer work. We can also take on generational trauma, and not even know it. It's carried in our DNA. We are disconnected from our original ancestor, but it was so important for survival, it continues down the generational line. Tamala talks about the effect of slavery. Her parents were raised in Jim Crow Louisiana. So few opportunities existed, so she was taught you had to be much better and pursue excellence to the point of perfection. There were not enough positions to go around, so you had to be excellent. How can we find the disenfranchised parts of ourselves? It starts by looking at things that aren't working. Tamala also explains that we can look at what causes us to be triggered. When those triggers happen, and we get upset, that's the starting point to find our parts. The first way to get in contact with a part is to see how it shows up. Does your stomach feel tight? Are you sensing your breath change? Our physical body reveals answers. We can be curious about these relationships, then get to a place where we feel the qualities of self. Tamala explains how what's left is our true self. She talks about the importance of the “8 Cs.” The whole self has compassion, curiosity, calm, connectedness, courage, creativity, clarity, and confidence. When we recognize them, we can move toward peace and healing. Info: tamalafloyd.com

Would you like to change the negative patterns in your life? Did you know they could be based in your unconscious? Lisa continues the conversation today with Dr. Darren R. Weissman, who is a leading chiropractic holistic physician, author, and world-renowned expert on the subconscious mind. He developed The LifeLine Technique®, a holistic, self-healing system designed to process trauma, transform subconscious limiting beliefs, and evolve emotional intelligence. He explains how there are 3 things unconscious patterns do. They affect your vision and how you see things; they affect your hearing and how you hear things; and they affect your surroundings and your relationship to how you experience things. You feel by looking through these lenses that that's reality. We may believe that suffering is real. But, it's actually the lens you are looking through. Dr. Darren talks about the “Truth Question” – if you could choose to create your life, what would you choose? Would you ever create a level of pain, fear, and stress? Hell, no!! When we are in a subconscious pattern, we may not know that our pain is based on the choices we made. We are programmed to forget, then these programs become our personalities. The entire process of the Lifeline Technique is all about love. Dr. Darren talks about how to learn to create healthy boundaries. We can say Yes or No with love. When we shift our vibrations, we shift our consciousness. People can then make confident, calm decisions with clarity. We evolve and become present to who we are born to be. We courageously face our fears and realize we are capable. It is accessible to everyone. The Lifeline Technique is based in infinite love and gratitude. When you bridge the gap between the subconscious and conscious, you naturally begin to see the truth of an optimistic future. The more you align and create coherence, the deeper the levels of perception. The power is within us. This is truth. Would you like to find greater purpose and live more intentionally? Wayne W. Dyer, Ph.D., is an internationally renowned author and speaker in the field of self-development. Today he discusses his compelling film, “Ambition To Meaning,” which explores ways to find meaning, fulfillment, and purpose. He also shares a technique from renowned mystical author Neville Goddard to manifest your wishes by using your subconscious as you sleep. Wayne is affectionately called the “father of motivation” by his fans. He's the author of more than 40 books, has created audio programs and videos, and has appeared on thousands of television and radio shows. Do you experience the same challenges over and over? Do you know that these patterns in your life may be unconscious? Would you like to unravel these patterns? Today's guest is Dr. Darren R. Weissman, who is a leading chiropractic holistic physician, author, and world-renowned expert on the subconscious mind. He developed The LifeLine Technique®, a holistic, self-healing system designed to process trauma, transform subconscious limiting beliefs, and evolve emotional intelligence. Dr. Darren talks about how everyone is healing from something. Everyone has a story. These patterns, whether in health, relationships, finances, etc, are all run by unconscious patterns. All levels of pain, fear, and stress are trying to tell us something. It could be the same story running over and over. He explains how these sources of pain are actually portals, which are doorways to healing. Instead of looking at these as problems, we can look at them as portals and become curious learners. He talks about stepping into these portals, processing the memories they hold, and coming out successfully on the other side. We can utilize these portals and learn to receive answers from our higher selves. Triggers are key to learning about our subconscious patterns. These pain and coping mechanism patterns get activated in a powerful way. Dr. Darren talks about how his LifeLine Technique offers infinite love and gratitude as a way to heal. Our subconscious minds are at work every 3 to 5 seconds. We are always in a reactive state. If we are aware, we can see these patterns. Oftentimes these triggers have nothing to do with our present time. They frequently begin in childhood. When we get to the root memory, the core limiting belief can be affected by harmonizing it. The patterns are intertwined at a subconscious root. When those memories and patterns are unraveled at the subconscious level, our bodies can heal. This is what our bodies are meant to do – we are meant to self-heal. We can be self-loving. Dr. Darren explains how every disease begins in our subconscious. The body is always a reflection of the mind. Dr. Darren references the work of Dr. Bruce Lipton and his study of epigenetics. We don't perceive truth. We perceive what we believe. It's based on the outside. Our senses become conditioned based on particular moments of time. These moments get imprinted in our subconscious. The LifeLine Technique is a way to overcome these beliefs and live in a state of infinite love and gratitude. To learn more about Dr. Darren Weissman's upcoming program "Personal, Professional, Family Life Mastery" pls visit: https://www.thelifelinetechnique.co/ppf-mastery. Are you feeling low energy? Do you feel stressed on a daily basis? The news is filled with stories of wars, mass shootings, rights getting overturned, economic uncertainty, and so much continuous devastation, it could seem that we are living in End Times. Our guest today, scholar, philosopher, and researcher Jean Houston, Ph.D., delves into the idea of finding possibility, even during these times of great grief. We have been conditioned to respond to the terrible, but it does not have to be this way. As an icon in the Human Potential movement, Jean shares ideas about how the Renaissance, with its advancements in music, art, poetry, and cosmology, came after great plagues and times of war, much like the world situation today. Could we be in a new Renaissance period now? We are once again in a similar time of radical growth, and we have the power within us to see new possibilities and reach mythical potential in our human evolution. Jean shares stories of her travels and talks about her friendship with scholar Joseph Campbell and how they would have “beautiful fights” which were friendly arguments and deep discussions about mythology and the fate of humanity. Campbell wrote extensively about the “Hero's Journey,” while Jean considered the “Heroine's Journey.” Part of the problem is that 50% of the human race is not being recognized for women's immense creativity and power. Women's ways are missing. With an emphasis on compassion, cooperation, community, and process rather than product and competition, humane creativity must be celebrated by acknowledging the achievements of women. She also talks about her fateful meeting of evolutionary philosopher and Jesuit priest Pierre Teilhard de Chardin who became one of her mentors when she was much younger. At an early age, they would have profound discussions of time, history, and transformation, as she gained an alternate education of possibilities through their talks. We air this today in honor of Jean Houston's upcoming 88th birthday. Info: JeanHouston.com
Would you like to try a safe method of healing? Do you know about Red Light Therapy? Lisa continues the conversation today with Dr. Carl Rothschild and Joyce Gerber, who also joins us, to talk about the multiple benefits of this therapy. Dr. Rothchild has been a chiropractor for many decades. Nearly 30 years ago, he was introduced to a healing method known as “Red Light Therapy.” Joyce Gerber, who is an expert nutritionist and colon hydrotherapist, met Dr. Carl Rothschild during the pandemic lockdown. Joyce was not able to do hands-on therapy, so she began working with Dr. Rothschild on his Red Light Therapy beds. She met a client who had heart problems. After 5 minutes, the therapy helped his heart tremendously. They explain how we are in a state of regeneration or degeneration. Joyce talks about how she also uses food as therapy. She looks at the whole body and how one part affects another. It's a holistic approach. The remedies are personalized. It's a powerful modality. Joyce explains how nutrition helps as well. Dr. Carl talks about how each session is 12 minutes. He says there have been no recorded side effects from this therapy. Your body will respond whether it needs to relax or be energized. The body knows how to get better. If you have any condition, the therapy may help. Mitochondrial activity is increased, and it will improve those particular areas. It is whole body healing. Dr. Carl explains that not only will you look better and feel better, you will have a better quality of life. Everyone can benefit from this non-invasive treatment. Joyce Gerber calls the mitochondria the energy factories of the cell. They are necessary for optimal health. Dr. Carl also discusses pain and the underlying causes. When corrected, the pain and inflammation go away. You must correct the underlying issues, and you can also reverse them with Red Light Therapy. He also discusses the difference between infared saunas using far-infared and the therapy beds. The near-infared waves affect the mitochondria. He also discusses blue and green lights too, and how blue light can negatively affect sleep patterns. The Red Light wavelengths are invisible to the naked eye. He talks about how there are more than 3 million documents and articles about the benefits of this therapy including studies from the National Institutes of Health. He further discusses how the therapy can also improve mood, sleep, and emotions. There are numerous locations around the country which have the Red Light Therapy Beds. This is Part 2 of the interview. Info: www.trifectalight.com/joyce
How do you handle living in these intense times? With so much global change, including economic change, this may leave us feeling vulnerable and fearful. Our guest today is author and spiritual teacher Isha Judd. She talks about how we do not have to fall into the trap of being a victim. She teaches that we can shift our perspective to become more playful. If we focus on what she calls “love-consciousness,” we can learn to feel more secure. Our fears are not our reality. Our fears are about the future. If things affect you, you can go inner and find solutions. External security doesn't exist, especially in a constantly changing world. Isha talks about the massive breakdown she had when she was 28 years old when she lost everything. Her life was in crisis. Her father died, her boyfriend died, her mother had a massive brain tumor, she lost her job, and her finances crashed all during the same time. She was overwhelmed and lost. Nothing was working on the outside. By soul-searching, she knew she could only go into herself. It was necessary to stop looking outside and go internal. Isha talks about how to free yourself from the most common fear-based illusions we cling to out of habit, how to empower yourself to permeate all your roles and responsibilities with love-consciousness, and more. Her objective was to find permanent joy and peace. She believes she can find love and acceptance every day. She discusses surrendering. In the past, she was always very successful. She was an overachiever because inside she didn't feel valued. She learned to be non-judgmental, which led to acceptance, and then empowerment. This is available to everyone. Isha has taught thousands of people a simple system that shows how to find the luminous state of mind she calls “love-consciousness,” in which every moment of life — even the most challenging and frustrating — can be filled with love, peace, and self-acceptance. Isha is the founder of Isha Educating for Peace and the author of “Why Walk When You Can Fly?” She travels throughout the world teaching diverse groups, including prisoners, ex–guerrilla soldiers, troubled youths, and the general public her unique approach to life and love. Born in Australia, she now lives in Uruguay. Info: www.ishajudd.com
Are you looking for a different and safe method of healing? Have you heard about Red Light Therapy? Dr. Carl Rothschild and Joyce Gerber join us today to talk about the multiple benefits of this therapy. Dr. Rothchild has been a chiropractor for many decades. He loved helping people and had a goal of helping as many as he could. Nearly 30 years ago, he was introduced to a healing method known as “Red Light Therapy.” He started testing this therapy at his 12 practices and had profound results. Science at the time knew this was an element of the sun but couldn't quite explain how it worked. Hereditary diseases and auto-immune diseases have all seen beneficial results by using this therapy. Yet, many people and healthcare practitioners haven't even heard about this. Dr. Rothschild describes a particular patient who had severe burns. Within just a few weeks, the pain and scaring had improved dramatically by using this method. There's also a red light that helped with weight and fat loss. As a chiropractor, Dr. Rothschild believed he should remove the interference and allow the body to do what it does best, which is to heal. If your nervous system flows, you will feel better and have more energy. He talks about how light, and a smart diet can help. He also explains how it can soothe nerves and help with anxiety. He discusses how this red light can help and how science has done research on many ailments. He explains about the thousands of mitochondria in each cell. They are vitally important for optimal health. Red and near-infrared therapy can bring the mitochondria back to health. It stimulates circulation. The safe elements of sunlight help tremendously – the two wavelengths of red and near-infared go deep into the person's body. During Covid, Dr. Rothschild and his team developed Red Light Therapy beds. A patient lies in the bed and the light penetrates deep. This helps the cells to work properly. It is getting to the cellular level to get the mitochondria to work properly so they can do their job. He explains that 10% of an adult's body weight is made up of mitochondria. This is a newer finding. If the cells are not functioning properly, diseases can happen, including auto-immune dysfunction. Dr. Rothschild has seen dramatic results in eyesight, headaches, and so much more by combining red light and near-infared light. This type of light will not cause a tan or damage to the skin. In fact, it also helps the skin to have less wrinkles and repairs it. The light penetrates inches into the body. It has an effect on distant cells as well. It can help with various organs and deep tissue healing. There are numerous locations around the country which have the Red Light Therapy Beds. This is Part 1 of the interview. Do you know there are millions of metric tons of plastic waste and microplastics floating in our oceans? This impacts both the fish and ultimately the food we consume. According to the EPA, “Plastic particles are generally the most abundant type of debris encountered in the marine environment, with estimates suggesting that 60% to 80% of marine debris is plastic, and more than 90% of all floating debris particles are plastic.” Dr. Marcus Eriksen is on the show today to discuss the DVD “Our Synthetic Seas,” which covers the total issue about plastic and the garbage found in our seas and especially the problem of disappearing sea life as fish are now eating plastic, waste, debris, and more dangerous materials. Marcus is currently the Executive Director of the 5 Gyres Institute. He received his Ph.D. in Science Education from the University of Southern California in 2003, months before embarking on a 2000-mile, 5-month journey down the Mississippi River on a homemade raft of plastic bottles. His experience on the river led to a career studying the ecological impacts of plastic marine pollution, which has included 8 expeditions sailing 25,000 miles through all 5 subtropical gyres to discover new garbage patches of plastic pollution in the Southern Hemisphere and beyond. With an affinity for rafting, his most recent adventure sent him and a colleague across the Pacific Ocean from California to Hawaii on a homemade raft floating on 15,000 plastic bottles and a Cessna airplane fuselage as a cabin. The journey, 2,600 miles in 88 days, brought tremendous attention to the plastic pollution issue. Info: Algalita.org and MarcusEriksen.com.
How do we break out of self-sabotage? The mind is biologically programmed to be negative. Lisa continues the conversation today with renunciate monk and author Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati. Sadhvi has lived on the banks of the sacred Ganges River in Rishikesh, India, for the past 30 years. Originally from Los Angeles, and a graduate of Stanford University, she holds a Ph.D. in psychology. Sadhvi explains how we are the offspring of people who know they need to survive. Our ancestors needed to assume the worst, in order to survive. We have evolved this way. And, we know that we can now change. We can reprogram our minds. Sadhvi suggests using a mantra. It doesn't have to be in Sanskrit. It's anything that can bring you into the present moment and out of negativity. We can reason with our minds, and sometimes we need to face the negativity, but more often we can delete and end the cycle of negativity. “OM” is a very common mantra. It's very powerful. Chanting also helps. This stops the mind. She gives examples of many different mantras and prayers. The sounds help the brain go into a state of coherence. She also talks about attending the Maha Kumbh Mela where more than 670 million people came to the Ganges river recently to attend the largest gathering in the history of the world. The Maha Kumbh Mela means the great festival of the nectar of immortality. It took place on the confluence of the banks of 3 great rivers in India. There was no conflict, no violence; it was just people coming together in love and peace. She further discusses the astrology of the moment, especially the full moons. Vedic astrology predicts that this particular planetary alignment happens only once every 144 years. With hundreds of millions of people attending the gathering, this shows that people are suffering and looking for answers. People are angry. People are frustrated. People are searching for answers. This was a way to break out of constraints and experience freedom. When asked about anger, she expressed that there are some reasons to be angry including poverty, hunger, loss of human rights, and so much more. Yet, when we are angry, we are called to be agents of change, but first we must find peace within ourselves so we can then help others. She offers breathing exercises with specific energy centers and anchoring. Whether it's other people's actions, or even the weather, we shouldn't have expectations that things will be different. We cannot control others. We must bring light to the darkness, but not from a place of anger. She notes Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Jr, and Gandhi and how they were angry but came from a place of peace to make change. Sadhvi is a bestselling author, a world-renowned speaker, a recipient of President Biden's Award for a Lifetime of Service, and she serves on the United Nations Advisory Council on religion. She talks further about her new book “Come Home to Yourself” and discusses how forgiveness is the key to help us reach deeper spiritual truths. It's an invitation to come home to freedom. This is Part 2 of the interview. Info: www.sadhviji.org

Do you live in anger and fear? Would you like to hear a story of healing? Today Lisa talks with renunciate monk and author Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati. Sadhvi has lived on the banks sacred Ganges River in Rishikesh, India, for the past 30 years. Originally from Los Angeles, and a graduate of Stanford University, she holds a Ph.D. in psychology. Seemingly having it all, she realized at the young age of 25, that she was not happy. Although she was married and excelled academically, she felt restless and was always wanting more. She had overcome childhood traumas, abuse, a severe eating disorder, and depression. She knew there must be another way. Upon arriving in India, she had an unexpected and profound spiritual experience. She only went to India because her husband wanted to go. She left with only a backpack, thinking this would be a semester break. Suddenly, while standing on the banks of the Ganges River, she was overwhelmed with ecstasy. Several days later she randomly walked past a beautiful, clean ashram. It felt like an oasis to her. She was walking through it and heard a voice say, “You must stay here.” She didn't see anyone, and she was a scientist, so of course she ignored it. One minute later, she heard the voice again, and still didn't see anyone. She was just about to ignore it again, when she remembered she made a promise to herself while on the flight to India. She asked herself to “keep her heart open.” The fact she was in India made no sense to her. She was not religious, and she was not spiritual, yet she always believed there would be a plan. This felt perfect and she knew this must somehow be aligned. Sadvhi further shares her story about realizing that things were planned. Being a scientist, she does not believe in random events. Although she still believes in science, she was open to possibilities. She knew that if she didn't want to stay in India, it would be very easy for her to return to the US. She ended up staying at the ashram and working with the spiritual teacher there. The ashram is dedicated to self-realization and awakening for all. The devotees there believe in the betterment of all and help to provide food for the hungry, empower women, and offer free medical care, as well as a spiritual path for anyone who is interested. They have yoga programs, philosophy programs, sacred ceremonies, all taught by example from the guru there. They focus on love and compassion for all. Sadhvi is a bestselling author, a world-renowned speaker, a recipient of President Biden's Award for a Lifetime of Service, and she serves on the United Nations Advisory Council on religion. Sadhvi's latest book is “Come Home to Yourself.” This book is the edited version of the Q&A sessions that she teaches each night in the ashram. She is a vessel for wisdom to pour through her. She feels that the gift she was given was to come home to the truth. She wants to offer these powerful teachings as a way for each person to find the truth within themselves. We all have the answers within. We may just need to be reminded that we can end our suffering by coming home to ourselves. We don't need to constantly be taught; we just need to be guided back into ourselves to find the truth. Info: www.sadhviji.org

How can you have a conversation with someone who has differing views than you do? How can you allow for the conflict that might ensue? Can you be understanding and compassionate? Or do you walk away? According to our guest today, author, therapist, and relationship expert Carolyn Sharp, there are ways to handle being triggered. This is a normal and natural response when we feel fear. If we can soften, it will ease the trigger, and we can begin to feel calmer. Carolyn explains that if we learn to be curious, rather than judgmental, we can get through these intense moments. When we stay focused on just the facts, we disconnect from the curiosity. We can feel misunderstood and not heard. We can feel that people are not respecting us. This is prevalent in our country and especially missing culturally now. We all want to be understood and recognized. For example, many people may disagree about how the government wants to enforce judgements and control the narrative. We must create space to talk about things in a safe way. Make it safe for both sides. It's a matter of acknowledging and not judging. If someone feels wrong, it erodes compassion. This can lead to violence and lack of safety. Carolyn also discusses her recent book, “Fire It Up: Reigniting Intimacy and Joy in Your Relationship” and how she wrote it for couples and people in relationships. It's about compassionate communication. She addresses various aspects of couples including what to do when one lies or even is unfaithful. She talks about how lying is extraordinarily common in relationships, especially during the courtship phase. As an example, someone may ask, “How do you like the dinner I cooked?” and the other person may feel the need to be overly complimentary, even if they dislike it. She talks about a culture where people feel safe enough to be completely honest. If we continue with “white lies” we eventually stop recognizing that we are lying. In this Age of Social Media, we are experiencing general people, who are not trained journalists, reporting what they believe is fact. People are stating opinions and claiming it as fact. This becomes very hard for us to decipher and can lead to major disagreements. Carolyn also talks about the importance of investing in your relationships, and specifically with your partner. She addresses if someone in the partnership cheats and how traumatic it can be. If the other person is not hearing you, it's important to decide if it's healthy to stay in the relationship. If it's in a situation with co-workers or with your boss, you may need to just “agree to disagree.” We are not able to change others. We can only change ourselves. Fighting doesn't allow for this opportunity. In politics and such a divided nation, it's challenging to acknowledge one another. It is impacting many aspects of our lives. Many people feel betrayed and hurt. We are living in an intense time, and Carolyn suggests getting support around your feelings. These are complicated times, but there are ways to de-escalate and disengage. Everyone has to decide what they need in their relationships. You can value the other person's support yet not agree with them. It's better to be honest and respectful and see if you can come to a place of radical acceptance. In honor of March being Women's History Month, we ask -- What does it mean to be a Warrior Goddess? To our guest today, author and teacher HeatherAsh Amara, that means reclaiming both our power and our compassion as women. We must have both of these qualities. It's a renewal of our commitment, passion, and creativity. Women today juggle a lot of roles and often put the needs of others ahead of their own. And even then, they often feel like they're not enough. Women can feel like they are not able to speak up and have their voices heard. Although things may have changed on the outside, on the inside we may still feel self-doubt where we don't honor ourselves deeply. We often put ourselves last, especially when we recognize how women tend to be caretakers. HeatherAsh advises us to take time for self-care. It's so important. She suggests setting up “date nights” with ourselves, whether this means going out to a museum, or taking a long bath at home. HeatherAsh talks about the idea of receiving and recommends that we ask for support, so that we are not placing the entire burden on ourselves. HeatherAsh also offers tips as to how to raise a Warrior Goddess daughter. We must be the role models. HeatherAsh also discusses her book, “Warrior Goddess Training.” She'll show you how to release the layers of expectations to finally see yourself for the authentic, perceptive, perfect woman you already are! Do you wake up feeling stressed? Do you immediately think about all the things you have to do and experience a sense of dread? Lisa continues the conversation today with our guest, author and spiritual teacher Blake Bauer. Blake's international bestselling book is “You Were Not Born to Suffer: Overcome Fear, Insecurity and Depression and Love Yourself Back to Happiness, Confidence and Peace.” Blake suggests if you are waking up and feeling stressed, you may not know how to have a healthy relationship with yourself. You may not know how to love yourself. He knows that life does not have to be this way. You are so much more. When you take note of how you feel in the morning, you can work with what's present. Blake suggests 10 minutes of meditation first thing in the morning. Your thoughts will shape your day. When you wake up and dislike your life, you are activating fear, stress, and anxiety. You start to make yourself sick with your thoughts. By meditating, you learn to have thoughts that serve you. You can activate healthy neural networks which will help you to create more of what you want in your life. You can override stressful thoughts and create your day by being disciplined and mindful with your thoughts. Why not use your thoughts to create a better reality? It all starts with self-love. You can begin with intentions. You can state affirmations. By doing these practices you get your mind ready to receive. It's Law of Attraction. Conversely, if you are suffering, you are hurting yourself and not even realize you may be hurting others. As the saying goes, “Hurt people hurt people.” Blake talks about the science of self-healing and how when you learn to filter your thoughts with more loving, mindful practices and you act on integrity, the love, light, and healthy energy inside can transform you. It involves self-care. The love inside will help you rid the sorrow and trauma. Your anger can be healed, and you can learn to forgive. You do not have to live in a place of suffering. The more you release what holds you back, the quicker you can move forward. You can create positive energy and possibilities. We can start with one tiny act of kindness, and that will begin to make all the difference. When he was in school studying Chinese Medicine, Blake also learned about the practice of Qi Gong and how this gentle, loving form of exercise has been a tremendous help to his physical state. He found it was the perfect way to find peace, by bridging movement with his meditation practice. He explains that Qi Gong is the foundation of all of Chinese Medicine and a way to unlock what's stuck and clear any blocks. It's another way to give yourself permission to feel worthy and send that signal to the universe! Info: www.unconditional-selflove.com
Is it possible to have two strongly opposing points of view and still get along and work together? And if so, how can two sides, who are both committed to their own views, come to a conclusion? Are you more committed to politics, for example, or are you more committed to your relationships? Today Lisa talks once again with executive coach Jim Selman and psychiatrist Dr. Srini Pillay. Together they invite us to create a new mind, so we can create a new world. Jim Selman is an executive coach and talks about how leadership is a willingness to commit to a possibility before evidence is shown. Jim has worked within the corporate sector in management. He has learned to navigate opposing views and worked with both managers and those in unions. Neither party can be completely satisfied but they can work together. He talks about possibility thinking and its role in leadership. Psychiatrist Dr. Srini Pillay talks about leadership and a willingness to acknowledge possibilities, even before there's evidence. He talks about how the amygdala in the brain processes all emotions. Fear is at the forefront as we need to protect ourselves. Srini further discusses suffering and how it works in the brain. It can feel like we are being attacked, and we want people to understand it. The root of polarization is the difference between living in a state of suffering or living in a state of possibility. How is it possible to get along with others who have completely opposite views? Unless you are willing to acknowledge and respect the legitimacy of the other, then no reconciliation is possible. We automatically assume that the other person is wrong, yet no conclusion can be proven true or false. We must allow others to have judgements without reaction. It is not the truth, nor is it a falsehood. So how do we learn to live together in a way where each person can have their own opinions, yet we allow for respect of one another's views? We don't have to agree, and we can learn to create together. Most polarization gets stuck when people will not allow room for another person's view. Together they talk about consciousness, balance, and non-judgmental thinking. This leads to creative solutions. There is a way to have a conversation and not get to an agreement but still allow for the possibility of co-creation. If you can do this in a polarized environment, you actually have more power and can create a common future. This interview was part of a series originally taped in August of 2020, and we air this show in honor of Jim Selman who passed away recently. Jim was an executive coach and pioneer in the field of personal and organizational transformation. He is the author of numerous books including “Leadership” and “Living in a Real-Time World: 6 Capabilities to Prepare Us for an Unimaginable Future.” Info: jimselman.com and drsrinipillay.com.
Do you feel constant stress? Are you exhausted and suffering? According to our guest today, author and teacher Blake Bauer, you were NOT born to suffer. He has helped thousands of people find freedom through what he practices and teaches about self-love. Blake grew up in Chicago under very tough circumstances. His parents divorced and he was surrounded by abuse, drugs, and addiction. By the time he reached high school, he was a user of drugs and alcohol himself as a way to cope and numb his own pain. He was running away from his problems, and he admits he couldn't ask for help. He had no healthy models around him, so he learned unhealthy coping mechanisms. He learned how to hurt himself through self-destructive tendencies in order to survive. Finally, after a night of heavy partying, he realized he had to find a way to heal, or he would die. He had taken drugs and was drinking and found himself asleep in his car in front of a freight train. He admits that he had a big ego and being a teenager at the time, he thought he was invincible. When the police found him, he didn't realize what was happening. He was arrested with a DUI and they found drugs in the car. At this time, he was a senior in high school and a superstar football player. He was the captain of his team and had multiple offers to play at colleges. The coach found out about his DUI and kicked him off the team. Blake's identity and his world were crumbling. He lost his football friends and felt so ashamed of his behavior. He was often suicidal. This pain was so strong, and he desperately sought out answers to find freedom from his suffering. He had no idea what to do. He began looking for answers as to how to heal. He asked himself, what is the purpose of it all? He was in so much trauma but took accountability for everything that was happening. He felt so sick inside. All he wanted to do was find relief. Slowly, with mental strength, he began to explore healthier options. He learned to eat healthy, take vitamins, do yoga, and meditate. He did not go back to drugs and alcohol. He grew up around extreme addiction and saw how devastating it could be. He realized he was following in the same pattern, and he knew he had to change. His healthy pride kicked in and he overrode his genetic and environmental influences. Blake talks about how he attended five different universities as a seeker. He sought out teachers and authors who could help him heal. Practices became a major part of his healing. He could feel the power in yoga and meditation. He studied psychology as well as traditional Chinese Medicine, including acupuncture and energy healing. Blake also discusses how he is not a victim. He takes 100% responsibility for his actions. He started going to workshops and retreats to continue to find answers. He knew he had to heal, or he would die. When he was in his early 20s, he began teaching meditation in the back of a vitamin store where he was working. He could see that most forms of disease stem from not loving ourselves. We never learned how to do that as children. He linked how our thoughts and emotions can lead to disease or to healing. He was in so much pain when he was younger, but he knew it didn't have to be that way. He decided to write a book and was rejected by more than 100 agents and publishers. He eventually self-published and it became a #1 self-help book in Australia where he was living. His international bestseller is “You Were Not Born to Suffer: Overcome Fear, Insecurity and Depression and Love Yourself Back to Happiness, Confidence and Peace.” So how can we live in a way to alleviate suffering? By learning to love ourselves! If you learn to love yourself, you'll have access to everything you need inside. You can learn to value yourself and develop self-respect. Blake explains that you are either hurting yourself or helping yourself with your thoughts. He shares ways to take care of yourself and develop habits so you too can heal! What does it meant to create a new world? Would you like to escape limited ways of thinking and find your power? Our guests today are executive coach Jim Selman and psychiatrist Dr. Srini Pillay. Together they invite us to create a new mind, so we can create a new world. Jim Selman talks about futuristic thinking and who we have to be as we navigate a changing world. He is the founder of Executive Coaching and author of many books. Dr. Srini Pillay is a Harvard-trained psychiatrist who works within the corporate, technology, and government sectors. He is also author of several books. Jim and Srini believe this is the greatest possible time to live. Many of the ways we've been taught to live may not stand up to old beliefs. Why are the problems of the world continuing? How can we shift how we relate? We live in a world of uncertainty and there's been a long tradition of “how” to do things, especially in the self-help world. When you ask “How?” it doesn't give you ways to work in the future. We have had pandemics, wars, and a history of conflict. Jim and Srini decided to study the ways in which successful people don't follow a particular formula. We are being asked to shift our mindsets to come up with different results. Jim moved from management and consulting to executive coaching. He continuously asked why it was so possible to come up with answers, but so challenging to implement them. There is a belief that it's hard to change. This led Jim into the idea of transformation in the 1970s, when he worked with Esalen Institute. He determined that managers tried to control the result, yet in the worlds of art and sports, coaches do not try to control the performance. They don't control the behavior of others. This opened the world of coaching to him, so he learned to work with others to offer results without control. This was an alternative to management, especially in the corporate world. Srini teaches that you don't need to follow the herd. We can look inside for the answers. He talks about the definition of leadership and how it involves “becoming yourself.” A lot of people think there's a way they are “supposed” to be. This involves competence, autonomy, and social relatedness, yet in order to have a sense of purpose, we must be and become ourselves. Jim and Srini explain about their idea of “Existential Confidence” as a way for people to transform. Joining philosophy with neuroscience and psychology can help you to access yourself. Successful people are not mimicking others. They are expressing from the self. Who do we need to be to create change? They talk about confidence, commitment, and possibilities. Ordinary confidence is based on our experience. We've either done it or seen examples of it. We accept that the world is changing at an extraordinary rate. Our grounding and realities are breaking down. Common sense is not so common or reliable. We need to reinvent our relationship to what's going on. We don't have maps to get there. This is Existential Confidence. It's a confidence that rises within us, that is absolute self-trust. People may tell us it's impossible, but we know we can undertake what needs to be done. It's the kind of confidence that allows you to enjoy the journey and not constantly question. It's what you need if you are going to create or co-create the future. If it's truly going to be a future that works for most all of us, it's going to require that level of Existential Confidence. It encompasses the wholeness of who we are as human beings. It's our relationship to the future. Jim and Srini deeply discuss that is possible to pivot and create possibilities. You can change your identify from being a follower to being a creative leader. You no longer copy others. You develop your own way. We can create the reality we want to see. We can create the future. This interview was originally taped in August of 2020, and we air this show in honor of Jim Selman who passed away recently. After so much conflict, how will it be possible to have peace in the Middle East? With so much separation, how can people remember their hearts and come together? Today Lisa continues the conversation with Ora and Ihab Balha, a Jewish and Muslim couple living in Isreal who exemplify love, despite the extreme conflicts in the area in which they are living. Together they co-founded “The Orchard of Abraham's Children'' nonprofit organization, a holistic educational and communal organization dedicated to transforming Jewish-Arab relations for a shared future, as well as the “Human First Community Center” in Jaffa, Israel. Today Ora and Ihab talk about the idea of peace, and how it exists; you just need to tap in. Peace is the future. The education system in Isreal is all about division based on religion and culture. This can be changed. By separating Jewish and Arab people, it creates ignorance. By coming together, and going to school together, we can learn about one another. We can enrich each other with our differences and find similarities to connect. Ignorance creates fear and that fear creates violence. An education system can address this by bringing students together. Ora and Ihab talk about how they start with teaching the children, and then the kids bring home information to their parents. They have also started a community center for adults. It's not just early childhood education. It's for the entire family. This can create change. Slowly it becomes impactful. They have an open prayer room and everyone is welcome. People come to visit from all over the world to pray and meditate. The local community branches out to the neighborhood and around Isreal. They have various locations in which they work with Israelis and Palestinians, as well as the global community. People have lost hope, but when they see that it's possible to learn the tools and create peace, they can feel inspired. Ora and Ihab also discuss how the education they've developed helps not only people, but the Earth as well. It's about sustainability. They talk about how we are just stewards of the land; no one actually owns it. We belong to the land. They also talk about their interfaith gatherings and the similarities between the various religions. When they started out, people made fun of what they were doing. Now people take note and are very interested. They want to get involved. It is difficult to shift people's minds in the beginning, but when they see what's possible, they become inspired and want to invest in peace and education. It is possible to change the paradigm and Ora and Ihab are leading the way through their work together. They are working to stop the war and bring peace. They remind us that we are all part of the human family, and it is possible to live in abundance, love, and peace. We just need to open our hearts and come together. Do you long for something more in your life? Are you innately drawn toward spirituality? Do you think we as humans are naturally wired to look for deeper meaning in our lives? Whether it be a walk in the woods, or through mediation or prayer, our guest today, Dr. Lisa Miller, believes that we are naturally able to tap into a heightened awareness of the world around us. We are able to cultivate circuits in our brains which help us to become more spiritually aware. By developing this awareness, we can begin to free ourselves from depression, anxiety, loss of creativity, and so much more. We can consider things from a more awakened, more elevated perspective. Dr. Miller believes when we feel depressed, this is an alert asking us for deeper spiritual exploration. Dr. Miller is a professor in the Clinical Psychology Program at Teachers College, Columbia University, where she founded the Spirituality Mind Body Institute, the first Ivy League graduate program and research institute in spirituality and psychology. She has been with the Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical School for more than a decade. Dr. Miller is the NYT bestselling author of “The Spiritual Child” and her latest book is “The Awakened Brain.” She is the Editor of the Oxford University Press Handbook of Psychology and Spirituality, Founding Co-Editor-in-Chief of the APA journal “Spirituality in Clinical Practice,” an elected Fellow of The American Psychological Association (APA) and the two-time President of the APA Society for Psychology and Spirituality. Although it seems that we live in a world filled with tragedy, especially as we hear about events in the Middle East, there are still so many people there doing good in the world. In today's show, Lisa interviews Ora and Ihab Balha, a Jewish and Muslim couple living in Isreal who exemplify love, despite the extreme conflicts in which they are living. Together they co-founded “The Orchard of Abraham's Children'' nonprofit organization, a holistic educational and communal organization dedicated to transforming Jewish-Arab relations for a shared future, as well as the “Human First Community Center” in Jaffa, Israel. Ihab Balha explains as a Muslim man how he was challenged to a fight by a Jewish man who came running into a restaurant screaming hateful words toward Arabs. They got into a physical fight. Frequently this many would run into this restaurant shouting the same words and fighting with men there. Eventually Ihab decided to wait for him and attacked him outside. The Jewish man was surprised and said how they should schedule the next fight and invited him to fight at his home. Ihab talks about how they scheduled it, and when he arrived at the man's house, the man broke down about his wife leaving him. This led to a conversation about the importance of love and human connection. Together they talked about relationships and spoke from their hearts. They continued to meet, to talk, and to express their fears and anger. Slowly more Jewish people and Muslim people began to gather with them, just to talk. They decided to have a meeting in the Holy Land between the Israeli and Palestinian people. They were anticipating approximately 10 people. More than 300 showed up. They invited people from various religions including priests, Sufis, and rabbis. One man talked about his daughter being killed by an Israeli soldier. Another person talked about how a Palestinian man killed his son. Together they cried and shared their pain. Afterwards they hugged each other. At the second meeting, more than 1000 people came and for the third meeting, more than 5,000 people of various religions attended. This was essentially the biggest peace project in Israel. They did not talk about politics – instead they talked about being Jewish, Muslim, and Christian. They built bridges. Ora Balha talks about how she met Ihab when she was visiting the Sinai desert in Egypt. They saw each other and immediately fell in love. Even though Ora is Jewish and Ihab is Muslim, they talk about how love “took” them. It took over. They had to rise above cultural and societal differences. Ora moved in with Ihab in Jaffa. Because of the difficulties, they couldn't share this with anyone, including their families. When Ora first met Ihab's father, it was especially challenging. Their families could not get over their prejudices, but every time they met, Ora and Ihab would express only love. Finally, after a struggle of several years, their families accepted one another. It took time, but Ora and Ihab stayed true to their love. They also talked about the importance of choosing love. Even if you are afraid, when you choose love, people can see that and then reflect it. They also discuss what happened when they had their son and how they educated him. He learned both Hebrew and Arabic at home. They celebrated all of each other's holidays. When it came time to send him to kindergarten, they couldn't find a school that was teaching what they were at home, so they decided to start a kindergarten. They were young and didn't think about the future as much, so they started a very small school in Ihab's father's yard. Two children joined. They brought in both a Jewish teacher and a Muslim teacher. The community started to hear about them. In the beginning, it was hard, but slowly more children joined. By the end of the first year, 16 children were involved. They opened a second group the following year and a third group by the third year. Currently they now have nine kindergartens, an elementary school, and a community center which focuses on adults. It offers music and activities. They have more than 100 staff members. The schools are mainly in Jaffa and Galilee, but they have other teacher training programs. They also talked about the many challenges. There is so much fear and anger, resulting in separation. Ihab talks about how you must always be aware. It's not easy for people to change. People are stuck with their past ideology. They live in their minds, and they forget about their hearts and what connections them. People feel stuck so they argue and fight. Ora and Ihab are trying to express something new, something from their hearts. They learned to listen to one another. This is a dynamic movement. They invite people to remember that we are human first. God chooses all of us. We complete each other. Info: www.orchardofabrahamschildren.org

Do you often have conflicts with your partner? Would you like to learn to be happier in your relationships? Lisa continues the conversation today with author and relationship expert Linda Bloom, L.C.S.W., who is a psychotherapist and marriage counselor. Linda explains how there's an “art” to fighting and even in the greatest, happiest relationships, arguments can arise. Yet, she believes most challenges and problems can be worked out. You can use your relationship for the highest growth. From what Linda and her husband, Charlie Bloom, also a therapist and marriage counselor have reported, only about 10% of partnerships are in “Super Marriages.” This is an equal relationship which involves being compassionate and passionate, utilizing each other's strengths, and compensating for one another's weaknesses. Individually people have done the work to uplevel themselves and their understanding, thereby upleveling the relationship itself. Linda explains that it takes passion and commitment to be a highly emotionally intelligent person. By enrolling their partner, this leads to an immensely successful relationship. She and her husband decided to interview more than 50 very happy couples. The main trait they had in common was communication. They have “Super Marriages” because they are “Super Communicators.” They are in touch with their feelings and brave enough to express them. They learn how to be together, while keeping their individuality. They have so many clients who did not have good relationship role models. Luckily this is something that can be learned. Every couple can have their own experience, based on their own set of ethics and values. Between the demands of dual careers, raising children, and helping aging parents, you must make your relationship your priority. Linda suggests having date nights, checking in with yourself and partner every day, and scheduling romantic getaways at various times of the year, not just for birthdays and anniversaries. Prioritize the well-being of your relationship, and you can become a stronger working team, better able to handle life's stressors. Linda also discusses relationships with family members who may have differing opinions, politically and otherwise. Linda suggests setting boundaries and letting them know you do not care to discuss the subject if you know it will lead to an argument. If they are a bit more open, then you listen and show respect to their point of view. Maybe they will reciprocate and show interest. It is possible that understanding can be forged, even if you do not agree with one another. Curiosity and wonder allow for differences to peacefully co-exist. It needs to be learned from the ground up. If you can create loving, trusting behavior in your own family, you can inspire those around you and thereby accelerate healing with powerful impact. Linda and Charlie Bloom are co-authors of several widely acclaimed books including, “101 Things I Wish I Knew When I Got Married: Simple Lessons to Make Love Last,” which has sold more than 100,000 copies, and “Secrets of Great Marriages: Real Truths from Real Couples About Lasting Love, Happily Ever After and Thirty-nine Other Myths about Love,” She offers educational and counseling services to individuals, couples, and organizations. Do you often fight with your partner? Do you find it hard to speak your truth in relationships? Today's guest is author and relationship expert Linda Bloom, L.C.S.W., who is a psychotherapist and marriage counselor. Linda talks about how there's an “art” to fighting. Even in the greatest, happiest relationships, conflict can arise. Most challenges and problems can be worked out. If we are vulnerable, we see that underneath the anger and resentment, there's usually disconnection and fear. We can feel misunderstood and lonely but if we open up and express our vulnerability, it invites connection. Linda discusses how to set boundaries and take responsibility for our feelings. She talks about how opposites can attract as each brings different traits to the table. We all have golden light, but dark shadows as well. We can learn from each other and embrace one another's strengths. She also talks about how people search for the “perfect partner.” This can actually be a way to protect oneself, as no one is perfect, but we can look at the good in others. We can practice our skills, and even if relationships don't last, we can still move forward by taking a risk on someone and looking for kindness. Sometimes people absolutely won't agree on certain important aspects. Perhaps there are fights involving one who spends money and one who saves money. If you listen to each other patiently, and with curiosity and wonder, much can be learned and resolved. It's a matter of finding common ground. It doesn't have to be a dealbreaker. Addictions may be a dealbreaker. It's not the addiction itself; it's if the person doesn't want to find help. If people really listen to each other with understanding and respect, needs can be met. Linda also talks about how infidelity doesn't always have to be a dealbreaker. It may be a one-time mistake, and the person may have learned a lesson. It IS possible to forgive. Fears will come up and it will take time. It's a matter of trust and it may be possible to work it out. Being in a relationship takes a lot of work. It's about being conscious. Linda discusses modern families and how there may be completely unequal levels of income. It's important to talk about and get to the roots underneath the discomfort. If couples lean into the challenge, it can be a very fruitful conversation of balance. This is especially prevalent in the United States where people are so focused on money. It is possible to be a contribution, even if finances are unequal. The biggest fights occur when people don't feel the depth of love. Success in the US is defined by money, status, and finances. Linda's definition of success includes how many loving relationships we have in our lives. If you make it the priority, you won't suffer by feeling like you are lacking love. When you get triggered, and you are angry, it's important to take a few breaths. Take a break when you are in a fight. Breath and settle down. Think about what's hurting you and scaring you. That's a helpful, connecting conversation. By doing this, you can feel heard. That's loving behavior. Having a safe word also helps. When you take a “time out,” do not stomp off and slam the door. That's a message saying your partner is impossible. It's important to both agree ahead of time that this is the best way to calm down and compose yourself. Come back with the intention to learn and understand. This respectful attitude builds back the trust. Linda and her husband, Charlie Bloom, are co-authors of several widely acclaimed books including, “101 Things I Wish I Knew When I Got Married: Simple Lessons to Make Love Last,” which has sold more than 100,000 copies, and “Secrets of Great Marriages: Real Truths from Real Couples About Lasting Love, Happily Ever After and Thirty-nine Other Myths about Love,” She offers educational and counseling services to individuals, couples, and organizations. She is a regular presenter at Esalen Institute and Kripalu Yoga Center. Info: www.bloomwork.com

Is it possible to live a life of humility and resilience, both in good times or bad? How do we respond when crisis hits? Lisa continues the conversation with our guest Rabbi Steve Leder who talks about Darwin's theory and how the most adaptable people are the ones who survive. After pain and suffering, it's amazing what people can “normalize.” Rabbi Leder talks deeply about how difficult it is when children leave to go away to college, or when someone loses a business. Yet, a year later, life somehow becomes normal again. It may feel like a betrayal to your past, but we must keep moving forward. Rabbi Leder talks about redefining yourself and evolving. Meaning never goes out of style. He suggests that we stay in our lane and do good work. He further talks about good storytelling and myth. Myths are ways to describe truths about the human experience. He explains that about half of what we believe now are incorrect facts. History will prove this. The ancients had time to think about what they knew. We have access to so much information, but we still struggle to understand. Ancient people knew so much more about living through loss and disaster as they experienced it much more frequently than we have, whether it be infant mortality, wars, famine, disease, etc. Rabbi Leder explains how there are no “modern problems,” as we can look back to these people, see their resilience, and then move forward. We can look at ancient wisdom for our modern situations. Rabbi Leder is the author of several books including “More Beautiful Than Before: How Suffering Transforms Us,” “The Beauty of What Remains: How Our Greatest Fear Becomes Our Greatest Gift,” and his most recent “For You When I Am Gone.” He is the Senior Rabbi Emeritus of Wilshire Boulevard Temple, a prestigious synagogue in Los Angeles with three campuses and 3,000 families. Do you believe in UFOs? Is it possible that there are extraterrestrials here on planet Earth? Do unidentified beings walk among us? This is so hard to imagine, but humanity is at a time where we can take a leap in consciousness and understand that this may be a possibility. Our guest today is the esteemed civil rights attorney, Daniel Sheehan. Daniel is Harvard-educated and has worked on high-profile cases such as the Karen Silkwood case and Iran Contra civil case. He is also at the forefront of the unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) Disclosure movement which aims to bring transparency to this phenomenon. He is also the founder of the New Paradigm Institute and the Romero Institute, dedicated to social and environmental justice. Today Danny talks about the direct link between spirituality and consciousness. When confronted by challenges, we can turn to spirituality. When we see how incredibly vast our universe really is, it's easier to imagine that we are not alone. There are different dimensions and different realities. We have limited understanding, but by opening up to exploration, and especially by learning from indigenous peoples, we can broaden our perspectives. As a civil rights attorney, Daniel has done a lot of work with the Lakota people. He explains how they believe they come from the Pleiades in their spiritual tradition. This is a specific constellation visible to us. They believe they have had a lot of encounters with Star People. The Shamans receive messages which they share within their community. We have evidence of tens of thousands of people having these encounters around the world. Now science is studying this phenomenon, and our government is investigating these incidents. Our worldviews depend on whether we view them as a threat, or as spiritual, enlightened beings. We are in a period right now where more people are open to this information. It may help us to answer profound questions – it may be a threat, or it may be an opportunity. We have Free Will and we can explore and determine our own answers. Daniel Sheehan will be speaking at the upcoming Conscious Life Expo at the LAX Hilton on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 2pm Pacific. His topic is “The Present State ‘Official U.S. Government Disclosure' of the UFO/E.T. Reality.” He will also have a post-conference on Monday, Feb. 10. The Conscious Life Expo held at the LAX Hilton in Los Angeles will take place Feb 7 – 10, 2025. Lisa Garr will be moderating the Radical Healing Panel on Sunday, Feb 9 at Noon Pacific. How can we live a life of both humility and resilience, whether in good times or bad? How do we respond in joy and crisis? Today we welcome Rabbi Steve Leder who talks about the recent devastating fires in Los Angeles and how to cultivate tools to use when tragedy strikes. He talks about tending to our inner lives and how important it is to be of service to others. We receive comfort, even in the midst of our suffering, when we reach out to help others. We may all experience stress and trauma at various times in our lives. Success can ruin people the same way disaster can. Rabbi Leder reminds us to always live in the present and know, “This too shall pass,” whether it's in good times or bad. We can move forward, and he teaches us to not regret the past. We cannot change it. When we worry about the future, we are not changing it, and that can cause anxiety. Catastrophic thinking does us no good. We do not know what is going to happen. It causes us to feel constant stress. If we can be more in the moment, even for smaller periods of time, it can help us feel much more resilient. It makes a huge difference to be mindful. This also requires a level of faith and spirituality. Rabbi Leder explains about the meaning of prayer. Most people ask for something when they pray. Yet, it is not always about appealing to God. He explains that this is about trying to change ourselves from within. It's not looking outside to a deity; it's about looking inside and realizing we do know how to navigate our circumstances. If you've overcome obstacles in the past, you can overcome them again. How do you do this? How do you find a way? We have the answers within. Rabbi Leder suggests, “When you must, you can.” We go through various emotions – faith, anger, grief, and ultimately resilience. Don't let the fire go out in you. Don't let your spark fade. When we stay in the present, we can move forward. Do you feel patterns are holding you back? Did you know that our unconscious minds are running our lives 95% of the time? Our past experiences oftentimes keep us in a loop of negativity and suppression. Spiritual healer and psychic medium Dame Sandra Biskind joins us today to talk about the importance of accessing and listening to your inner guidance. Sandra has been a medium since childhood and has dedicated her time to help end suffering. She was Knighted in the Greek Orthodox Order of St John in 2017 for the work she does in the world to help people become happier, healthier, and more abundant. Sandra talks about how subconscious patterns run our lives and explains how people are reacting to the negative unconscious mind. She discusses the Quantum Neutrality Process, co-created by herself and her husband, Daniel Biskind. She talks about her ability to access past lives with her clients. Many emotions and patterns may be held there. By tapping into this information, she explains how to become neutral and essentially delete the karmic agreements and the way they are manifesting in this lifetime. It can be very challenging to raise your vibration if you are stuck in these old karmic patterns. If you allow the subconscious to run your life, manifestation will be much more difficult. It's self-sabotage from within. Sandra shares ways to get rid of these habits so you can manifest much more. It takes work to illuminate these patterns. In her practice, she works with ancient beings who help and guide her in her work. She goes directly into the unconscious programming. She talks about how the only way to have peace is to have forgiveness. You cannot forgive unless you become neutral. You can love so fully that you become non-judgmental. Judgements are a very low-frequency vibration. She talks about forgiving the unforgiveable. It's not about condoning the evil but realizing that unconscious programs are running. She also talks about giving up on blaming and complaining and how freeing that is. When we can stop, not blame, and stay out of victimhood, we can then take radical responsibility. Because of frequency and mindset, it's possible to change. Sandra asks us to look at our feelings and where we are focusing. How do you want to feel? And what focus can help you feel that? Gratitude helps tremendously! Sandra Biskind will be speaking at Conscious Life Expo held at the LAX Hilton in Los Angeles on Feb 7 – 10, 2025. Lisa Garr will be moderating the Radical Healing Panel on Sunday, Feb 9 at NOON Pacific where Sandra will be a participant. Info: consciouslifeexpo.com and sandrabiskind.com.
Today's guest, Ellie Rose Pasternak, shares her harrowing account of escaping the Pacific Palisades fire on January 7, 2025. Ellie grew up in the Palisades and previous fires in the area had never reached her family's house. When the fire began that morning, she and her Mom, Glory, who was also home at the time, were not overly concerned because the fire still seemed quite a distance away. At this time, there were no firefighters or engines in the neighborhood, so it seemed as if they were safe. Ellie then describes how she suddenly saw another fire on the other side of her house. She and her mom were keeping in touch with neighbors, and no one could understand what was happening. Ellie went outside, and as she was walking toward what she thought was an orange pylon in the road, she realized it was another fire. She ran as fast as she could to her house and alerted her Mom that they needed to leave immediately. It was now an emergency situation. By this time, their house had lost electricity, and they quickly gathered their animals including 4 dogs, 1 cat, 2 geckos, and 2 turtles. They rapidly gathered medications and a few articles of clothing and threw it all in the back of her car. Ellie describes how overwhelming it was and how things quickly changed in a matter of minutes. At this point, they thought they would be home the next day. In the past, the fire had never reached their home. Afterward, family friends were able to get into the neighborhood only to find that the Pasternaks' entire house was lost. Ellie's father, Dr. Henry Pasternak, is a very well-respected veterinarian who has practiced integrative medicine, using both holistic and Western therapies, for several decades in West Los Angeles. During the time of this taping, the family was sleeping at the veterinary office. The clinic was still open and operating during regular hours and housing many animals in need. Although they are in shock, Ellie explained that they are trying to find some sense of normalcy and are so grateful that they were able to escape with their animals with them. This is just one of thousands of stories of people and animals affected by the devastating fires in Los Angeles in January. If you are interested in making a donation either to the Pasternak family, or to the animals they are helping, pls call the Pasternak Veterinary Center at 310-268-2275. They are also accepting donations via Venmo @EllieRoseUke. To drop off donations in person, visit the clinic at 2038 South Sepulveda Blvd; West Los Angeles, CA 90025 or email info@pasternakvetcenter.com. Do you believe that intentions can bring about change? Do you know that the power of focus can help others heal as well? Lisa continues the conversation today with best-selling author and researcher Lynne McTaggart. Lynne talks about the importance of being very specific when setting intentions and how science is now measuring the results. Today Lynne and Lisa talk about the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles and conduct a live Intention Experiment to specifically ask for the fires to stop, with no more loss of life or property as people have lost so much. We can intend for the community to join together to rebuild, and for all people and animals to remain safe. Lynne is an award-winning journalist and author of four significant books exploring quantum physics, spirituality, and health, including “The Power of Eight,” “The Bond,” “The Intention Experiment,” and “The Field.” Lynne is also the architect of the Intention Experiments, the largest mind-over-matter experiments in history, and co-founder and editorial director of What Doctors Don't Tell You (www.wddty.com). Today she discusses the astounding results of her “Power of Eight” groups and how when people come together with a common intention and focus, remarkable changes can occur. Lynne examines the importance of altruism. People who do things for other people live longer and happier lives. Scientists have studied how people who live a life of service tend to have stronger immune systems. She further discusses her Power of Eight Groups and how individuals heal after they focus on healing others. Lynne also discusses her upcoming global Peace Intention Experiment, her largest one so far, which will be held at the Gaia studios' Gaiasphere on February 1 near Boulder, Colorado. They will be studying data from a specific area prior to the experiment. Intentions start working right away, so Lynne will reveal the specific area immediately before the experiment starts. Do you believe that setting an intention can bring about change? What if there were scientific findings to show that intentions can really work? What happens when an intention is sent toward an area or group of people? Best-selling author and researcher Lynne McTaggart is our guest today and she explains about the importance of being very specific when setting intentions. Lynne is an award-winning journalist and author of four significant books exploring quantum physics, spirituality, and health, including “The Power of Eight,” “The Bond,” “The Intention Experiment,” and “The Field.” These books are worldwide bestsellers which have been translated into 27 languages. Lynne is also the architect of the Intention Experiments, the largest mind-over-matter experiments in history, and co-founder and editorial director of What Doctors Don't Tell You (www.wddty.com). Today she shares stories of Intentions Experiments ranging from studying peace intentions with Arabs and Israelis to slowing the civil war in Sri Lanka to stopping violence in extremely crime-ridden areas such as St Louis, Missouri. She talks about the various credentialed scientists she has worked with and how they analyze the data. Lynne also discusses her upcoming global Peace Intention Experiment, her largest one so far, which will be held at the Gaia studios' Gaiasphere on February 1 near Boulder, Colorado. They will be studying data from a specific area prior to the experiment. She is not able to disclose the target area in advance because it has an affect when people start to think about it. Intentions start working right away, so Lynne will reveal the specific area immediately before the experiment starts. Lynne talks about how she started the Intention Experiments in 2007. After realizing the amazing results, she decided to experiment with small groups of 8 people. She was expecting them to have a nice, “feel good” effect, but was astounded as she studied the results they had on one another by focusing on each other's intentions. Personal intentions began to manifest, especially after focusing on someone else's needs. The intentions wielded powerful results. Lynne and Lisa also talk about the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles and conduct a live Intention Experiment to specifically ask for the fires to stop, with no more loss of life or property. People have lost so much. We can intend for the community to join together to rebuild. The American healthcare system is dealing with more mental health issues than ever before. What is the root of the uprising in anxiety and mood disorders? Why are more young people, children and teenagers, receiving this diagnosis and what can we do as a society to help understand? Today's guest, Susan Swick, MD, MPH is the Executive Director of Ohana, the integrated program for child and adolescent mental and behavioral health and healing at Montage Health, and the Vice President and Chief Mental Health Officer at Montage Health. She began her career at Rikers Island, studying the mental health needs of the incarcerated, which led her to studying younger patients, specifically the field of child psychiatry and how these children can be helped at an earlier age. How much is environmental and how much is the neurology of the brain? There is a rise in mental health issues in children. Childhood, from a brain perspective, ends closer to age 25. Skills like socialization, communication, and bonding are still forming until approximately this age. We develop skills prior to this age which can affect our mental health for the rest of our lives. But, there's good news and treatment is available! It can be corrected using a type of supportive mental health technique using skill-building so children learn to manage anxiety – it's like a type of mental health “tutoring” so they can manage something new and challenging, even if frightening. It is possible to build skills toward stronger health and mental fitness. Dr. Swick also talks about social media and how children become addicted to being online with a dopamine hit, especially in teenagers. Many compare themselves to others and eating disorders may start here. The reward part of the brain also does not mature until approximately age 26. Over a distinguished 20-year career as a clinical psychiatrist and educator, Dr. Swick has helped transform how American healthcare systems meet the escalating demand for pediatric and adolescent mental and behavioral healthcare treatment and services. A graduate of Columbia University Medical School, she previously served as Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Newton Wellesley Hospital and as an instructor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Swick is an advocate for the importance of mental fitness and has developed nationally recognized neuroscience strategies to help young people build and maintain a state of emotional health and positive self-awareness throughout their lives. Duane received the Japanese “Goi International Peace Award” in recognition of his contribution to a global vision, consciousness, and lifestyle that fosters a “more sustainable and spiritual culture.” In today's interview, Duane explains how the Universe has evidence of consciousness at every level – it's a unique living system. He talks about the “Miracle of Aliveness” and how what appears to be a quiet world around us is teeming with energy. We can find this aliveness in our relationships, in our connection with nature, in poetry and art, etc. It's about our connection with others, and how it enriches our lives. Duane is the author of “The Living Universe” which dives deep into scientific evidence of what the universe really is – uniquely alive – and how we are a part of it. He discusses the environmental planetary crises and how the viewpoint of separation created it. If we can switch to the belief that the universe is living, we can move more effortlessly into sustainability. Will we have a vision of conflict? Or we will vision a collaborative, cooperative future? It is our choice. Info: www.awakeningearth.org
